there's an interesting passage in Revelations that many people have been asking questions about it speaks of a vision where Four Horsemen appear one after the other riding horses of different colors these Horsemen cause havoc on the earth beginning the apocalypse what's more interesting is that everything about them has its own significance down to their outfits and the weapons they carry in this video we will talk about the four horsemen and the deeper meaning behind behind them the first Horseman comes with a white horse wearing a crown and holding a bow some say that this Rider
is Jesus Christ because he rode out looking like a conqueror we will see if that is really true the second Horseman appears on a bright red horse he was given a large sword and power to do devastating things that you would never have imagined possible the third man was next riding a rather odd colored horse the horse was black and The Horseman carried a pair of scales in his hand what do you think he needed this scale for the fourth Horseman is quite different from the others because he's the only one whom the Bible outrightly
tells us what He represents he was called death and he had an escort both the horsemen and his escort were given power to cause serious harm on the earth as we will soon see but before we get into it let's see how these Horsemen came on the scene the story of the four Horsemen begins with the event of the scroll and the lamb recorded in the Book of Revelations this scroll is important because it has Seven Seals and each of the Seven Seals is significant and relates to the four horsemen The Book of Revelations was
written by John the Beloved when he was in Exile on the island of Patmos he was sent into Exile by the Roman authorities because he was an influential figure of the early church who preached the word of God God and this was seen as a threat despite the several attempts to silence him John's Exile led to the creation of one of the most important Works in Christian scripture which we are now talking about God gave him this Revelation to serve as a peak into the future and what was to come God wanted us to be
prepared for the future he wanted us to know the sequence of events as the times unfold and the world comes to an end because of this revelation we can know with certainty what will happen and we will not be deceived by false Doctrine as a side note this shows us the intentionality of God and his nature of love he wants us to be prepared for his return and he wants to Shield us from lies with the truth at the beginning of the book Jesus appeared to John and told him these words so write the things
which you have seen in the vision and the things which are now happening and the things which will take place after these things what things was Jesus referring to what were the things that were going to happen in the coming future the coming future here refers to the end of the world and the events that will occur beginning with the Rapture after addressing the church in the first three chapters of Revelation a powerful voice says something of significance to John it tells him to come up hither here's how John wrote it after this I look
and there before me was a door standing open in heaven and the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said come up here and I will show you what must take place after this this is important because it is a typification of the Rapture the Rapture is the event that signifies the beginning of the end of times when we Believers in Jesus Christ will be caught up from the Earth to meet Jesus in the air 1 Thessalonians 4 16-17 says for the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud
command with the voice of the Archangel and with the trumpet call of God and the dead in Christ will rise first after that we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so we will be with the Lord forever let us compare this event with what the voice told John in his vision did you know notice that John was told to come up hither into the heavens the same way Believers will be caught up with Jesus in the clouds
this tells us that at the point when the voice spoke to John the Rapture is the next event in the sequence and it is typified here what comes next after the Rapture helps us understand one of the reasons for the Rapture in Matthew chapter 24 Jesus tells us that there will be Great Tribulation on the earth he says in verses 19 to 21 how Dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers pray that your flight will not take place in Winter or on the Sabbath for then there will be great
distress unequaled from the beginning of the world until now and never to be equaled again the period of time following the Rapture will be filled with so much tribulation much more than the world has ever seen that means no terrorism gen side natural disaster or political instability will be able to compete with those days in disaster these tribulations will come in waves and bouts this is where the vision of the scroll and the lamb comes in as we will soon see those who have put their faith in Jesus and received him as their lord and
savior holding on to this Faith until his coming will be raptured with him and that Rapture saves them from experiencing the disaster that will come upon the Earth This Disaster is divided into two periods there is the period of tribulation and there is the period of Great Tribulation the difference between the two is obvious in that tribulation will be much more multiplied in one than the other but why is all this tribulation happening what is really going on it is important for us to understand the tribulation for us to be able to decipher The Four
Horsemen and the Seven Seals the tribulation is a future time period of great suffering and there are two major reasons for it through the tribulation the Lord will accomplish at least two aspects of his plan one he will complete his discipline of the nation Israel and two he will judge the unbelieving Godless inhabitants of the Earth the length of the tribulation is 7 years this is determined by an understanding of the 70 weeks of Daniel the Great tribulation is the last half of the tribulation period spanning three and 1/2 years in length it is different
from the tribulation period because during it the Antichrist will be revealed and the wrath of God will greatly intensify so it is important at this point to say that the tribulation and the Great Tribulation are not synonymous terms within eschatology which is simply the study of future things the tribulation refers to the full 7-year period while the Great Tribulation refers to the second half of the tribulation it is Christ himself who used the phrase Great Tribulation with reference to the last half of the tribulation in Matthew 24:21 which we referenced earlier in this verse Jesus
is referring to the event of Matthew 24:15 which describes the revealing of the abomination of desolation the man also known as the Antichrist also Jesus in Matthew 24: 2930 States immediately after the tribulation of those days the son of man will appear in the sky and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn and they will see the son of man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great Glory In this passage Jesus defines the Great Tribulation as beginning with the revealing of the abomination of desolation and ending with Christ's Second
Coming Daniel 12:1 says and there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time it seems that Jesus was quoting this verse when he spoke the words recorded in Matthew 24:21 also referring to the Great Tribulation is Jeremiah 37 alas for that day is great there is none like it and it is the time of Jacob's distress but he will be saved from it the phrase Jacob's distress refers to the nation of Israel which will experience persecution and natural disasters such as have never before been seen
considering the information Christ gave us in Matthew 24:15 to30 it is easy to conclude that the beginning of the Great Tribulation happens with the abomination of desolation an action of the Antichrist in Daniel 9:26 to 27 we find that this man will make a covenant a peace packed with the world for 7 years halfway through the 7-year period we are told this man will break the Covenant he made stopping sacrifice and grain offering which specifically refers to his actions in the rebuilt Temple of the future Revelation 13110 gives even more detail concerning the beast's actions
and just as important it also verifies the length of time he will be in power Revelation 13:5 says he will be in power for 42 months which is 3 and 1/2 years the length of the Great Tribulation so we know that the tribulation lasts 7 years and 3 and 1/2 years into it the Great Tribulation will begin marked by the announcement of the Antichrist but what happens during the first three and a half years of the tribulation let's go back to Chapters 5 and six of Revelation these chapters cover the story of The Four Horsemen
beginning with the scroll and the lamb starting from chapter 5 verse1 it says then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with Seven Seals and I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll but no one in heaven or on Earth or under the Earth could open the scroll or even look inside it did you know that ancient Scrolls were read horizontally not vertically the scroll John saw was one
of such and it was a very interesting piece of text this is why the rolls of the scroll were on the left and the right and the writing lay in narrow columns about written on a substance somewhat like brown paper the scroll was held in the left hand and unrolled with the right as the reading went on the previously read portion was rerolled on such a typical scroll The Book of Revelation would fill a scroll 15 ft long this explains why those ancient Scrolls were usually bound with seals and rolled up so that if anyone
was to read it they had to break the seal and unroll it however concerning this particular scroll in Jon's Vision no one was found John says I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look ins aside why was he so sad what was it about this scroll that made John weep this much what was written in this scroll through the centuries commentators suggest many different ideas for what this scroll is and what was written upon it we will go through five of them and examine them for
why they're wrong the first set of people think the scroll was either the Old Testament or the Old and New Testaments together or even fulfilled prophecy but this is not true because these Visions look back not forward and John wrote of things which must take place in the future like we said earlier additionally if the scroll was the old or new testament who is unworthy to open that scroll another set of people think the scroll was God's claim of divorce against Israel but there is little scriptural evidence for this idea and who is unworthy to
open that scroll besides God signed a pact of Everlasting Love and Union with Israel when he made a covenant with them some think the scroll was God's sentence against the enemies of the church perhaps this is true but only in an indirect sense and even if it were who is unworthy to open that scroll some think the scroll was the text of the Book of Revelation or the next few chapters but this is rather unlikely considering how the idea of the scroll is communicated and who would be unworthy to open that that scroll some think
the scroll was the title deed to planet Earth this is an attractive idea especially because the coming time of tribulation will end with Jesus ruling on Earth but it is hard to demonstrate this with certainty there is no doubt that the Earth is the Lords though the governments of this world belong to Satan because of the Fall if God has to get the title deed back when did God ever lose the title deed to planet Earth in fact god holds this scroll it isn't lost but the scroll must be opened it must be revealed the
best solution is to see the scroll as God's will his final settlement of the Affairs of the universe this is based on the idea that customarily under Roman law Wills were to be sealed with Seven Seals and each seal was to be from a witness who could testify that the will was valid Clark a popular theolog once said the book May mean the purposes and designs of God relative to his government of the world and the church but we whose habitation is in the dust know nothing of such things we are however determined to guess
the seven sealed book therefore is the comprehensive program of God culminating in the second coming of Christ remember the emphasis is not on the content of the scroll but on its seals and the one who is worthy to take it there was no answer to the strong Angel's challenge because the creation is utterly incapable of deciding or affecting its own destiny John wept either because a previous promise to see the future may now be denied or more likely because the consumation of History would now be indefinitely postponed to look upon the scroll one must have
the right to open the scroll and possess it and no creature with was found worthy but thankfully Jesus came through then one of the elders said to Meo not weep see the lion of the tribe of Judah the root of David has triumphed he is able to open the scroll and its Seven Seals the lamb here refers to Jesus Christ who is the Lamb of God when he had taken it the four living creatures and the 24 Elders fell down before him and worshiped wholeheartedly in fact John saw all of creation joined the rejoicing then
I heard every creature in heaven and on Earth and under the Earth and on the sea and all that is in them saying to him who sits on the throne and to the lamb be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever the four living creatures said amen and the elders fell down and worshiped now what does this mysterious scroll have to do with the four horsemen let's skip to the next chapter to answer that I John what watched as the lamb opened the first of the Seven Seals from chapter 5 we understand
this scroll is the history and Destiny of mankind and creation and only Jesus the lamb had the right to loosen the seals on this scroll about the end of time if the scroll talks about the end point of History then the events that happened because of the removal of the seals must occur before the events within the scroll do this means the opening of the seal is not the Fulfillment of History itself but the preparation for it the actual end point of history is in Revelation 19 so what do these Seven Seals represent the Seven
Seals are part of the many judgments that God will release upon the Earth in John's Vision as each seal is broken a new judgment is Unleashed on the earth John goes on to say then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder come I looked and there before me was a white horse its Rider held a bow and he was given a crown and he rode out as a conqueror bent on Conquest if we were to take interpretational Clues more from movies rather than the Bible it would be easy
to believe the rider on the White Horse is Jesus like some say actually Jesus does return on a white horse in Revelation 1911 to16 but this particular horse rider is not Jesus Jesus but a satanic dictator who imitates Jesus this first Horseman had a crown which means he had Rule and he ruled with a bow not a sword exercising dominion over the Earth conquering but the results of his rule as described in the following verses show clearly that this is not the reign of Jesus the whole context and character of these seals absolutely forbid our
thinking of this Rider being the Lord Jesus Jesus reign shall not bring War famine and strife in its train if this Horseman isn't Jesus then who is he there are certain clues in the text that we can break down to decipher who this Horseman is the first is that he rides on a horse and he carries a bow this bow has a deeper meaning the Old Testament pictures the bow as a symbol of military power hosea: 15 says on that day I will break Israel's bow in the valley of Jezreel in this context bow means
military prowess the rider on the White Horse has great military power there will be no country or nation that can match this power because of this many people will not want to resist him in fact many will give into him and buy into his idea but God's people will resist with flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the Covenant but the people who know their God will firmly resist him because of these things we can suggest that this man that will come forth is the Antichrist he will deceive the world into believing him to
be a savior he will mimic Christ who will also be riding a white horse at his coming he is given a crown and he rides out as a conqueror bent on getting Victory the crown he wears is called estefanos the Victor's Crown whereas the crown upon the head of Christ in Revelation 1912 is diadema the Royal Crown and the crown of authority how will this Rider the Antichrist conquer the Antichrist Will Conquer through his big talk making himself out to be a savior Messiah and a god conquering through deception by claiming to solve the problems
of the world his mask will come off later as he brings about war during the second Horseman of the Apocalypse there is a devastating event that will expose him as the Antichrist and not the savior of the world Daniel prophesied about this once in the Book of Daniel 8:25 when he warns about a man who would come onto the world scene there was once a man called Antiochus epiphanies a successor of Alexander the Great Antiochus epiphanies ruled over Syria and Israel's land under the cusd dynasty he is important in this discussion because the prophecy in
this passage reads equally true of both Antiochus and anti Christ this is an example of a prophetic passage that has both a near and far fulfillment in many ways Antiochus typified the Antichrist who is the first horseman in our discussion let's look at some of these similarities Antiochus epiphanies was known for his cruel brutality flattery and smooth tongue this will also be true of the coming Antichrist he will strike a covenant with Israel using sweet talk and a promise of better Universal government Antiochus epiphanies was empowered by Satan and Allowed by God he looked like
a winner until God toppled his Reign the same will be true of the coming Antichrist Antiochus epiphanies not only destroyed his enemies but also harshly persecuted the people of God the coming Antichrist will also destroy and persecute both the rule of Antiochus epiphanies in the past and of the Antichrist in the future are marked by deceit and extreme arrogance the coins of Antiochus epiphanies were inscribed with this title Theos epiphanies meaning God manifest the coming Antichrist will also exalt himself so that he sits as God in the temple of God showing himself that he is
God history tells us that Antiochus epiphanies died of disease not by the hand of man in a similar way no man will defeat the coming Antichrist but the hand of Jesus will strike him down these similarities help us understand the actions of the Antichrist as he appears on the scene next let's see who the second Horseman really was when the lamb opened the second seal I heard the second living creature say come then another horse came out a fiery red one its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people
kill each other he was given a large sword the breaking of the second seal is talking about war this man of Peace the Antichrist after he takes power will bring about a series of conflicts and we can compare this to Jesus teaching to his disciples on the Mount of Olives when he said you will hear of wars and rumors of wars but see to it that you are not alarmed such things must happen but the end is still to come Nation will rise against Nation and Kingdom against Kingdom actually there is a striking similarity between
what Jesus said in Matthew 24 and what John records about these horses let us consider these deeper meanings in Matthew 24 the disciples asked Jesus what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age Jesus answered watch out that no one deceives you for many will come in my name claiming I am the Christ and will deceive many the first thing Jesus talked about concerning the signs of the times is that a high level of deception would be at work in the world how true is that of the days that
we are living in there are so many voices and people do not know what or who to believe can you see the stage being set for someone to come and provide answers and leadership in a crisis people in every nation are longing for the truth and seeking answers the Antichrist will provide what the people are clamoring for however Jesus already warned us ahead from the outset Jesus warned the disciples that many would be deceived as they anticipated his return there have been times in the history of the church when rash predictions were made and then
relied upon resulting in great disappointment disillusionment and falling away one notable example of this was the prophetic expectation in 1844 with William Miller in the United States because of his prophetic interpretations calculations and Publications there were hundreds of thousands in the United States who were convinced that Jesus would return in 1844 when he did not there was great disappointment with some falling away and some cultic groups spawned from the prophetic fervor there are many more of these kinds of prophecies and even false christs that have happened can you mention one that you can remember we
can see how the scene is being set in our day for events that the scriptures tell us are yet to come the inference for us here is To Be watchful and careful to take jesus' warning and heed to it do not be deceived and do not fall away let's turn now to the breaking of the third seal when the lamb opened the third seal I heard the third living creature say come I looked and there before me was a black horse its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand then I heard what
sounded like a voice among the four living creatures saying two lounds of wheat for a day's wages and six lound of barley for a day's wages and do not damage the oil and the wine the third Horseman of the Apocalypse portrays a Great Famine that will take place food is scarce and prices are inflated Beyond Reason the command to spare the oil and the wine seems to signify that the luxuries oil and wine will still be available during the famine but the Staples will not that means there will still be societal classes even in the
midst of this famine the result of all the wars at the beginning of the end times and all the wars during the second Horsemen is that famine begins to take hold on the earth how will this happen during Wars today sophisticated weapons are being used used such as nuclear weapons these weapons do not just affect humans but the Earth too the famine could be as a result of nuclear weapon Fallout spreading over fields and destroying crops asides War the famine could also be artificial governments and individuals who want to be globalists will seek control of
food and this could also cause this famine famine might also be the result of using food control to force people to take theone Ark of the Beast Revelation 1316 to17 says it also forced all people Great and Small rich and poor free and slave to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark which is the name of the Beast or the number of its name whatever the cause a day's wage will only manage to buy enough food for the day
for a small family the pair of scales used represents food being weighed and rationed meaning that food will be so scarce it will have to be distributed when the lamb opened the fourth seal I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say come I looked and there before me was a Pale Horse its rider was named death and Hades was following close behind him they were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword famine and plague and by the wild beasts of of the Earth the fourth Horsemen of the Apocalypse
is symbolic of death and Devastation the horse's pale color in the original language is literally pale green or yellowish green signifies sickness and death the fourth Horsemen of the Apocalypse will bring further Warfare and terrible famines along with awful plagues diseases and attacks by wild animals a fourth of the world's population will die when the fourth seal is opened we see that four different things acting together wipe out a quarter of Earth's population which is currently over 8 billion people the four things causing death on a massive scale are sword famine pestilence or plague and
the wild beasts of the earth accompanied by persecution the Greek word translated into English as pale for the color of the fourth horse is chloros from which we get such English words as chlorine chlorop form and chlorophyll the term describes a greenish yellow color that is characteristic of a decomposing corpse permission is given for a fourth of the population of the Earth to be killed by the sword famine plague and wild beasts the rider on the back of the horse is named death which is another unique characteristic as it is the only Rider that is
named like we earlier explained the Greek word translated into English is the common word for death still this term could also be meant as death through pestilence or disease this fourth Horse and Rider brings death by pestilence or plague let's think about each of the things that happen at the opening of the fourth seal first the passage states that some are killed by the sword asides that the sword signifies death through violent means killed by sword would then mean that a level of violence would be going on resulting in people killing one another possibly because
of a breakdown of civil order due to a lack of food some have openly proposed a plan of intentional depopulation citing an ideal number of half a billion people from the 1960s some key World players have begun to focus on what they saw as the problems of an exploding population growth they believed that overpopulation was the primary cause of Environmental degrad ation economic underdevelopment and political instability it may be possible that world leaders would try to reduce their populations by using any means at their disposal the famine that started at the third seal is also
continuing and the plague also adds to the death of a quarter of the population what could the epidemic be is this a further virus that breaks out on the earth what would happen if a more virulent pestilence or plague were to come food supply to the affected areas will be greatly reduced thus causing the famine to be worse our passage in Revelation also talks about people killed by wild beasts how can that be possible in our day in the Old Testament God warned Israel that if they were unfaithful to him he would release four categories
of death upon them he said in Ezekiel 1413 to 21 my four Dreadful judgments sword and famine and wild beasts and plague to kill its men and their animals while this passage May refer to wild animals there may be another interpretation of this word the Greek word used is theion and although it is mainly used for Animals it could also be indicative of people who have let their inner Beast nature dominate their lives to such a degree that they behave like wild beasts when people dominated by selfish greed or hunger find themselves back into a
corner they will act in a predatory manner out of a beast-like need for preservation especially in a time of famine when men find it difficult to feed their families consider the two scriptures below that speak of Men Behaving like beasts Psalm 574 I am in the midst of lions I lie among ravenous beasts men whose teeth are Spears and arrows whose tongues are sharp swords set Peter 2:12 12 but these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand they are like brute beasts creatures of instinct born only to be caught and destroyed and like beasts
they too will perish The Four Horsemen have interesting applications to our lives today in fact the whole of the Apocalypse tells us something it tells us in clear terms that God is just he will not tolerate sin to any degree not will he compromise his standards for any reason we can also see the unrelenting love of God through these things God could as well cast everyone into the Lake of Fire immediately after the Rapture happens but the tribulation period is an extra period of Mercy for those who through suffering will come to realize the error
of rejecting Jesus as Messiah those who refuse to take the mark of the beast will eventually join God's kingdom although they will go through intense levels of pain and persecution for choosing Jesus what is most interesting or perhaps terrifying is that the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are just precursors of even worse judgments that come later in the tribulation however our response as Believers should be what Apostle Paul describes in 1 Thessalonians 5 in addressing their behavior he simply told the Thessalonian Christians that they should be who they are and he said says the same
to us too God has made us sons of the light and Sons of the day the time when we were of the night or of the darkness is in the past so now we simply have to live up to what God has made us what does that mean he goes ahead to explain by saying this day should not overtake you as a thief Paul means that this should not happen for the believer who lives according to their nature as a son of light and Son of the day we believers should and will be ready for
the return of Jesus Christ in some respect the coming of Jesus will be a surprise for everybody because no one knows the day or the hour but for Christians who know the times and the seasons it will not be a complete surprise no one knows the exact hour a thief will come but some live in a general preparation against thieves those who are not in darkness who live as they are all sons of Light and Sons of the day these are ready for the return of Jesus but if we are in darkness perhaps caught up
in some of the sin Paul warned against previously in this letter then we are not ready and need to make ourselves ready for the return of Jesus because we do not belong to the night nor of Darkness our spiritual condition should never be marked by Sleep spiritually speaking we need to be active and aware to watch and be sober Paul used a different word in the this letter for sleep than the one used for death for the sleep of death in 1 Thessalonians 4:13 and the word sleep is here used metaphorically to denote indifference to
spiritual realities on the part of Believers it covers all sorts of moral and spiritual looseness and indifference sleep speaks of ignorance sleep speaks of insensibility sleep speaks of no defense sleep speaks of inactivity in a sermon on this text titled awake awake Spurgeon showed the Folly and tragedy of the sleeping Christian with three powerful metaphors the first one is about a city which suffers under a plague with an official walking the streets crying out Bring Out The Dead bring out the Dead all the while a doctor with the Cure in his pocket sleeps the second
is about a passenger ship which reels under a storm and is about to crash on the Rocks bringing near certain death to the hundreds of passengers meanwhile the captain sleeps the third talks of a prisoner in his cell who is about ready to be led to execution his heart is terrified at the thought of hanging from his neck terrified of death and of what awaits him after death all the while a man with a letter of Pardon for The Condemned man sits in another room and sleeps Apostle Paul also admonishes us to be Sober Sober
doesn't mean humorless it has in mind someone who knows the proper value of things and therefore doesn't get too excited about the things of this world the person who lives his or her life for fun and entertainment isn't sober in commanding sobriety Paul didn't have in mind the sort of people who stamped down all enthusiasm and excitement for Jesus promoting what they think is a more balanced way to live Paul himself was an enthusiastic follower of Jesus and was often accused of Rel religious fanaticism so as Believers our mindset in these last days is to
be sober and watchful diligently doing what he has committed to us that we may bear much fruits as we wait for the coming of our Master if you found value in this video please like and share what you think in the comments there's more amazing content coming so click subscribe to make sure you don't miss out meanwhile you can click on any of the videos on the screen to learn more about scripture thanks for watching and may the Lord bless and guide your day
