what if I told you that it's easier to make a lot of money in a short period of time than it is to make a little money over a long period of time what if I told you it's easier to get in shape sooner rather than later what if I told you that it's easier to do 10x than it is to do 2x because and I'm going to not only am I going to prove that to you I've got the guy who wrote the book on it with us today on YouTube Dr Benjamin Hardy co-author
of 10x is easier than 2x one of the most brilliant people I've ever met and I am glad to have him talking to you today about whatever Concepts he's going to bring I don't know if it's going to be 10x is easier than 2x the uh be be your future self now the Gap in the gain slipstream I don't know the guy has so many mind-blowing Concepts that will help you like Quantum Leap your life that you might want to lean in and grab a pen and piece of paper Dr Ben glad to have you
on today sir how are you I'm fantastic I always love chilling with you my man that's that's a two-way street brother that's a way street we've had some pretty epic conversations so you wrote the book 10x is easier than 2x you and Dan Sullivan but I like I know that you were the researcher behind most of the principles etc etc so talk to us about like I I know when people hear 10x is easier than the 2x because a lot of people 10x is one of those Buzz phrases that a lot of people use just
because it sounds good but you don't do that you're like literally showing people how to 10x their life in an easier way than it takes to twox their lives talk to us about that that all right man do you care if I uh I no how much how much how much time do you want to give me do you want to give me two minutes or do you want give me 10 minutes do your thing you all right let me let me let me show you guys let me tell you guys a quick story and
and I'm gonna make this super easy for you I think I can share my screen right yep I think so Larry can he share his screen I want to I want to show you guys something because this is even simpler than you guys think okay check this we're we we hope you can share your screen cuz it's not I I got it I think okay he thinks he's got it tell me if you guys can see it if not I'll just bag the screen not yet can you see my screen oh now I think we
can see something whenever you're ready whenever you're ready you can share all right so I want to tell you guys I want to tell you guys a story exactly what myin was saying so this is a guy named Matt Matt is a business owner in South Carolina in Charleston South Carolina all right he owns a property management company I did a 60-day challenge where I taught hundreds of entrepreneurs how to achieve goals that they thought were impossible I'm going to teach you that model and me and Myon are going to talk about it because he
lives this 247 but I just want you guys to understand it took him two years to grow the company to having 60 properties under management what I mean by that is if if my rown five houses which I know he probably owns more but if myON owns Five houses Matt would manage those for him so that myON doesn't have to think about him so he joined the challenge I did a 60-day challenge November 1st to January 1 the last two months of the year the the purpose was to help Matt achieve a goal that he
thought was impossible so what he did was he set the goal to have 500 properties under management 60 days later so that was almost a 10x in just two months and you got to remember if took him two years to get to 60 so here's the main thing and there's a few main things here one he went to his team and immediately said guys we're doing this what do you guys think this is one of the benefits of impossible goals what the researchers say is is that they completely shatter assumptions they shatter all of your
team's assumptions about what what they think is possible but also what goal would Matt have set if he hadn't set this one what he would have said is probably a what I'll call a linear goal maybe they would have gone for like 70 or 80 in those two month not not to get 70 or 80 but to have 70 or 80 they would have just gone for a small goal what would that have done for his team's mindset almost nothing so what happened was obviously to get to 500 in that short of a time they
could not do it the same way they got to 60 how they got to 60 was adding people with one property at a time maybe three or four obviously you can't do that to get here here's pretty much what happened they ended with 320 two months later and how they did it was is that they changed what they were looking for and that's one of the key reasons why you go for 10x goals or impossible goals is because they start to move your attention away from what you're focused on and help you find better ways
and they started finding people with hundreds of properties um now here's the here's kind of the kicker here's where I want to kind of kick it and then um I'll just show you a picture and then myin you just push me in whatever directions you want to go but check this out months later so in February they lost their what was their biggest client they got one of like I'll call it a big fat like a whale you know they got a awesome guy with 160 houses they lost him because this guy just happened to
have loyalty to his old buddy who managed the old property so now they go backwards but also to get to that 320 Matt added two awesome people to the team and he so he he invested big in the goal and so before that he had two now he had four and now with losing this guy and having two new members of the team he was in the red 20 grand a month and so he went to his team and he basically said guys since we just lost this this this like half of our half of
our business and now I have two new amazing people on the team we're now in the red 20 grand I'm giving you an ultimatum you have two choices I will give you the best severance package you have ever seen pay for the next two months and you go and find a different job or we must get to 500 in the next two months or else I'm closing this business and so none of the people left this is part of what I'll call transformational leadership transformational leadership is giving your people goals that they think are impossible
if you have goals that are small your PE first off you won't have the right people because the wrong people want to be on a team where they can just say themselves the right people want to go and Achieve huge things and so anyways the team recommitted and literally less than a week later they had 1500 under management the all the most timid of those four on his team he went and found someone with a thousand properties huge you know very successful man had lunch with him and recruited him and uh you know he joined
plus they got a few others and so literally now they have, 1500 properties under management and I asked him what's your Q2 impossible goal because this was all back in March and now they're going for 5,000 but think about it they just one at 1,000 now they're looking for and creating that new capability wow and so and so let me just give one more quick thing I'm going to oh well here you go look you can never change things by fighting the existing reality to change something you have to build a new model that makes
the existing model obsolete what I'm telling you guys is the new model is the 10x goal or the impossible goal that's the only way that you can disrupt things so let me just show you do you care if I just show one other quick thing and then my and you we go wherever you want you don't have to be in a hurry doc all right well look at this I want so look at this this is the framework of this book it's frame floor and focus and I want you guys to understand this first your
framework is your thesis this is your operating system it's it's you know their thesis changed their thesis was we're going to get to 500 in 60 days we don't know how we're going to do it but we're going to find a way to do it but we know we can't do it by doing it how we did before and then your floor becomes your system and your strategy we know that their floor went through the roof when I say floor I mean when you go for impossible goals the floor goes so high and much much
of what you're doing goes below that floor so finding people with one two three properties went below the floor and they had to start saying no to that they couldn't keep doing what their old selves did so they had to build a new system for getting people with hundreds of properties um but they couldn't go below that floor and then ultimately the focus is the actual execution so here's one way of looking at it your frame is what you see your floor is what you do and your focus is the results you get um and
it and a lot of people have a bad conversation about process or results you hear people say all the time focus on the process but ignore the results myON here's a funny question for you what actually is the process what is your thoughts on what is the process process for what well you you know the conversation where people say focus on the process but ignore the results mhm okay okay that that's really uh the process is you figuring out how to get the results that's all the process is is you actually adap adapting and figuring
out the results so again frame is the way you see things and Define what you see I just want to show you one thing right here I'm actually just going to go here okay there's a million options in the world and think about that company that I just showed you and everyone listening to this this is your frame your frame determines what you see and if you're going for small goals there's a thousand ways to get there this is what we talked about in 10x is easier than 2x if you make the goal impossible and
I'm telling you it should feel impossible you don't know how to get there this is the floor almost nothing you were doing before can get you there and you have to find and figure out those new ways that was his team finding people with hundreds of properties or now thousands but you will not find these if your attention is bottled up with this so let me just share one or two quotes literally on the science of impossible goals so in in the psychological literature they actually call it stretch goals which is a terrible term it's
a weak term but look we Define a stretch goal as an organizational goal with an objective probability of attainment that may be unknown but is seemingly impossible given the current capabilities but check this out stretch goals involve an extreme redefinition of what an organization is capable of being or achieving because they do they Rec they they capture shift and refocus your attention onto those better Pathways according to Russo where performance expectations are elevated Way Beyond the limits of past experience and where previously successful Frameworks right your frame and your thesis where these are questioned revised
or discarded prior prior experience is often a poor guide to stretch goal achievement and this shifts performers attention away from old routines and onto new and creative approaches so I'm going to go ahead and stop there uh because I talked too much myON what's your take okay first of all where do we go from here first of all when you said where do we go from here that's funny when you said that when you have an impossible goal it shifts your attention like I don't even think I think I think that slipped past people because
the principle there's a principle where attention goes intention follows and in so you're one of the reasons people are doing 2X or like achieving 2X or incremental results is because their attention is on 2x processes which means their intention is set on doing those things so when you shift what you're focused on when you change what you're focused on it changes everything so it does it changes like it's it it changes like everything frames create Focus that's why they exist we put a frame around a picture so we can focus on what's in the picture
and so and what I yeah go ahead well I just I think I think what you said about it's shifting your attention is brilliant and And Then There are a million ways to grow incrementally but to grow exponentially to have that 10x goal or even 100x goal or whatever cuz it's the cuz a 10x goal that gets 10x next is a THX goal right and so so the the thing that causes that is you you you don't do more of those million things you only do those few things that are at the top that can
achieve that that quote impossible goal yeah so I'm going to tell you something that I know you're going to like and I know your audience is going to like so Elon Musk so there there's other there's other quotes from the research that I can show but one of the things that they say is that impossible goals shatter your assumptions they shatter your assumptions they break your assumptions not only on what you can be and Achieve but on on on how to do things and one of the things that Elon no so so so there's two
things that happen the first thing is yes they reallocate your attention to finding new and better Pathways but the second one is they literally shatter they actually create they call it an intentional identity crisis cuz your setting yourself up to say Frick I know I can't do this and I know now that I'm way below the floor cuz I you know I'm um so it actually it it it shatters everything you're doing in a good way if you're flexible and then it forces you to go fine that's the new attention one of the things that
Elon Musk says which is really interesting is this he says that most people are optimizing things that should not exist and no listen listen to this listen to this listen to this that's great no and I'll tell you why listen if you're going for a linear goal if you're going for a 2X goal a small goal most of what you're doing and most of the system you're building is towards things that if you were going for an impossible goal those things would now all go below the floor and you'd have to eliminate them but because
your goal is too small you're investing all sorts of energy into things that should not exist and would not exist uh if you had just gone for the bigger goal that would shatter the assumption and so let me give an example I I was coaching a guy who has these huge dreams huge dreams and he said it's going to take me 20 years to do it Dr Hardy and I said okay cool I hope you realize and I was telling him I hope you realize time isn't a reality time is a tool so if you're
setting up a 20-year time frame that's just based on your perspective of time what if we took that 20-year goal and we made it three I said whatat would you have to do if we did it in three years we realized first off most of the things he thought were required to achieve the goal he'd have to let go of he'd have to cut the fat on at least 80% of what he assumed was required to achieve the goal and he'd have to then go and find those better ways let me give myself as an
example if and I'm just using myself my goal is to sell 10 million books right plus and so you and I have different goals but if I if I give myself 10 years to do it I could justify a lot of things in the 10 years but if I give myself only three years to do it a lot of the things that I was optimizing will have to be discarded one example for me actually is a YouTube channel um the YouTube channel for me if I had 10 years I could justify keeping a YouTube channel
but if I only have three years to achieve my goal which is very specific to me which is uh 10 million books I can no longer justify that I can no longer optimize that thing which for my goal no longer should cease to you know should no longer exist and so it's all it's all very specific our own goals but once you kick the goal to that 10x or that 100x level so good most most of what you're currently optimizing for you got of you got to get rid of it wow okay I'm telling you
I'm telling you are you going to send cleanup crew are you going to send a cleanup crew cuz you have blown our minds and there's like there's like brain particles all over the floor so I see that I see that there are 600 people live on there I would argue you know given the 10x versus 2x framework at least 80% of those 617 eyeballs or whatever 80% of their lives and I'm talking it's it's you got to raise the floor so high but 80% or more of your life is optimizing things that should not exist
and if you raised the goal they would not exist wow that is so good on so many levels because when I think about my own life I think about all of the things that on my journey that everybody else thought were normal but I just eliminated I'm just no I'm no I'm I don't want to go to the game I don't want to celebrate the holiday I don't want to watch television I don't want to watch movies I don't want to listen to music I want to do what I'm doing I want to fix this
part of my life at the expense of everything else so when I get that done then as Jim Ron says money isn't everything but if you get your money problems solved fairly early you can get to all your other problems in style right right I'm with you I'm with you brother I'm with you so so so that's that's so good doc so good you just made my brain sweat a lot so so here here let me give can I give you one more example please do so check this out I was just barely in Cancun
uh currently in Vegas hilariously um but uh I I was just in Cancun last weekend doing a training on a bunch of small business owners and listen to this so one thing you got to realize everyone in here is that from a eological standpoint the past and the future aren't realities they're tools and when you get better and better at framing right the idea of framing the past then your present is liberated um a lot of people they've got unresolved trauma and things like that when you frame the past better your present immediately gets better
because the past present and future psychologically are are all co-occurring but this is why the future is also a tool the future is a tool literally for disrupting your present and for redirecting it and so when you have a small future then what that means is you actually took the present and used that present to create the future that's not the way to do it you actually take your future and you use that to to recreate your present and so and so that's why I said to the guy look 20 years is a bad tool
like that the future is just a tool for making better decisions in the present let's make it three and that's going to really change your direction well let me give a smaller example that may be really helpful so there was I'm going to give two really basic examples one was a woman who her business is doing a million dollar a year and her goal for 2024 is to get it up to 2 million so she wants to 2x in in 2024 and she just hired a phenomenal salesperson and that salesperson's the objective is that salesperson
is going to kick them above the 2 million well I asked her I said is your like I said what is your new who right your new salesperson what do they think of the $2 million goal that you have and this this woman actually admitted she said said you know he was actually surprised because when he came in and he looked at the like the contract he was surprised that for himself there was no there was no compensation above 1.5 million like he was expecting that if he himself sold 2 million or more he'd start
getting really good you know compensation but the entrepreneur's goal was 2 million by itself and so I said I said your vision is too small for your who like that that awesome Rockstar that you just hired is going to leave your team because your goal's too small I said what would happen if you changed your goal from 2 million to 4 million this year what would that what would that new person on your team say she's like oh my gosh he would be so excited but listen but but but listen to this if she kept
her goal 2 million that who would be limited and probably leave and he would be he would not thinking back on attention he would not go find the big opportunities like the story told you at the beginning Matt's people went and found opportunities they would have never found that woman on his team would have never found the Thousand person house like the Thousand person that would have never happened if the goal was to get to like 150 right um and so she changed her goal made it a lot bigger and then used that goal to
stretch her who rather than limit her who which most entrepreneurs are limiting their who's I'll give one more quick example a different guy in that same room has a business and he did 2.2 2 million last year his business did 2.2 million and I said what's your goal for this year he said I want to get to 3.5 million he had two salespeople on his team uh and again every business is a little different but I said okay so your goal this year is to get to 3.5 million what's your goal for next year he
says I want to get to five next year I said okay remember time is a tool it's not a reality so what would happen if you took your 2025 goal and you made it your 2024 goal what would happen if you took that to your team and said guys we're not going to get to 20 we're not going to 5 million next year we're actually going to 5 million this year and I need you guys to figure out how to do it remember go above the floor and find those better Pathways I said what would
happen to your team he said this one of the salespeople would be through the roof excited because he he has big money goals himself and he really wants to stretch he said our other one would probably quit I said why would your other one quit he said cuz that would be way too stressful for them that level of growth would be way too stressful for them I said oh wow that's really good information how funny is it that just by simply changing the goal you get that much information that you should probably let go that
who now but you would have just kicked that c down the road so so remember the future is a tool for disrupting the present and then and then helping your people achieve impossible goals wow okay most people are not transformational leaders though myin their goals are too small and they're not helping their people stretch into impossible goals and finding those much better Pathways so so good doc so good this is why I invited you to come and speak at offer Mastery live next week or week after next because the level of clarity that you bring
to these Concepts is gamechanging it's gamechanging I'm a relatively intelligent guy dude you are you are on the max level for people I've met my man you are on the max level for people you're every time I every time I talk to you I'm just like dude you just changed it for me I love talking to you brother that's that's that's a two-way street that's a two-way street you make my brain sweat like it's at the gym I'm telling you it's great um so when you're talking about time being a tool it reminds me of
your book slipstream can you share one or two of the most important Concepts from the book slipstream with these folks um so that they can understand I and and I know in a couple of your books you talked about you don't use your you don't use your past to Define your present you use your present to Define your past but you use your future to Define your present and so anyway just let me show them I I'll show them graphically and that be perfect that be perfect yeah I'll explain this so it's really important that
you all start to operate from what all call uh Einstein time rather than Newtonian time okay so what's the give give me the definition of both so the people watching can know what you mean so you know Newton's time Newton viewed time as absolute and so he believed that time was the same for everyone in every situation if your hands on a on a hot stove that's the same as if you're in a flow State like you know like if your hands on a stove it that that that 5 Seconds feels like five hours right
and that's really where Einstein started to think about time differently um so I just this this is the more Newtonian perspective and the Newtonian perspective is what I'll call a sequential or a linear model time and what this means is is that the past determines the present and the present determines the future and it doesn't take a a scientist to see what the leading Domino is the leading Domino is the past and the past literally drives and determines the present and and what it does and actually a lot of psychologists and even neuroscientists who operate
with this view of time they believe that human beings have zero free will because there's no evidence of it from this perspective of time um but the these views have actually been shattered not only by Einstein but even by modern you know positive Psychology and Neuroscience I just want everyone to know two big things here when you let the past determine the present the present is in the past in your seat you have not you don't have a lot of control and you really can't do anything about the past but also what happens with this
view is is that you use the present as the basis for the future you create and so what that does is is that your future looks really similar to your present even 10 years away most people are letting the present determine the future so this is the this is sorry this is the more this is the more accurate psychological model so rather than letting the pre uh the past determine the present it's always the present that determines the meaning of the past always it's always the present that determines what the past is and what it
means and this is is where you start to turn the past into an asset rather than the liability this is where you take the last few weeks as an example it's kind of like gratitude you really have to train yourself to see it because in the beginning a lot of people don't know how to create gratitude they don't realize that gratitude isn't found it's created um so if I ask my children so good if you yeah it's like if I ask my children what you know at the end of the day what are you grateful
for they don't know what they're grateful for and so I've got to help them like actually look at the day differently and reconstruct the memory that's what memory is is it's a reconstruction all right let's reconstruct the day look at it and say what are you what what did happen that you could be grateful for and so that's actually a skill but when you get really good at this when you get really good at the past you continuously frame it in such a way that no matter what happened it's benefiting you in the present and
that's really how you want to do it um remember the past and the future are just tools for having a better present and so if I for example uh am framing the last few months as uh it it and this is what happened actually recently I was training a leadership team and they're not trending towards their goal for the year and so as a result we were doing a training on their q1 and looking at their q1 progress and and their leader was like it was a horrible quarter we didn't achieve what we're were trying
to achieve we're not on track for our goals and I was like my man this is not how you frame the past I said we need to really dissect what happened in q1 because remember we're operating towards the impossible goals let's actually look at what happened and when we actually looked at what happened his team had made such progress in q1 if you compared what they were doing in q1 to all of what they were doing in 2023 they were making big moves their their results hadn't kicked in yet but they they had changed the
game and they were letting go of so many things that were their former processes of last year and I can tell you that we're already starting to see the results of what were what they were doing in q1 but they weren't framing for that and so they were discounting it and so part of the leader objective is to continuously create evidence and show evidence from the past even in the last 24 hours what's the evidence that we're making massive moves towards our future self so in simple terms and I'll just kind of quickly sum it
up the present determines the past but it's also the future that determines the present it's always the future that determines the present and when you start going for impossible goals myin you bring the future to the present and and that's when you can start to and one of the one of the big ideas from Einstein obviously is is that time is relative this is why this is really important what time relativity means is is that the faster you go towards a desired destination literally the slower time goes time speeds and slows up and you know
that's why time you know time isn't time isn't absolute like Newtonian thought like Newton thought time is relative time so think about it this way if you myin could make a million dollar in 24 hours and I know you can even do it in less than that but someone else it takes them 24 years your time is 365 well actually wait you do it in one day they do it in one year your time is 365 times slower what I mean by that is is you can you can make you can travel the same distance
in a day as someone can it takes them a here and so and so that's when your time slows down and you can actually live longer whereas now they're years and decades passed by and you just live it's it's weird but this is why for for let me give the example this is exactly what I talked about in my Bible study yesterday kind of I mean it's mind-blowing like yesterday go ahead I'm just well but this is this is why people this is why you got to let you got to raise the floor and you
got to let go of your old system what I mean by the old system is the your system everyone everyone system right now is their floor and their floor is what they consistently say yes and no to um so and most people's floor is way lower than they think it is like they say yes on a daily basis to things you were listing before blowing hours on social media and stuff and so people's floor is more based on their past than their future when you start committing to The Impossible goal the floor goes so high
that you got to let go of all that stuff and all that stuff below the floor what I'll call the 80% that's the stuff that speeds up your time the stuff in the 20% or the stuff up there that's the stuff that slows time and when I say slows time what I really mean think about that example of Matt that I gave earlier he achieved 5x in 60 days as they did in two years so those 60 days were rapid progress and so this is why this is why you really need to take you know
the guy I gave as an example of he had a 20year goal and I said dude 20 years I don't want you to lose 20 years on this goal let's find the better ways of doing it in three or less and then those three years are going to be a rocket ship and and that's really that's that's when you everyone in this room needs to find ways to get to their goal faster and and there are better ways but it takes reallocating your attention and finding the better vehicles for getting there that's what you teach
them myON and so you can't you can't wait for 10 or 20 years to get to to millionaire status or 10 million you need that's why you got you got to figure out the ways to get there in two or three and what got you here won't get you there the things that work for you it it's so interesting when you say this cuz people think got you he is below the floor now right exact exactly like people think I'm people think I'm just saying this when I say this I have never had a job
in my life that paid me more than $30,000 a year like I don't want to have a day go by where we don't make $330,000 right but but but the things that I did to make $330,000 a year here's what here's here's proof that 10x is easier than 2x all of the things that I did to make $30,000 a year or less they were all hard compared to what I do now what I do now is like not work compared to what I do right now what what you do right now is you talk to
talk to me and have fun with the people in that room with you exactly exactly and travel around on your plane yeah TR travel around travel around on Jets and write books and people's lives but that doesn't Fe that's so much more it's so much easier I think the hard part for people Doc is not the 10x is not the hard part being willing to let go of that 80% that's holding the new floor yes that's the part that people struggle with they don't they don't struggle with doing any of the stuff that's going to
produce the result they desire they struggle with letting go of who they were when they were doing what they were doing yep yeah letting go of the old identity remember the quote the system is designed to defend the system and the and the system is all the stuff below the floor even me as an example and it will happen to all of us even me right now I'm just talking about may I I tell my assistant literally to send my schedule to me for two months in advance like every two or three days because there
are things that are on my calendar for the next two months that I got to keep letting go of because people will want your time and energy and you got to let that go and I'm telling you obviously myON you're you're above the floor you're one of my you're you're always dude you're one of the best people to talk to I love talking to you but the thing is if you want to focus on those higher impact things remember focus is about generating the results that right now you feel are impossible the only way for
you to do that is for you to actually focus and you got to stop allocating your energy on all the stuff that's trying to trying to trying to get you and so that means Rel LLY I got to look at my calendar even next week and say there's stuff that I was committed to I got to get rid of because I really got to focus on this thing that I know can get me there and the thing that people get afraid of they think if they let these things go first off they're too afraid to
disappoint other people you know this my and so do I the true person that they're disappointing is themselves if I don't if I don't cut out all the noise and actually focus on the thing that's going to get me to the to the place I really want to go I'm disappointing myself and so you got to be willing to to disappoint other people who really they're only focused on themselves anyways um but also when you start making decisions from the goal remember you take the goal the future and let that determine the present and the
and the and the and the floor is a lot higher you got to realize that the basis of all of your decisions is fundamentally better and so people think it's risky but it's not you know one example when I tell like business owners you got to let go of your B players because they're now below the floor and you got to only focus on your a players that are going to help you achieve the impossible goal and and when you start investing in new team players you got to start investing in better people they think
that's risky what I'm saying is is it's not risky to hire an a player it's risky not to it's it's freaking risky to keep your B players you know what I mean like that's going to screw you and in F in in in five or six months you're pretty much going to be where you're at now and so it's not risky to let go of the stuff below the floor uh it's risky to hold on to it it's also not risky to make bigger Investments and bigger bets that are going to get you to your
new goals but people think it's risky because they're they haven't played at that level yet and so so it doesn't seem sure it's not risky you know that's just your monkey mind wanting security it's really not risky man because you're making decisions from a much better place okay so how long do I have to be on the floor before before you stop punching [Laughter] me it's like I feel like I'm in an MMA fight I'm just down on the ground I'm just like laying there you're just pounding me oh this is great here's what I
have to say guys guys guys my man so guys I'm telling you I'm telling you I'm telling you when you hold the new floor one of the ways I look at it is is that the frame cuz you go frame floor Focus your frame is the identity your identity of your future self the floor is what I'll call your character or what you could call your integrity your floor cuz that's what you do is your integrity right if you keep going below the floor then you then you're lying to yourself and every that's why I
say you disappoint yourself every time you go against what you believe or know that you want to be true uh in self or even what you know inside is true about your future self but you keep going below the floor and you you honestly are avoiding and trying to escape reality and so you may distract yourself it could be through an addiction it could be through other things but the remember this the frame is your your identity the floor is your character and your integrity and so when you start being honest about that new floor
and being honest with other people saying guys I I I just can't can't do that anymore can't go and just whatever it is you start disappointing people but being honest all progress starts by by telling the truth we're even teaching our son Caleb cuz our son is 16 years old from a lot of trauma he lies to us all the time we even just tell them look we know you're we know you're lying to us but at least go in a journal and tell yourself the truth go and write down the truth to yourself literally
you know what I mean because at least you know the first step is honestly just acknowledging what you're doing you know if I if I want to write my book but I spend those three hours just scrolling social media and and avoid what I really want be doing at least I can tell it all progress starts by telling the truth and so if you want to become your future self and start achieving a possible goals you actually can do it and and my and I know you know this dead on the hardest part is just
actually being true to that holding the higher floor but the amazing thing is is is that you can start stripping things away I as an example I let go of big part of my business sold off my coaching business let go of a lot of things and thought it was risky but it wasn't I thought my income was going to get cut in half my income's already like almost doubled in the from last year by just simply reallocating my attention on the new Pathways right I wouldn't have been able to do that had I kept
those old security blanket 80% but now that I let those things go which was the first step of commitment now my mind became right res shifted my attention on really strategizing and learning how to execute my now impossible goals and it's amazing how fast your brain can start generating the results you want if you'll just free yourself from the old system cuz we're wasting mental bandwidth on things that can't get us to where we'd like to be you're also you're also you miss what I'll call and you'll know this because of your spiritual your spiritual
background you're missing the power of the spirit because again that the lack of Integrity you keep going below and so not only is your attention yeah bottled up on we'll call 2x things versus the 10x huge upsides but because you're holding on to these things out of fear your Deeper Self is like it's like a dim flame right whereas when you let those things go and you really commit not only are you focused on higher impact things and your mind can figure those things out but your soul hits so much harder on those things because
you're more committed that then it just becomes infinite the you're in the infinite game and so things can just pop so much harder so so my I'm thinking about all kinds of stuff here so I'm going to give you an example that first off my I know that you achieve big goals I want you to go for even bigger ones in 2024 and I know you can solve them on so many levels oh no doubt no doubt you already inspired me to so far in this conversation this morning so so an interesting illustration of what
you said about about the the present determining the the defining the past right as opposed to having the past Define the present I I think that's I think that's a sign of it's a sign of maturity and by maturity I mean the ability to respond responsibly instead of reacting irresponsibly because those are the those are the those are the Alternatives right those are the opposite ends of the spectrum so when somebody reacts they're they're just basically doing a knee-jerk reaction to whatever the thing is that happen so what they're doing whatever comes natural but responsibility
the word responsibility means to respond with ability and the only way to respond with ability is to allow your present to determine your past for instance when I was a kid I had Polio was an infant so I walk with a brace and a limp and all that stuff well I've got six brothers I'm the second of seven sons right all of my brothers can run but I can't run right all the kids that I went to school with for the most part they could all run I couldn't run so I was the man out
I hated the fact when I was a kid that I had polio and I had to walk with a brace and that that like I couldn't run and I couldn't play the sports of other people like I hated all of that stuff right because I I was different and I you know you want to fit in when you're a kid well but that's part of being a child right you want to fit in and then as an adult I'm like man if God gave me an opportunity to do the whole thing over again without having
Polio I wouldn't take the deal because now I can see clearly that the reason that God ordained in his sovereignty that I would have polio as an infant and my body would be slowed down is so my brain could speed up and I wouldn't spend a large part of my developing years focused on things that are nothing more than distractions as I become an adult so it gave literally because I couldn't do things other kids could do it gave me the ability to focus on things nobody else other people weren't focused on but you in
your maturity are the ones that you're the one who came to this framing anding exactly you know but so many other people could still be in the boat of blaming why their life is because of X Y and Z that no matter what it is exactly but you're choosing and creating a frame that not only is empowering it's also more truthful but it is empowering and it it's it's propelling your presence it's exactly and I realize that all of the good things that I have in my life were based on the good things that I
had in the past that felt like bad things you know I I like to tell people you can't tell good or bad looking through the windshield you can only tell it looking through the rearview mirror you don't you don't have enough of the picture when you're looking through the windshield of life to tell whether the I'm having a bad day what do you mean you're having a bad day you're having a difficult day but difficult is not bad cuz everything that's good good doesn't feel good and everything that feels good isn't good so yeah I
I couldn't agree more I mean think about it from a trauma perspective and by the way we all have crazy lives you know I have four Teenage four Teenage adoptive kids a lot of people like last weekend I had a an alarm clock thrown at the back of my head not that our lives are not that crazy all the time but sometimes we have our dark moments um you know I had I had you know like I I have a little bit of a bruise on my head because one of our was having a freak
out moment but one of the things that is important for them and for me is if you think about it from a trauma perspective the only way that a person can eventually move forward is is that they in the present reshape what that experience meant and now they can do better things because of it otherwise that past is draining you have to do that but even as an like that's the only way you can move you can begin moving forward is if you choose a frame where you say you know what you stop fighting the
existing reality right that quote and you create a new model that makes the old one obsolete right that's that idea that bu Mr Fuller said you can't fight against the existing reality you also can't do that trying to fight against the present to create the future you always need a new future that makes the existing reality obsolete but even how a leader frames the last month or the last week it could be the same way if the leader is still you know framing it in such way it's like why did this happen like why are
we where we are only by reframing the past in an empowering way can you then get the rocket to go and so you always you got you can't that's you taking responsibility and saying okay I see what it is I see what's there I'm going to use this to be better right better than bitter is the simple way of saying it but that is a choice you have to make in the present and you then have to shape and frame the past in such a way as a new model that then boom now everything's now
fundamentally new things are possible so good and when you talk about when you talk about having the future frame the present so you're asking you're looking at the future outcome the F the result the outcome the payoff and you're saying who do I have to become now or who do I have to be in order to have that then how can I become that now yeah you let remember the past future are tools and so you can't escape them even the past the person who has the unresolved past you don't think that's impacting them right
now of course it is because your past and so you have to say that that story or that version of your past is leading you to be the person you are day because the past present and future psychologically are all right now so you frame it you even even by the way cvy said this cvy said this he said you could whack at the branches for years and Decades of attitudes and behaviors but you can but you won't get anywhere unless you focus on the root which is what we what he calls your Paradigm when
you change your Paradigm which I call your frame immediately your attitudes and behaviors change th working on attitudes and behaviors is freaking a Fool's errand you you reframe and now the new reality is possible so when it comes to the Future and a lot of people say this is ruthless and it is ruthless rather than present and a lot of people let their present self or even their present system dictate their future if you let the future dictate you in the present it's a lot harder of a truth because especially if you take their goal
to Impossible levels or what we'll call 10x levels if you actually let the future dictate the present you're going have to make massive changes in the present what I'll call your floor has to go through the roof and you got to start saying no to a lot of the old stuff um but that's that's when you really start to make the rapid change that's when you really start to it's amazing how fast things change when you start letting go of the old identity let start letting go of the old security blankets and you then you
know you recommit to the new goal and then you start to execute on it it's amazing how how fast things can change but what I'll tell you what I have found is is that even many of my mentors and good friends if they're honest with themselves they are optimizing around their existing system because it's for them they're really successful and they're really secure versus letting the future disrupt their existing system and for them to resize around the new future even a lot of my good friends they're they're they're more loyal to the present than to
the Future and they don't want and they're a place of comfort rather than letting the future dictate who they are in the present they and and so it slows their growth and they've stopped being exponential a lot of my good friends which have been 10x shifted to 2x you know and they're they're just kind of they're they're lying to themselves which is it happens so good so good I'm so looking forward to you being at offer Mastery live with us it's going to be Game Changer one thing I have to say one thing let me
say one more thing Victor got Victor F on you I'm not in I'm not in I know you love I know I know you I know you love Victor Franco Victor Franco said this and this is where a lot of the research is in Psychology human beings are phenomenally brilliant because of our ability to frame and reframe um we can reshape a meaning of something that was really painful and we can actually draw really extreme value and power from it but also most you know think about like a a bird or a deer right those
things are not thinking about a thousand different possible futures for themselves like human beings can do this is part of our superhuman intelligence is what we call in Psychology prospection or the ability to think of new prospects and so um the fact that we can think about infinite different types of Futures and then we can actually use those Futures to shape who we are and what we do in the present and redirect what we do in the present is a superhuman ability it is amazing and Victor Franco it is but also not only is it
a superhuman ability it is essential so what Victor Franco talked about in man search for meaning he actually said that the prisoner he's talking about the people in the concentration camps The Prisoner who lost faith in their future was doomed m um and he basically you know he basically says that it is human beings as humans we can't live without operating from the future the moment you lose the future your present actually loses meaning and that's and so it is essential it is essential it is essential for you to have a future that's stretching you
that's shaping you that's redirecting you in the present that's it's use it's not just strategic although it is very powerfully that it is honestly to the core what humans need in order to you know to actually have meaning in their lives so good so good so Dr Ben I've got a question for you are you are you are you good enough on time for some folks in our audience to ask you questions are you in a hurry because if I think uh I I can do like one or two um but you know you you
know you and I are going to be together for two days my man and Tampa your we are we'll we'll be we'll be work we'll be workshopping this stuff deep but yeah let's do one or two questions okay okay so so we got questions coming from our audience and getting uh getting the camera set up so you can see all right here we go this this is coming from Emerson Emerson go ahead and say your name and hey my name is Emerson Dr Ben thank you so much minin thank you very much I have a
question um in regards to if 10x is like how many 10x jumps can you make in your life is it something you can do every year and live your life always in an exponential growth state or do you more so step back and say okay I'm going to make two or three 10x jumps in the next 20 years um that is going to be to your own temperament you know that's going to be to your you know your desire you know of of how much you want to shift your ceiling you know um a lot
of people they'll get to a certain place you know you'll 10x a few times and then at a certain point you say this is my ceiling right and you just you just say this is good um or you can say this is my floor what's the next big leap right and so but you get you do get better at it you know I think it's really important to realize that the 10xs don't look the same every 10x over time you know it it's not about it's it the first ones are a lot about you know
they're harder in the beginning they become more and more about leverage and about your mind and about thinking different as you go and so it's really up to you in deciding what you want to accomplish it doesn't it might even eventually shift you out of business where you're doing other things right um and so I think it's really important to not look at them always as it's the same you know it's not me just continuing to do from one 100 books to a thousand to 10,000 to a million to 10 million to 100 million like
it doesn't often it goes different and it shifts to a different qualitative nature where now you're doing something different and even more important and even more valuable than you were doing in the past um and so don't overly think about it in one way um but yeah my my answer is it's kind of up to you and how many lifetimes you want to live in your lifetime back to Einstein you know um and and how and so at a certain point like I don't I I for me I'm always wanting a bigger future that's that's
shaping the the transformation in my present even if that transformation is just me investing more and more into my kids what that means to me me with seven kids but yeah I think I think you got your own answer you get to have as many 10 X's as you you get to have as many 10 X's as you choose some people they're not going to have very many in their life they're eventually going to get to that more what I'll call Newtonian perspective where they're going to let the past dictate the present and they'll let
their present shape their future so so Dr Ben I'm good with your two people but we actually have two more if you can take them if you can't you can only take one more that's fine of course okay no let's do the two more okay Dr Ben thank you so much minin thank you uh my question is I know you said determining your actions the thing you're saying yes to the thing you're saying no to based off of where you want to be in the future how immediate would you say those decisions need to be
made is there any level of planning of I want to be able to say no to these things but based off of circumstances in the moment I is there like a level of waiting perhaps off of like resources or time or do you believe that that disconnect needs to happen immediately I would say um some things you be really honest you know you take it to your team you take it to your family and there are certain things that you let go of sooner than later right I would say as soon as possible on certain
things other things logistically you could probably get rid of sooner than you think right I'll give an example this is a funny one so there was an entrepreneur I was training and he he's had a business for 10 years but he's really starting to work on a new business and his goal his OB was to just keep the one business it was actually in a different country and um you know he was going to just keep that business going and really start focusing on the second business and and I said well what would happen if
you took your 10 10 year goal and you just made it a one-year goal he said oh I'd have to sell the business now I was like oh so interesting you're going to keep that business for 10 years but now just by simply moving the timeline now you got to get rid of that business just because he moved the timeline he now knew that he couldn't justify keeping that thing and also by getting rid of it he could then use those resources in his new way right um and so I get that every Situation's a
little different um so maybe you the next 90 days or the next you know yourself to the end of the year to organize certain things so that you can prep and and get rid of them but you're but you're being honest about it you're letting the F you know you're letting the future organize your strategy and organizing your plans and even organizing the rest of your year so that it's it's clear it's obvious it's not hidden you know it's and so you know every situation is going to be a little different some things are a
little harder to let go of than others right I get that um but if you're not being honest and actively working towards it then it's not going to happen and and I'll just one more thing usually think about it with a bad employee genuinely usually the bias is holding on to something for too long out of fear and when you just let it go you quickly adapt to the better system much faster thank you Dr Hardy it is easier to focus on a pain than an aspirational future it is much easier to try to hold
on to to not lose $1,000 for example and to go after $1,000 so it it this the negative emotion of pain is stronger in my opinion than the aspirational future that as you say we haven't experienced we don't know what does it take um to create a powerful emotion strong enough to to for us to cut those losses like you said to to separate from those things that are familiar to move towards this more aspirational 10x experience it's a beautiful beautiful question there's two ways that I look at it one is kind of back to
cvy it's a lot more painful to fight against the existing reality than to create a new frame so one of the more important frames is to realize that when you let go of those old things it's not a loss it's actually a gain um it's actually a gain when you let go of the let go of the old situation or the old role even though you had invested a lot of your old self into it your former self invested a lot into it um it's a phenomenal gain because by letting it go now you're rocket
shipping you know it's it's actually like Newton's third law it's holding you down it's creating gravity and so by letting it go you just and so part of the it even with the marshmallow test which is really famous and popular the real trick of the marshmallow test was not willpower it was reframing they taught the kids to use their minds to reimagine the situation they would pretend like the marshmallows were clouds right they were they were looking at the situation and so the big thing is not fighting existing reality it's about creating a new model
that makes the old one obsolete I'll give an example yesterday I did a favor for a friend a dear friend of mine and I went and did a favor for him and I was I honestly shared some of these ideas with his group and and I started to get a little bit annoyed about it to be honest with you because that group was not like you guys you guys are you guys you no genuinely you guys are the kind of people who hear these things and you're going to you're going to go do really cool
things with them knew I was in the wrong group yesterday talking to the wrong people and I was like why the heck was I was even talking to my Sant Chelsea and I was like that was so stupid like I was like and I didn't perform well because I was in the wrong environment and I was kind of like but then I then I remembered the only person I was there for was my friend I was there to make him look good and for that it was it was absolutely a win because he did look
and feel amazing and that that was the only thing I and then therefore there was nothing for me to be mad about I was extremely happy because I did what I wanted to do was make my friend look amazing in front of his friends and he mattered that much to me and so now no longer was it painful I was like oh duh of course that was the most I'm really glad I did that because I love him so much and so I just a lot of it is your view there's one more thing and
that's this and it's motivation motivation is categorized in two ways psychologically one is push where you're having to push yourself the other one is pull and pull is a lot more powerful you always want to be pulled and so pull happens when you really start to continuously first off clarify the vision but then also when you're coming to reframing the past as an example if you were think about your team if you you know if you were to show them in the last week that there is evidence remember it's like gratitude you have to create
it you showed them evidence in the last week that big things are happening that evidence starts to get them excited where they want they want more of it it starts to pull them towards getting more and so you ultimately just want to get to the place where you're being pulled forward rather than having to push and it becomes a lot easier when you let go of the old stuff but also when you start framing the past where you start seeing seeing the progress I guarantee you in your 2024 if you were to look at just
2024 your 2024 and compared to who you were and what you were doing in 2023 you are doing so many things in 2024 that you you weren't doing in 2023 that are towards your bigger future and if you keep reminding yourself of that and looking at it and appreciating that you start to get pulled you really start to feel it you really start to feel it hey y'all let's give it up for Dr [Music] [Applause] benarty wow I am so next uh not next but the week after next on Wednesday and Thursday the 22nd 23rd
