well we are here super excited to be with you in really you know what I really love is YouTube I love to answer questions I love to help people and you know sometimes they come on sometimes I don't you know on these uh live streams uh but I'm really excited for today because I know a lot of you truly really would love um to get your answers um your questions answered um you'd really love to start understanding YouTube how operates and ultimately you know have some YouTube success and so those that are new um my
name is Daryl leaves I wrote the bestselling book The YouTube formula and I've been uh on YouTube since 2005 generated you know over 100 billion video views and worked with some of the top creators and brands in the world and I really love what I do I really do I really love what I do and I think the thing for me is you know this is about opportunity this is about taking something that you're passionate about and really creating something of value and then having that value really translate over uh to an individual and that
individual kind of grows you know they they say oh man this really speaks to me I really love it and basically they're sharing your content they're talking about it and you know organically you're growing an audience and so if I was to say what I love doing is I love Gathering people I just love the Gathering you know and and using uh video and audio to really gather people is a really powerful way and ultimately YouTube's the best place for it and I I get it I get that there's other platforms out there uh the
reason why I love YouTube is because YouTube finds the the viewer for me um and they they can come into a community and they can connect and so I really love that um now there's other uh types of of uh you know platforms that I'm excited about too don't get me wrong but this is the best community-based uh you know platform on the planet I I can honestly say that and and the reason why I say that is because you know as people connect with you and your content your story um it's more about the
community than it's about videos and the videos kind of supplement the community which I truly do love so here's what I do um I'm going to go ahead and we're going to take questions so if you have questions make sure that you put that in the uh the comments and we're going to kind of grab to it of course we're going to take super uh super chats first and we can kind of go from there but I'll take whoever would like to come on and then two um you know there's there's the standard stuff that
you always ask and and that's great but you have an opportunity to talk to me and really get some clarity on your questions and that's a really really important thing um and I know that some of you think that it's one thing and really what you need is something completely different and so definitely would love to um have the uh convo with you uh so go ahead and put your best questions in there we'll start here uh with Lyn uh what is your best advice for a complete beginner in YouTube well that's a great question
I think everyone one comes in in different stages of YouTube it depends on your background there's a lot of people that that starting YouTube that might have some background in film and television or they like to capture footage or they might be coming some from other platform but if you're a brand new newbie um I I would just basically get a copy of my book uh read it you can get it on Audible or you can go buy it on Amazon or whatever you need to uh there should be a link in the description below
you can go get it as well but i' I'd start there and really try to figure out what type of value you're going to bring to a specific Community um now you'll hear me say that a lot because you know if it's entertainment that's great well who's going to be watching your videos and I think the more that you define who's watching your videos the easier it is to deliver on that value proposition which is getting something that they love and so ultimately I believe that if you start there really trying to figure out you
know um a little bit about the mechanics of YouTube a little bit about what's going on but really focus in on uh really focusing on uh who the viewer is going to be now you might say I don't know who the viewer is but you can see other channels that are using and doing that type of content and I think you could start understanding who would actually watch that type of content like if it's a Pokemon Channel like who is it what age group is it is it you know older people younger people is it
a mixed is it you know uh fathers watching with their sons or you know just this this bigger this bigger approach like I think you got to kind of break it down and start having some assumptions and then what I would do is just like what gets you excited and I think that's the second thing which is once you understand uh who your audience is is what's going to get you the most excited to create content and I would just create content I think it it takes um a little bit of time to really understand
what good content is and what's what it's not and the only way to do that is to go and create and post you got to get it out there for the world to see and then really get that uh you know the analysis back of how to improve and all that is in the book so um my uh my thing for you though is I'm going to go ahead and give you a copy of this book uh what I want you to do is DM me on Twitter now Chantel should be on here um and
and we got a few of my team members that are here we can just have them kind of lean you towards you but if just go to the DM on Twitter and we'll we'll just kind of mail you the book wherever you're at in the world so okay great um here we go next question coming up um are playlists still good or combining into a compilation video better um great great question and I love to see that you're bringing this on because we just actually had a consult the other day and we had um you
know a great great discussion on two different paths that you could actually take um uh playlists are are okay um like I'm not as Pro playlist as I was you know five years ago maybe six years ago and so what I want to do is like create an experience and that could be done through a playlist um I like to use playlist to organize certain things you know so it shows up properly in certain areas and then two if there's a playlist that they can go back and watch multiple videos that really uh brings value
in in a certain way uh but in your case because we had a consultation uh 100% I would do a compilation like there's not even a world that I wouldn't do that so for me if like we'll just use the example that we were talking about the other day if you're if you're building out a city um and and and you do a section of the city well H you could do the section of the city is the video and it can go all thing and as soon as all the city's done then you can
put it in a compilation form and and make a really beautiful piece of you just kind of building out a city which is which is great so that that is something you can do for sure um and a great example of that is to go over to Ryan Tran's uh channel uh he in June just posted a I think it was a 4our video um and it was a compilation but he he actually uh what we call it bookended where he's adding new content then he added the story uh in between it was a really
great video and I think it has like8 million views or something on it which is great so love it love it love it all right moving on to the next um right here I just noticed we gotting some super chats we'll get to that in a second appreciate it guys um uh mini Chef how to start a YouTube channel of a Christian Ministry uh content strategy and more from zero to advance okay so step by step on this one would be uh what time type of ministry is it like what are you looking to do
um you know there's so many things that you can showcase um there's different ways that you can Minister out there to the world so the question would be what is the the value of someone coming is it they're coming to go in depth in the scriptures are they going in depth into start relating the signs of the times that are happening now and in the scriptures is it more for motivation is it more for reading the word like you kind of need to break that down and other other aspects of it would be uh defining
um you know the value that that they they would receive now I with with the ministry like this side it would be well how do I get them involved you know I want to be able to have them watch the video but get them involved because uh that's one of the the ways that you can really start getting a lot of visibility is having people you know volunteer and contribute and help uh in your uh Ministry which is great so um so basically you got to decide what that content is and one of the biggest
mistakes that I found when it comes to Christian Ministry like especially from pastors is they treat that oh I'm going to just record my sermon on stage like that's not really good um I mean it can work to a point but it's not that good um YouTube is a little bit more intimate and you know if it was uh really like a Bible study that was intimate where the the person was talking directly to the camera and there they're imagining that one person that's watching and helping them along the way is great um on on
stage you're kind of you're trying to you know you're trying to um entertain and Inspire and educate the whole stage and there's a lot of people there so you're not really focusing in on that one individual and so for me I like to treat it as one individual and roll from there and then um after that um it's like what what type of format's going to work and um far too many times people like to cut it because they're like oh we just want small videos no like you got to give it what the value
is so if it's really in-depth 45 minutes to an hour do that like don't be afraid of that uh and and definitely the audience will come so love that okay so we're gonna do um here we go got super chat going on uh hey Daryl how can you make a great setup here uh you are going from zero to uh 5,000 trophies and beating the game uh re-engagement uh one limitation uh set up the history wouldn't work here what would be the setup so the the thing is uh and this is a little really directly
um uh like it probably didn't uh make sense to a lot of you guys make sense to me because I know his channel um and you got to understand it's all about uh vide types and it's all about niches so he's in the gaming Niche he's trying to figure out a video strategy that would work and really setting up um and and having um that be more of a progression so Milan like what I would do if it was me is um stage Journeys in videos are great so if you're going from here to 5,000
trophies in the video that's great um why why are you doing that you know and that that is the setup like why are you doing it you know and and it could come back down to as like I was curious how fast I could do it could I do this in x amount of days okay that that brings the setup up of why you're going to try to do it and the curiosity is are you going to fail you know are you going to fail and doing that so for me that's kind of how I
would set that up um and and then two uh the type of re-engagement in it is based on your play it's like oh no maybe I'm not going to make that next trophy in this amount of time because the time's going down and where you're at should be a little bit further along there's several ways to re-engage and I think the time clock can be an interesting re-engagement piece because it's always counting down you only have a little bit of time I don't know if it's 48 hours I don't know what it is uh but
you can go from there um uh I I do believe that as you do this it's gonna it's gonna really really if you do it the way that we talked about before it's going to really perform so all right uh moving on here we go uh question I feel like our pivot is killing the channel and I feel like uh we are not doing the right things even though we are doing the research things are just not going our way the pivot is so hard okay so Neil uh a couple couple things on it uh
pivots are hard um it's something where you got to figure out what you're passionate about and if you're leading in the passion sometimes it's demoralizing when you don't see the views come in that you think that you uh deserve on that now the the thing about it and I know I know that you know this it's like we need to look deeper than just the view we need to see who's watching the the video views um I I have example after example after example on every pivot uh including uh like go go watch Kimber Lea's
uh video uh the replay on vidsummit last year I think she was on stage last year uh talking about the pivot and she pivoted uh completely you know 180 on her Channel and it took so much time but she was focus in on uh I was excited about making content and also it's bringing in the right type of viewers and so the the key to this more than anything else is looking at that data point so the view count might not be as high but is it the right people watching it and if the right
people are watching it and you're consistently bringing them value YouTube will know what to do to kind of go out and find more people now um this is a really good point I think I saw this um from Renee Richie on Twitter or uh I guess it's X nowadays whatever it is called now but um he he said something and I I I loved it because it resonates so well uh to to um what I believe um which is this YouTube uh does not push content for creators okay YouTube does not push content for creators
that is the biggest aha moment for a lot of you guys like like you think that YouTube's not promoting my videos and what I want you to do and especially you nil like when we we go into this like we you know this it's it's about the viewer right what YouTube does YouTube pulls videos to the viewer and that is what we're talking about here man and so what we want to make sure is that the right type of viewer and then we need to be consistently hitting that right type of viewer and every channel
that I pivoted every Channel with I pivot pivoted the content um whether it was slow or fast it was like I was only looking at that indicator of how many how many people that is liking the new content the liking the new pivot that is sticking around and and ultimately uh making decisions off of that and then it usually takes a little bit of time because what happens is you have all this all this data of people watching your older videos and and and you know that data is if they're active viewers that's great uh
we just need to get more active viewers with the new new content strategy and once it happens all it takes is one video to pop off it could be a small pop and then after that it just lifts the rest of the channel and so uh kimberl I gave a really amazing uh presentation at vid Summit uh for all those that don't know um you know every vid Summit I try to get people on stage to share case studies of what they're doing to help you become successful on YouTube and kimberl did a really great
job of evolving and scaling um and and now she's has like three different IPS that she's around this topic and she's known in that Niche and so it's it's great and then two um I don't know how active she's in our in in our Discord uh but go ahead and see because I she just had a baby and got married and stuff like that so I think she's uh still on maternity leave who knows okay um go going into the next one driving with Miles question how do you think AI has impacted YouTube and will
influence content creators in the next uh 5 to 10 months okay I'm very very opinionated when it comes to AI trust me um okay so there's been moments um been huge moments in YouTube and and I think we're seeing this big moment the first moment is when YouTube decided to create the Creator uh the I'm sorry the partner program um and and started to share Revenue with creators and that motivated cre creers to create content and and ultimately what they would do is clickbait everybody not everyone but a lot of people there's kind of exploits
where they' get people to click they got the view they got the money and and YouTube's like Ah that's not a really good experience that we want we want to deliver what people want because if not if it's just all this clickbait then you know um it's never never going to do it so you had a lot of people kind of gaming that system and when they're gaming the system believe it or not it was ruining the platform so YouTube wanted to take a bold step so in 2012 uh it was like really at the
height of the peak of a view-based algorithm and they had a couple things that was really trying to to minimize that but they decided to do an experiment where they took uh basically the the innards of Google brain which is their Ai and bring it over to YouTube and make uh YouTube an AI and they did a small little test and and ultimately they wanted to see if it would work and the the AI had had two specific goals one was uh to predict what the viewer wants to watch and keep the people on the
platform longer now here's the interesting thing this happened about uh March of 2012 uh but what happened was when that when that was uh institut it could have been January 2012 but um right around March April uh it was like the worst views ever like the the people in the AI Department were like we're going to lose our jobs it's never going to go you know it's never going to be and and what happened next is in that may it was like the most views ever in the history of YouTube that was going through their
test and then two the the watch time was through the roof it was doing everything that it wanted to do and it continued to do that uh you know week after week month after month uh until it was able to uh say okay we proved the test we expanded it out let's roll it across the whole platform I know this is a very long answer but it's a really important answer okay okay come 2013 it rolls out everywhere okay and there was a lot of people mad at YouTube YouTube's killing me because it's taking away
My Views well no YouTube was only giving uh uh videos to what people wanted and that clickbait that you were trying to get and and and and you know capitalize and do that exploit wasn't working anymore and a lot of people uh just got frustrated and left you know but the people were actually doing great content that were trying to build audiences guess what happened they automatically started to grow really fast because YouTube saws hey this great video they can see all the the the thing from there okay that is the moment um that is
the moment uh driving with Miles that changed everything because now when when things were happening uh YouTube uh is a little bit more hyper aware of of things now um there's exploits that always try to bring in um ad Revenue you know so if they they try to get the ad revenue and they exploit it that's where they shut it down so uh some earlier things that I saw were uh Bots creating YouTube accounts and then also just uploading other people's content and then getting the views and then doing that that was a long long
time ago and and that there was like a a like kind of an adpocalypse is what they called it where they basically Stripped Away a lot of ads from a lot of accounts and they just took everybody out of the partner program that was uh even considered doing that type of content and then also trashy content um and so that happened and then and then two um it was uh you know uh you know there's just different ad apocalypse where you know they might do oh like a thing into kids content and you know there
might be the the Elsa gate is what they call it you know it's like the uh they had Spider-Man and Elsa or whatever and and ultimately people were doing that to get the click from the the the kids and so on that led to a CA uh slap down too so there's been about five major adpocalypse uh where where advertisers like oo or government says oo or you know YouTube's like H you know and so they they they've done that okay here's my here's my um my um prediction there will be an AI apocalypse okay
um and there's a lot of people putting out crap content right now because YouTube does not want spam they don't want spam going onto their platform uh they don't want duplicate spam out there that that actually breaks terms of service and you will see right potion come down as people are exploiting that and I'm here to tell you right now I'm seeing people exploit it like I I can see it like I I see what's going on and so YouTube will always come down and YouTube is great but they always coming down heavy-handed uh they
they over overcompensate over correct just to be safe and there will be a lot of people that will be caught into that that mix okay and so um however I love AI I love what AI is AI is not a replacement for a content creator AI is a tool to help you make better content uh a tool to better understand the viewer the tool to better understand how to make content even better and so I I love that and I think the evolution of AI is g to be great uh you know um the CEO
current CEO uh Neil he is uh really Pro AI they' bought a lot of AI companies uh under his leadership um and the AI companies is to help you as a Creator have that tool to make more amazing content so you're gonna see that uh kind of outweigh but the moment that it's like Bots and and autogenerated and Automation and no human inter intervention they're gonna shut it down I mean they will so course correct and so I'm gonna give you a word of warning and this this is true um one of the um like
on Tik Tok they do the lot with this and then two on on um uh YouTube shorts they do a lot of this but they use a a generic AI voice and that AI voice um is you know kind it's almost like a meme type you know way to discuss but I would I would assume that YouTube when they course correct they're going to look the ones that are the AI voice um and and really pull those down like if it's just like the generic AI voice um I I can see that happening I can
see that would be like here's as a part of the footprint that we can kind of identify that this would would classify so so be careful um you know be careful with that for sure um so um all right and big thanks to the Super Chat atha really do appreciate that um that is amazing um we are getting to the questions let me see what else we got here um okay here we go hey uh once again thanks for the Super Chat and thanks for the question I don't know if you were going to do
a question and then hit it but almost finished reading your book and I was going to do your uh 30-day free training but is it the same information as the PA paid training uh program so uh I I I want to be clear uh my my uh group mentoring it's called Channel jump start you can find a link in the description below all we're doing is following this that's all we do uh this this is the complete information so like if you can't afford it it's there uh the 30-day training though is to get you
focused in on succeeding uh the goal the whole thing would be there are a few small tweaks that can actually lead to growth and that's what I want you to see and I think once you see that then then it it puts you on a trajectory of really being more sensitive to what a good content is and what good content is not and so really great um uh really really really really great I I I love it um okay so we'll go ahead and answer this one why you're not posting content on YouTube hey let
me tell you uh I I try to do what I can when I can where I can so I we actually do Post uh quite a bit of content on YouTube uh me on this channel I don't um I I use it just a way to give back you know when I just like feel like I need to you know contribute a little bit I I do that because like YouTube's been really good uh to me and I want to help you and hopefully you can experience the same thing that I experienced with YouTube um
but yeah I I have uh we I actually produced a TV show um we're in our fifth season and and uh it's it it takes a lot of work and I got a lot of other uh companies that we own uh one being which is vidsummit which we have our vid Summit coming up a month from today like literally a month from today so that that takes a lot of time uh there's a lot of things that I do but yeah I um I do have something in the works though um I I've been excited
about this uh I'm starting to pull uh together uh some content um that I'm really excited about and so we we're you might see something from me I won't say in the near future but you'll see something from me um really excited about that so okay let's go let's see what we got um all right you already got my book and greetings from Argentina did you have my book in Spanish I was wondering if you did uh cuz uh we do have a Spanish translation we have a Portuguese translation we have a Hindi translation uh
we have a Tha translation we have a German translation I think we have Russian translation too I I'm not too sure on that one but I know I know it was supposed to be there but that'd be great all right here we go let me see okay Chantel I'm gonna let's see if I know how to do that um I don't know if I can I I know if I how I can mod you anyway we we'll have to figure it out for next time so so so sorry I know Doug's a mod so we
got we got that going on all right um here we go um all right great question knowledge first question hello Daryl been watching for a while do video tags still matter as much as they once did thank you uh okay so video tags are a data point um and they'll always be treated as a data point until YouTube gets enough data that it doesn't need it anymore and so it's not a bad practice to add some tags but don't put all your weight of saying all My Success will come around these tags because that's not
what it is it's just really not um what what happens is is YouTube is um is looking for the data and so the data they're looking for they could get in just minutes uh or hours you know but what what it needs is like a starting point so the starting point would be this the most important thing that you can do with your meta information is your title the second most important thing is that first couple sentences of your description outside of that there's not much Focus point you know there might be something because what
YouTube does is it's going through the audio transcription and it's seeing what the video is about and then it has this uh kind of this uh super tagging system that it says oh this video is about this and you can show up for things that are not even in your tags not even in your description or title because it's actually in your video and so YouTube's looking very granulated with that however that being said what YouTube really cares about is viewer interaction and that's the biggest thing they look for and so as soon as they
understand that the viewers are seeing that this works and it is what it is then it's going to kind of expand out from there alrighty that's a great question okay this great question Alex Gomez my main channel is mainly monetized via Affiliates however I've plateaued at the 15 to 20,000 per month in revenue for a while how can I scale the income even more just create more content question mark okay so Alex um you know affiliate is is a fun fun thing and I I love it I I I love doing work and still getting
paid PA you know years after the fact um you know uh pretty handsomely you know from doing Affiliates right you know if you can do Affiliates right it's great um the the type of affiliate would be is there's two two two rungs uh one would be just the one-off affiliate you know and that's where you're you're paying per transaction the one that you want to look at is how do you do Affiliates that you're actually getting a cut of any subscription model you know there's a lot of subscription Services out there anything like that so
if you get a cut of that um then that's something that you can always count on month after month and then that that way it kind of URS from there so the thing for me though Alex is realizing um what opportunities will lead to the cell um and the cell is that affiliate you know information that you're giving um and if you plateaued where you're hitting you know 15 20K what you need to look for is um other other veins that you can go down because you probably have a system here on at the main
channel that works really well you might want to start another Channel that's very geared for a type of affiliate and and start building that out in in concert with what you're doing here so it's not like you're needing to put out more content what you need to do is just be very direct with content however that being said um I would start doing vertical video live streams if it was me on YouTube uh the reason why is YouTube's promoting the heck out of it right now um and it gives you the ability to really connect
live and showcase that um works really well on Tik Tok works really well on IG uh that that is a format that you'd reach new audience with that and then two don't don't hesitate to do live streaming on the main Channel I think with the content itself you could do some live streaming show you know go through the whole process uh you you can do that fairly effectively and then you're you're you're giving a little bit more detail be a lot more interactive with that uh but I I would def definitely go back and look
at um two things uh the first thing I would go look back Alex would be your real time analytics and see which ones uh you sort it by 60 minutes and uh see which ones are bringing the most views and anything that is over six months to a year old remake that video but do it better and and you're going to see that that's an easier way to get um more traffic coming in for a specific item uh and then two if you do any affiliate stuff on Amazon I would start living create a page
a Creator page over on Amazon and I'd start live streaming there and put video there that's what I would do so okay uh moving on here we go sleep Cove um I had a fake copyright strike and out of fear I put most of the videos in private for 48 hours it killed my channel now I don't get my video recommended next to the similar content and low views any advice well did you take your videos out of private you know if you did you're going to need get momentum back that that's probably the worst
thing that you could have done outside of just deleting your videos um what was that um and I I understand because it's like if you get three strikes are out um and and trust me I understand that uh but if it's a fake copyright strike you can def it but yeah like even if you privated those videos doesn't mean you couldn't get copy strikes on them before just the way that YouTube's copyright system works um because it's it's just just it's just crazy um so what you're going to need to do is uh you know
kind of limp along a little bit um and and ultimately uh start getting traffic back to that uh because what you did is you pulled it out of the index of YouTube and um then you need to get it back in the index now don't know how many video let me take a look real quick I don't know how many um videos you have on or how much views that you're getting um let me go here and you might be able to to um hit it up here real quick let me see real quick oh
yeah you really killed that thing okay what I would do is um uh put a video in your community tab of one of your recent videos that you feel like worked really well that didn't get the the viewership that was need needed um the reason why I want you to do it there is because um if they didn't get it through the notification or there's something was going on with the active viewership for the 48 Hours whatever that is um you're going to just give another push and I don't want you to do every video
just pick your best one and then it looks like you're doing um let's see how many videos are you doing month um looks like you're doing what uh four four a month or so two three or four a month um I would I would probably do the same on um I'd probably do the same on um about every 14 days just pick a video that you can kind of push on it what you need to do is get a little bit more ump okay now I'm going to give you a strategy and I don't want
you to like you can't do this long term you don't don't don't um ever imagine that this works for any content creators like I'm very cautious of everyone that's coming on but you just need to figure out how to boost the traffic to your new stuff and so in real-time analytics you can go back there might be some older videos that is bringing views uh still consistently on the end of those videos you just look at maybe the top 10 videos that are older than you know a year or six months uh change out the
end screen and then do a pin comment to that new video and let's see if we can boost a little bit of traffic going to it um and and this does not work I just want to make it clear for everyone it does not work long term on this we just need to get some um uh to get some more active viewing uh happening on your channel uh but yeah man I yeah it hurts it hurts when when you uh take down all your you know most of your videos you know for 48 hours that's
that's that's rough that's rough um Okay so can't uh send a message on X do it on uh do it on IG do it on Instagram that's fine you don't need to be a paid subscriber for that okay moving on to the thing okay stopping my weekly live streams blew my regular videos up coincidence uh or should I make a separate live stream channel um so Deco voice um um um like causation correlation um you know you you'd have to look at the data uh one thing that you're able to do is go into analytics
and when you're in analytics in the upper right hand corner there's a thing called Advance mode so click on that and over on the right hand side you can actually uh do there's like a compare button hit that compare button and then it's going to pop up a screen and over on the right hand side it'll say groups and what you want to do is hit that button right there to create a brand new group and put live streams and and put all your live streams probably last uh 10 15 live streams that you've done
in that and then uh and then save and then I would do another group which is just regular videos and then I would put your last 10 to 15 videos in that and then uh once you're done uh you can hit that compare tool which you'll just select the the live streams on that and then over on the left side where your channel is you just hit that and then you change it out with videos and then you can compare the data like the data doesn't lie and all you need to do is look at
where the traffic was coming from and who is watching it um and if it's a different viewer then you might want to consider putting that on a different Channel um but you got to understand what the purpose of the live stream is the purpose of live stream is to connect that might be good but how long was a live stream there's a lot of lot of questions that I have um so for me that's good starting point super geeky super analytical but it's the only way I know how to really see if it's uh a
coin coincidence or if it's a correlation causation you know type thing so um all right here we go we got 12 hey de uh seeing you soon I'm excited booking the hotel now good uh What what they're saying is uh we actually sold out two hotels already um I believe the third one selling out today because we only had a little bit of rooms left um and that is for vidsummit if you're not uh familiar with vidsummit uh let me kind of sh show you what vidsummit is uh you know it's coming up um soon
um and I'll I'll show you real quick um somewhere here we go yeah it's coming in in Dallas September 3rd through the 5th um and that's where the conference we put together I'll talk about that a little bit later uh in the Q&A so um let me keep on going here all righty okay veteran biker my videos are not as Pop as my live streams I stream every morning uh for an hour before work news show um how can I get my videos to get more attaction I have 150,000 subscribers at the moment um Okay
so if you're a news channel um and it's dealing with um you know content that that has a new cycle then yeah doing doing a daily before you go to work that's great and that live stream you just might that just might be your channel um and and then two are you breaking news or you're just more news commentary you kind of break it put putting that in uh you you just need to go through that now the the kicker would be what about your other videos or not getting tractions so you might need to
do a more indepth maybe document uh you know uh you know like I I I would say more In-Depth docu series where it's kind of deep diving into a topic that wouldn't necessarily be out of the news cycle but it would be something that would be a little bit more Evergreen where people could see it and and and go deeper into it and so um that's a that's a really really powerful thing to do and what I would do uh for me is realize hey your live stream's that maybe um maybe uh it could be
the weekends if you're not doing live streams on the weekends that's when you put your videos out uh but yeah if if people come and get the value for the live streams then that's what they want so all right all right here we go this is from Twitter um X considering this should I start a new channel unlisted to your previous videos or just leave it and post new videos uh and then I guess it's uh on to when pivoting your content um so uh pivoting content you got to make a choice um and I
always make a choice do I keep it on the Channel that I have or do I create a new channel that that's what I try to decide uh there's a lot of people that have like a lot of subscribers and a lot of viewers and they're like I don't want to lose them and I don't want to have to rebuild um and so that they might say I'm I'm not going to do that I'm not going to um do that so I need to do it on the new channel I never uh prune videos and
what I mean by that is like delete all the videos just so that my Channel's that because what I want to do is start start creating content and seeing what works based on the current viewership that I have um and and as soon as we get uh you know momentum on where the new content if the new direction is getting more views than older videos then I might start start pruning the ones that don't have a lot of views on the older style because there's not not no point of having that on um but once
again you know to delete anything off of YouTube like you're deleting data points off of YouTube and I I don't necessarily like that but I I would in certain circumstances but I'd need to look at that for sure so that's a great question alrighty um [Music] Okay cooking with Chris uh with the thumbnail testing on YouTube I have one at 51 and the other at 49 what does that tell you okay um so having one at 51% the other one at 49% I would have to go deeper into it like I I need to see
where that percentage is so is it like like 51% of browse feature or is it collectively over all the content of your of your traffic type or is it 49% um uh I I would look at the traffic source and if it's suggested videos um you're you're probably not getting a a really big sample size to have that high high of a percentage of click-through rate um you know it could be a low amount and so it's just trying to figure out what's going to be uh better or not uh the biggest mistake that people
are using with this tool is doing the AB testing right out of the gate that's the worst thing you could do um you need to take your your your your thought process and say is this working or not and um I talk about baselines in my book but you got to give it some time and it could be like you know 48 Hours seven days or something before you really do it but it really depends on traffic source and in fact uh one of one of my students uh spoke at vinsan a couple years ago
his name is foot crunch Santiago and um foot crunch uh gave a presentation on how uh he would get an extra million views on his video when he would change his his um thumbnail uh without his face and you know totally different style uh you know with with within like 20 days or 28 days 30 days and the reason why is because that traffic Source uh that that that uh thumbnail style worked better with the traffic Source didn't work better with the original traffic source which is browse feature but it did with s suggested videos
so okay um pivoted my 140,000 subscriber from a drug to Art education in nine months finally had an art video pop off congrats on that that's really great and and to be suggested on the homepage what's the best next steps uh well congrats like this is with any pivot it takes a little bit of time yours took nine months right um it's mon of consistency now what I would do is make something around that video that talk uh popped off so you know whatever that may be if it was a cat painting I don't know
I'm just like looking at your avatar whatever that is um like let's try to add something that would be super related that the person that watched this art video would want to watch the next art video and it could be a specific style so the best way to do that is to go through comments and see if they give you suggestions but also see what value that was actually being uh received by them uh but keep in mind that most of the people that want to see your art education they're never going to do the
art they just like watching art happen um and it might Inspire them to do it one day but they just like watching that content so just really look at uh that that that um that that opportunity now the next thing uh crystell um I would watch Bob Ross Bob Ross is the uh content um Guru um honestly uh he is so good on audience development and uh you know it's it's so great and even jinz loves him you know he loves him on uh twitch loves him on Netflix I mean just really really high consumed
and he had his style he had his his his um method but he also had his content strategy and if you watch his content you're starting to pick up some fun things and that's audience building and it it's pretty amazing so congrats on that really do appreciate the Super Chat question okay ear to hear since joining Channel jumpstart CJs I went from generating 250 views a day to 40,000 views a day and how can I start an email list without uh YouTube punching me for sending people off of YouTube okay really good uh well first
off I love hearing my students succeed um that is success I mean going from you know couple hundred videos today to tens of thousands of of video views a day that's great uh let's get more let let's get that to you know hundreds of thousands if not Millions um now that your question is how to create something uh to get an email list off without YouTube punishing you uh what I would do is strategically look at a video that's coming out that you can do that once so just say hey you know uh this would
be a great thing to get an email address there needs to be value uh transferred like they're not going to just give you their email just because they like you um they might you know but it might be for a Weekly Newsletter or you know in-depth training on or a better understanding or a you know study guide or whatever that may be and and so what you need to do is like figure out what that offer is and then I would just include it in your in your video and then two once you do that
um you can also put that offer in your description of all your videos and and have it there hey if you want this go ahead and click on that so like in mine if you look and I'm I'm not really active on this channel but still I have people every day uh clicking on that 30-day Creator challenge that I created and I get them in an email so like and you might even come from that email I don't know like where that was but you know that's where it starts and you know it's in it's
in most of my uh most of my contents descriptions so Al righty yes live streams are content let's see here we go all right here's my boy question hey Daryl what do you think of a niche Channel like it security and monetizing them out uh uh them outside of AD revenue is this going to be viable uh like using helphub hero strategy for Content okay um and that's kind of like internal YouTube Talk the helphub hero type of content so yes um as technology is up as there's uh security breaches you know it security is
a really really important thing um there's some pretty big money in it security and there's an opportunity so you got to figure out what are those opportunities um it could be affiliate this is AD Revenue outside if you can get them to sign up and they do a monthly you know protection plan or whatever you can go for it uh you might work a with an IT expert um where you're you're um sending traffic to them and if there there's a sell you get a transaction of that to a percentage of it um there's there's
different security uh systems that is in play there's uh hardware and so on cameras it you know that that whole thing yeah absolutely you can make a ton of money on it now I like to do it on ad revenue and I want my ad Revenue to bring in about 20% of uh the income for a channel um and the rest should be you know out outside of YouTube uh because if the ad Revenue stops I don't want it to to interfere uh and then when my company's really clicking along I'd like it right around
seven eight% um if I can get to 7 eight% then we're doing really well so but yeah love it um but yeah you can definitely make a n channel for that for sure um they have an AI voice feature in YouTube shorts already it kind of set a stinks yes Cherry they do and that's one of the things that they're going to look for is that voice if if you're using their voice system you're probably not gonna ding but if you're using some other one that they don't know if it's automated or not because it
has to be done through the app the YouTube app you know yeah yeah it's uh yeah yeah it's it's interesting it'll be it be interesting to see yeah one month tell vid Summit really excited about that okay here we go planing the uh playing the mom game okay thank you for the super chat um I have a fashion over 40s channel that started out as decluttering and household things to Fashion related content do you think my channel name is too generic enough uh or should I change it um you know it it's up to you
um you know I um if if you want to change it you can it just really depends on what um what you're really trying to accomplish if you feel like it it pulls it away then you might want to uh look at making that modification uh let me let me kind of go through um the fashion over 50 um or fashion over 40 sorry um you know you you might be doing this a while and if you use 40 and and and yet you're 60 at sometime you know then is it is it going to
be relevant or whatever so like I I would really try to look at something Broad and I like playing the mom game that's great but what happens at that next stage of life or whatever I guess you're still mom but realistically like when when uh women hit their 40s and when guys hit their 40s they don't feel as good as their 20s uh bodies ache you know in certain ways and so you can connect in different ways and so um I definitely look at um something that you're proud of but I don't know if you
need to change the game as long as the content's good and they're like oh you know I love this channel you know so it's totally up to you it's uh I don't think it's going to get you more you know subscribers or anything like that or you know views but alrighty um here we go Scott hey Daryl just bought your book looking forward to getting into it uh I want a ticket to come to vidmit congratulations that you won that I love it and won't be able to make it due to health issues I'm hoping
uh to get uh what I can from the book now Scott the if you want a ticket to vid Summit you can you can transfer that ticket into a virtual ticket because that virtual ticket you're able to get it and and ultimately um we we live stream every session that that's there and so uh it's gonna be really really cool gonna be really really great um and uh yeah yeah I'm really excited but yeah the book's great um you know uh the reason why I wrote the book was I really wanted to help a lot
of people in a in a way and and with a medium that they can just kind of digest it properly um and a lot of people skip over it and they don't really go into uh the book format so I have it in three parts the first part was the history of YouTube and once you understand YouTube's Behavior and the reason why they did certain things it helps you understand where they're going and I'm telling you it's it's it's crazy once you understand that because then you won't make mistakes you know where their priorities are
at and you know how to to do it so yeah congratulations on that and and um I hope you love it so [Music] um uh did did I start the stream one hour earlier than the email said I don't think so I I don't know I didn't do my email like somebody else does my emails but I hope they did it the right time it was supposed to be 10 10 o'clock uh you know mountain time so um here we go um let me see here Chantel I don't know how to make moderate it used
to be like in the three buttons I could click down I I might have to do it on YouTube that's probably where it is let me do that real quick and that that way it's done so as she's doing that I what I'm gonna do is guys um uh I'm I'm gonna make Chantel a moderator I want to make sure that that happens but uh I'm gonna take just a little quick uh stint so I can do that um but uh it's really we're one month away from vidsummit and uh what if you've never been
to vidsummit what it's all about it's a place where you can really learn the business side of YouTube from creators that are actually doing it and what I love it's a Creator helping Creator uh and and a way where you can really start to understand the business side but also the data side and the content side and the strategy side really love it uh it's our 11th year it's in Dallas um and you know we're really excited it's uh in one month uh you can go to vid summit.com vidsummit dcom um and here is what
vidsummit all well and that was just an image here's the video [Music] [Music] it's coming wo [Music] [Music] a [Music] [Music] oh all right well I I think there's some of you that are just joining us because the email I guess apparently just went out um and say it was 11: mountain time and we've been going an hour um so apparently my my my team uh got the time wrong they didn't look at what that was and so do apologize for that for those that are coming on but guess what it's all in replay so
you can get that um really excited to uh jump in and answer your questions uh what what you just saw was vid Summits coming up in a month um what you want to do if you are anything serious about YouTube got to get your tickets go over to vid . uh you know we we uh just about ready to sell our third hotel and it's going to be amazing this year uh we have a lot of great information that's going to be there a lot around AI we have some really really big interesting case studies
that I can't wait for you to see uh something that you're GNA really love and so super excited about that and let's kind of Dive Right In um uh to questions again so if you're just joining us we've been going for an hour you can go back uh but let's kind of Dive Right In all right let's see where I left off um okay okay housekeeping channel uh question my video retention when I started and uh knew nothing was 65 to 70% and now the last 12 months the retention is now 35 to 45% um
and I only do a 20 second hook and get into it okay so the question is this um are you getting more views and if you're getting more views then you can't look at the retention graph as a good indicator if the video is good or not okay so the reason why is the high the more view count that you have on that video the lower your retention will be it just is um you know and and ultimate you got to kind of look at together um if if it's not um and it's the same
amount of views that you're getting I would go a little bit deeper and see where those views were coming and the type of retention there um and then two go look at that previous content that you doing uh when you started and and realize well is that still bringing in content right now or views right now or whatever you might want to do it but ultimately if you if you really start putting content together and you're very intentional uh and you're looking to improve you're going to see that come up and ultimately make a uh
a bigger difference on view count so yeah on that I would just look at that but guaranteed if you're getting more uh video views on it uh your retention will go down so and once again if you guys are joining us uh that just come because my email was had the wrong date or wrong time uh we've been gone for an hour and we all stay on for another hour it's great great I I was just planning on kicking off here in a minute or two but I guess I'll go another hour I can do
it just for you uh and we can answer your questions that you have here about YouTube okay so hi I'm starting now a kids YouTube and how do I get views and followers My avd is super low less than 20 seconds is there any specific for kids YouTube any rules or uh same for everyone um no kids all it's it's tough um just because uh earlier I was talking about some some uh challenges that YouTube faced and the with regulations with CA and so uh YouTube kids and kids content on YouTube is different so the
first thing I do is really make sure that your thumbnail is bright and it's very enticing for the click um I definitely do that and it it needs to be around stuff now if they're clicking on it and going there's a disconnect it's like something that they saw in the thumbnail didn't translate in that first 20 seconds and so you you need to really hone in on your first minute the first minute is the most important thing and then to really look at can I uh grab them in and set up the content whether it's
to get them C curious about what's going to happen or there's like a surprise and Delight a dopamine effect you know that happens and then it sets up what the video is um but avd for a kids content um it it's Hit or Miss until you really start understanding what your cont content strategy is and start delivering on that so I would definitely focus in on that um try to get up your avd um and the avd should be uh um you know if it's 20 seconds they're only watching for 20 seconds they drop off
and it's a 2minute video or a eight minute video um you really need to hone in on that and to improve and then just kind start ex extending it out from there so here we go all right uh I get a lot of comments on YouTube rdit Discord I find I can't figure out what my viewers do offline uh any tips understanding offline Behavior so he's bringing up I I talk about we're trying to understand the viewer Persona and and also what what's their makeup of of who they are and what they do um and
we talk about what they do online what they do offline um and and that's where you need to ask um I think if you have your own Discord that's a great place to ask uh or ask hey when you guys are not playing this game what are you doing you know without without uh you know technology or whatever start start getting that so you have a little bit of of understanding uh the the reason why is it helps you start um you know painting a picture of who these viewers are and and a lot of
things that are happening on YouTube you could set it up in the stage where you're really helping them understand the content um understanding the content in a way where they want to engage with you um and and it's just more what what's going to hit now they might say I love playing soccer or I love you know playing football or whatever you know it could be that or is it really love you know uh you know going to the arcade playing more games with the arcade I don't know you know there's several different things you
just need to ask questions or see if there's any threads of comments where they're like talking about other things outside of that game so love it trying to get uh do all right here we go H the huddle with Walter strong darl is the best to start a new channel learning how to make videos that people want to watch or is doing shorts or videos altogether I I think the biggest thing is just creating content um content if it's shorts content if it's long it's just like go through the process of creating content and what
you're trying to do is bring value to someone where you're you're thinking of them about watching that video and what what they're going to do are they going to be interested to click on the video are they going to be interested to uh you know be hooked into the video and and really stick through it and so for me it's about that content creation you're make a lot of bad videos trust me you will uh but the ultimate thing is just start and start just being intentional the intentionality is what I teach and preach like
I want you to be intentional the content you create not just say okay I'm I'm going to just do this video and just create it and you're not giving forethought on how to make it better or how it's going to be received or how to be impactful or moments of Storytelling you know so that's what I would do all righty um all right here 20 plus Trucking my channel is 20 plus Trucking and it's about me as a truck driver for Walmart for the last 17 years that's a lot of driving I wonder how many
miles you have on that that that that'd be interesting if you've actually started figuring out how many miles you're your crewing and it's in videos that'd be really cool uh I try to help people my question is how do I broaden my channel for when I retire okay so um look you you know your content is your content broadening is your broadening um I think it's trucker life or you're giving them tips or whatever from there that's fine um but if if you're if you're on the countdown of retirement um you know and you need
to start thinking of how to how to add other type of things that you're able to see and maybe it transitions where you're still trucking but not necessarily um for the need of the job uh but you're just like picking up a load and taking it somewhere just so you can take time off and recreate you know and I I don't know there's several ways to do that uh but ultimately it's really start seeing the value that you're bringing but more importantly the direction of where you're going to be going and start you know peppering
in a little bit of that here in videos that you're currently doing not as Standalone videos yet so all right let's see another one here's our friend over at invisible people if you haven't checked out this YouTube channel he's actually in my book and I really enjoy what he's doing for the world um just he's just great guy and uh check out his channel he's doing some amazing work um I remember you saying live traffic does not affect the upload videos is that the same with podcast traffic okay so let let's kind of talk about
traffic sources so we understand what it is and traffic types okay traffic sources is where people watch the content so it's like homepage so that's browse feature suggested videos it's like you know when YouTube suggests it's when you're watching a video um and and then also there's all the different types of other traffic source that we're not going to necessarily need to go into okay and so when you go live um it can go on the homepage and they're going to see oh you know invisible people's live that's great and then also um you know
it's going to recommend o other videos and it's also going to recommend your live stream too so you're gonna have that um but it's it's more the content type and uh the biggest podcast Network in the world is YouTube and all YouTube did was they treat it like a video but they're saying oh this is also a podcast for people that look through a way to discover podcasts I just want to make sure that it's just more about discovery that that it is than anything else so it it's basically not going to affect the uploads
but the difference would be is understanding the timing of everything so like if you're releasing a video and then two minutes later you release a uh you go live that's not good for that video because you just basically are competing for that homepage and so it's about your content release strategy so if you're only releasing two or three times a week and one of them's a live stream one of them's a podcast one of them is a documentary um you you'll be okay um because that's just just your Cadence of when you're doing it um
and so uh don't don't necessarily um look at this is going to be pulling away from that content uh from YouTube's perspective it's a video it really is it just gives it another way to be discovered by saying that it's a podcast as well great rebs um what is the best way to get over our bias when creating content for an older generation than us oh I love this question it's so good and and the reason why it's like you're gonna have biases and you're gonna see things um but here's here's my lovely advice that
I'll give you um there's there's things that I see that every content creator that succeeds like in massive that they that they do one of which is they have this little group of of content creators um being real with each other and saying what works what doesn't work and they're looking at thumbnails um they're looking at videos and they're just talking about data and talking about what they learn and talking about how to improve and if you don't have that I would say get that um find two or three other people that you're able to
have these conversations with now the only thing that would be that I look for they don't need to be in your Niche they don't they just need to know what good content is and and be willing to give you feedback and I can honestly say that is the best way to get over your bias like it is um it it's just really really easy to do that because you're looking at okay how we're bringing them value and you know if you're bringing value consistently who's who that audience is great now um I'm telling you there
are certain um uh Generations that are a lot more vocal than other Generations and the older generation is pretty vocal on certain those things but yeah you you just have to uh get that group go from there but that's what that's what I would do for sure um us plus Mom our roox role playing channel uh that my husband and my five daughters have grown tremendously since we attended vid Summit last year that is super amazing I'd love to hear that what is your number one suggestion you have for me to support my husband and
our channel in this Sidelines I love that question so first off congratulations I I love hearing people succeed on it and I love where families are coming together and and you know they're playing together and they're you know making companies together this is awesome um the best way to do this would be um and the supporting role would be really looking at what it takes to put out content in a given week and so your daughters and your husband that do that what what I want them to do is what they call Work Week analytics
that when they wake up every every moment of every day when they do something go ahead and have them document on a piece of paper you know what they did in the day and especially your husband when it comes to this and I I don't know if this is like Allin Channel yet or is he still kind of working on the side or whatever or you're working too and you're just trying to support um so it's just more what he does and then at the end of that week what what I want you to do
is just have a convers ation with him um and and see if there's anything that you can do to help him with what he does uh because there's always things to do there really is it could be followup on this or looking at that or there might be some things that you can do there but I I love it and I love when families get together on it so this is this is great great to to see that you're really blowing up so um let's go to the other one um the real s would you
say that 10 to 20% add revenue is the Baseline for kids content also no um you know you're probably going to be you know high 80s um you know if you get to 5050 that would be good um it really depends on where it is if you can get some brand deals it could supersede that um but it's hard unless you really figure out how to uh do some transactions you know to have product or whatever and it's been done I mean like there's great examples of great licensing and products that are out there in
the kids space but you have to actually have uh some pretty deep loyal uh loyal uh viewers on that as well so um here we go um man this is like uh question are pulling comments and super chats from stream uh stream yes I am I love streamyard streamyard is like the easiest way to live stream it just is it's so good they they've done a great job um great great job um all right here we go Daryl our one-h hour consultation at the beginning of this year completely revolutionize my channel I just wanted to
say thank you for your wisdom one million views last month all right I love it man like it's just the beginning it's just the beginning um because you know as you're learning you know what to do I just love it and and you know um love helping people but it's just the beginning um it's your new your new normal now and what you want to do is always just try to improve and I just encourage you really look at that data try to understand you know the patterns of of what success looks like the patterns
of what um things that are taking people out of your videos but congrats on that that's so awesome so uh man there's some great great stuff out here um yeah stick around guys we'll we'll be doing a Super Chat not in a super chat we'll be doing a giveaway for some virtual tickets and I'll even I'll even throw in a ticket to vidum this will be good um maybe two maybe three we'll see all right here we go let's see okay hey darl my Channel's called rap dads I interview rappers about fatherhood any advice on
the category or Niche okay so yeah um this is interesting um I I love the uh the idea of the channel I I haven't checked it out so I have to take a look at it but it's it's great um that interview rappers on fatherhood that's great um and the reason why is because there's different stages that happen and I think when when um anyone of influence starts talking about things that are really important to them I.E fatherhood and family and all that other stuff and the balance of that's great and and especially if they're
like role models to other other dads um and also other kids I think that's a really cool way to do it um I I would really hone in on um what's going to be relatable to the um like the interviewing rappers is is fun but interviewing them in a way that can bring so much value to the person that's listening about things they learned along the way um things that they find important um or things that they're discovering that are important uh things that uh when they started their Journey um that they wish they never
did um and things that they wish they would have known um you know and it could be so much and I I I I really think it's great but I I would just kind of put it into uh what value can you bring that that Dad um you know through this interview but also you know that family Dynamic um because here's someone influential that you're interviewing uh that's going to kind of warp their perspective on on who they are uh because it's giving a side of them that they have probably have never never seen so
uh uh uh okay so this one um I was asking the good question so we did a Super Chat my channel is about driving for Walmart private fleet I help people in their journey to drive for Walmart how do I prepare for my channel for after I retire well technically I wouldn't just prepare for Walmart I just like prepare to drive like I I think I'd do that I'd broaden out a little bit from there um and and you can use use I do for Walmart there's other other stuff out there that's great um because
there might be someone that wants to drive for Amazon but are going to learn from you some things to do it now it might not be the inner makings of working for a fleet like this but but they might have some similar issues that you can might be able to say hey you might look for these things and so you could be a little bit broader on that um but I would say preparing to retire would be if it's all about that um start peppering in your other personality of what you love outside of trucking
um and it could be anything I I don't know what what what it is like it could be Ham radios it could be other little things other experiences it could be travel you like the travel but you also like the destination you might might like food so I would um do a little bit more around it it's what I call like nacho moments uh in my book uh I talk about a channel that um I've helped um a co-owner in that company and uh the Creator um you know was was doing these recoveries where he'd
he'd help people in need um and recover them in in in kind of disastrous situations and I was trying to explain to them like you might need to stop and and gas up and get nachos because you're hungry uh uh because you're going to go help people in need and it's more of that experiment so you have to do that you have to literally help people in need and showcase that and so it's you using those uh real authentic moments for them to know you a little bit deeper outside of what you're currently doing and
so you don't put a lot into it uh but put enough that um it makes sense where as you're uh it's not taking you too much it might be 20 seconds it might be 30 seconds or whatever but it's giving a little bit more of who you are outside of just the tips that you're giving on that priv leate so um okay uhal for kids YouTube is there any specific settings you'd recommend to help increase visibility and reach of artar audience no there's not there's not no setting uh you'll put made for kids you'll know
that it's made for kids but realist ically it's about who's watching what and why um and and if if I was to improve anything on on any kids channel it would be the thumbnail first and then really hone in that hook veteran biker we'll be ADV vent submit all right I'm super excited to have you there owe you a handshake definitely will do that Dr turle is one of my students mutual friend um should I ever uh uh should I ever channel name or news topics okay so should the channel be change the channel name
and just do news topics um like you could do like you know um you could add something you might be able to change your name because like I I didn't know if you're just driving on a bike like just looking at it um but it might be adding a clarified veteran biker exposes or uh unfiltered or whatever and you're just going through that that could work if you add just maybe one other word to it but all right this one is coming from LinkedIn uh JC Davis is there a creater starter pack camera mic Etc
from Amazon or somewhere else you'd like I love pre-production process but I'm not a fan of the post uh any recommendation for userfriendly editing software okay so I'm here to tell you um it depends on what you're doing but I'm here to tell you I'm GNA pull this out this is the best capture editor out there all you need to do is get a mic that works you know and and pull it in but this this is great you can do all the editing there's some really cool a AI editing software out there that can
really punch it up but I I would just do that and the only other little thing is lighting lighting is the most important thing um unfortunately my Channel's not that I don't go all the little breakdowns but there's other channels out there that you can look at some great setup but if you don't want to spend a lot of money but still have amazing quality this shoots 4K it really does and I've used that very consistently out in the wild another one that's great is are GoPros just depending what type of setup you're trying to
do um but uh for me it's it's all about uh great sound so if you're GNA use this have have some great sound that um you can tap into it and go from there so uh looks like there was two emails for different times yeah that sucked I I do apologize for those that are missing it but we're we're I I I I vow I'd go an extra hour just because of the mixed up um well why don't we why don't we do this um why don't we do uh this question right here and then
what what I'm going to do is um uh pull in and we'll we'll do a giveaway we'll do a giveaway after this um U this this uh question kids channel here 1.5 million subscribers cpms RPMs started to decline last fall uh currently 30% less year-over-year Revenue but views are higher watch time is higher what's going on okay so YouTube's uh the way the way the ad Revenue works is is uh very simple and um it's it's a really interesting component of what works what doesn't work okay and you might say why don't it doesn't make
sense you know that um got the viewership it's actually higher and I'm making less money well how ads work is this way so when you make certain type of content YouTube is going to say hey let's advertise on this type of content and let's put ads on it because they'll make money we'll make money and the viewer that likes that will make money and it's based off of Niche okay now unfortunately your Niche is highly regulated okay they they can't do the type of targeting that the advertiser wants to do it because it is against
the law and YouTube had to put a lot of the stuff in context so they just kind of do this blanket approach for kids of you're just advertising to kids and they can't really do what some of the things that you're doing before to really hone in on that um and so the only thing that will get higher cpms and RPMs is when there's a bidding war and people are advertising on top of each other and it drives up the price PR and for other channels out there they can say oh I want this type
of channel that only does this or I'm going to use these keywords or I'm going to basically use these channels because we know that or we want this age demo Okay Age demo from there and the more they do that the more expensive the ad is the more expensive the ad is the more money you make um but the moment that YouTube uh or I'm sorry The Advertiser selects your channel as one of the once that their ad goes on it then they're always bidding and that's where it goes up so the more popular each
channel is I.E the more money you're going to make and so you might see a decline in that I can guarantee you is this they're just spending less money advertising and um even though the views are going up there there's not as much competition for that bid to go up so oh we are going to do this so let let's do this um we are gonna do a giveaway um and what we're going to do is do a giveaway on a virtual pass to vidsummit so if you want to um yeah let me see here
real quick uh if you want to come to vidsummit it's happening in one month uh September 3rd to the 5th it's in Dallas Texas uh we have a beautiful Convention Center that we're at it's so amazing we have so many amazing people we already sold out two hotels we're actually Hadad of schedule of what we sold out last year uh we're in ticket SI and everything else so I think I I would not be surprised if the third Hotel sells out today um and and you definitely want to you definitely want to uh get your
ticket um but we're going to do a um giveaway so if you do hash vidsummit has vidsummit um we're going to do a virtual pass um and let me do this this giveaway tool that's here in uh streamyard well guess what that's not showing up for some reason all right it might have logged me out so I'm GNA have to I'm gonna have to check this again real quick um this is not going to be good if I can't select my live stream there we go yeah use hash vidsummit vidsummit and we will uh go
from there um and let me put this on screen too here we go [Music] um oh that's not the one I wanted give me one second I know it was kind of close but I just wanted the tab not the full thing okay um you guys can see that yep all right okay go go ahead and use the hash vidsummit # vidsummit um yeah super super excited about this guys um vidsummit is GNA be super amazing this year um I cannot wait I cannot wait uh for you guys to see what's happening there so we'll
get a few more entries coming in I'll let that go for a minute um but ultimately uh vidsummit is uh you know pretty amazing uh conference uh what we try to do is bring people in uh that really want to give back you know they've they've learned something they they've experienced something and they want to share that so you're not like hearing origin stor stuff like that but it's like real uh you know real things to to help you become better as a content creator and then treating yourself as a media company like really understanding
the business opportunities and this year we have super amazing presenters uh one I'm really excited about uh which is our keynote hope scope is kicking off VI Summit and I can't wait for you to really learn from her she's going to talk about you know her uh journey of really starting to understand her viewer and how that's evolved and made her Channel go from just a few thousand uh videos a video to Millions um and it's really understanding the viewer we we're uh you know just really grateful that she's able to come in for that
so um what we're going to do is uh go ahead and do the drawing tool now so let let's go ahead and do this and um let's go ahead and the winner for the virtual pass to vid Summit is here we go Vlog epicness okay Vlog epicness you actually got a virtual pass uh to vidsummit um all you need to do is either go to Instagram and or uh you know X and send me a DM or tag me in a a post and I'll I'll do that I I I can connect with you on
that but if you do that I will make sure that you get that virtual pass and the great news is if you're coming to vidsummit you can give that pass to somebody else um and and we can go from there which really excited about that so um ultimately um the reason why I put on vid Summit every year is because I really love to see people succeed I love when people see oh the click the moment being surrounded by the right people is the big thing and uh ultimately I love it so we'll be giving
away a lot more tickets uh but the reason why you're jumping on here right now is basically for that your questions be answered okay so let's go ahead and um get back to those questions and we'll get give away another ticket here in a minute or two so let's see here Tara green I started a a Spanish dub version of my English Channel it starts t uh peing at 20,000 uh views per hour congrats on that RPM is lower 10x lower than English at 5 cents is this to be expected or something I can do
okay uh so we just had a conversation about advertising and when the inventory like they're buying um you know ads to be placed in certain parts of the world um it's not going to cost as High um so when there's more demand and there's also bigger markets you're going to see a higher Revenue U that's coming in and charge for that ad uh so other countries like uh South America um you know not not all parts of South America but sou South America in general um you know you're going to see uh lower ad rates
uh because there's not as lot not as a lot of competition so you know you can buy an ad a lot cheaper there so if you could buy an ad a lot cheaper as an Advertiser uh YouTube split and your splits still the same it's just on less money and so but it's good I mean it's the way I like to look at it is you wouldn't have got that money anywh else you know and and yet you have a channel that's per Performing you get 20,000 views per hour um and and it's like you're
using that and extending your audience you know to be a global audience which is great alrighty okay moving on to the next one here um what do you do when a video on a pop you nuclear topics tanks do you move on is it better than uh following YouTube formula how to how to iterate how do you uh let's see how to iterate when you make need make more videos on weekly basis okay so uh what do you do when a video uh popular okay so I think it's popular topic tanks there we go I
guess there was a space between some words and I thought it was just like your English wasn't good so what do you do on a pop on a on a popular video topic tanks okay um how do you move on okay did it tank why did it tank and so on so popular video ideas is is fine and it's it's about visibility it's about people to click it's about people wanting that that value prop and I can say that when I look at it didn't really tank for the reason why you see uh maybe I
would kind of do it a couple times when I create a experimental bucket that's when I call it in my book um I I like to see an idea around a style of video content and it could be around a specific type of Topic in that which was a popular topic right and I like to do it at least two or three times uh usually three so I have enough data to see if it works a lot of people think oh it didn't work or it didn't resonate what I need to do is to understand
uh but if you're getting a lot of views unless you say and I don't know how many views are you're getting um but if it tanks where it's only getting a few hundred when you're getting thousands or if it's getting a few thousands when you're getting tens of thousands or if you're get tens of thousands you get hundreds of thousands I'd need a little bit more data to see what to do but generally I like if I really believe in the idea and I really believe on the bucket and the content strategy I will do
it three times uh to validate it but I'm going to learn from that I'm going to try to understand why it didn't work and so on so okay um next one's next okay question is Youtube channel name a huge deal I originally started as my hawkley channel the beer league hockey guy there we go uh reviewing hockey stuff I pivot to NHL content um no I I I yeah I I don't think the channel name means much um you know but if you're like the beer league hockey guy and I know you're talking about you
know Adult Hockey wreck whatever uh but now you're NHL it just it's just more you when they see your content in a video oh I like the barely cocky guy you know and he likes to talk to NHL content which is great um so I don't think it makes that big of a difference um but you can always uh send a survey out to your audience uh the people watch your videos right now um and see what they think if they think oh no I love it I love that I love that tie you can
go from there but realistically it's it's a personal preference I've seen the worst Channel names and they still make amazing content and people know what it is because YouTube you know um uses videos to to attract viewers um and and so if the videos have a certain theme they know what your your theme of your channel is for sure okay Jerry's asking are there any changes to box lunches at vid Summit this year yes um we're not doing box lunches um and and uh our our big thing would be we we're learning a lot um
you know Advent Summit there's so many different places to eat really close I think there's like we counted like 21 different places to eat um but there'll be options for lunch and stuff like that um you know for you as well but yeah really excited about that but yeah there is no boxed lunch that I'm aware of so all right um here we go all right everyday Joe hey Daryl I've have a cooking and review channel for Home Products trying to distinguish whether the views are triggered by the thumbnail or the title um can you
explain on simple terms okay this this is a great thing um um I would say the bulk of the clicks will come through the thumbnail okay uh because what happens is people are not reading titles until they see the thumbnail so the thumbnail uh pulls them in and and and then the the uh title will will if it's reinforcing the thumbnail will get them to click and curiosity will lean into the click okay um now that being said there are certain title structures that you need to do it like we need we we got to
go through those title structures you got to have that title that will pull a viewer in that's not a statement but it leads into a curiosity statement you know um you know the five best you know products in the cooking you know kitchen today in 2024 okay great what are the five best products right um so you need to you need to look at it that way um but generally I'm good enough with titles that I I I just no it's the thumbnail um and it's generally the thumbnail um and and if it's not if
you think oh no the thumbnails pop in is great and if you want to improve the possibility of that click-through rate um you might want to you might want to check um you know an AB test on that but I I would do it way after you release it just see if you're actually getting a better click through eight on that okay next um um I'm 16 just started my gaming channel I'd love to come to vidmit my parents are going and will be at in Dallas but I don't have a ticket how can I
get one so the question is this is question is your parents coming okay is your parents coming coming to vid Summit so put that in the thing let me just see if they're coming um if they are you know I might have something for you if they're not then you can buy your own ticket so like am I mean no it's just it is like I've had 16 year olds that bought tickets and it's transformed their life where they came they they've learned they built and they've grown and those 16y olds you know end up
on stage the next year um but it's it's great like I've had one guy that was 16 that went and I did a console with him as well um that was making more money than his parents did in a year he was making more money in a month um and his parents were super supportive once they found that out um and and go from there so let's see here let's see if I can find um like if we can find out if he is's see oh man I'm way behind where I'm pulling my questions are
way behind that whole combo go to the new comments here okay so if your mom and dad are uh actually going to vidsummit and they have purchased their tickets okay they' purchased tickets uh go ahead and just uh connect with me on IG so uh IG just do that just in in the comments not the comments but in the DMS or x uh you can do that and then and then I'll make sure that you can go with your mom and dad so but if they have tickets it's great uh here we go we got
Renee Richie on the chat can't wait to see everyone getting and we're getting Todd back now I am really excited for uh Renee and Todd's conversation um if you're not familiar this is Creator liaison he helps us understand YouTube of how YouTube Works uh so that we're actually making better content and um we're really excited for Todd Todd leads the team of the discovery team at YouTube and he's the one that really helps us understand discover what the algorithm does so that we can make better content but Renee I actually quoted you in this live
stream because I I saw uh a tweet that you did and I really liked it it was really cool because it was like it was very concise of what YouTube is and you you said that uh YouTube doesn't promote videos for creators it pulls videos to viewers and I love that because I mean been explaining that for years now but the way that you said said that um it was really really power powerful so yeah I I've been loving that quote forever um you know well ever since I saw it so I've been using it
quite a bit because it's an easy simple way to help people realize it's all about the viewer um and and going from there so okay moving on next okay so our loss man I can really need this virtual pass and I am Boke right now okay K you get a virtual pass just DM me on on Twitter we we we'll take care of that for you brother so I'm I need you to go to vidsummit one day van come on we got to make the money get get over here come to vidsummit we want we
want to see you in person so okay um we are let let me do one quick thing uh I'm gonna um kind of explain why I'm on I'm on uh because I love YouTube uh YouTube's changed my life uh YouTube has uh made a not one business but multiple businesses that I own and I love the opportunity I love seeing uh people that get it that they can create content that impacts people and that content uh and once they impact people that they can actually make a business out of it and I love it and
that's why I started vidsummit uh 11 years ago uh 11 years ago and I saw this Creator economy I knew it was gonna be big and so I'm like hey there's not really a an event out there that's just helping creators um you know expand and they're not they're not giving a platform for creators uh to go and teach and help other Creator so this is a creater helping creater in the creater economy conference say that twice and I love it and it is it's just like I love seeing people come and seeing them grow
and seeing them really have a amazing experience and one thing that we're going to feature this year at vidsummit is the evolution of the Creator economy okay it is evolving and I'm really excited about it and I can't wait for you to see the evolution of where things are going and there's some serious money being made made by creators that treat this as a business so uh we're going to play this video about mids Summit and jump on we're going to give away a couple tickets um these will be real inperson tickets um and all
you need to do is type in hash vidsummit hashtag vidsummit and after that we'll keep on answering your questions [Music] [Music] W it's coming wo [Music] [Music] a a he [Music] all right okay so it looks like my uh giveaway tool kind of crashed I'm trying to get it back up you might need to put that hashtag back in we'll see in a second um and we will give away uh a couple tickets to vid sum this is in person um yep it crashed so you're going to have to um do apologize um but you're
going to need to um um put your hashtag back in uh so if you did it you got to do it again do apologize for that but hey there we go this is what happens when you go live you know you just get to experience the funest of going live so let me go ahead and put this back up for everyone um you know and uh this this right here is worth a couple thousand so like we're we're actually uh doing the ticket in person you can win you can come uh the only disclaimer would
be is if you already have a ticket I'm not reimbursing you can give this ticket to somebody else or you can sell it whatever uh but outside of that you know we're GNA give you a couple tickets to come to viid Summit um really really excited about this so go ahead and put the thing we'll do it when it hits 100 because we had over 100 last time when it crashed I don't know what happened on that so okay very very good so we'll give it a few more minutes on it um now uh let
me let me tell you uh there just a story that uh that why I I did vid Summit why I started vid Summit um so every uh every time I do a case study I like to share it I like to help people I just I have since since the beginning and um so I early on in my career people are ask me to come speak at conferences and I'd give these amazing presentations and case studies about why YouTube's relevant and then to the strategies too and uh anyway I noticed that there was no conference
really for me um and and I mean that truly because uh when when I would go uh to VidCon I love VidCon I love VidCon what it is um and it's a creators meeting fans and then creators like networking and meeting with Brands but there's a lot going on and I like the education side and the education side you know um you know there's different distractions it's just you know they they do have an education element there at VidCon it's really amazing I've presented there several several years um and it's really amazing but everything's all
spread out and and there's no constant theme and then two it's kind of awkward for creators that want to go learn and then running into fans and they have this really awkward moment and so I'm like there's not a place for for that and then two no one's really talking about the Creator economy and they they weren't at the time 11 years ago and so um and so I I decided you know what I want to learn from people and I basically uh rented out a hotel uh space and invited the people I wanted to
learn from to go on stage I presented on stage we all learned together I think there's like 76 people there the First Mid Summit mids Summit one but it was really cool because we just all learned so much and we were just willing to share and it was like helping each other out and it was the conversations uh before after in the hall um I'll never forget um we had these YouTubers um Comm um and I was friend with them and we've done some stuff and you know and it was a family and it was
a cute girls hairstyle we had Sean mcnight come and then his twins just started a YouTube channel called Brooklyn and Bailey and it was so awesome having him there and we had Chad wild clay there we had there's a lot of great upand comers that were coming onto the scene and it was really awesome to see them share and expand and that vidsummit grew it grew so beautifully where creators come in and are willing to help other creators and so I love it it's not a fan Creator experience it should never be that what it
is is we're just learning from each other you never know what you can you can uh learn from someone else until you're there and some of the most valuable uh relationships that I have uh in business uh is around vidsummit like I I get to see people that I connect with online in person and then we have conversations that you can normally don't and so really really excited about that so let's go ahead and do this giveaway uh this is for a vert no a real pass inperson pass you have to take care of your
flight you have to take care of your hotel but you will get a ticket to come to vidsummit and the winner is the free freestyler you get that ticket congratulations on that um man wow that that that's awesome you're able to come to vid Summit that's happen in one month one month okay but you're going to get that ticket all you need to do is DM me on Twitter or Instagram uh and and or uh well that's the best way or tag me in a post I'll get that but let me make sure I do
a screen capture there so my team knows that you are coming to vidsummit vidsummit vidsummit vidsummit which is awesome so this is great um now we're gonna do another one uh we're going to do another one um and this like you don't have to put vid Summit in again we're going to just do another another random drawing here uh so let me go ahead and put that down uh and draw again and this is going for another ticket to vidsummit in person you have to take care of your flight in the hotel but you get
to come hey Lynn you are coming to vid Man winner winner chicken dinner like that that is amazing you're coming to vidsummit uh can't wait to meet uh you in person uh all you need to do is DM me on Instagram uh and say you won I I have it here my team has it here we'll get you it vidsummit um and you can do it either on uh you know Twitter or Instagram uh we'll we'll make sure that you get your your pass so look look what comes on you ask questions you know you're
coming on here and you're able to do well let should we do one more should we do one more like I'm feeling a little generous right now like if if we should do one more put it in the comments I want to see what what we should do here let's see here here uh no let's see oh free freestyler look he like he won should we do another one if if if we say we do another one and um then then I'll do another one we might as well we might we might as well give
one more right now we do have people on LinkedIn I'm I think this like my second time or third time um you know doing on LinkedIn and also x uh so we have a really nice audience over there uh which is great but let's let's do this um all right so if we're going to do this one more um if you haven't done it put you put the hashtag in vidsummit we we'll make this happen so here we go all right the next pass Full Pass is coming out to uh iners inperson pass is coming
out to look at St on there you go dude look at that man look at you that that is awesome man like you get to come to vid Summit so you are coming to vid Summit you're going to have that ticket September through through the 5th if you can't um can't make it that can convert into a virtual pass uh all you need to do is contact me on X um I need to I forgot to take a screenshot for my team so that they know it's coming uh congratulations on that man that that is
super exciting I'm grateful that you're able to come on that so uh vidsummit is 3rd through the 5th uh in Dallas Texas really excited about that um one big thing that we're doing this year um and I want to do a huge shout out um um and and this is a huge shout out um when I envisioned vidsummit um I envisioned that uh that creators would get it and they'd want to be here um and they would come and they'd come and learn and when they would come and learn they would just like talk about
it and they would bring others with them and we've we've naturally grown uh the conference year-over-year and the biggest nervousness I've ever had with vid Summit was leaving the Comforts of what we've done for nine years and moved to a different state different venue and last year on our 10th year was the first time we were out of state and it was just a bigger location and I I was nervous because there's like more more uh complexity we've ever done before but last year was amazing amazing um if you came last year just put your
experience in comments for people like like that was so amazing um and and two we had learnings we had things that we didn't ever consider and and we still learn and we're always trying to improve and so this Improvement is great but the shout out is this um not not to every not not too um not too very often a brand gets what you're doing and and a Brand's willing to invest in it and I can tell you this year uh we've had uh sponsors over the years um and we've had title sponsors over the
years but we've had a sponsor come in this year that has literally is going to literally make uh vidsummit better um it's giving us more uh money that we can put into better technology and Equipment um better rooms like we're going to actually have LEDs in every room uh which is which is amazing you know and and then two the kind of the setup the makeup is is there and then two it's going to level up our party and the first time the sponsor came in they sponsored our you know kind of our speaker VIP
party and and we went on a yacht and had some fun and it was great well they came back and double down and they're our title sponsor and spotter is that title sponsor and the reason why I'm excited to have them on and coming is they not just because they're giving us money and and going from there but I really do believe the things that they're going to announce at vidsummit is going to help the crater economy I really do and I'm really excited with their team and their Vision that they have with all these
AI tools and I I can't give everything out um that's Theirs to announce but I'm really excited that they're able to start sharing that and and so that's something that you can look forward to there's a lot of lot of themes that's happening uh one of the things that's happening at uh vidsummit and let me let me just kind of go through the schedule because we are updating that today or tomorrow um and and you you probably want to know what's happening there um but at at vidsummit uh we're we're at the same location it's
gonna be same energy same fun uh you can see spotter is our title sponsor and it's been great um but let me let me kind of go down to the schedule uh registration starting a little bit early um little bit earlier and then two we've streamlined that process uh we are going to start out vidsummit with Nick nemon and Roberto Blake like I am so excited uh we always do this special sessions to start because there's a lot of people that want to get the most out of it so this happens in uh upstairs in
in room uh it's on the fourth floor in the grand ball room two and then we'll have our open ring marks myself Shan durus and Mr Beast and then hope scope will kick it off now um I am getting ready to announce the keynote in fact we're actually announcing two speaker SP spots here um when I do that I'm I'm raising the price like we we always raise the price uh you know so like on Monday I I raise the price $100 and the reason why we do that is because the closer we get you
know U I just want people to benefit if they're if they're really planning ahead and going being proactive and so we are introducing these Keynotes they're big Nam names um and I'm really excited to do that that's happening now and then two um you you'll see this the schedule shift it'll probably be uh more accurate after uh after Monday than than than we'll probably do it one little shift right before it starts but we have some really amazing speakers that's coming on and you can see that but um one one uh set of speakers that
we're getting ready to introduce and there's like a few of them um that we are um our big names we've never done it before I was kind of Blown Away that they were willing to come be a part of vid Summit you know and and just really humbled by that and so uh go ahead go to vidsummit dcom get your ticket it's uh in one month and you want to do it before the prices go up on Monday I think at 5: in the afternoon or something like that is when it's going to hit uh
so do that congratulations people that actually got those uh those uh free tickets and then two um you know we're all about giving back to the community and it's really expensive to put on conferences you have no idea it's just really really expensive and there's a lot of logistical hurdles and the team has to really come in and and do do at the the biggest performance so just really big thanks uh to to our team especially Kimber who's running the running the show this year um and Braden uh really excited for them but it's going
to be a great conference uh can't wait uh to do it so so yes it is uh it's in Dallas Dallas Texas uh it's my it's pretty much my second home been there we uh uh uh doing a TV show we have our Studios that are down there uh just just south of Dallas okay let me hit a couple more questions and we will go uh a little bit in depth on this so let me hit this next one uh roxan hey darl my channel is in the luxury rural estate and travel Niche where can
I give Pro where I give property tours and showcase luxury hotels how can I further develop the story art to increase the retention with the tour so when I look at who's watching uh luxury content luxury videos luxury hotels luxury real estate um there's a certain type of of person and there was a a show uh Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous um and then also on MTV there's another show called uh uh cribs um and you know there's there's a value of the Ridiculousness of the you know the luxury side of it right and
so telling the story is more setting up and staging it where it it's about the the Ridiculousness of the amenities and the luxury and what you can get out of it and generally that is the story arc that that is what people are interested in they want to see how ridiculous it is and in fact um there's channels now showing really luxury type of things where they start small and they kind of work their way up to the most ridiculous um that that's been on YouTube for a while now and it's kind of the story
arc of like oh my gosh it can't get much more crazier than that but it does you know and it's really showcasing that so uh roxan um that's that's what I would do if it was me is just really look at that um believe it or not that type of content works really well um in in a form of really giving them it's like treated almost like an unboxing where you're showing them just all the cool things that are there um there's uh great channels that do this right now in real estate but if you're
doing it more as uh hotels you got to pick a lane because real estate and hotels are two separate Lanes you might think that it is but when I want to see it anate and that's what I want I want to dream about and the the thought process in that's one thing versus a hotel but but uh you'd have to to validate that through your data and you'd have to take a look at the other content see if they're performing similar s similar audience from there um next Gabe Stoke for vid Sumit this year when
will the full schedule itinerary be announced that will be on Monday and that's when we're raising prices but I'm telling you it's going to be super amazing one one of the things that we're doing this year that is not on the schedule okay is workshops we did a test last year of doing some workshops and and we are doing workshops they're more Hands-On um and a smaller smaller rooms but with bigger creators is great and we're going to be doing workshops we're announcing quite a few and you're going to see the the itinerary kind of
blew them up but these workshops are super powerful because you can ask a lot of questions we're talking about generative AI we got thumbnails we have four I think we have four thumbnail workshops where you can go on and they roast your thumbnails and then really go through that process it's just going to be amazing uh we have uh workshops on your audience uh going into other other countries what that actually takes from you know doing professional dubbing or do you do do AI dubbing we we kind of lock into that there's a lot of
great workshops that you can do from there so love it love it love it okay why don't we take uh two more questions so if you have a question that hasn't been answered put it back in there so I can see it so it's at the top uh we'll kind of dive in that and I'm telling you if we actually do uh some good questions I might give away another like it I might give away another pass another ticket so if your question is like I might do that I just might so if you uh
put a question in and um if you use the word q on it like what Shen shantel's telling you to do that helps me understand there's a question um if you do that you might just get a a inperson to vid summon so let's let's do that so I'll give you a minute I know this going to take a second for you to uh there might be just a little bit of delay but um if you can do this man that that uh that if you want that ticket just get a really good question here
okay so what we're going to do this um I'm going to do I'm going to just pick the one of the first in-depth questions from LinkedIn and I've never given a ticket away uh to LinkedIn so uh Chantel you uh are getting a ticket to to vidsummit um I appreciate the question I've never really given uh a free ticket to LinkedIn because now the comments are coming in from LinkedIn which is great and so uh says we focus primarily on Family familyfriendly Travel but on Friday nights we go live at home doing things like cooking
and playing games as a f family is that too broad okay so you're a familyfriendly travel channel but are you taking your whole family there um and so what I love about YouTube is people are probably connecting you with the family and they want to see you do fun things however the value proposition if I only like to see your Travel Channel and I don't want to see you do games I I probably won't watch that video and if I skip a video that's not not very good and so what I want you to do
is this in YouTube YouTube gives us the best tools on the planet as creators there's not even a remote close second okay they give us the most amazing tools to understand our viewer uh and this is what I want you to do I know this seems really complicated but this is being recorded and you're going to be able to do this okay step one would be go into your creator Studio step two click on uh analytics step three in the upper right hand Corner you're going to see Advance mode okay I want you to click
Advance mode okay once you click on that uh you're going to see on the right hand side there is a comparison uh button you want to hit the comparison button and there's going to be three tabs there's a tab that will be uh groups click on that now you might not have a group made and that's okay so we're going to create a brand new group okay and that brand new group uh you'll see down below there it'll say create a new group click on that and then you're going to see uh you'll give it
the group title name and what I want you to do is just put live atome okay and then after that you'll start to see that there's your live streams and videos that are show up in there and I just want you to select every live at home video or or live stream that you do that's not your travel friendly family travel okay and do all those um if you have five or six put five or six in there if you have four put four in there if you have 10 put 10 in there but I
want you to put uh your latest uh live streams there okay and then and then you're going to hit save and then I want you hit it again and then when you hit it again this time I want you to actually do your travel friendly videos and you'll create a group of that and only put your travel friendly videos and put you know 10 or 15 your latest your latest videos but make sure that there's similar uh uh the amounts in it okay now if you do more of the travel then the the other um
just get close to it um and and have close to the same number and and then once that's done uh you're almost ready to go um you hit save all you need to do is hit that comparison tool again and then select uh what you want to do is select your um live at home and and it will select it it'll actually pull all the video data that you just selected in in analytics okay and then what I want you to do is up in the upper I know this is very complicated but like I
said if you follow the instructions in this replay you can get it but if you go to the right or the left hand side you're going to see your channel name I want you to click on that and then it will you'll see the um the familyfriendly travel uh group that you just made I want you to click on that okay so you'll actually have the two and basically you're going to be comparing the videos that you make on the familyfriendly to your live and you're going to see it side by side and what you're
able to do is I only want you to look at at two things on this probably want to do more but like I I can't give you everything on this because it's just too complicated to explain when I'm not showing you okay but you're going to have two two uh groups that you're analyzing the live videos and the uh uh familyfriendly travel okay and all I want you to do is look at traffic sources and see where your views are coming from I don't care how many views you're getting I care about the percentage of
views that go to it okay and see if the order is the same and it's close to the same if it is that's great and then next I want you to go to demographics and um I want well I want you to go to a couple couple things so demographics and is your demographics the same is it skewed more male or female I need you to look at that uh and then I want to know the age range of where it's going and if you're doing that that's great um and if it is different if
it's extreme difference if there's like 20% more female on on your live videos than than the other then there's a disc in it and you'll probably need to go through the comments next after that um then I'd kind of break it down go through the comments of each one of those and start seeing you know is the viewer different is it is it uh is it uh extreme enough that I should consider putting all this live stuff on another Channel and I'd probably uh make that recommendation but I'll tell you what you do you do
this and you you're come to vidsummit you do this you have it ready to go and I will tell you at vidsummit if you need a new channel or not CU I will look on your phone I will sort we'll go on my laptop and take a look too and I I can tell you if you need to have a separate audience or if it has a separate audience if it needs to be a separate channel so all right who learned something put that in the comments real quick that's a pretty geeky that but that's
what I do I I do I do the geekiness for sure uh but congratulations on winning that let me make sure I take a I took a screenshot um now let me go ahead and um uh find the last question the last question of the live stream and the last answer I'm going to give and the last ticket I'm going to give away today okay so um this better be a good one here um better be a good one man one that we haven't done all right you are coming to vidsummit congratulations let me make
a copy of this question what are the best uh methods to identify and understanding viewers preferences and expectations in order to tailor my content strategy more effectively okay so this is what I'm going to do um I'm going to do this a little different I'm going to go to your YouTube channel because I can and um I'm going to just see what you're doing and then that way you know that it's not like a uh make sure I see your there it is there it is oh I like your content that's great okay so you're
you're coming man um really excited um and so um love what you're doing love what you're doing okay um branding is good too by the way I love the purple it just pops uh which is great great great okay this is this is what I would do and I need to I need you to kind of do a reset okay cuz your your content viewer is probably the easiest to understand uh than than any other group because there's a lot of people trying to go after that but um it it looks to me that you're
trying to uh Trend Jack and social Jack uh you know getting views so you had one where uh you know you're 100 Shrek and you're surprising you know someone famous with 100 Shrek so I I get that you know what I'm saying um and and I understand that you know there's there's other videos that work and others that don't and what you're trying to do is get the visibility on it now there's there's good news on you know social jacking or Trend jacking and like hey you can do that but what you want to do
is like make a name for yourself and and and have people go man that's an amazing video I just love that video I just want more of it um and so your number one video has 49,000 views and was done 11 months ago and it was a surprising someone with 100 shrecks right outside of that you're I mean you're your thousands of views on all the other stuff or hundreds of views on it right now your idea um on this has always been around you know how do I how do I get more views on
it now I want you to look it from the viewers perspective what does the viewers really care about um and you might think of these spectacle videos or videos like Eric or videos like Mr Beast or whatever but it's more about how you're going to approach it and who you are as a person and what you're really passionate about and so here's the cool thing is um I think you're you you're you're putting yourself out there and making videos are you learning from those videos like what thumbnails are good what thumbnails are bad are you
surrounding yourself by like-minded creators that are um wanting to help you give you feedback on this um but the best way method to identify is reading the comments in videos of similar type of videos so like you might not have all the views um that you need or the comments that you need but you might say oh my my viewer would watch these other two channels or three channels it'll be kind of in their viewing history and so let's kind of understand who they are and then what I can do to make value now one
of the big mistakes would be oh all I got to do is collab with Mr Beast or I collab with ar or I need to do this or I need to do a social jacking experiment and I'm saying no you just need an idea that's a really good video right and that that's clickable that has a great time great thumbnail and it really sets the stage up and your your your potential audience and your current audience will will the Define what that is and this is what I love about YouTube this is why I um
um why I prefer YouTube over any other platform number one is because they actually share Revenue with us in a great way right but two if it's a good video it will find its audience it will it will I've seen it every single time I've seen videos pop off a year after the fact and it just out of nowhere it just pops off and they're like well can't can't no Rhyme or Reason well YouTube found the audience for it and then it's just more did you do uh good enough content strategy around that audience of
that video that they'd watch your other videos and I can't tell you how many times I've seen people come in and one video takes off and it elevates 10 12 different videos and they have all these new active viewers and that's what you need to keep in consideration of the actor viewership right and then converting that act viewers into loyal viewers right and that's why continually hitting that value prop so what I want you to do is um uh if you don't have my book I'll get you my book but there's a section of the
book that really comes down to the viewer Avatar and understanding but you got to understand okay what's a middle schooler to someone going to college what what are they interested in what are they talking about what gets them excited I think that's Shrek video uh gets some excited like 100 Shacks okay it was kind of a trend that was going on too so it Trend jacking and jacking but it's like okay they like Shrek Shrek has some of the best memes in the world people like shk a lot you know and so that that you're
kind of speaking into that that audience really deep but I just kind of really start honing who they are what they like what what what their interests are but then I want you to go this and this is this is your assignment before you come to vidsummit before you come to vid some to talk to me I want you to go watch at least 15 Ryan trean videos okay I love Ryan Ryan is one of the most amazing uh people on the planet um I love his content um I think he's uh probably one of
the best story tellers on YouTube and he's not doing the spectacle he's just a really good Storyteller and I want you to do this with those 15 videos I want you just to analyze what are the patterns of his storytelling how does he hook you in how does he set up the story how does he keep on telling Story how does he re-engage you um how does he he bring in his personality uh to connect with you and I want you to analyze that and then I want you to start approaching because like realistically you
can see it in the comments of what people are saying and then I'm a big fan of what he's doing and and then ultimately uh when you get your ticket I'll make sure you have access because he actually was a keynote at vidsummit that he talked about his process too so I think if you have that you're ready to go because ultimately what you need to understand is viewers um are are are wanting to share if if it hits to him so if it hits to him it makes that laugh and what Ryan does is
he has memeable moments where people like pull it out and they clip it out and they share it or it's that one's facial expression that they share like you'll see a lot of minute marker uh call outs it was really funny when he did this or whatever okay it's speak to them where they're sharing they have to share and so if that's happening naturally where they're really engaging with it it's not that YouTube saying oh this is a highly engaged thing no they're naturally finding value at it as a human and sharing with another human
like like that's what's going on and ultimately they're going to look for patterns of what they like and they're going to see they hey they like watch all these these videos they watch this video and they binge watch these videos okay there's a pattern of relationship between this content so that's what I want you to do and then we'll have a conversation at vidsummit does that sound good because you are coming to vidsummit you actually have that free pass um to come and honestly this is great so guys uh before we go uh I just
want to thank you all uh from jumping on for this two-hour live stream uh it's been fun I'm going to do more of these coming up um you know might do a couple you know before vid Summit give away a few more uh tickets but I I do want to tell you this there's no better time to do YouTube than now like it is matured as a platform there's more tools to help us be better creators there's more brands that are actually getting it um and then two more of you are seeing this as a
true opportunity that you are a media company you're a media business and you actually can do a lot more than just put out videos um and this year at vids we're doing something we've never done before which is workshops these work shops are going to be more Hands-On and you can ask questions uh deeper than you can just in bigger big big bigger halls and stuff like that and so really excited for that so you'll see all these workshops starting to pop up on on uh Monday um so you want to get your ticket now
because come Monday you know that's when the prices go up when I put the final schedule on so just let you know on that and then and then two at vidsummit we're doing uh something we've never done before which is really celebrating the Creator economy in a way that uh that we know how and and it's just cool to see uh you know creators establishing really solid businesses that really have impact outside of video content creation uh so really excited about that you're going to see it when you when you get there it's kind of
hush hush but it's going to be fun uh and I can't wait to see you at vidsummit so vidsummit is in one month September 3rd through the 5th it's in Dallas T Texas get your ticket now or get your virtual pass uh we'll be live streaming everything and then two um the sessions will be available for replay uh just that day like we we have a whole system now that we're getting it up uh up online uh for you because we know that a lot of you are around the world and we want to make
sure that it's it's um going to be approached and then two I I will make this news um uh not immediately but we're going to have our uh vidsummit in and translated in in multiple languages uh really excited about that we're going to give you more detail on that but uh yeah look look out for that so if you if you speak a certain language yeah you might want to let us know and we'll put that as a priority uh but yeah that's gonna be super exciting and can't wait to see you there in uh
Dallas Texas uh September 3rd through the 5th see you guys thank you so much and can't wait to see you there can't wait to help you uh become more successful on YouTube thanks guys
