basically I procrastinated the whole week and I have a math test tomorrow we have some work to do it is 9:40 it's almost [Music] 10 we're going to get to planning to doing work the grind is back I took a shower so I can feel better and I also got rid of all the [Music] makeup these are my worksheets I'm almost done I have one set that I I haven't done anything of these are my notes I'm going to work a little bit on making them look nicer and I'm going to do some corrections in
here uh I definitely have to write down what I have to do cuz there's no way I'm going to finish anything if I don't write it down SM cards I have all these exercises to do in the textbook but I'm not sure if I'm actually going to do all them cuz I don't know if that's necessary the first step to studying anything is always to plan even though this is like totally last minute studying and I really don't have that much time you still have to make sure that before you start anything you're planning it
out I basically have a system and I know exactly what kind of exercise I have to do depending on what subject test I'm studying for based on what you usually do for each each test write down what you do and then it also spares you time the next time you have to plan for your study session so for math is always to first look through my notes and flashcards and then I do all the practice questions and lastly I do a mistakes review so that's a very simple overview this is a really simplified explanation and
it's proven to be fail proof because I do this every single time and it works in today's study session I have to do all of that in one sitting which is the challenging part the key to planning your study sessions under time pressure is to be able to prioritize there's certain topics that might just be easier for you and that you already know and there's stuff that you're not familiar with and you need to prioritize those start with those first and start with those when you have higher energy so you can really focus on it
after the planning here is basically part one of my actual studying this is a relatively simple task in my opinion and it also is quite relaxing to me writing flashcards where I'm basically summarizing all the chapters that I've done all the topics the important Key Parts it's a way for me to have an overview of all the formulas and all the topics and what exactly I have to do for the test it's nice that our teacher gives us like a test matter of all the specific topics we have so I can go into the textbook
and review the topic and write down all the specific formulas and keywords and calculations and everything flashcards also just feel like a great way for me to gain control back whenever I have an exam I just feel like there's so so much to do and flashcards make me condense the information and also help me realize like okay this is not that bad this is all I have to do this is the information that I have to know and it kind of helps me simplify and condense things so this is step two and I feel like
it has pretty much the same purpose as making flash cards I did this in my math notes video as well it's called margin notes I'm basically looking over all of my class notes for the topics I need for the test and just summarizing them in the margins it's also nice to look back later it's again for me to summarize information and know what I have to learn Okay so we've gotten past the planning stage and the learning stage the things we did before like the flashcards and margin notes that counts as passive learning it's just
you soaking up more information and getting an overview and like organizing yourself and making sure you know everything but once you learned everything you actually have to apply it this is the important part many people just passively learn doing the notes highlighting flash cards that's passive learning you're not actually learning it's not it's not helpful you can highlight something a 100 times and it doesn't mean you actually learned it you have to apply the information and that is active learning which is what I'm doing now the best way to actively learn is to literally just
to do practice questions let me be real with you I actually think once you understand the topic doing worksheets and pass papers and everything is actually very fun cuz you know what's going on you're literally just doing questions and it's it it feels very accomplishing when you actually know what you're doing as well now you might be wondering what am I supposed to do if I get stuck and what if I actually don't know how to do the practice questions personally I think the easiest way is just to watch a tutorial just look it up
literally just look up whatever question you have I prefer video explanations there's like websites I think video tutorials are literally so good sometimes I don't even understand the entire topic and I just watch a video I recommend organic chemistry tutor he's amazing but you don't have to go to a specific YouTuber literally just search it up and you'll find something utilize technology for when you're studying sometimes when I'm desperate I go to chat gbt like if you need help then just just go look for help it's okay I'm doing this little worksheet pack that I
got on derivatives after all the worksheets I'm going to do the book exercises that is going to be a lot more timec consuming and I already can tell that it's going to be harder but we we're going to pull through it's okay I'll try to do a little bit of each type of exercise so I can get a full understanding of all the possible kind of question types that could come up I took a really long break like of 1 hour I was just like hanging out my mom and my sister and then printing out
worksheets and like stuff like that and just doing like literally anything but working cuz I'm tired printed out my formula booklet this is the IB math formula booklet all these sections that are crossed out are like the higher level only I I take standard level because I'm scared and I don't want to challenge myself too much so special points using differentiation points of inflection stationary points I literally don't point of inflection is when point of infle what am I I love having a pen like this where you have all the different colors in one I
use the black to write to do the exercises and to correct I use the red one so I'm continuing with my practice questions this is taking a long time and as I just said I have two sets of practice questions the packets I got in worksheets but I also have exercises to do in the textbook so that's two different things but it's basically the same concept it's just practice questions and I as you can see I put on a lot of music in the background cuz it really helps me stay motivated but it's also not
distracting for me it is currently 31 I have just finished all of the practice questions for now I'm going to take a break because I literally did all of the practice questions and I'm really tired now after I finished all of the worksheet packets I started doing textbook exercises as you can see I had my textbook out and I was working so on the topic of taking breaks I know that a lot of people like the pomodora method personally does not work for me at all cuz I don't like being taken out of my flow
so instead of taking the breaks every 25 minutes I just take a break whenever I feel like I'm getting tired or after I finish a task I think that works a lot better for me I had dinner oh my God that last study session was literally bro I was actually so like into it like I'm going to put on some more music cuz honestly I was listen me to look what you made me do on literal repeat I don't know why that song has me in a choke hold right now I don't even know why
now that you finished doing all the practice questions it's time to go over everything again this is what I call the review slash mistake analysis I think it's so important to do mistake analysis you often find like a common theme within your mistakes like if there's a common problem it's especially in math like there might be something you're always forgetting like a decimal point or like I don't know I just realized I really should have started studying earlier because there's no way I can finish what I want to finish there's certain topics where I definitely
lack in knowledge and I don't have time to learn it again like I don't have time to learn it anymore this is why you should not procrastinate to last minute um I don't know how it will go tomorrow I'm praying that the teacher gives us easier questions this time the test L so badly I did not feel like I did well at all there were like two or three exercises with like major points like I could not do them the algebra was not algebra the math was not mathing I was doing it and I was
like first of all for my last test which was also not the best I used to be the type to score full marks in math for the last one I got 73 points out of 80 and for this one we still had 80 points but I got 7.5 um just to remind you the grade boundary would have been 70 points so if I lost one more more point it would have been a b also 70.5 is not even like 90% so I'm in my math flop era and I'll do better next time would I recommend
studying one day before the test no I know I framed this video as like this is how you get an A with barely any studying it's this is not actually a tutorial it's just more of like an experience I think the reason I was still able to get an A is because I have a really solid like base level understanding in math I'm good at algebra good at all the other previous topics like as I said I I scored full points on math test like I was good and I barely did anything this time and
I was just relying on my past like math skills because the new topics that we learned I I did so bad it's like really embarrassing still a good grade but um in my standards that was definitely a flaw I hope this video was still in a way helpful but also don't study one day before the test if you're watching this one day before your test to get inspiration I'm praying for you because it's probably not going to work well unless you're good at the subject already so yeah thank you for watching that um chaotic little
study Vlog will I ever do that again no um and you shouldn't either bye-bye
