George Clooney on NY Times Op-Ed on Biden, Insults from Trump, Film with Brad Pitt & Pulling Pranks

yes I would say she's a friend like do you guys talk right do like a lot of like uh snowboarding together that would be fun to see I would like to do especially in summer time yeah have you ever talked to Oprah about like politics and said you should run for president because a lot of people say this to you all the time no no she should but she would win immediately wouldn't she like in a big way yeah she would win have you ever encouraged her to do I just did you did you guys

were on the cover of Vanity Fair together this Photograph were you together or was this piece together because kind of looks like Oprah's trying to talk to you and you're watching TV yeah that was uh uh we were not in the same hemisphere when that was taken isn't that weird is that is weird all right I want to talk to you about the big thing and you know what that is you as everyone knows now in July you wrote an oped in the New York Times G to get right into that D we have time

for one more question and it really it may well have did actually change the world I mean it had an enormous impact on the presidential election right no I don't I don't know that that's true there was an awful lot of people yeah it was well you know listen bottom line is as you know let's get right to the bottom line the bottom line is okay the bottom line is that that uh it's very hard to let go of power and President Biden did something really extraordinary really extraordinary and and uh so honestly I really

do think that that's that's what should be focused on really yeah yeah and yet it was a risky move because had he not decided to step aside it would probably have damaged him to to I mean having one of his great supporters and what are you getting at J I'm getting at you took a big swing and thank God you hit that ball out because it could have gone very bad it could have gone very very badly go badly listen I I don't know I mean seems to be going pretty well right now but have

you uh like have you thought about if Donald Trump wins have you thought about the possibility he might use the power of the federal government against you personally yeah I have but I just I'm confident in the fact that he's coming after you first that makes you feel better yeah you know that theory about you don't have to be faster than the bear you just have to be faster than the one kid you're that one kid I'm the kid I'm the slow boy Trump is a big fan of yours I don't know if you've seen

this but he posted in July so now fake movie actor George Clooney yeah he doesn't know that movies are fake does he I don't think so who never came close to making a great movie is getting into the ACT he's turned on crooked Joe like the rats they both are what does Clooney know about anything says the host of Celebrity Apprentice Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television movies never really work for him all you know I will if he does that's a tradeoff I do have you thought about writing an

oped in the times asking him to step down because it worked once why not try it again he he's a big fan of mine you um I know you're um you're making your Broadway debut which I found kind of crazy that you never stupid you never been on Broadway no I've never been I I did a one play i' done a lot of plays in LA but I did one play in steep at steppen Wolf about 30 years ago it's been a long time and I'm I'm a wreck I'm a nervous wreck sure I mean

it's it's a very intimidating world that did you feel like this is something you need to check off you know it's did you say check offse yes no I I look I I uh I wrote the the screen play for good night good luck and Granton I wrote it and then we decided to try we thought it was a good time to start hearing those words again from merrow and we thought a play would be a good place to do it and then you know as time went on it felt like maybe I should do

it and I'm I have to say I'm terrified and and uh it's exciting you know we're going to live in New York for a while and try to try to not destroy Broadway along the way yeah how long will you be on Broadway uh 9 years they tell me yeah is that right it's longer than I thought the playing Edward armur who uh do you think like they'll ever do one of these about Sean Hannity I mean this seems like you know our news aners have really taken a could be I don't know who who'd

play Sean Hannity though um maybe you should do it you we just saw your acting that might be yes thank you for including me in that oh you were very did you guys like his acting in that thank you everybody you feel like you know there's when you finally finish doing this this is going to you're going to be I feel stupid a lot of the time like most every day at some point during the day but I haven't felt much stupider than I did sitting there acting with you and Brad Pit today that was

hire you and Brad as like a a team or did he have to go to you separately how does that work exactly uh he sent the script to both of us didn't tell us which part and then I read it and Brad read it and I called Brad and said this looks great and he said this looks like a blast and we like we love the director and then I called John the direct John wats and I said you know I'm in and and then he I said but you're going to have trouble with Brad

and and I really I made him go through the pitch with me I made him work on it like let's tell me how you're going to say it and I was like don't do that and I really I just scared the absolute out of him before he was he actually nervous about it corre he said he didn't sleep all night before he called bradle oh come on and then he paid a lot of money and so then this poor man who has not slept all night had a meeting with Brad Pit yeah and Brad's like

I'm in before like he walked I'm in what did he know that it was you no not yet I like I let those things he let us he was probably so happy that he didn't think about it but now maybe he's thinking about it yeah it was funny I was just I was telling you ear I was cleaning out my uh a closet at my house and I found a box of my William Jefferson Clinton stationer that you sent me with a golden boss seal of presidential seal that's right that I've been sending to people

as president and I was so happy to see as a gift to you once I I had received a letter from President Clinton yes and I had that stationary duplicated yes I'm not sure if that's a crime or not it is a crime but I find out if after November I had it duplicated at Great expense to make it it's a multicolor ra seal kind of situation and I gave it to you because I knew that it would be in good hands and that you would have a lot of fun with it I send so

every actor I know I've sent a letter from Bill Clinton telling him I try to find like their worst film and say I was on I was on the plane and I saw you you know I gave you stationary it said Brad Pitt's name on it also I did you some of your friends Brad Pitt Richard kind you sent me the Brad Pit one was brutal because I what did you do with that oh I sent to everybody I sent to Don cheel I sent it to Tom crw uh saying that they want to do

you know interview to but this time Brad wants to play lat you know and and I sent it to Merill street with a box of CDs for dialect and and he said this guy helping me with my accent in Troy and I think he could really help you Brad this afternoon said that Tom called him and said yeah it's cool you can play lat that's fine I'm okay with that and he's like what are you talking about did they then immediately know that you must be there usually some guess involved with me yeah usually somehow

they figure out do you ever get blamed for things you didn't do no but I will say this once you've done really dastardly long running things then every it's like having the nuclear weapons they're everyone's so terrified yeah that you can get you know this yeah yeah I found like somebody called Richard K and they wanted to do like it was punked or one of those dumbass shows and and they wanted to like Punk me and they called all my friends and like no he could put a dead body in my apartment the director uh

John said that when you guys were shooting the film you and Brad when he would be looking for you you'd often be found looking at funny videos on your phones yes what kind of videos are you and Brad Pit looking at we were mostly looking at your monologues oh really I got paid to say that watch them and we laugh whether it's true or not I will take it they are true well it's great to see you um boy what I tell you what that thing with Biden it's one of your best pranks ever it
