have you ever wondered what Secrets a truly wise person keeps close to their chest what insights could we gain by exploring the art of discretion my friends today we embark on a journey to uncover the depths of wisdom in guarding our words and thoughts we'll explore the power of discretion and how it can transform our relationships our decisions and our spiritual lives I I'm also going to pray a powerful prayer with you in the mighty name of Jesus so watch until the end and open your hearts to receive the blessings of this prayer The Book
of Proverbs tells us in Proverbs 10:9 and the multitude of words sin is not lacking but he who restrains his lips is wise imagine a master Craftsman carefully selecting tools to display in his workshop and which to keep tucked away in a locked drawer just as this Artisan knows the value of protecting his most prized instruments so too must we learn to safeguard certain aspects of our lives today I will guide you through an exploration of three crucial things a wise person never shares my dear friends let's begin by exploring the first thing a wise
person never shares plans for the future without discernment in our eagerness to share our dreams and aspirations we sometimes forget the importance of seeking God's guidance first Proverbs 19: 211 reminds us there are many plans in a man's heart nevertheless the Lord's counsel that will stand the this verse beautifully illustrates the importance of aligning our plans with God's will when we rush to share our plans without first seeking discernment we open ourselves up to unnecessary criticism and potential discouragement imagine planting seeds in soil that you haven't yet tested you might be excited about the potential
Harvest but without knowing the quality of the soil you could be setting yourself up for disappointment similarly sharing our plans prematurely can expose us to negativity that might hinder our progress It's not that we should never share our plans but rather that we should be selective about when and with whom we share them the wise person understands the power of timing and discretion they know that some dreams are best nurtured in the quiet of our hearts until they're ready to be revealed Feld consider the story of nemiah in the Old Testament when God placed the
burden of rebuilding Jerusalem's walls on his heart nemiah didn't immediately broadcast his plans instead he prayed sought God's guidance and carefully assessed the situation before sharing his vision with others this approach allowed him to develop a clear strategy and gather the necessary resources before facing potential opposition by following Naya's example we can learn to cultivate our plans in the fertile soil of God's wisdom before exposing them to the elements of public opinion again this doesn't mean we should never seek advice or counsel from others in fact Proverbs 15: 22 tells us without counsel plans go
arai but and the multitude of counselors they are established the key is to discern when and whom to consult a wise person seeks guidance from those who have proven themselves to walk in integrity and the fear of the Lord they don't cast their Pearls Before Swine as Jesus warns in Matthew 7: 6 instead they carefully select their confidants ensuring that their plans are protected and nurtured by those who truly have their best interests at heart when we practice discretion in sharing our plans we also protect ourselves from the temptation of Pride it's easy to become
caught up in the excitement of our ideas and seek validation from others however this can lead us down a dangerous path of relying on human approval rather than God's guidance James 4: 13 to 15 offers a sobering reminder come now you who say today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city spend a year there buy and sell and make a profit whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow for what is your life it is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away instead you ought
to say if the Lord Wills we shall live and do this or that these verses challenge us to approach our plans with humility acknowledging that it is ultimately God who directs our steps by keeping our plans close to our hearts until we have gained Clarity and discernment we demonstrate our trust in God's timing and wisdom this this approach allows us to remain flexible and open to God's guidance even if it means adjusting or abandoning our original plans my friends as we navigate the complexities of life let us remember the value of discretion when it comes
to our future plans let's cultivate a habit of seeking God's wisdom first nurturing our dreams in the secret place of prayer before sharing them with the world in doing so we protect ourselves from unnecessary setbacks and align ourselves more closely with God's perfect will for our lives as we move forward let us hold fast to the truth found in Jeremiah 29: 11 for I know the thoughts that I think toward you says the Lord thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you a future and a hope trust in God's plan for your life
and let wisdom guide you in sharing your aspirations with others also when it comes to financial plans and aspirations the principle of discretion becomes even more crucial in a world obsessed with material success and financial status the temptation to share our monetary goals or boast about financial windfalls can be strong however a wise person understands the sensitivity and potential pitfalls of discussing financial matters prematurely Proverbs 13 verse 16 tells us every prudent man acts with knowledge but a fool flaunts his folly this wisdom applies particularly well to our financial plan by keeping our financial goals
and strategies close to our chest we protect ourselves from unnecessary pressure avoid attracting those with ulterior motives and maintain the flexibility to adjust our plans as God guides us furthermore it allows us to cultivate a healthy perspective on wealth recognizing that true riches come from our relationship with God not our bank B balance when we do seek Financial advice it should be from reliable Godly counselors who can provide wisdom aligned with Biblical principles of stewardship my dear friends let's now turn our attention to the second thing a wise person never shares their innermost thoughts and
the secrets of their heart in this age of oversharing Ing and constant connectivity it's easy to forget the value of keeping some thoughts to ourselves Proverbs 4:23 offers us this profound advice keep your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life this verse reminds us that our innermost thoughts and feelings are precious and deserve protection just as we wouldn't leave our most valuable possessions unguarded we must learn to safeguard the depths of our hearts think of your innermost thoughts as a beautiful delicate flower growing in a secret garden while it's
tempting to show everyone this rare Bloom exposing it too often can damage its petals and stunt its growth similarly constantly sharing our deepest thoughts and feelings can leave us vulnerable and hinder our spiritual and emotional growth the wise person understands that not every thought needs to be voiced not every emotion needs to be displayed they recognize the power of reflection and introspection taking time to process their thoughts and feelings before God in the Psalms we often see David pouring out his heart to God in private wrestling with his innermost thoughts and emotions Psalm 139 verses
23 to 24 beautifully captures this intimate dialogue search me oh God and know my heart try me and know my anxieties and see if there is any wicked way in me and Lead Me in the way Everlasting David understood the importance of bringing his deepest thoughts to God first allowing Divine wisdom to shape and refine them by following David's example we can learn to cultivate a rich inner life that is rooted in our relationship with God this doesn't mean that there won't be moments that require us to share our feelings or Thoughts with others healthy
relationships often require openness and vulnerability however wisdom teaches us to be Discerning about what we share when we share it and with whom Ecclesiastes 3: 7 reminds us that there is a time to keep silence and a time to speak the wise person learns to distinguish between these times understanding that sometimes silence is the most powerful response when we guard the secrets of our hearts we also protect ourselves from the dangers of gossip and loose talk Proverbs 18:8 warns us the words of a taale bearer are like tasty Trifles and they go down into the
inmost body by keeping our innermost thoughts to ourselves we avoid the temptation to engage in harmful gossip or speak ill of others instead we can focus on nurturing positive thoughts and attitudes that build up rather than tear down this practice of guarding our hearts also helps us maintain integrity and consistency in our character when we're too quick to share every thought and feeling we may find ourselves contradicting our own words or actions later the wise person understands that some thoughts and emotions are fleeting and don't rep present their true convictions by taking time to process
these inner experiences before sharing them we can present a more stable and trustworthy character to the world my friends learning to keep our innermost thoughts and the secrets of our heart is not about being secretive or dishonest rather it's about cultivating a rich inner life that is rooted in our relationship with God it's about developing the discernment to know when to speak and when to remain silent as we practice this wisdom we'll find that our relationships deepen our words carry more weight and our influence grows we'll become like Wells of Living Water as Jesus describes
in John 7: 37-38 if anyone thirsts let him come to me and drink he who believes in me as the scripture has said out of his heart will flow rivers of Living Water by guarding our hearts and cultivating our inner lives we become sources of refreshment and wisdom for those around us we learn to speak words that are timely thoughtful and lifegiving as we continue on this journey of wisdom let's commit to being more intentional about what we share from the depths of our hearts let's bring our innermost thoughts to God first allowing his love
and wisdom to shape them and when we do share may it be from the Overflow of a heart that is well tended and deeply rooted in God's truth remember my dear friends that true wisdom often lies not in what what we say but in what we choose to keep silent let us strive to be people of depth whose words and actions flow from a Wellspring of carefully guarded wisdom my friends we now come to the third thing a wise person never shares another person's secret or confidential information this principle is foundational to building confidence and
maintaining Integrity in our relationships Proverbs 11:13 offers us this crucial Insight a taale bearer reveals Secrets but he who is of a faithful Spirit conceals a matter this verse highlights the stark contrast between a gossip and a trustworthy individual imagine you're entrusted with your best friend's house key while they're away on vacation would you make copies for others or leave it lying around where anyone could take it of course not you'd keep it safe and secure using it only as intended similarly when someone shares a secret or confidential information with us we're being given a
key to a private part of their life the wise person recognizes the weight of this responsibility and guards it diligently in our interconnected world information spreads rapidly and the consequences of revealing someone's Secrets can be devastating relationships can be shattered reputations ruined and confidence irrevocably broken The Book of Proverbs warns us repeatedly about the dangers of loose lips Proverbs 20 verse 19 cautions he who goes about as a tail Bearer reveal Secrets therefore do not associate with one who flatters with his lips this verse not only warns against being a gossip but also advises us
to avoid those who are known for spreading Secrets by keeping confidences we demonstrate our trustworthiness and integrity we show others that we can be relied upon that our word means something this kind of reli ability is a Hallmark of wisdom and maturity consider the example of Jonathan in the Old Testament as Saul's son and David's close friend he was privy to sensitive information from both sides yet he demonstrated great wisdom in how he handled this knowledge never betraying either his father or his friend his discretion and loyalty made him a pivotal figure in Israel's history
when we're tempted to share someone else's secret it's often because we want to appear important or in the no however true wisdom recognizes that our value doesn't come from the information we possess or share our worth is found in our character and in our relationship with God Ephesians 4:29 provides excellent guidance for our speech let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth but what is good for necessary edification that it may impart grace to the hearers this verse challenges us to consider whether our words build up or tear down sharing someone's confidential information rarely
if ever meets this standard it's important to note that there may be rare instances where concealing information could lead to harm in such cases wisdom involves Discerning the right course of action which might include seeking counsil from appropriate persons or authorities however these situations are exceptions not the rule generally a wise person airs on the side of keeping confidences by cultivating a reputation for reliability we open doors for deeper more more meaningful relationships people feel safe confiding in US knowing their secrets are secure this allows us to be a source of support and comfort to
others fulfilling the biblical call to Bear one another's burdens Galatians 6: 2 encourages us bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ when we keep confidences we create a safe space for others to be vulnerable and seek help this is particularly crucial in our roles as friends family members or leaders in our communities my dear friends as we navigate the complexities of relationships and information sharing let's commit to being people of Integrity let's be known not for the secrets we know but for the secr secrets we keep in doing so we reflect
the character of our God who is faithful Deuteronomy 7:9 reminds us therefore know that the Lord your God he is God the faithful God who keeps Covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his Commandments as we strive to emulate God's faithfulness we become beacons of reliability in a world often marked by betrayal and loose talk let us be wise stewards of the information entrusted to us always seeking to use our words for the benefit and building up of others my friends let's reflect on how we can apply these
principles in our daily lives are there areas where we need to exercise more discretion are there relationships that need healing because of past betrayals or broken promises let's commit to growing in wisdom guarding our plans our hearts and the confidences of others in doing so will not only enrich our own lives but also become sources of strength and reliability for those around us remember true wisdom is reflected not just in what we say but often in what we choose not to say may we all grow in this profound understanding and practice of Godly wisdom now
