okay guys welcome back in this video we're gonna be doing a body language analysis of Tommy Shelby from peaky blinders a lot of you have requested this I've not seen any other videos like this on the internet so yeah this will be really really interesting I think Tommy is very unreactive I think he's one of the best since probably James Bond doing this or Daniel Craig playing James Bond so it's an eye-opening experience for anybody who's interested in body language so let's get this rolling okay so we start here and the first thing that we
can see is that the slowness of the reaction there from Tommy so we've just been told that you know the phone's ringing that'll probably be for you won't it and instead of instantly jumping up and grabbing it he's taken I think around about two to three seconds to respond which is a very very alpha move as I've told you guys before the biggest alphas in the world they move at their own pace they almost look as though they're moving through treacle moving in slow motion it's a fantastic trait to have as long as you don't
overdo it and look stupid but you kind of don't react to things so the example always uses you'll walk along the road there may be a hundred two hundred people around and a car horn beeps and let's say fifty percent of people jump another forty percent of people turn their head to see what's going on and there's always a roundabout you know five percent of people that again on with what they're doing then they're looking a little bit there's always a small percentage of people who just kind of carry on with their daily life and
those unreactive people that's that's the group you want to be in that's the alpha male group hello Arthur your art that's another alpha male trait it comes down to tonality but it's more about the woods that you use to two things really but I'll get to the second one in a minute cuz it's not really a parent in this in this segment but what he's doing is he's using smaller or less a shorter sentences you know one or two word answers and there's something that a lot of top-level men do they don't need to fill
space with extra woods so that the old side of the streets whip that word is mine all you vote for me I was fantastic I contact there as well if we just bring this back there's two things here really in this let's take a look so here and he holds it quite long but I've paused it quite early you know just beamed straight at alfea it's very direct it's very tough to do actually a lot of people get intimidated especially against the man who is an alpha male himself but you can see sat right straight
shoulders no slouch in you know chin is elevated and he's looking straight forward that's fantastic sitting body language there I would say that maybe he could sit up a little bit straighter but I think based on the role I think he's leaning back to look a little bit cool let's play this on a couple of seconds I know he's looking at the guy on the right hand side there but there's a little tip for you guys when you're making eye contact with somebody never break eye contact by looking down always look to the right or
to the left and if you look to the left sometimes it can signify that you're lying or thinking to the right is seen as a more trustworthy direction I don't know why I think is to do a left and right brain there's very interesting stuff signed by the Minister of the Empire himself yeah this means that you can put your room in our shipments now on a poplar docks will have to canvas I don't know if you can hear it in the tonality I know it's the Birmingham accent but with his tone a letís for
example you get a woman who's from LA and she might talk like this where it goes up at the end of each sentence and it sounds really submissive like everything's a question or you're asking permission to speak you know is a lot of celebrities use it or talk show hosts they don't want to upset people you know like Ellen DeGeneres and people like that but with the Birmingham accent or the tonality that he's using here everything goes down at the end so each sentence comes down and he finishes off on a much lower tone than
the one that he started on you know it kind of code goes down at the end that wasn't the best example ever that's why he's an actor and I'm not but that's the way to do it with tonality is to finish off your sentences perhaps a little bit lower than when you began them so then it sounds more like an authoritative statement rather than a question you know we're gonna have my lawyer look at that man house although you know what my trust yeah that's that that nice little moment there he didn't exactly slam it
but the ball was placed in front of him and you know it's not exactly a moment to jump but he just carefully looked down at the bottle he didn't flinch his whole positioning here stayed exactly the same and it's a very small thing but a lot of guys and their eyebrows might dart up their eyelids might dart up you know when somebody invades their personal space like this you know and they they might be inclined to sit back a little bit further in their seat but Tommy doesn't flinch and he does this consistently in to
disguise what would that be this says here 20% page me of your export business as we agreed on the telephone again completely unreactive he could have got angry there which is is actually a bad trait it's not something you should do any anybody as soon as you lose your call you kind of lose the situation the argument whatever it was but he was very relaxed he was talking slowly which is great tonality he reacted in a relaxed manner with which is what we agreed or something along those lines but he paused for like two or
three seconds and held eye contact that was very very alpha move this on this is quite important here so you've got Alfie invading his personal space trying to draw his attentions over here you know Tommy saying look it's not even worth my attention he's turned his head he's looked over there you know he's smoking his cigarette he's just thinking anything that is completely unrelated to what you're trying to show me I just I'm not dealing with it this is just something that isn't really on my agenda you're not you're not worth my time which is
a lot of body languages whose most important who has the most social value and you can betray that in your actions very very well then a hundred percent of your business goes to me I see is there fact again another short response with I see don't worry about it right because it's totally legal binding all you have to do is sign the document and transfer all those we saw in just Sears yep nice a that's fine that is what that's funny I'll give you 100 percent of my business yeah there's a little smirk here as
well I think it's just right there yes a lot of men a lot of alpha males do this so they don't really do a full laugh if you do a full laugh then it seemed it's always deemed as more submissive they found that men who smile who laugh more often as seen as more agreeable because it laughing is very much a social activity it's great if you want a lot of friends but if you kind of want to be the alpha man this this isn't saying you shouldn't laugh but you know laugh and every joke
or smiling every joke will be impolite to everybody's if scene is very agreeable and it's a great trait to have especially in a business sense like I said a social sense you don't want to be an [ __ ] but I don't think it's a good idea to be everybody knows that one guy that it doesn't matter what's said or like somebody can say something that's not funny and there's that one guy that will smile and laugh and it's like is that the only reaction that you have is seen as very submissive very soft and
a lot of alpha males just give a little smirk here this is important so he's just pointing a gun at his head a slow head turn you know just make sure eye contact with him but it's the pace at which he turns his head so I think for the majority of people if they had a gun pointed at them they would react quite in a scared manner you know maybe quite frantically but he's barely moved he's just turns his head in slow motion hasn't even turned his shoulders his body it's just his head slightly giving
him an you know a look of disgust we can see on his face here you can see that this is definitely a face where it's kind of like what are you doing kid what are you doing son like this isn't gonna work and with the Pearson eye contact it's a very brave move and just to explain that guys because a lot of you aren't gonna be in a situation where there's a gun pointed at you I hope so how would you use that in a modern in a modern normal day sense well it's like I
said being completely unreactive two things going on around you instead of just jumping around a fidgeting and you know turning too quickly just turning very very slowly to see what's going on this stuff really really works and I'm telling you I subconsciously other men recognize it and I think other women see it all the time because anytime I've ever been on a night especially when I was younger I used to do this [ __ ] on purpose you know you could kind of turn it on so you could be I haven't quite dry a night
with women and as soon as you started moving slower making yourself larger you know stretching out do it just doing certain body language cues you'd get women come over and sit next to you start talking to you it was really weird it's just non [ __ ] the gullible I saw you need to know so all you have to do is sign the [ __ ] contract what it's quite a big moment as well because again he's invades in his personal space in an aggressive manner and again Tommy just hasn't flinched he's looked down he's
looked down at what's going on he's done it slowly but again he's just smoking his cigarette he's ashen it he hasn't moved and again that's what I said about being um reactive I think Tommy's as good as Daniel Craig playing James Bond at the unreactive nature's it's a common trait between alpha males again that's interesting that's another tonality kind of language trait there that alpha males do which is he's being threatened you know he's saying get on with it quite forcefully and Tommy's just said I see okay well I've got a friend outside you know
he's changed the subject completely which again says look you're not worth my time my social value is higher than yours I don't really take you seriously which is actually infuriate and Alfie but it's such an alpha movies reclaimed that power that's not actually a good move there I think he does it again that's taken literally there those sort of hand gestures where these aren't very alpha they're trying to catch one I don't think that's the best one out of the two but what he's doing is he's gesturing to hi so ideally you see a lot
of politicians they'll gesture down here which is called the truth plain and they'll have their hands clasp together join together and then what they'll do is they'll gesture kind of out here out here you know and within this kind of zone here it's called the truth plain you'll see a lot of politicians do it you'll see a lot of prime ministers and presidents do it Trump's pretty good at it all he thinks he's very good at it but that's you know that's Trump and what Tommy's doing wrong here is he's gesturing too high in my
opinion it's quite a submissive move anything anything up here says I'm excited and anything ran here is quite submissive you know we in this kind of range let me get rid of these lines so it looks a bit clearer but the other thing is he's [ __ ] he's almost showing his palm and I think on the first hand I think he shows his palm is kind of pointing to the sky now this is a move seen in the animal kingdom with chimps so when they're asking for forgiveness or they don't want to upset the
Alpha they'll show their palms and they'll push it to the sky they'll kind of present it forward like an offer him and the other chimp you might have seen it in Planet the Apes will drag their fingers across that palm and just say yet things are okay with me this it's kind of like a handshakes like you ought you're accepted and usually they'll bow their head so if he had looked down it would have been terrible he's only done the hand gesture but I think this should have been done a bit lower now I understand
that there's a camera and we're filming a movie here so you have to you they the audience has to be able to see what's going on so that might be why he did it but just for your own lives don't gesture too high it's like a guy stood in a bar okay so if you've got a drink in a bar you should be holding it down here narrow your waist you hold it up here as seen as quite submissive it's like it's like you're blocking you're blocking people from getting to you or you're holding it
in front of your face a lot of a lot of musicians do it with guitars so as long as they've got a guitar they feel safe when it's removed they feel vulnerable and you know and you'll see a lot of social interactions a lot of women do it when they're meeting a man for the first time they might be holding a purse or something and they'll put it in the way you know although they'll just have something to guard them maybe it's their drink on a night I hope maybe they'll put it between themselves and
the man if they're interested you know then they might actually put the drink on the other side and it's all subconscious and it's so that the man can see them properly you can see their body he doesn't have any blocks he can get straight to them you see this a lot if you actually look out for it yeah analogous she taught me I'm going to [ __ ] shoot in by again as he says now I'm gonna [ __ ] shoot you for most people that would be like [ __ ] I bet but I
better start behaving like a good little boy but he doesn't react again he just kind of rolls his eyes and just gets on with it which is a very alpha move no I stopped to tie my shoelace there's not a fact actually this gesture here this is what I was talking about oh I landed right on it okay so this gesture here with the palm pointed downwards is a lot more of an alpha male move and it's you can see he's gesturing it lower that's what he should have done the first time that's you can
see he's taking control of this conversation at that point he's definitely winning the body language battle but gestures should be like this and not palm up and not too high this is the best way to do it dr. Thomas shoe and ice there's not a fact Molly my shoelace while I was doing it I like a hand grenade on one of your barrels mark 15 with Wyatt trip and my friend upstairs well he's like wanna know who's a nigga's that they blew up Wall Street you know he's a professional and he's in charge of the
wire if I don't walk out that door first over seven he's gonna tree the grenade and you're very combustible wrong my soul to hell and I don't care cuz I'm already dead do you know what guys this scene I think it might be the second most important one in this whole video because truth be told I did this yesterday again it got blocked because of copyright issues copyrights so stupid it's free advertising either if anybody wants to steal the first man footage you'll do anything with it then [ __ ] it steal it it's free
advertising I don't even care if you tagged me people are gonna find out who it is eventually right you know so stupid especially when we've got the streaming platform if you just want a [ __ ] video record on your phone and put it out as your own content it's free advertising I don't give a [ __ ] ok so the eye contact here is beaming he's staring exactly into his eyes which aren't spaced this far apart but you know I just want you to be able to see the eyes and it's one of the
hardest things I think to doing body language is to be able to talk whilst holding eye contact so you'll see that when somebody's talking to you you're able to hold eye contact very well and vice versa but the second that you start talking something inside your head says I can't stare at the person while I'm talking it seems threatening you know is you're not listening anymore you're not just staring into their eyes and listening you'll staring straight into their eyes and talking it seems quite an aggressive move but you will be shocked how powerful this
trait is so I've had top-level CEOs multimillionaires that I've spoken to that will do this they'll look you right in the eye and they'll talk at length they might talk for 5-10 minutes straight without breaking eye contact once and it's quite intimidating and these people are always worth millions you know they're super successful they're they're dominant in their fields and Titans in their industries and it's so impressive to see and you know most people will talk and look left and right and gesture around and there's somebody else talk and it's a show of respect they'll
stare them straight in the eye and listen but then the other person will be the one who's looking around the room now this definitely works with women too so if you're able to talk was holding eye contact with a woman they fall apart I don't know what it is I think it's just because it's so rare that nobody does it but it might be the ultimate show of confidence in my opinion to be able to talk fluently have pauses where you're not I'm in and Irene which actually takes practice and sometimes you have to do
it consciously it's very tough in daily life not to use an arm or an hour but just to hold eye contact and talk embrace the pauses and don't break that eye contact even if it's awkward moment when you've been quiet for like two or three seconds while you're thinking it's so powerful you have no idea use it next time you're talking to a woman or something is it will blow your mind the reaction that you'll get he talked very great eye contact from both guys there and I think this is symbolic of who the Alfa's
asked are the two alphas a holding eye contact they didn't say a single word that waiting for the other one to break or speak first and the beta male comes in and speaks first he's the one who broke he's the one who panicked he couldn't take the tension he's getting scared he's showing his colors too soon parties like selfie and there is acute at the door from a good family to a tardies nice nothing else yeah what were you doing was marking the runners in the paper [Music] just sick of the time carry on or
the I want you guys thought yeah shoot that boy in the face from the good family but anyone walks through that too all except me you've lost him I lied he taught his [ __ ] lights are lit among us I'm the hundred to one you'll [ __ ] know it might ask more money I say you fail to consider the phone I did block the way that Tom Hardy held eye contact there the entire time while he was talking and playing with the gun was very impressive but also both men are still locked in
eye contacts a massive alpha bowel this is the tension is so high it's great body language from the I guess the producers the directors I guess it'd be directors and there you can see the difference between the beta male is he so scared stuffy tired he's [ __ ] late I saw him look applied a grenade I know he did Alfie it's Tommy [ __ ] Shelby this scene is fantastic in my opinion I think this is what's wrong with a lot of men in the modern eras we're not allowed to just grab somebody nice
slap them and just say look you're being a little boy you're being a little prick man up you know this is a man's world I think there's something that we're missing in this era you know after this happens right in 2020 somebody will go and call the police and say they were assaulted which is just the softest thing I've ever heard and I definitely think that there's a place for this still in the modern era where you can just say what you were thinking and so sometimes a little bit of violence it's just what somebody
needs because he is ruining all of this and I think Alfie is within his right to do what he did you buy me like a [ __ ] child this is a man's wall they get a print off I've seen the corner like a little boy [ __ ] off yeah [Music] call minutes are four minutes he talked to me about how I realized the chalk mark on the barrel but the heart is that Hamilton Christmas took out the pin and put it on the wire I think that seemed there could be the best one
in the whole clip where let's go back to the pin B and hand it over just watch Alfie as in Tom Hardy in this scene here so from now for the next maybe four or five seconds he goes and picks up the pin but he holds intense eye contact the entire time I think this is one of the most alpha moves I've ever seen [Music] what's so impressive too is the speed at which he moves that let's watch this again he moves very very slowly but then he pulls the pin in front of his eyes
so he doesn't actually have to break eye contact is so impressive watch this watch the speed [Music] tommy's actually fidget in there that's actually not great move you know I think that I contact was so intense that you know it's made him feel uncomfortable I know it's just a film guys or a series but I think that's the effect the director's gone for and you would see this a lot in real life he would see the Alpha making the other one fidget and I think Alfie's really stepped it up just there and he's taking control
based on this again morphogen forty five percent thirty oh [ __ ] that's 40 in France mr. Solomon so while I was a tunnel that clay kicker one seven nine I blew up Schwaben Oh same here so amusing today funny that [Music] the way the Alpheus leant forward there it means that he's got his attention you know that intrigued UMI's both men are actually leaning forward here so it's a good battle I'll just explain what I mean leaning forward means as well is usually the person who's leaning forward is trying to get the attention and
the other person they're showing that they're more important and they're leaning in because they want to they want to be heard and they want to hear what the other person has to say and it's kind of like you know the most popular one in any social circle they don't even have to sit in the middle but they become the middle everybody kind of gravitates around them they could be sat on the end but people would kind of direct their attention down to the end of the table and suddenly it would just feel as though it's
the middle of the conversation it's very weird how that happens it's like an aura that makes people gravitate towards it and when you lean in it's just not a good look it's not good move you're kind of saying this is this person is more important than me I want to hear what they have to say if you're ever in a group lean back let people come to you 1 7 9 and I don't know still got sounds out are you digging yourself now [Music] listen I'll give you 45 said - you know thirty-five and something
we don't have anymore in the modern era is a good strong handshake with eye contact being held a lot of people now will do different variations of handshakes you know we've got this stupid coronavirus elbow bump right now which I hope doesn't stay it's just the stupidest thing I've ever seen you know you're still touching each other what do you think is gonna happen my butt holding strong eye contact while shaking hands a lot guys want to shake hands look away look to the side look down just be a man abide just shake hands look
somebody in the eye you know just to have some self-respect [Music] this scene here is very important just to end let's do a little breakdown of see if I can get this example ok I've missed it bear with me so here what we can see let's just break this down as a singular image so we've got a perfect example here of somebody who is an alpha male you know wide stance hand is wide he's taking up a lot of space he's put it on this man's back and invading somebody's personal space is an alpha male
move so if you touch in especially so if you see photos of guys together the guy who's in the middle with his hands around the shoulders of the two guys on the side and the two guys either side they might have that their hands clasped over their penis you know the guy in the middle is the alpha male and the other two are kind of shouted they're blocking their hides in a way you know it's very rare that you get to people with their arms around the shoulders of everybody it's a very alpha male move
but we can see here another hand whines you know and then we've got this situation over here which I think I use a different color for is that too much if I use pink is that is that not PC now that's fine what has happened to you guys am I allowed to use the pink yeah great okay so you know first of all he's got his hand tucked away under here he's got his elbow tucked in real close to his body his hand and arm tucked in close to his body so the amount of space
he's taking up is very very minimal everything is everything is protected he's protecting his vital organs his midsection you know he's his feet look as though they're gonna be stood quite close together there's not really a gap that I can see there so I imagine that he stood quite close together he's got his he's got the cigarette here perched up high like we said earlier is not good move you know maybe you should have that around about down here you know you see a lot of alpha males with their hand pointed down here holding a
cigarette low ash in it on the floor that looks pretty cool you know and then also we've got him like his shoulders alright his shoulders here a white his look as though they're tucked maybe that's just his natural frame but he's also got his back to a wall which is quite a scared move and then also he stood to the side of the door which is normal he wouldn't stand in front of a door but you can just see that he's just like a scared rabbit in the headlights like everything about him just says beta
male and everything here says alpha male and especially like I said when the two come together and I think there's a clear Banja fantastic that's gonna save a bit of time in the future guys but you can see the difference here between the two if you just look at that picture this kind of shows you what you should be doing what you shouldn't be doing and I think that's a great scene to end on so thank you guys for watching I hope you enjoyed this one it's my second attempt at this it was a pain
in the ass getting a copyright it's not really a strike is it kind of a warning from BBC but who really cares so we've got this one now so I hope you guys enjoy it and I'll see you all soon
