God, Search My Heart and Remove What’s Not from You | Psalm 51 | Morning Prayer

today let's take a moment to read Psalm 51 and then we'll pray together this Psalm is not just David's prayer it is a cry from the depths of a soul that has fallen a soul that longs to be restored it is one of the most powerful prayers of repentance in all of scripture and it speaks to the heart of every believer who has ever felt the weight of sin and the longing for Redemption this Psalm was written by King David during one of the dark moments of his life after he fell into sin by committing

adultery with bath Sheba and initiating the subsequent cover up that led to the death of her husband Uriah when confronted by the prophet Nathan David was utterly broken he realized the weight of his sin and How Deeply it had distanced him from God in his anguish he cried out to the Lord not with excuses or justifications but with a heart laid bare eing for Mercy cleansing and renewal and now the truth is this is not just David's story this is our story every one of us has sinned no one is exempt there are moments in

our lives when we have wandered when we have chosen our own way instead of God's when we have spoken words we should not have said or done things we knew were wrong sometimes we feel the weight of it immediately other times we push it aside convincing ourselves that it's not a big deal but sin is never a small thing it weighs on the soul it clouds the heart it distances us from the joy of walking in close fellowship with the Lord yet in the midst of our failures God calls us back he does not cast

us away he does not reject a humble repentant heart his love is greater than our worst mistakes and and his Mercy is deeper than our greatest failures if there is anything in your heart today any unspoken regret any hidden guilt any burden of sin that you've been carrying don't hold on to it don't let it Rob you of the peace God desires for you the enemy wants to keep you trapped in shame Whispering that you are too far gone that God won't forgive you that your past defines you but that is a Lie the truth

is Jesus came name for the broken the weary The Sinner in need of Grace and when you bring your heart before him fully honestly humbly he does not turn you away he washes you he renews you he restores you so as we read the words of Psalm 51 I want to encourage you don't just listen with your ears listen with your heart imagine David's desperation hear the sorrow in his voice voice as he cries out to God feel the depth of his repentance the weight of his Brokenness and the hope that comes from knowing that

God is full of Mercy let this Psalm remind you that sin no matter how appealing in the moment never leads to True Joy it may offer fleeting pleasure but in the end it only brings separation regret and destruction and yet there is hope there is Grace there is a way back now let's read Psalm 51 have mercy on me oh God according to your unfailing love according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin for I know my transgressions and my sin is always before

me against you you only have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight so you are right in your verdict and Justified when you judge surely I was sinful at Birth sinful from the time my mother conceived me yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb you taught me wisdom in that secret place cleanse me with hsip and I will be clean wash me and I will be whiter than snow let me hear joy and gladness let the bones you have crushed Rejoice hide your face from my sins and blot out all my

iniquity create in me a pure heart oh God and renew a steadfast Spirit within me do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing Spirit to sustain me then I will teach transgressors your ways so that Sinners will turn back to you deliver me from the guilt of Bloodshed oh God you who are God my savior and my tongue will sing of your righteousness open my lips Lord and my mouth will declare your praise you do not Delight

in sacrifice or I would bring it you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings My Sacrifice oh God is a broken Spirit a broken and contrite heart you God will not despise may it please you to prosper Zion to build up the walls of Jerusalem then you will Delight in the sacrifices of the righteous in burnt offerings offered whole then bulls will be offered on your altar now let us pray together Heavenly Father father thank you for your word which speaks life into my soul which convicts and corrects me which leads me in the way

of truth thank you for your spirit who dwells within me guiding me in wisdom stirring my heart when I wander and drawing me back when I have gone astray Lord without you I am nothing without your your mercy I am lost but because of your unfailing love I can come before you no longer as a slave to sin but as your redeemed child father I cannot ignore the weight of my shortcomings I have sinned I have allowed distractions to pull me away from you I have let my thoughts be consumed by things that do not

honor you I have spoken words that I should have held back I have acted out of selfishness out of Pride out of impatience there have been moments when I have known what is right and still chosen my own way Lord I do not come before you to justify myself I do not seek to excuse my failures I come in honesty with a heart exposed before you asking for your mercy have mercy on me oh God wash me clean purify my heart remove every stain of sin every lingering guilt every hidden fault within me if I

have allowed Darkness to take root in my heart if I have held on to bitterness resentment or unforgiveness Lord uproot it if I have entertained thoughts that are not pleasing to you if I have given room to Temptation Lord cleanse my mind if I have spoken words in Anger if I have hurt others knowingly or unknowingly forgive me if my desires have been selfish if I have placed my own will above yours Lord I Repent your word says in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked who can know it

but you Lord are the one who searches the heart you see what I cannot so I ask search me today examine the depths of my being Shine Your Light into the hidden places of my soul and reveal to me anything that is not of you expose every impurity every false motive every sin that I may not even be fully aware of I do not want to hide from you Lord I do not want to cling to anything that Separates Me from you create in me a clean heart oh God renew a steadfast Spirit Within Me

replace my weary wandering heart with one that beats only for you give me a heart that longs for righteousness a heart that desires your presence Above All Else as you promised in Ezekiel 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you I will remove from you Your Heart of Stone and give you a heart of Flesh Lord I Hold On To This Promise today make my heart tender to your voice soften it so that I may be sensitive to your leading remove the barriers I have placed between you and

me and draw me closer than ever before I thank you Father that you are not a God who keeps a record of confessed sins your word declares in 1 John 1:9 that if we confess our sins you are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness and so I stand on this truth today I do not come before you in shame I do not dwell on my failures I stand in the confidence of your mercy knowing that I am forgiven knowing that my sins have been washed away by the precious blood

of Jesus but Lord I do not want to take your grace for granted I do not want to confess my sins and return to them as if nothing has changed I ask you strengthen me help me to walk in righteousness give me discernment to recognize the enemy's schemes so that I do not fall into the same traps again let me not be easily swayed by temptation but let me stand firm in your truth place a holy conviction within me so that I may flee from sin and run toward you Lord keep my heart from wandering

keep my mind fixed on things above let me not be dist distracted by the temporary pleasures of this world but help me to seek after what is eternal give me a hunger for your word a thirst for your presence a desire to know you more deeply let my soul be completely satisfied in you alone and father I ask not only for myself but for all who are seeking you today restore to us the joy of your salvation let us never lose our Wonder at the magnitude of your grace let us never grow numb to the

miracle of forgiveness fill our hearts with gratitude with praise with a renewed passion to live for you and as you transform us may Our Lives be a testimony of your goodness May others see your mercy at work in us and be drawn to you surrender Lord I lay down my burdens I lay down my failures I lay down my pride my fears my desires everything let my life be a Living Sacrifice holy and pleasing to you Let My Words bring you honor let my actions reflect your love let my heart be fully devoted to you

Lord fill me fill me with more of you more love love more joy more peace more patience more kindness more faithfulness more gentleness more self-control let my life be a vessel of your spirit an instrument of your grace Use Me For Your Glory this is my prayer Lord keep me close to you let nothing separate me from your presence let my heart never grow cold my faith never waver My Love For You Never Fade hold me in your hands and guide me every step of the way I ask all of this in the mighty precious
