Devotion Is Higher intelligence; Ego Is the Lack of Intelligence

there's a much greater intelligence that operates in the universe much greater than your tidy intellect the very intelligence that animates my body that can open and close my hand contract my muscles breathe my lungs on and on and on there's only one intelligence active there's only one power acting in the universe if we're full of content we won't see it we'll be too distracted with our thoughts and our feelings and emotions and traumas and pain and we have to mute those noises within us and become more entranced by reality all around us and so this is why perhaps the most important thing we can do is to study the universe everything in in nature everything in the universe will teach you who God is and who you are this is an intangible Eternal gift that nobody can take from you and nobody can give to [Music] you this week Selena and I watched a really amazing documentary on Netflix which I'm certain that most of you have seen called fantastic fungi so we watched this documentary fantastic fungi which I highly recommend and you know it's just this incredible documentary on Netflix about mycelium and fungi and all that they do all that they are um you know talks about the fact that the entire Earth every every sentient life form on Earth basically evolved from fungi it talks about how fungi are like the digestive system of the earth which recycle dead matter and return it back to living matter which can be then again imbued with life and Consciousness and it's this endless cycle of death and rebirth giving and receiving right and it also shows some pretty amazing things about just how deep and pervasive fungi are in the earth uh they show these really cool CGI kind of animations of the trees and the root systems and stuff but it shows that if you're walking through the forest let's say or even on a hiking trail or something every single step footstep that you take there is 350 miles of mycelium Network just beneath your footprint every single footprint so it's like this hyper intelligent neuronal Network under the Earth which allows again trees to share information and uh biologists have recently discovered that trees share nutrients with each other they're like fully serviced to others uh you know giving and receiving nutrients life information about the environment potential threats this and that defense chemicals the melium act as the communication device for all of that to go on and so there's just this entire universe of intelligence right beneath our feet which is of course Mother Earth's Consciousness at work and when you look at these pictures of what you know scientists assume the universe probably looks like if we could zoom out far enough it looks like this giant melium Network some of you have probably seen this picture of the the universe all the galaxies when zoomed out from Super far away it looks just like a mycelium Network underground and so it's like here again is this spiritual theme we've talked about balancing paradoxes or resolving paradoxes holding doomies is uh what spiritual balancing is and really the whole spiritual path is really that living in the dichotomy of Earth and Heaven physical and divine we're in both places at once at all times and we're unaware of it and just beneath our feet is an entire universe of incomprehensible Beauty and wonder and intelligence but most of us have no clue it exists and so we don't really see the vibrantly alive radiant universe that God has created created we see a flat dead Placid boring repetitious predictable universe and so what is that attitude what is that practice what is that mindset that will open our eyes to receive the sheer wonder and Majesty of the universe such that it would overwhelm us with love and joy it's devotion devotion gives us the eyes to see these things so you know Selena and I are sitting there watching uh this documentary a few nights ago and we're just like tearing up you know at this unbelievable documentary marveling at Nature's intelligence and seeing it from a whole new perspective just kind of having that mystical experience that some of those amazing documentaries can provoke and uh I couldn't help but start thinking about you know this is why devotion matters this is why Devotion to God is the highest form of intelligence that there is and so here's my first point for today's conversation devotion the attitude of devotion is what happens during the dawning of true intelligence in the mind A Spiritual Awakening we could say is the dawning of true intelligence true awareness of the Majestic Universe we live in and a mind that is clouded with ego Consciousness and Trauma and pain and fear cannot not see it right it's as if it doesn't exist but when we open our our spiritual eyes to perceive the universe we're just a struck with Wonder at everything we look at and that's really what the devotional attitude is is like this constant reverent worship and adoration and surrender to the divine power and everything so devotion is true intelligence and it's what happens it is the result of it is the effect of the dawning of true intelligence in the mind mind when Spiritual Awakening happens and True Divine intelligence begins to expand our mind our Consciousness the the response of the body mind is a devotional attitude cuz what what other attitude could you possibly have before the presence of such overwhelming Perfection do you know what I mean what other attitude is fitting for that realization so we can call it spiritual intelligence for sure that's what devotion is but really like devotion is when you understand that there's a much greater intelligence that operates in the universe much greater than your tiny intellect right and so you learn to keep your tiny intellect aside your ego and you understand that it really doesn't know anything you know it only relates to past Concepts it never sees the now moment and so you learn that about your mind and you learn how to keep that part of you aside the part of that thinks that it knows the part of you that thinks I'm the most important person this is my show and everyone else is just living in it this is my world it revolves around me I'm the most important person in the room when I walk in my needs matter more than other people's needs that is spiritual blindness right you're living in a a dark room where you're stumbling through the darkness banging into things you can't see anything that's really there it's hidden from you but only that Divine intelligence really knows knows anything and so when you see that when you recognize that you gladly and willingly submit yourself to that Divine intelligence every day it is your highest joy to submit yourself to the Divine intelligence in every moment it's a giving up of living from the reference point of the lower self and a submission to the higher self it is the recognition that my own higher self the very intelligence that animates my body that can open and close my hand contract my muscles breathe my lungs on and on and on that same intelligence is in the melium network underground that's building the entire planet that same intelligence is shining the nuclear energy of the sun through the solar system on and on and on there's only one intelligence active there's only one power acting in the universe and that is my higher self so it's this willing joyful glad submission of the lower self to the higher self seeing it like you know one grain of sand in the ocean my lower self my egoic nature my personal identity is just like one little grain of sand in the ocean you know innumerable are the grains of sand in the ocean you couldn't even begin to count them we can't even estimate it it's impossible so you you see that that's how insignificant your personal individual self is and all your personal desires and your personal needs and so you simply opt to be the ocean rather than the grain of sand and so in that way you don't lose yourself when you surrender to the Divine intelligence to the higher self you don't lose the lower self there's nowhere for it to go there's only one being but rather it merges into the hole right the part merges back into the hole which it had separated itself from and so you learn to keep your puny little egoic intellect out of the business of the now moment you know it still will arise it'll still do its thing and try to chirp in and chime in with its narration and opinions but you just notice it as the voice of ignorance yeah becomes obvious to you because you've already seen how all pervasive and perfect that Divine intelligence is it's matchless it's incomparable it always knows it's always right it's always in the perfect timing you just get used to that idea it just settles in you somewhere and you're like ah nothing for me to do nothing for me to figure out no great conquests to be won no great battle to be waged no mountain to be ascended it's already Perfection happening and I am that so devotion does not mean just doing prayer and chanting and meditation all day I said this last week or the week before but devotion is not a monastic discipline or a ritualistic practice if your devotion is purely ritualistic meaning you have these set times and intervals of okay I pray at 8:00 a. m. and then meditate at 9:00 a.

m. and then at 12:00 I take a moment for prayer chanting at 2:00 p. m.
