hi my name is Ryan welcome to my channel I'm going to take you through the 1983 classic heart-to-heart by Kenny loggin it is part of Yacht Rock folklore and it's easier to play I have to tell you this is more for people who are at least intermediate in terms of their piano playing so let's go here's the intro [Music] okay let's stop it right there because if we were to go back just a little bit and I'll do that we're going to rewatch this again I don't know that I can go back oh yeah I
can let's just go back to the beginning all right back to the beginning the intro centers around a minor 7th and then a variation of that c on top of a d so when you actually do that little riff at the beginning you're playing GC on top of an a it's essentially a minor 7 and then you work up to D with that c on top of it but you are resolving to a g and specifically it is a g7th let's watch that again with that in mind that's essentially an A Minor 7th that little
chord that makes it sound so good that's a diminished that's a b diminished or an F diminished or a gsh diminish however you want to look at it it's the thing that takes you from the resolution to the G back up to the a minor 7th one more [Music] time all right let's stop it right there I want you to pay attention to what I'm doing with with my left hand as we move throughout this it's very crucial in this song uh in the intro in the chorus I'm going to talk about it but I
just want you to watch it kind of on repeat one more time watch my left [Music] hand e e f f SHP I'm sorry e f FP G and then we just rock it right here that's an important part right there that A B flat E F F sharp G watch that just again one more time [Music] c d e f f sharp G and then watch this turn right here all right let's get into the verse D Minor 7th we vacillate between the C and the [Music] B [Music] CB back to G let's do
the verse one more time this is a D Minor 7th and then we just take that uh sth and make it a a flat the base goes for b c c Shar D resolves back to G now to the [Music] chorus okay so what's that transition there that transition there is going to be an E minor 7th e GB D we're just I'm just playing a G chord on top of the E E minor 7th B minor 7th a minor 9th let's just watch that one more time if I can just get back just a
dab it probably won't let me get all the way all right yeah okay here we [Music] go a minor 9th B minor 7th D Minor 7th g a a minor 9th and then B flat f d g c all right we're going to go back to that a little bit because we've shown you the intro I've shown you the verse the verse is pretty easy it's a D Minor 7th to a D Minor 7th with the seventh being flat um and then we go to this bridge here which is beautiful E minor 7th B minor
7th a minor 9th B minor 7th D Minor 7th G A minor 7th B minor I'm sorry A minor 9th B minor 7th D Minor 7th um and then before we get to the course it's that uh it is a B flat major 7th F major 7th D Minor 7th G C all right so let's just go back just to dab little bit more okay here we [Music] go a minor 9 B flat F D G C D Minor GC B flat D minor G C A [Music] minor reintroducing the intro all right let's just
go through the chorus again because you're going to see a lot of things that uh you're just going to see over and over from the bridge and the verse to the chorus uh the chorus is essentially it starts with a a c but it's not just a c it is a uh C major 7th it's really sort of a C major 9th um C but then watch the walk down with the left hand you start with C B B flat a a minor 9th B minor 7th D Minor 7th g c walk it back down
to the A and then to the B flat so let's just watch that again all right [Music] aor 9th Bor 7th dor 7th g e a minor 9th B minor 7th B flat f d g c walk it down B minor 7th D minor G C walk it down B flat DG c walk it down B flat this is just the intro [Music] again all right g7th just rock it right here and then let's go back right into the verse b c c Shar D that walk back [Music] up G I don't W to leave
I don't want to say goodbye I can't [Music] sing G here we go what is the bridge E minor E minor B minor a minor 9th B minor 7th D minor G A minor 9th B minor 7th B flat f d g c walk it down B minor 7th D Minor 7th g c back up B flat d g c walk it [Music] down all right I'm just going to take you right into the bridge right here G E minor f g how was I to know love that's come from and diminished and it's just
basically riff over the intro a minor 9 to [Music] D if you enjoy this tutorial I would highly encourage you to subscribe I would love that and let me know which one I should do next back to the bridge E minor knife minor knife dor 7th G A minor 9th Bor 7th B flat F D G [Music] C B flat major 7th oh yeah now that we gr aart hard to does anything last [Music] forever if you have any questions about this leave it in the comments um this is geared mostly to folks who can
