Hey you and welcome. My name is Mike and in this old video it all starts with a disappearance at two actually. >> Yeah.
>> Police department here a notch or so >> when police were called to a house in Medford if you can believe that to a friy. The scene they discovered was about as bad as it gets. It ended up leading to a young couple in love and probably the toughest guy I've ever seen.
Content warning because he will give you nightmares. nightmares so bad you will wake up laughing with how much of a [ __ ] he is. Before we get into it, please subscribe to see new stories for the dark every single week.
Now, let's give it a go. >> [music] >> Medford, a city in the rolling hills of southern Oregon. O big dogs.
It actually has a sort of a higher crime rate uh than a lot of the country. And this story won't help that. Sorry, Medford Medford Deians.
But what that does mean is that police in this city were very used to receiving 911 calls. So, this ain't going to be one of them. It never happens here.
It won't be one of those types of stories at all because this type of story never happens anywhere. Three young people, two boys and a girl, had been planning, pondering, and other synonyms, you know, in the dark hours of the wolf. Something pretty horrifying.
Though, if you look at their plans, it's like they were written in crayon. As horrific as these plans were, though, they didn't see it that way. And of those three, one of them was delighted, licking his chops to get some blood on his hands.
The morning of October 2nd, 2017, was cool. Autumn, given its first real, "How are you doing? " as the leaves fall.
That morning, shortly before 7:00 a. m. , a 911 call came in requesting a welfare check be done at a house in the 500 block of Benson Street, a pretty quiet suburban area southeast of downtown Medford.
Living in that house was Aaron Frier, 50 years of age, and his three daughters, eldest named Ellen. She went by Ellie, 15 years of age, followed by Sierra and Olivia. Now, Aaron was known to be like just the nicest guy in the world.
Whatever you needed doing, sure, wouldn't he be the first type of help? Like a very a guy in your neighborhood who you want to know because anything's going on. First protocol BR.
He had been married before to a woman named Maggie, but they had divorced. And that seems to have been pretty rocky for everybody involved. By all accounts, it seems though that now in, you know, autumn 2017, they were on pretty good terms.
They were, you know, raising their daughters together. Every other week, they would be staying with, you know, the other parent. And they were doing a fine job of it, too.
The living was good in Medford, Oore. Until it wasn't, of course. It was Maggie, Aaron's ex-wife, who called the police in the early hours of that morning at around 6:45 a.
m. >> Yes, that's where he lives. Okay.
But there's nobody there right now. I'm just calling because we don't know where my ex I don't know where my ex-husband or my oldest daughter is. >> I understand that.
Something happened at the house. Something happened over there. Okay.
When did your children come to your location? >> My children came to my location. Two of my children came to my house about 15 minutes ago.
>> Okay. And what did they tell you exactly? Their dad's gone.
Their older sister's gone. And there's blood everywhere. >> Okay.
>> Something happened at this something happened at this house and we don't know where my oldest daughter is. We think she's right with the next with a boy. A boy.
>> The tree girls, their three daughters, had been staying at Aaron's house. But at about 6:30 a. m.
, the two younger girls, Sierra and Olivia, had just shown up at their mom's house, banging on the door. They were saying something was horribly wrong. They had heard strange noises during the night, and then when they had finally gotten up, they couldn't find either their dad, Aaron, or their eldest sister, Ellie.
They said that the night before all had been normal until one point when they were going to bed, Ellen had said goodbye to them both and that she hoped she would see them again someday. A very cryptic and sort of worrying uh perfectly normal thing to say. Then the two youngests, Sierra and Olivia, they went to bed.
They shared a bedroom, fell asleep, but middle of the night at around 500 a. m. they were awoken.
Sierra would say she was awoken by all by a fierce racket. She had heard her dad yelling the f-word. She had heard a dinging noise.
She had heard a glass smash. She'd heard like the the sounds of something heavy being like dragged and moved from, you know, somewhere else in the house. And she had seen two shadowy figures walk by the window outside the house.
Fast forward then to this morning. Sierra and Olivia, they wake up and they were pretty young. I mean, Sierra was in middle school.
Olivia was in elementary school. So, they weren't exactly, you know, used to being like left alone in the morning. They're walking around the house.
They can't find their dad nor their eldest sister. The eldest sister had been sleeping in their dad's bedroom. Their dad had been sleeping on the couch.
They can just see like a mess sort of like everywhere. But more than that, they could see on the walls and around the couch where their dad had been sleeping, little spatters of what appeared to be blood. No sign of their dad nor their sister, but there were signs of the worst possible kind.
They then ran to their mom's house, which wasn't far away, and Maggie called the police. Not for police. Not for police.
Police department here and not yourself. >> There's blood everywhere. >> Yeah.
>> Police department here and not yourself. That's uh >> brain matter. >> Brain matter.
>> Let's get out of here. >> All right. Let's back out.
>> Yep. >> Lock it down. The Medford police did a welfare check and found that spatter in the living room.
Spatter meaning high impact hit. And with no people here, they must have been taken away, possibly murdered. And then there was a trail of blood leading from the living room to the carport at the side of the house.
Had a body been, you know, carried to a vehicle and then, you know, vroom vroom. You >> kind of see it starts from there and kind of goes all the way out and dirt goes out towards the carport. >> Yeah.
Sure as [ __ ] looked that way because Aaron Frier's car, it wasn't here. Luckily though, a neighbor, the next door neighbor, had CCTV on their property. So, knocking on his door, doing an investigation into your neighbor.
Have you got any CCTV? We see you got a camera. They could see Aaron Ferrar's car leaving at about 5:30 a.
m. Impossible though to say who or what was inside. A bolo be on the lookout alert was then put out for that very car to all officers in the Medford area.
The investigation had begun, but the begun was not good. Missing dad likely dead. Missing girl Ellie 15 runaway murdered also whom knows kidnapped her chance.
that chance be. Maybe Sierra though was able to tell of those two shadowy figures she had seen walking back and forth outside her bedroom window. There was two there were two men, young men.
One of them, she didn't know who it was. Didn't recognize him. The other one, though, she was able to say she had seen that morning was a guy named Gavin McFarland.
He was Ellie Frier's boyfriend. Ellie Frier was a sophomore at South Medford High School. She was a good student and a great musician.
Big into band practice. She got a little bit of talent from her L fellow. She was so good, she even played bass clarinet.
I didn't even know there was two of them in the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon. Well, I'll be damned. And you know who else should be damned?
That's damn Gavin McFarland. He was 19 years of age, four years older than Ellie. And they had met in high school, but he was a dropout.
His nickname was Trenchy. He says, quote, "Your ass is grass and I am the mower. " That's three things you cannot get away with when you look like this.
But Ellie, heavens to Betsy, she thought Gav Gavin McFarland was the coolest kid in town. He's the bee's knees. He'd show up, you know, pimples glistening, struggling to lift his backpack, saying, "He's the lawn mower.
" And she would say, "Doesn't get any better than that. " She'd been through her parents' divorce, which as I said had been rocky, and sometimes it can lead teens to make some very poor choices. Getting into a relationship with Gavin McFarland was a poor choice.
Now, to be fair, Gavin, though, was going through some tough times himself. He had dropped out of high school. He had been kicked out of his stepdad's place.
He was couch surfing, basically, just living paycheck to paycheck at the restaurant where he worked. He seemed directionless. And Gavin had a friend, a friend named Russell Jones.
And these two guys alone, [ __ ] together, dangerous. I mean, we will get into it, but Russell the protector, what a [ __ ] headbanger he is. Some people Medford, who knew him, taught that Gavin and Russell, they're just the local gobshites.
Dumb and Dumber, the gruesome tusome. One of the people who really didn't like Gavin McFarland was Aaron Frier, to the point he forbade his daughter from seeing him. That was a good choice on Aaron's part. a good choice that would have horrifying consequences for him and for everybody.
So, the police knew they needed to find Gavin. Also, as Sierra could say, he had been at the house that morning. Now, both Ellie and Aaron's cell phones were found at the at the house.
So, you know, they knew where they were, but they would be able to track Gavin McFarland's cell phone and hopefully be able to find him. Cell phone tracking all the rage these days, and it led the police to the opposite side of town. It didn't give them an exact location.
So, what the authorities did was simply drive around the area. It seemed like, well, whatever happened last night, earlier this morning, they, whoever they were, had driven away in Aaron's car. So, they knew what they were looking for.
And hiding a car isn't easy. But what was easy for the police was finding it. It was right there, parked on the road.
Under the trunk was blood. Blood had been dripping down. At this point, it seemed likely that Aaron had been in the trunk.
Blood was pooling in there and then his body had been removed. Blood was found all over the car, in fact. But what wasn't was anybody else, and they knew that the car had not been there long, as you know, touching the engine, it was still warm.
Now, this was at maybe 10 a. m. and the police had first been alerted at like 7:00 a.
m. So, from that car, they simply spread out a net like a 5 mile radius. Hopefully, they'll catch something.
They can't have gotten far. And you didn't see this coming. They hadn't.
Okay, maybe you did see that coming. It was at 11:00 a. m.
The police found not just Ellie, but Gavin and his best buddy Russell also. All three of them just walking along the side of the road, whistling Dixie, thinking about the bright future ahead. After all, they had likely just murdered a man.
So, after doing something like that, it's all downhill from here. Their futures are most definitely downhill from here. And Russell matched the description of the other man Sierra had seen outside her window that morning.
>> Do you have ID with your name on there? >> No, I don't. I hardly ever carry my ID around.
>> Okay. >> But did you happen to notice my wrist at all? >> Your what?
>> My wrists. >> Your wrists? What about them?
>> I think one could dislocate my wrist. Okay. Don't do that though, please.
>> Okay. You seem like a nice one. I appreciate it.
>> I won't make it hard on you, >> right? >> I only make it hard on the bad ones. >> Okay.
>> The police needed to know where and what happened to Aaron Fer. So Ellie, Gavin, and Russell were all taken in and questioned separately. Now you've got kind of like a Rashimon type situation where it's like interviewing three of them separately.
Who do you believe? Ah, it's like that only if everybody telling the story was a complete and utter dumbass and it was pretty easy to see true to lies. >> Hi.
>> Hello. >> Are you Ellie? >> No.
Then I would like to know why I'm detained. >> Okay. So, we got a call of concern at your house today and your little sisters are pretty scared about what happened there and so what we're doing is trying to figure out what happened and the police went to your house and we're also a little bit worried about what's going on over there.
So, this morning your little sisters ran over to your mom's house and told your mom about something that worried them that they saw in in your house. Okay. And what that was was a large amount of blood.
And they described a few things that you had been doing at the house. Kind of the way you said goodbye and that it worried them because they weren't sure if they were going to see you again and they love you. And that really worried them a lot about where you were going and why you were leaving so quick because they care about you and they love you.
>> Yeah. What did they see? >> That's what I'm going to ask you.
>> To be honest, I don't have a clue. >> Mhm. Ellie, she went with she had left the house that night and [snorts] you know when she had left everything was grand.
Nobody was attacked. There was no blood. Her dad was there.
She said, "I'll see you later. " And he said, "Great. " >> You said that there was a large amount of blood.
Is everybody okay? >> That's what we're trying to figure out. >> Yeah.
They're scared that they saw you leaving. They're scared there's a blood in your house and they're scared that nobody knows where your dad is. So they're awfully little to have those kinds of worries.
>> Maybe he was looking for me. >> So where did all the blood come from in your house? >> I don't know.
>> You were there. Sierra was there. Olivia was there.
Your dad was there. So it would be nice if we could get some of this figured out. So what have you been up to today?
>> I haven't been home and now I'm really concerned about what's been going on. >> Mhm. Where were you?
>> Out. >> Like out where? >> Just out and about.
Couldn't sleep. I'm too tired to keep talking. I'm really sorry.
>> You want to take a little break? Okay. Where's your dad?
>> I don't know. I'm worried about my dad, too. From what you've said, there's blood at the house and he's gone.
>> Yes. She had run away to be with her boyfriend and there had been no violent confrontation. Blood found in my house.
You got to be [ __ ] me. Meanwhile, the wild card Russell Jones, he was also being questioned. >> Probably sound so that people uh >> Well, people can get loud and hold themselves cuz sometimes we bring like drunks here from driving.
>> Drnks are the worst. >> Yeah. >> Not a big fan of them.
>> Not a big fan of them. His strategy was pure pure chef's kiss. Pure gold.
>> He's insane. Don't you know? >> He sort of played this like he was going to be the twisted joker.
Like he was he was going to drive the detectives insane. >> I'm not demanding. I'm asking nicely as a kind civilian that also knows how to manipulate cops.
Let's make a deal. One, Vince for the food. Two, I see Ellie and Davin because they are both under my protection.
Three, before you release Ellie to her parents or parent. So, we can do this the nice way or we can do it the hard way and I can release my bipolar. >> Russell Jones, as you can probably already tell, bit of a character.
Uh, he didn't have an easy life. his life was was pretty tough and he didn't make it any easier on himself either. He was autistic and bipolar and had been homeless on and off.
He definitely seems like someone who had been a victim of something probably when he was a child for sure. In 2015, when Russell was 19 or 20 years old, he was convicted of thirdderee sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16 and sentenced to probation and community service. So, you might be thinking, you know, woof, we got a bad ombre over here.
Well, not really, because that very same year he was convicted of sexually abusing a child. He decided he was going to turn it all around because he only graduated from the school of victimhelpers. I tried googling school of victimhelpers in Medford.
Didn't bring up anything. I think he's the first graduate. This is his actual Facebook.
It's pretty interesting. He had some interesting ideas as you can see. Hey everyone, my name is Russell Jones.
I'm looking to help anyone who is a homeless teen, ran away from or want to leave a bad family situation, kicked out, abusive relationship, teen parents that parents say abort, but that want their child, that have parents that are getting a divorce, that is stalked, that have legal issues that wasn't their fault. List goes on. Area of help, Ashland to Grants Pass.
If you have or don't have money, I don't care. I will help anyone 25 and under. I currently live in Central Point, Oregon, but hope if I help enough people to expand to Grants Pass, then to a exmilitary bunker that can hold 700 people.
I'm looking for a select group of people under 30 to assist me in making a Red Dawn Expendables A Team group. Anyone in the USA only. I'm not aggested USA, just more of a patriot than most people.
Oh, I'm against. Okay, that's what it means. I know secrets that even zone 51 don't even know.
P. S. even the real reason why Kennedy is 6 feet under.
Two words, government cover up. So, do Russell do. Mother of God, he's putting together a team.
Though more than that, he used his alter ego Facebook account because he doesn't want a government USA bad person to accumulate him or something like that. Tell us about yourself, Russell or Mike Smith. That was his uh online pseudonym.
So, you know, he wanted his secret identity. Honestly, and I say this as a fellow Mike. You can choose a better name.
Collecting cool things. All right. Building cool things.
Great. helping protect others in a neutral way. Okay, not sure what that means at all, but good for you.
Then he posted in an album one month before all of this unfolded. What I do for a living, protect people. No feds assistance.
Cops don't care. Buy the book. Can sometimes 50/50 my plan 9 out of 10 works.
Did a dog write this? Then it's just lots of pictures with him and others with guns uh training and a samurai sword. So it seems like Russell uh took on this sort of identity as like a force for good.
You know protecting others kind of like a Batman style character, a vigilante, you know, a dark knight if you will. And he took Gavin and Ellie under his wing. >> Actually started my own protection business.
>> You actually started a what business? >> Protection business. What kind of protection?
>> Um, when people are uh like I know it's kind of risky. >> Uhhuh. >> But I work with people 20 and younger to runway.
>> Okay. So, you're going to protect like runaways. >> Well, they to run away for some reason.
>> So, you provide protection for runaways and get them like a place to live. >> Yeah. >> Okay.
>> And he told all this to the police. Sure. He's basically one of them.
He was like, you know, went in there, had a cigarette, and cop to cop, I'll tell you what really happened. We're basically on the same side. >> Like, I protect people, like I said, but um I try not to resort to violence.
>> Good. >> I always try and talk to the person. >> Uh her father is a drunk >> compared to what she's told me.
And I've only talked to him over the phone probably once or twice. >> He seemed really not that good of a father. >> Really?
Yeah, he uh >> her father. >> Yeah. >> Who was her father's name?
You know, >> I all I know about is uh Aaron. >> I did go over that morning because Ellen Ellie Frier's dad, Aaron, he was abusing her. He had to go.
He had to go. >> My plan was to um tie him in the woods, have a stern talking to him. like you do not do that to your family.
And hopefully that would scare him and me and uh Gavin and Ellie would drive off and leave him there and he can >> go to California or somewhere else. >> I mean, that's kind of read reading between the lines because he would say they just went over there that morning. They didn't have the intention of murdering anybody.
It just sort of happened. Then Russell said, "Shit, you want to see him? They drove 20 miles out of town to a remote hillside road beside a river and Russell said, "Pull over here.
" He walked along the road and pointed down the embankment. Aaron Frier's body was found on a hillside under a green tarp. Russell said he had just helped get rid of the body, get rid of Aaron Aaron Frier's body because he he knew the drill.
You know, nine out of 10, 50/50 can sometimes help. He was just there as protector, but Gavin was the one who actually murdered Aaron Frier. Russell said he stood outside the entire time.
>> Uh Gavin would have said, "Come on into the through the window. " And Gavin's got a bat. And Gavin says to you, "I'm going to take this bat and bash it over his head.
" Hypothetically, >> what would you have done? >> I would have tried to convince him only to break Aaron's rib cage, but not kill him. >> Okay.
>> Just knock him out or like one hit, knock him out, >> which then continued on with trying to convince him to once he's knocked out, put him in the car and take him to California. He was saying that, you know, when they had went there, they hadn't gone there with the intention of killing anybody, but Gavin had gone into the house, Aaron had whipped out an iron. And so Gavin was able to overpower this 50-year-old man with a gun um and killed him.
I mean, Russell's interrogation is is actually it's pretty funny, actually. It's very entertaining. I'll give him that.
Meanwhile, when Ellie being interviewed in the next room was told her dad's body has just been found, she was like, "Oh, yeah. " Now, I just I just remembered actually Russell killed my dad, not my boyfriend, Gavin. So, the finger pointing at each other has already begun.
>> Gavin seemed just as shocked that that happened as I did. >> I think Mike took it too far. And >> I think Mike might have planned something.
I don't know. >> Yeah, >> cuz I heard a knock on the door >> and Mike was the only one in the yard at that point. Then Gavin McFarland being interviewed in another interview room was saying yes.
Gavin had been fearing for his life. Aaron had found out that Gavin was dating his daughter, much younger daughter, and he was fuming. He was pissed.
Aaron had even showed up to Gavin's doorstep, knocking on his door, demanding, you know, you break up with my daughter now or else something bad will happen to you. So Gavin, fearing for his life, knew he had to do something because he wasn't going to break up with Ellie. He wasn't going to break up with the underage girl.
He was saying never. [laughter] You got to be kidding me. >> We don't know if this is something that's been planned out a long time ahead or if this was just like last night you guys decide to go over there and get Ellie the hell out of a bad situation.
So, what was the plan going over to Ellie's last night? Was it to pick up her belongings and get her out of that situation? >> Pick up some stuff and get her out of there.
Yeah. >> Okay. >> Aaron's He's helped me get a gunpoint before.
He's He's threatened my life and helped me at gunpoint before. >> Aaron has over at his house. >> Mhm.
They actually had broken up, Gavin and Ellie. Uh, briefly, but then they had gotten back together covert like sneakily. They had gotten back together.
But then Aaron found out and this time he was even doubly pissed because he knew. Aaron Frier knew that the people around his daughter were just going down a bad going down a bad path. I mean, his daughter was doing great.
She was in like the this band, the school band orchestra. She was doing well in school. And then you got Gavin who's like a deadbeat [ __ ] He did not want and it was also too old for her.
He's 19. Ellie was 15. We just he just wouldn't have it.
So Gavin in his defense was saying, "Oh, I was scared of him. " Uh he was also saying that Ellie was pregnant with his kid, which is, as I said, that's illegal cuz she's underage. So he just is admitting to committing statutory rape.
And he was also saying though that Aaron Ellie had told him that Aaron was physically and sexually abusive to Ellie. So Gavin was saying he was scared of Aaron. Uh Aaron was uh physically and sexually abusing his girlfriend and his girlfriend was pregnant.
So >> he want she wanted him dead, but I didn't want to kill him. And I was like I'm not going to kill him. She was all like, "No, I don't want him around me.
[clears throat] I don't want him around my sisters anymore. " Ellie was like, "Just wait till he falls asleep, then come in. " >> And where did you grab the bat from?
>> Where did you grab the bat from before you walked through the front room? >> But he did say ultimately that that night, that early morning, he had crept into the Frier household. He had been armed with a baseball bat and he had seen, you know, he had found Aaron Frier fast asleep on the couch.
And so he simply just, well, he demonstrated for the police. He bet Aaron to death while he slept on the couch. >> Like I just kept hitting him until I until he stopped and then I heard like gurgling and I was like what what's going on?
I'm I'm really sorry. Trying to help. Sorry.
From the wounds found on Aaron's body, um, all of that seemed to be true. He had been bet to death with a baseball bat, you know, repeated head trauma. And they even found the baseball bat.
It was found near his body, like in the trees. Somebody had just thrown it into the trees and it had caught in the branches. In Ellie's interview, she went in circles for hours before the police confronted her with more and more evidence.
what Russell was saying, showing them the body, what Gavin was saying, seemingly telling the truth, or at least facts that matched the evidence. They then began to confront young Ellie directly. >> Were you saying things like, "I want him dead.
I don't want him around anymore. >> I don't want to be around my dad anymore. " >> Mhm.
I want him out. >> Of my life. >> Okay.
Well, when you tell Gavin, I want him dead, those are pretty specific words. You kind of have been playing games with me. You know darn good and well what was going to happen today.
What happened? >> Where would you like me to start? >> I want you to start with the truth.
So tell me about your relationship with your dad. >> Well, he used to be a good father, but he started getting abusive about 3 years ago. >> Mhm.
And you had told me about a time he called you mean names. Has has that happened more than once? >> It happens all the time.
He would get drunk and where wherever I was sleeping, he would come and he would lay naked with me. >> Why me? Why does he do it to me?
I don't I have no idea what he's done to my sisters. The thing was Ellie is the youngest. She's only 15.
She's the biggest liar you will ever meet. They they could not believe a single word she said. She would lie about literally everything.
Even when they confronted her with everything they knew and she started saying things that sort of maybe matched kind of iffy squint sort of maybe matched the truth. You got to double check. You know if she told you the sky was blue maybe just look out the window.
But it seems they had planned all of this this murder the murder of Aaron Frier for a long time. The three of them had planned it. They would find uh in Gavin's house pictures, you know, maps, lists in Russell's house, too.
Maps of the frier house, so that when they went in that night, they would know exactly where he was going to be. There was a to-do list, a plan A and a plan B, ending with move to California. and discovering text messages between the three of them and specifically between Ellie and her boyfriend Gavin, the police started to believe that Ellie, 15-year-old Ellie, was in fact the mastermind of her own father's murder.
She texted Gavin. We need to make sure he's dead by the time we leave his house. You want to kill him now, don't you?
I do. You can kill him in less than a minute, right? Probably.
He's snoring, but be very quiet. Come in. Open the window.
I did. That's a 15-year-old texting a 19-year-old to murder her own dad. Ellie Ellen, it seems, was neither pregnant nor was she being abused by her dad.
She just invented those. She just lied about those things to get to motivate her boyfriend to murder her dad. Why?
I think she was just a psychopath. And psychopaths don't need reason to do a lot of [ __ ] Out of the three of them, Ellie was definitely the most startling and seemed most like a just Yeah. Just a complete psychopath.
She lied about literally everything. Her own name. Gavin's name.
Her age. >> Are you Ellie? >> No.
>> Do you go to school? >> No. >> How old are you?
>> 18. >> When did you graduate? >> CL last year.
Class of 2017. This year, sorry. Class of 2017.
I graduated with an honors diploma. That's exciting. >> Everything.
She was lying about things the police already knew. She was lying like a rug for no reason at all. Like, why would you lie about these things?
Russell hadn't gone into the house that night, but uh interestingly, he had brought a machete. Better to have it and not need it, I suppose. Gavin then went in by himself and bet and bet Aaron to death while he slept on the couch.
Then Ellie reached into her murdered father's pocket and stole cash from his wallet. Then the three of them lugged his body into the back of his own car and then drove off. They then did stop off at a Walmart.
On the way, Ellie went to get a pregnancy test. Maybe Gavin was asking for proof that she was pregnant. She wasn't.
And then they eventually dumped his body and dumped the car, started walking. Police are investigating a homicide. NBC V News was there as three people were arrested today in connection with the death.
The arrest happened on Barnett, but that isn't where the crime actually took place. Police say it all started as a welfare check early this morning on Benson Street and officers say it looked like a struggle had taken place and the resident's car was gone. Hours later, the car was located on Mariposa Terrace and then the suspects were seen walking on Barnett Road.
Police do confirm that a man's body was later found on East Analopee Road. Neighbors who live down the street from the man who was killed say that he was a very kind father to three daughters. >> Just to know that we're not going to see him anymore.
Anything like walking down the street with his daughters is really sad cuz like his daughters are really young and like one of the oldest I think is like >> she goes to my school. Investigators have not determined how he died, but they believe this case is a homicide. All three of them were charged with murder.
Ellie, 15 years old, was charged as an adult. Now, the thing was some people did actually believe Ellie's lies that she had been, you know, abused by her dad. That while she wasn't pregnant, she thought, she believed that she was pregnant, that she hadn't lied about anything to Gavin.
She was abused and she did actually believe she was pregnant. And then, you know, Gavin Gavin killed him. So therefore, Ellie was telling the truth throughout the entire ordeal.
Though, I mean, to that, you got to say Ellie literally lied about everything in the interview. So, why can you believe a single word she she says? There was no proof her dad was abusive ever.
Her two younger sisters would say they had never seen anything like that. The only person having a good time here, it seems, is Russell. He seemed to really enjoy he was mad about, you know, being interviewed by his buddies at, you know, the cops.
He put on um quite the performance. I mean, you'd swear the detectives heard boss battle music when they walked into that interview room. Probably something like this.
>> I use reverse psychology. By reverse psychology, I'm talking psychology. You want to play hard ball?
I played baseball when I was younger. Psychology. It became a blame game.
Ellie was manipulating Gavin. Gavin was manipulating Ellie. Russell was simply there.
Ellie lying to Gavin to get him to uh murder her own father so that she could run away with her boyfriend. Or Gavin wanted to be with Ellie, but Aaron was in the way, so he had to kill Aaron to get his much younger girlfriend. I don't think that Gavin was manipulating Ellie though because as you can see neither Gavin nor Russell were top of the class.
One of the reasons people kind of believed this that Gavin was actually the one in charge was that Gavin had sent a letter to Ellie uh after they had been arrested while they were in jail that read, "We [music] are taking this to trial by jury. Let the attorneys do the talking in court. Don't take any deals unless your attorney says it's a good one or one involving the state mental hospital.
Testify in court that the rape charges need to be dropped. That's the statuto rape that Gavin and Herd had sex when she was underage as it was consensual. Testify in court that Mike, meaning Russell, had other friends in town who were supposed to help us.
Testify that I was in fear for my life. yada yada yada. So people then look at this and say, "Oh, Gavin is manipulating Ellie to get her to do what he wants.
" So therefore, Gavin was responsible, really the brains behind the operation of murdering Aaron, and he just forced Ellie to go along with it. Who knows? But Ellie didn't do any of that.
>> She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder. This was in January 2019. >> On count one, conspiracy to commit murder.
>> Judge Lisa Grief read the sentencing [music] today for 17-year-old Ellen Frier. >> Upward durational departure to 240 months. She will serve 25 years in jail.
That means she'll be about 40 years old when she gets out. >> I would first like to say that I'm sorry for all the pain that I'm caused to others through this whole. Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go, but allowing yourself to start over.
I'm not the same scared little girl that was over a year ago. I've seen all different kinds of people and now see humanity with a new compassionate perspective. We can't erase the past or even change it.
We can carry the past on our shoulders or we can start over. Each day I wrestle with PTSD and suffer through horrendous flashbacks of the abuse I have allowed myself to endure at the hands of my father. But as learning to let go of the stifling fear, pain, and scars that negated my wellbeing for so long.
This is truly a sad situation in which everyone got hurt and we all still feel the effects in something. She was sentenced to 25 years in prison. She still stood by her allegations of abuse at the hands of her father.
Maybe she even believes them. Gavin, he also pleaded guilty and received a sentence of life without the possibility of parole for 25 years. Russell, the clown prince of crime, he too was sentenced.
He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and he was given a solid 15. Who really decided to murder Aaron? Who knows?
Not Russell, we can safely assume. So, either it was Ellie or it was Gavin, but in the end, they all did it. So, I guess it doesn't really matter.
They all have equal parts in this case. I mean, I don't know if Ellie was being abused. As I said, you know, you can't believe a single thing she says.
And serious accusations require serious proof. And the police investigating that, those allegations, they were never able to find any proof that Aaron was like that. He was known as a great guy.
Nobody else in the family would say he was weird or creepy or anything like that. So, it seems like she had just invented that, like she invents everything. Regardless, we will likely never know the reality because the accusations are coming from someone who lied about their own name and didn't seem remorseful for their actions.
However, in prison, Ellie has been keeping her head down. She has studied and obtained two master's degrees, psychology and justice studies. So, look at you.
And poor Aaron, you know, just trying to protect his daughter from predators. Psychopaths. Psychopaths who people knew would do something horrific one day.
Just probably not this horrific. And that'll do it for this old one. Everybody, thank you so so much for watching.
