something that recently occurred was that open AI have actually finally defined what AGI is and this actually changes a lot of things for open AI in the AI industry because we're now getting to a concrete definition of what AGI is going to do and what it means for major companies moving forward so you can see here that the information released this article where they talk about how Microsoft and open AI have a secret AGI definition and this is because quite a while back we had Microsoft invest 10 billion in open AI due to them see
being the rapid growth of chat GPT so this of course made sense now with that being said they did this because of course $10 billion agar's amount of money that open needs and of course they need Microsoft's infrastructure but this deal was really important because there was a really specific part of the deal that Microsoft slopen had which meant that Microsoft would essentially only get access to pre AGI technology which means that the definition of AGI is something that is really important here and so essentially openi are now trying to make their company public and
they're trying to make this deal a little bit different where they're going to be giving Microsoft Access to equity instead of shares that entitle them to Future profits now of course open ey recently literally today we can see that they actually published something called why open ey structure must evolve to advance our mission and they're saying you know a stronger nonprofit supported by the for-profit success and they talking about how basically they are going going into 2025 and they want to make the nonprofit sustainable so they're saying we learn to think of the mission as
a continuous objective rather than just building any single system such as AGI and it says that the world is moving out to build a new infrastructure of energy land to use chips data centers data AI models and AI systems for the 21st century economy we seek to evolve in order to take the next step in our mission helping AGI or in fact helping to build the AGI economy and ensuring it benefits Humanity so this is the first time I've actually heard that phrase the AGI economy is of course a new phrase but I'm guessing it
just refers to the fact that when we look at the future economy of course it's going to be largely built on top of the back of AGI now of course opening eye trying to go public is pretty difficult when we do take a look at the fact that individuals like Elon Musk are currently suing them now this is a big thing because when we do take a look at the fact that Elon Musk is suing them it means it's going to be pretty hard for open ey to you know get this done when Elon Musk
has filed this injunction now this is you know crazy because when we actually do take a look at what's going on here you can see that when you're trying to progress as a company these lawsuits are going to be really really frustrating because you have to understand that the market moves very quickly and I'm pretty sure it would be a lot easier for open ey if they were a public company because I'm sure their valuation would even be higher than it is now which is at around $150 billion I mean if you have a bunch
of people buying the stock in the company that is going to be something that drives the valuation up even further now what's crazy about all of this AGI stuff where openi are basically saying look we're now changing the definition of AGI we're trying to make our company public one of the craziest things that happened at openi is the fact that like Sam Alman has actually had some challenges between him and Microsoft and he says I won't pretend that there are no misalignments or challenges between us obviously there are some and that's of course because of
the fact that like Microsoft is I guess you could say they're really controlling and they want to control AGI but the reason that opening ey are doing this is because they want to make sure that yes Microsoft help help them get to AI but of course they don't want to have a situation where Microsoft controls the AGI technology and thus controls the world in some kind of like dictatorship way now essentially remember how I was talking about there have been issues with samman and Microsoft and they're like you know going back and forth basically this
is actually once again due to the fact that Elon Musk has actually done some crazy things so Elon Musk actually managed to freak out these other AI companies because he built a super computer that was so much bigger and faster than open ey and meta and he did this to the point where you can see that Sam mman actually got into an argument with infrastructure Executives at Microsoft telling them that he was concerned xai was moving faster than Microsoft so he actually got into arguments with these you know people working at Microsoft saying look how
on Earth is Elon Musk moving faster than us and this is something that you know created a bit of tension and if you aren't familiar with why this is so important it's because right now compute is I guess I I don't want to say it's everything that you need but it is a really important part of the AI stack for these companies and when you're trying to get to AGI quicker you have to understand that you know if you have a lot of chips you're going to be able to get there faster because you're going
be able to you know train models faster going to be able to iterate faster and thus work out their mistake so this is something that opening eye like whoa whoa whoa how on Earth is Elon Musk even getting this stuff when he was you know two years behind us and he only started not that long ago now when we actually take a look as well at Microsoft losing its grip we can also see here that what's crazy is that open AI were like look we need more compute we need more compute but you can see
that I've I've highlighted the part where it says that Microsoft had negotiated the right to block any Arrangements open AI made with other Cloud providers so it would likely have to bless the deal before it moved forward which is frustrating for open ey because open ey want access to a lot of compute but Microsoft are like no we're going to be the only people that provide you this compute which is why they're stuck in that deal now of course remember like I said before Elon Musk is you know ramping up his GPU production recently tweeted
that 200k gpus are just the amuse boo which is basically saying he's just getting warmed up and when we actually look at the AGI definition it means that like the the definition is is actually going to be an automated system that can outperform most people at most economically valuable work and that was the original definition that opening ey gave but recently they gave an updated definition which is a little bit different they said that you know we had now have Clarity it says AGI has a very specific definition the point where openi develops AI systems
that can generate at least a hundred billion in profits now this is a hefty Hefty number but I think from the point of open a makes sense because open AI want access to Microsoft's infrastructure and of course their continued funding but of course they don't want Microsoft to have access to complete control of AGI so that it becomes you know some kind of dictatorship when Microsoft has complete control openi do want to you know retain control and I think they're choosing an AI system that can generate a hundred billion dollar in profits because what they
probably do want is they do want to have a situation where when Microsoft no longer has access to their AGI systems they want to make sure that those AI systems can continue to generate money for many years to come and I'm guessing that they're going to want some really autonomous systems that they can use to propel them forward without Microsoft's continued help and that's why I think when we do take a look here that you know this original definition of most economically valuable work this one is actually you know changing because of course right now
you know in a few years I think it's going to be able to do most economically valuable work like I do think AI is going to be able to do most economically valuable work but the only problem is is that like will that generate a profit you know what I mean like will that generate profit and they're still going to need help up until that situation where they generate profit now you can see where the 100 billion you know revenue is going to be is is is apparently in 2029 which is uh you know it's
currently you know not 2025 just yet but it is 2024 and in 5 years a lot of stuff could happen in the AI we've already seen what has happened with LMS you know already so I think in 2029 that is going to be a remarkable year because that is when the Reigns are going to be off open a eye and they're going to be free to you know I guess you could say not control the market but with them having AGI I do wonder if by then maybe other companies are going to have caught up
maybe even gotten in front we know Google is hot on the heels so it's going to be super interesting to see how this AGI definition changes how openi are going and of course you can see by that time open ey are going to have you know a web browser they're going to have a humanoid robots they're going to have voice agents I mean it's going to be a pretty pretty crazy time to be someone who is an opening eye fan or someone that has opening eye products because when we actually do look at the year
2029 I mean honestly don't know what to expect but I do know that it's going to be super interesting to see where these companies are so the AGI definition thoroughly changing from most economically valuable work to a point where AI systems can generate at least hundred billion do in profits I do wonder if this is something where they're like look an AI agents all our AI agents must be able to generate $100 billion in profits autonomously or we're able to use these systems to generate hundred billion in profit so I think it's going to be
the the the latter where you know they potentially have automated large parts of the economy and essentially their systems are just so good like their eii agents are just so good that they're managing to generate hundred billion in profits or more and I think that this company if they manage to get to that level they're probably going to be one of the most valuable companies in the world because trust me guys if they're able to automate parts of the economy there's like no cap to what they can realistically earn because essentially all they're doing is
simply replicating humans and if you can replicate humans you can make immeasurable profits and of course remember that Sam Alman said my guess is that we will hit Aji soon as than most people in the world think and it will matter much less now I do wonder if that will be true or not when we do start to get the agentic era in 2025 but it will be interesting to see how these companies manage to change we know that nothing has been smooth as of yet but it will be interesting to see how these companies
manage to change now that they have a new secret definition of AGI $100 billion in profit is the goal but I'm guessing that is just because opening eye likely still needs help and it's quite likely they do want the momentum to continue so that being said if you do enjoy today's video don't forget leave like subscribe that good stuff and I'll see you in the next video
