and so this is still the original recipe yes it's one of the world's most famous Italian pastas fet in water you've heard of it you've probably eaten it but mention fet Alfredo to many Italians in Rome where it was invented and you'll get an immediate negative look it's not real Italian food many say so how did this 100% Italian pasta become so Infamous in Italy yet loved around the world today we're going to the original restaurant where it was invented we'll see how they make it and we'll find out why it's an absolute must eat

everybody their magical Comfort a font is really hard to read but that's a cool message and as the story goes It's a pasta that originates in Rome back dated back to the 15th century there was a version of a recipe with pasta with broth with water with butter with good cheese and so that was kind of the original what fet Alfredo stems from however the modern recipe was invented and dates back to 1892 and according to the family accounts in 1892 it was when Alfredo deio began to work in a restaurant he was working on
his cook and making his recipe and he invented a pasta dish uh after his wife gave birth to their first son and of course he wanted all that nutrients he added extra extra butter and extra cheese to the recipe to the pasta at that original restaurant I think the constru there was some construction and eventually it had to close but Mr Alfredo eventually opened his own restaurant which is called Restaurante Alfredo in 1914 which is this restaurant right here this is the judia Artio this is friy and then I the is boy Roman AR thing
of beauty so crispy like a flower a it is kind of a flower yeah Landing thank you incoming but before we try the legendary the original fetuin Alfredo we're starting with some famous Roman artic chokes fried and boiled I remember my last time in Rome I love absolutely loved the artch chokes crispy on the outside juicy on the inside silky crispy petals juicy silky interior a hint of bitterness love AR chokes okay The Boiled version yeah I can't I don't know if it's boiled or steamed but olive oil you definitely see olive oil choke yes
steamed steamed AR choke okay so it is steamed one your um left side is same the other one it's a uh it makes sense you boil the flavor out of the clth yeah actually I like the steamed better it has more arter choke flavor preserves the flavor more with a wonderful chewi and stringy yes do it yes we're getting ready now to make the fucini Alfredo in the kitchen what's your name Chef my name is very nice to meet you yeah very nice to meet you okay so that type of pasta is the fet yes

that is historical that's so very old tradition for your original big plate with the original golden for gold spoon and for wow thank you very much gra Mark go straight in oh this is an honor look at the size the size of this plate with the golden spoon the golden Fork the Truffle oh we should probably eat it this way pasta twirl okay here we go oo it's so Saucy it's amazing how that just gets so Saucy the emulsification of the butter the parmesan oh okay I don't think it's possible to twirl this pasta I'm
just going in m yes the butter the cheese the fettino just melts in your mouth oh man the Golden forkin Spoon that sauce is incredible the cheesiness the butteriness wow it's like both rich and light and fluffy all at the same time wow that's tasty M that is unbelievable mhm the butter cheese combination and how it's whisked into a sauce under plate he literally the chef literally used a whole block of butter within that sauce within the pasta and it's so simple but it's so good so rich and Hearty this place is amazing the history
the story that comes along with it it's a true gem culinary gem okay hold on the fet Alfredo it looks fantastic it's delicious right so how did it spread around the world especially the United States and become so famous yet get a bad reputation in Italy in 1920 Hollywood actors Mary pford and Douglas Fairbanks from films like Robin Hood and Zoro had their honeymoon in Rome and they tried fet Alfredo right here there he is Mr alfredo with the Golden Spoon and Fork they were so moved by the experience that they donated a pure Golden
Spoon and Fork this is the original golden SP Spoon and Fork Mary Pickford Douglas Fairbanks and told all of their friends in Hollywood about the pasta fedina Alfredo started becoming extremely popular in the United States now don't get me wrong around the world you'll find a lot of poorly made bad versions of fedina alfredo with soggy pasta and cheese gone wrong so rightfully so it's a pasta that's often lowered in quality and cooking technique in many places and that's exactly the reason you'll get those negative looks when you mention it to most Italians but when
you go to the source the way they've been making it in Rome for over a century guaranteed It's a pasta you'll never forget yes that would be great oh sprinkle of the pepper okay great thank you you're welcome thank you def yes with the sprinkle of pepper even better M oh with pepper mhm with pepper that really brings out the flavor such a cool dish such unique history and again I mean this is a pasta that's changed the world that's arguably the most well-known pasta dish on earth oh here okay after spaghetti I know you
