Why Religious People Go to Hell

I don't care what religion you practice if you don't put your faith and trust in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ you missed the point it's not about religion it's about relationship I think one of the biggest tragedies that exist in life is that people who practice religion their ire lives figured out when it was far too late that they missed the point the title of this video is why religious people go to hell and I know that's I don't want to sound insensitive but the reality is the Bible clearly tells us that

there will be religious people in Hell here's what I want to do I want to challenge you as you listen to this to examine yourself and make sure that you understand what God's path is for eternal life um this is not an attack on any one religion in particular this is a this is just an expose of religion in general what now let me Define religion so we can all be on the same page um this could apply to people who practice any religion that you can think of what I'm about to teach could apply

to any person that practices any religion here's what I mean when I say religion religion from my understanding of it is anything that you do any good work that you do that you believe appeases God for your sin nature we say that again any good deed that you do that you believe appeases God for the fact that you are a sinner for your sin nature for the fact that you are a sinner for the fact that you know you've lied you've cheated you've stolen or some aspect of those things we all have done some aspect

of some of those things even if we haven't done all of them um this was the problem with the Rich Young Ruler in Matthew chapter 19 was the fact that he was a very religious man people think that the problem was his his riches but his problem was his religion or his self-righteousness and when I say religion I guess that's a really good way to look at what I mean when I say religious so I'm going to read a passage of scripture to you from Matthew chapter 7 beginning with verse 13 and here's what it

says it says enter ye in at the Straight Gate for wide is the gate and Broad is the way that leadth to destruction and many there be which go in there at because straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leadth unto life and few there be that find it so the first thing that we see is that there are more people whose lives end in destruction than there are people whose lives end in eternal life uh it it straightens the gate Narrows the way that leads to life like and few there be

that find it why is it straight and narrow well it's straight I I think the contrast between these two is Broad is the way and wide is the gate which means the way most people are going is not the way to get there their where their eternal life it's not the way to get there um so it's Broad and it's wide and many people go in there at but because straight but because straight is the gate and narrow is the way which leadth to life and few there be that find it so few only a

few people find that straight and narrow that straight way and that narrow gate all right then it says beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are R ravening wolves um we see this so it's so prevalent in our society today we have false prophets and what makes a false prophet a false prophet if they say that God said something that God never said that makes them a false prophet if they are proclaiming a a false gospel that makes them a false prophet the Apostle Paul said about um himself and

anybody else he said if we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel to you then that which we which you have received let him be anathema what is anathema anathema means let him be as one that is cursed for eternity the Bible says if anybody preaches any other gospel to you than that which we've preached what gospel is that that the Gospel of Jesus Christ The Gospel of Salvation is that you are trusting for your Eternal salvation the death burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ plus nothing minus nothing add nothing to it

take nothing from it because if you do you're trusting religion you're not trusting in the righteousness of Christ understand this that and and and it it's fascinating that we take what God says we flip it on it head and we think we're saying the same thing because everybody says it and I I've had a lot of people comment on this like people say well I gave my life to Christ and that so so I'm saved because I gave my life to Christ no that's not what salvation is salvation is not a gift that you give

God salvation is a gift that God gives you if he doesn't give you his gift it doesn't matter what gift you give to him now I'm not saying there's anything wrong with giving your life to Christ when you receive Christ because he gave his life for us the bible teach teaches clearly we need to give our life to Christ in service but we're not giving giving our life to Christ as a means of Salvation like so many of these preachers are saying today okay if you want to come and give your life to Christ that

that's not salvation it's not salvation at all and I know a lot of people say it but that's the scripture says the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ Our Lord so God is the one who gives the gift to us we are not the ones who give the gift to God and I know a lot of preachers say it a lot of pastors say it but it is false Doctrine okay so you're tracking but the scripture says this about false prophets beware of false prophets for

they come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ravening wool so they they are looking good they're sounding good on the outside but inwardly they're devouring your life you shall know them by their fruit notice it didn't say you shall know them by their words it didn't say you will know them by their sermons it didn't say you will know them by their eloquence it did not say you will know them by their ability to entertain it says you will know them by their fruits what does that mean by what the Deeds that

they are doing will show you who they are we've got these preachers who are coming out and they've been molesting children and participating in homosexual parties and all kinds of stuff and we act like well but their famous preacher God don't care about their Fame so scripture says clearly by their fruits you shall know them and then he and then he gives an illustration do men gather Grapes of thorns or figs of thistles have you ever gotten have you ever gotten your hand pricked by a thorn when you were picking some grapes no when you're

pulling some some um figs no because they don't have thorns on them even every good tree bringeth forth good fruit but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit every tree that bringeth forth good fruit is he every tree that bringeth forth bringeth not forth good fruit is heun down or chopped down and cast Into the Fire wherefore because of these things I just said by their fruits you shall know them not everyone then he says this this this is

where it gets deep y'all this is Jesus talking not everyone that saith unto me this is in verse 21 Lord Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven but he that doeth the will of my father which is in heaven what is the will of his father which is in heaven well if we read John chapter 1 we know what the will of his father is in heaven because what does it say it says um Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world it says uh in fact I'm going to

go to it John chapter 1 it says John chapter number one verse number verse number number 10 he was in the world and the world was made by him and the world knew him not he came unto his own and his own received him not but as many as received him watch this now but as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God H even to them that believed on his name which were born not of the will not of the born not of the blood nor of the

will of the flesh nor of the will of man but of God so so what is the will of God the will of God is in order for you to receive salvation you must be born again what does it tell us in Peter it tells us that God is not um slack concerning his problem concerning his promise to us word not willing that any should perish not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance so you say my what are you saying I'm saying God's will is that you be born again

because what does it say next which were born not of the blood not of the will of the flesh nor the will of man but of God so that is the that is the will of the father that you be born again again how how does how does one rece how does one get Born Again by receiving and putting their TR by putting their faith and trust in the death burial and resurrection of Christ plus nothing minus nothing not plus your baptism not plus your church attendance not plus your praying three times a day not

plus your anything salvation is a gift that God gave us when we add something to it we are attempting to buy a gift which means we are rejecting the gift and therefore since we are rejecting the gift we do not receive the gift so not so it says not everyone that saith unto me Lord Lord child enter into the kingdom of heaven but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven many will say to me in that day I'm I'm going to show you what day this is but many will say

to me in that day Lord Lord have not we PR prophesied in thy name what does that mean haven't we preached in your name and in thy name cast out devils and in thy name done many wonderful Works in thy name done many wonderful what remember that word what's the word Works 10 then by by the way when they say have we not prophesied in thy name in thy name cast out devils and in thy name done many wonderful Works does that sound like they're trusting in the work that Christ finished on the cross that

was the last thing he said it is finished does it sound like they're trusting in the work that Christ finished on the cross or does it sound like they're trusting in some work they are doing in thy name have done many wonderful works then will I profess unto them I never knew you depart from me you workers in in of iniquity so Christ said I'm going to say to the people who trusted in their good works that's religion that's what I mean when I'm talking about religion I'm going to say to those people who trusted

in their Works depart from me you work workers of iniquity I never knew you then will I say unto them in that day what day is that I believe that is talking about the day of the great white Throne judgment now I don't know if you understand what the day of the great white Throne judgment is but the great white Throne judgment is the Judgment that um the people whose names were not written in the Lamb's Book of Life are going to be faced with and it says if in um this Revelation CH 20 by

the way Revelation it's not Revelations it's Revelation the the name of the book is revelation there not Revelations there's not multiple Revelations there's one Revelation there is the revelation of Jesus Christ so Christ is being revealed this is the revelation of Jesus Christ there this is it is the Book of Revelation it is not the Book of Revelations okay just understand that okay um Revelation 20 and verse number 10 here's what it says and the devil that deceived them was cast into the Lake of Fire where the Beast and the false prophet are and where

they shall be tormented day and night forever and I saw a great white throne and him that sat on it from whose face the Earth and Heaven fled away and there was found no place for them and I saw the dead small and great stand before God and the books were opened and another book book was open okay so you got to understand it says and the books were open and another book was open so whatever the book was the book is different than the books does that make sense the book and the books are

not the same thing so you got the books that were open and another book that was open so the book is not just not the same as the books but it's inferring and you'll see in a minute that the book is the opposite of the books are y'all tracking so it says um from whose Earth from whose face the Earth and Heaven fled away and I saw the dead small and great stand before God and the books were open and another book was opened which is The Book of Life okay so whatever the books were

they were not the book of life and the Jud and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their Works what the the scripture says people who do not trust Christ when they stand before God they will be judged according to their works I I can't speak for you but I don't want to be judged according to my Works CU if I'm judged according to my works I have no hope none whatsoever by the way neither do you neither do any of us see people want to do

good deeds so that God owes to them to accept them this ain't that this ain't how that works it says it says um and I saw the dead small and great stand before God and the books were open and another book was open which is The Book of Life and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their works and the Sea gave up the dead which were in it what does that mean that means all the people who died at Sea and were never buried everybody's going

to be everybody's going to be everybody is going to be resurrected to stand before God everybody and the books were open I I'm sorry and the dead um and the Sea gave up the dead were were in it and death and Hell delivered of the Dead which were in them and they were judged every man according to their works so the Bible describes and I I mean I can look this up right now so when it says death and Hell okay um Hades or the place of the state of departed Souls the grave or hell

so this is talking about Graves okay um and what says death just means death okay so death and hell were delivered up death and Hell delivered the dead which were in them and they were judged every man according to their works and death and hell were cast into the Lake of Fire this is the second death here's the part that's here's the part we got to we got to understand and whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire that's pretty clear so here's what here's what here's

what we are seeing whether we know it or not so I'm going to I'm going to draw on the board I'm going to I'm going to draw this an illustration of this on the board so there's the great white Throne judgment that's what it's called the Great White Throne judgment and then it says when the Great White Throne judgment happens that God has a record of all the works of all the works that all the people who've ever lived have done these books and it's going to be obviously it's going to be more than that

right this is books of Works see I know that your church May teach you that God wants you to do good work so he will accept you I know that your church May teach that but that is a false Doctrine you do not want to be judged according to your Works people say well but my baptism is not a work yeah baptism is who does baptism God or you if you do it it's a work if God does it it's not a work it's a gift that's like salvation is not cannot be earned if salvation

could be earned Christ died in vain that's the part people don't get so the books of works every single lie that every single person has ever told every single thing that every single person has ever stolen every evil deed that every human being has ever done has been recorded and God has it all documented and if you are judged according to your works the scripture says what's going to happen the people who are judged according to their Works they will be cast into the Lake of Fire there's another book this book is called the Lamb's

Book of Life now notice it's not called The People's book of life it's not called the Saints book of life it's called the Lamb's the Lamb's Book of Life why because the lamb is the one who gave his life be remember John said in in um I mean remember what John the Baptist said in John chapter 1 Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world it didn't say the sins it said the sin sin is the nature sins are the Deeds are y'all tracking and so so in the Lamb's Book

of Life if your name if your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life then your name is not written in the book of Works your your name is either going to be in the book of in the books with all your works or your name is going to be in the L's Book of Life and your Works have been the the Deeds that you've done have been paid for now here's what's really Fascinating People think their Good Deeds are going to do them some good but the book of Isaiah tells us that even

our righteousness is as filthy rags so the good deeds that we do compared to the good that Christ is is spilth so if you're trusting in your works this great white Throne judgment is what you have in your future but if you're not trusting in the works you've done because you realize you can't do enough good works to outweigh the bad Works you've already done and the good works that you do are not even that good anyway so you have to put your trust in one here's here's here's how the book of Hebrews describes Christ

for such an high priest became us who is Holy harmless undefiled separate from Sinners made higher than the heavens who needeth not daily as those high priest to offer up a sacrifice first for his own sins then for the sins of the people for this he did once when he offered himself self see in the Old Testament when the high priest got ready to go in and like offer up a sacrifice for the sins of the people he had to offer up a sacrifice for his own sins first but Christ didn't have to offer offer

up a sacrifice for his own sins because he didn't have any sins to offer up a sacrifice for he was the sacrifice for our sin he was both the sacrifice and he was the sacrificer so he laid down his life no man has the power to take my life I have the power to lay it down I have the power to take it up and so we have to understand is what the scripture says for by Grace the word Grace means a gift are you saved through faith and that that what that faith is not

even of yourselves it is the gift of God not of Works lest any man should boast what does that verse say what are those verses saying Ephesians chapter 2:8 and9 it's saying that by Grace God gives you the gift of Salvation because of Faith but not faith that you conjure up faith that he gave you to believe is the so God gave you a gift but he gave you the faith to receive the gift what what does that mean he did it so I have everything to be grateful for and nothing to be proud of

because no flesh should glory in his presence and see you got a bunch of religious people I'm going to sit back down Larry I got a bunch of religious people there are a bunch of religious people who they want credit for their good works they want God God to give them salvation because they've earned it well if you paid for it Christ didn't and if you trusted him to pay for it you don't have to now my does that mean okay I believe in Jesus I believe in his death be and Resurrection I can just

go do anything I want because God will forgive me that's not what it's teaching because it tells us in 2 Corinthians chapter 5 ver number 14 it says For the Love of Christ constraineth us because we thus judge that if one died for all then they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves but unto him which died for them and rose again what does that mean that means we are Trading Places Christ took our place on a cross for sin with Sinners as Sin how do I know that because the scripture says for he

God hath made him Christ to be sin for us and he knew no sin why that we might be made the righteousness of God in him or you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich pluus yet for your sakes he became poor that ye through his poverty might be rich plut so you say myam what are you saying I'm saying remember I said about the Rich Young Ruler the Rich Young ruler's problem was his re religion why because remember when he left Jesus said for hardly for a rich man

enter for uh uh hardly will a rich man enter into the Kingdom of Heaven in fact I verely verely or truly truly I say unto you it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man enter into the kingdom of heaven and people think that that's talking about rich in money but in the context it's not because the story in Matthew chapter 19 is about the children who wanted to come to Christ who they wanted to bring to Christ to be blessed and the disciples said get those

kids out of here and Jesus said suffer or allow those little children to come unto me and forbid them not for such as the Kingdom of Heaven this is this is why the Bible talks about faith as childlike Faith what's childlike Faith well how does a child eat they trust their parents to feed them where does Child live they trust their parents to provide them a house like who protects children trust their parents for their provision so Christ said let the little children come unto me and right after that the scripture says the Rich Young

Ruler came to Christ and here's what he said here's what he said to Jesus he said good Master what good thing religious thing what good thing shall I do that I may inherit the Eternal that I may inherit eternal life Jesus said to this man why are you calling me good Jesus wasn't saying he's not good Jesus said why call us why callest thou me good there's none good but one that's God Jesus was not saying he wasn't good and he wasn't saying he wasn't God what was he saying he was saying you said good

Master what good thing shall I do what Jesus is saying to this young man because this is how rabbis taught by making them think not by giving them the answer but by Leading them to the answer and here's what he said he said why callest thou me good there's none good but one and that is God what is what is what is Jesus saying he's saying you're coming to me saying good Master what good thing will I must I do either you're going to be good or I'm going to be good but we can't both

be good so if you're going to trust in my good then you can't trust in your good but if you're going to trust in your good then you're not trusting in my good so which is it so um Jesus said but if but if you will be made like if you will have eternal life here's what you do keep the commandments so instead of the man being honest cuz any honest person someone say this I've tried and I can't I tried to keep the Commandments this flesh don't work well for keeping those Commandments but that's

not what he said he said which ones which ones are they to keep Jesus said Thou shalt not kill Thou shalt not steal Thou shalt not bear false witness honor thy father and thy mother and love thy neighbors as thyself he tacked that last one on at the end because clearly this man loved himself he had the finest of fine clothes the finest of Fine Jewelry finest to find chariots perhaps he comes to Jesus and Jesus cacked on he said he named a whole bunch of them the man had kept Thou shalt not kill check

Thou shalt not steal check I don't need to steal I got plenty of money Thou shalt not bear false witness check I don't know if he was being honest about that one um I've not met the person who hasn't lied okay I've not met him I'm sure maybe they're out there but I haven't met them okay so check honor thy father and thy mother check check and love thy neighbor as thyself the man says I've done all these since I was a child I've been very religious even since I was a child I've done all

those good deeds so what do I lack you okay his this is not what Jesus said but this is what Jesus answer meant you lack the ability to be honest with yourself and you lack the ability to be honest with me that's what his answer meant so what did he say he said okay you love your neighbor as yourself do you he didn't say that part but I'm emphasizing that he said okay you told me you love your neighbor as yourself so go do this go sell everything that you have everything that you have and

give the money to the poor why did he tell me to do that is that is that the path to Salvation do do all of us who are watching this video right now need to go sell everything we have and give our the money to the poor if that's the way to if that was a universal prescription that's what everybody would have to do but it wasn't it wasn't a universal principle it was an individual prescription for a man who just lied to Christ because he thought he was so religious he didn't need Christ so

then Jesus said um he said huh he said go sell everything that you have and then give the give it away to the poor and come and follow me it says the man went away sorrowful then Jesus said said verily I say unto you for hardly shall a rich man enter into the Kingdom of Heaven verily verily I say unto you that it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven you know what the disciples said the disciples

were as confused as most modern-day Christians here's what they said who then can be saved I'm going to tell you why they said that in a minute who then can be saved Jesus said Jesus said with man this is impossible what's impossible possible salvation with man salvation is impossible but With God all things are possible what does that mean God can save a person who has a lot of money just like you can save a person who has no money so the riches that Jesus had a problem with in this man's life was not the

stuff that he owned he told the man to go sell everything because the man just told him I love my neighbor like myself well clearly you love yourself go sell every go sell everything you have give the money to the poor and take care of somebody else's needs you clearly love yourself so go go do that man would away sorrowful but here when Jesus said it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter Kingdom of Heaven I believe he's

talking about a literal camel with a hump or two and a literal needle that your mama would use to sew up your socks sin what does that mean that means it's impossible for somebody who's rich in self-righteousness to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven that's what it means say how do you know that because the other place that word Rich that word rich is plos the the word plos in Greek means figuratively Rich it's the exact same Rich that was used in 2 Corinthians chapter 8 verse number n where it says you know the grace

the gift of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich plos figuratively Rich how was Christ Rich he was rich in righteousness and his he was so rich in righteousness he could pay all of our debt and still be rich in righteousness what so when Christ when when the scripture say hardly shall a rich man enter into the Kingdom of Heaven hardly shall somebody who's rich in self-righteousness enter into the Kingdom of Heaven what do they have to do instead of being like the Rich Young Ruler who wanted to depend on himself in his

own good works for his salvation be like the little children who came to Christ to have him lay hands on them and pray for them that's why the Bible says that adults need that people in general need to have childlike Faith he never said children need to have adult-like faith why because a child is fully dependent on someone else for everything in their life when we fully depend on Christ for our eternal life that is the only way we can have eternal life I don't care what religion you practice if you don't put your faith

and trust in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ you missed the point it's not about religion it's about relationship and the only way for your relationship with God to be restored is through faith in the finished work of Calvary the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ all things in the Old Testament point to it point forward to it all things in the New Testament Point backward to it and then we as followers of Christ need to learn how to look forward to that day when we will be United with our King I
