We've been waiting for this one, and it's finally here! The Apple September event is official, and based on what we've been hearing, the company has been working on quite a bit for this one. So today, I want to show you absolutely everything that Apple's going to be announcing on September 9th, from new iPhone 16 models, updated versions of the Apple Watch, a brand new iPad Mini, and the biggest update to AirPods that I think we've ever seen.
There's so much to talk about today, but first, a closer look at this year's invites. As Apple has confirmed, the event is happening on Monday, September 9th at 10 a. m.
Pacific Standard Time, with the tagline "It's glow time," which is one of the less direct but also super direct things that Apple has hinted about in recent history. The imagery Apple has shown off includes an iridescent and glowing Apple logo that kind of morphs and changes shapes, that ultimately looks pretty familiar to me. Well, it's pretty much a one-to-one match with the branding that Apple has used for their AI feature set, including Apple Intelligence, which essentially confirms that with this being the iPhone event, this is going to be the year for Apple's first true AI phones to be released.
But what exact features are coming? Well, let's start there with the four new iPhones for 2024. The lineup is very similar to last year.
On the low-end, two iPhone 16 models, and on the high-end, two iPhone 16 Pro Models. But this time around, these phones are not going to be as different as they have been historically because this year, all four iPhone 16 models will be sharing the same set of core new AI features that Apple actually previewed a few months ago with Apple Intelligence. Like the brand new version of Siri that's smarter, that understands you better, that has chat GPT integrated into it.
There's an entirely new suite of writing tools to change the way that you word things to make things more professional or friendly baked into the iPhone by default now. And most exciting for me are the new image generation features like Gen Emoji, where you can just tell your phone what emoji you want to make and on device instantly it will make it. And even cool features in photos like the ability to remove people from scenes to give your photos the best and cleanest look that you want them to have.
But to be fair, Apple's also releasing these features on last year's iPhone 15 Pro. So what's going to make them feel special on the iPhone 16 lineup? Well, based on everything we're hearing, that's going to come down to the brand new dual chips that Apple's been working on.
The A18 for the iPhone 16 and the A8 Pro for the iPhone 16 Pro. Basically, while last year's iPhone 15 Pro can run the AI features, they are going to be significantly more efficient and quick and probably way less harsh on your phone's battery because of the brand new chipset. Plus, we've also heard that Apple could be building exclusive AI features just for the iPhone 16 lineup with these new chips, including features that you can't get on any of the older iPhones or other Apple products.
So expect Apple to talk a lot about that as well as the other changes they're bringing to both these phones too. Like on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, Apple's making some minor design changes like redesigning the camera on the back to be a vertical stack. Now that said to include an upgraded Ultra wide lens but also support of 3D spatial video capture.
So if you have the $3500 Apple Vision Pro, you can watch your 3D immersive videos back on that. And by the way, make sure you hit that subscribe button to stay up to date on the latest iPhone news. The mute switch is also going away on these regular 16s as Apple is bringing down the action button from the pros.
So you can now remap that to anything instead of only being on ringer or not. But also if you ever use your phone off silent, I don't know, I don't think you're a real person 'cause nobody does that. That's the first of two new buttons this year on the iPhone 16 as below the power, which Apple is adding a new dedicated button for photo and video capture.
Rumors are calling it The Capture Button, and it's going to be a bit different than buttons on the iPhone in the past. It's going to be a solid-state vibration only button similar to the home button on an iPhone 7 we're hearing. Which means it will support new kinds of gestures.
You'll be able to like long press to focus a photo, or press down hard to capture a photo. You'll be able to slide over left or right to zoom in or out on your lenses. And they're said to be other gestures too, like switching between the photo and video modes.
Basically, the goal is to bring the best parts of a traditional digital camera down to a more tactile shooting experience on the iPhone, which I do think is going to be a hit. We've also seen the five new colors for this year. Black, white, a darker blue, a brand new turquoise green option, as well as pink making a comeback.
Everything else though, from USBC on the bottom to the same 6. 1 and 6. 7-inch screens with Dynamic Island on top, that is staying the same.
Of course, if you're like me and you do want a bit more, there are the Pros which Apple is making the screens larger this year. They're going to be the largest iPhones they've ever made, increasing about 2 inches on each, up to 6. 3 and.
. . 6.
9 inches now, which means the actual size of the phones are increasing. Also getting bigger this year are the physical batteries on the inside. Apple said to be using a new stacked Battery Technology For the First Time, which allows them to essentially fold more battery material up into the same spot so they can increase the physical capacity quite a bit.
One rumor is saying almost a 10% year-over-year increase for the smaller iPhone 16 Pro, which is a really big deal as battery life has not been great for me. So, to make sure my iPhone is always charged up, I partnered up with ugen who sponsored today's video to show you their brand new ug green nexo powerbank with a 20,000 Mah capacity and 130 WS of power output. The design has been optimized to be super light and compact, so it's always easy to carry with you.
It's built around a column design that maximizes the use of internal space that also looks really good. And with the two USBC ports and the single USBA port, you can charge up all your devices at the same time, including a Macbook and an iPhone, and a third device as well. And with the TFD smart display on front, you can monitor all this information in real time like the battery power remaining, charge time, voltage, current, and more.
But even supports up to 100 watts of power output on the first USBC port, which charges an iPhone 15 to 55% power in just 30 minutes, or a MacBook Pro 16in to 43% power in 30 minutes. Or if you're looking for something just a bit smaller, there's also the ug gree nexe power bank 12,000 Mah hours with 100 watts of power output. And right now, you can grab either one of these power Banks when you use my links Down Below in the description.
A huge thank you to ugen for sponsoring this one. I absolutely love this stuff. Now, let's get back to it.
These new batteries will also now be metal plated, which should allow for better heat dissipation and longevity of the battery over time. And if you do run out of battery, well, apple is going to allow you to charge these faster with a rumor saying up to 40 Watts wired or 20 watts wireless with mag-safe, which are both huge jumps over the 27 watts and 15 watts we have respectively right now. But of course, if you're buying an iPhone 16 Pro, you're also probably doing it for the cameras and apple is extending their lead on the pro's cameras once again with a couple of new options like the ultrawide camera getting the 48-megapixel sensor, the 5x telephoto zoom lens coming down from the biggest Pro Max to the regular pro this year.
And to capture the highest quality content, there's going to be a new photo format for even higher resolution photos and recording Obby Vision video at a higher resolution than before. Also, the new capture button is coming on the pros as well and it's said to work pretty much exactly here as it does on the cheaper iPhone 16s. As for the pro colors this year, not a whole lot happening there.
There's going to be a new flagship Gold Titanium option that I do think looks pretty good rendered out here, but the other three colors of black, white, and natural gray will remain. Again though, all things considered physically with these phones not changing this much, the new AI features are going to be the reason you want to buy these. Next up for Apple September event, the two new Apple watches.
Starting off with the Apple Watch series 10. The displays on the Apple Watch series 10 are going to be the largest they've ever been increasing in size now to 45 and 49 mm, making the largest regular Apple watch actually the same screen size as the Apple watch Ultra, so it's going to be pretty big. That being said, the casing of the Apple watch is said to get even thinner this year potentially making these one of the thinner Apple watches.
But aside from those two changes not a whole lot else happening here. On the inside, there's going to be a faster chip for the second year in a row that is built down the road for future AI features. But none of those new Apple watch AI features are said to be here right away.
But larger changes like blood pressure monitoring, which was initially on the docket for 2024, it sounds like that may have been cut and might not be launching this year after all. And other health features like sleep apnea tracking or the long-awaited non-invasive blood glucose monitoring, we're hearing that is still years away, even in 2024. But what about the Apple Watch Ultra 3?
This is personally the Apple watch that I've been wearing since the Daye it came out. And well, the Apple watch Ultra 3 unfortunately is not much more exciting as there is no changes happening in the design but instead a new black titanium color on the way. There'll also be that new chip on the inside, but that is uh, I mean I wanted to just like make up something to make it sound more exciting but no there is really not much happening for these Apple watches.
And while there was supposed to be that initially huge Apple watch update this year with a major redesign sounds like we'll be waiting for that for yet another year, next up as I was editing we just got some breaking news that apple is likely going to be updating the iPad Mini as well at this event it appears that stock around Apple Stores is starting to run low, and there have been rumors all year long that a new iPad Mini. Was just around the corner. That being said, though, the update this year is going to be pretty modest.
Apple is just doing a spec bump update where they swap out the chip on the inside to now support all of the new Apple intelligence AI features. As the current iPad Mini was not on the list of support for those, if you were hoping for bigger iPad Mini changes, yeah, it doesn't seem like those are happening this year. But that being said, Apple does have one other product coming at this event that is going to be a massive deal, and it's probably going to be the sleeper update for this entire event.
And that is the brand new version of AirPods fourth generation. See, Apple last updated these almost 3 years ago back in 2021, and since then, they've been positioned as their mid-tier AirPods, a little bit better than the AirPod 2 basics, not as cool as the AirPod Pros. But this year, Apple's basically taking the best parts of all of their AirPods and putting it into this single product.
AirPods 4 are said to be getting an updated design, one that's a direct cross between the current AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro that support noise cancellation, which means AirPods 4 will support active noise cancellation, marking the first time Apple has brought down that feature from the Pros. On the inside, they're likely getting the AirPods Pro H2 chip, which should improve audio quality, especially in the bass range, but also extending battery life by potentially up to an hour. But Apple didn't stop there with the Pro features, as the AirPods 4 case is said to be basically the exact same as the AirPods Pro 2 case, the one that has USBC on the bottom, the speaker and Find My functionality built in, potentially a cutout for the lanyard loop, and even the ability to charge it with an Apple Watch charger, which all together makes AirPods 4 sound like an incredibly compelling update.
As somebody who runs with my AirPods 3 'cause they fit better in my ears than the Pros, I cannot wait for these to come out, and next to the iPhone 16, is absolutely the thing I'm most looking forward to at this event. So zooming out here, Apple's September 9th event is going to be a big one, four new iPhones, three new Apple Watches, a new pair of AirPods 4, plus that new version of the iPad Mini 2. 0, all seemingly confirmed for this event, and I could not be more excited.
There's going to be another event later this year for Macs and iPads, and maybe those AirPods Max 2. 0s. Those are going to be coming in the future, just doesn't sound like immediately right here on September 9th.
So make sure you hit that subscribe button in case you haven't already for the latest Apple news. Drp a like if you enjoyed this or learned something new, okay? Ian, Sam, hope you're doing well, and I will, I will catch you very soon with way more videos about the iPhone 16, you know I will.
You know I will in this Apple event, see you. You know I'm absolutely hyped, okay? See you guys in the next one, bye-bye.
