12 strange signs your body needs more salt this video is for educational purposes only so please speak with your doctor if you suspect any health problems sign number one lightheaded standing up one of the most common signs of assault deficiency is feeling laded or dizzy when you stand up your body uses sodium from Salt to keep your blood pressure stable without enough sodium your blood blood pressure can drop suddenly when you stand taking a small amount of sea salt in a glass of water can help to prevent this two heartburn If you experience a burning
sensation in your chest after you eat you likely have low stomach acid which is causing indigestion without enough sodium and chloride from Salt your stomach doesn't make enough hydrochloric acid so essentially your food doesn't break down properly causing indigestion heartburn and bloating three craving salty foods one of the clearest signs that you need more salt is craving salty foods this is very common in people who suffer from stress or anxiety as the stress hormones deplete sodium it's also common in people who drink too much water which dilutes their salt reserves four morning fatigue salt is
absolutely essential for producing energy and regulating cortisol levels low salt levels leads to adrenal fatigue making it very hard to wake up and feel energized in the morning sodium is also vital in making energy in the mitochondria which are the energy factories of your cells without enough salt you'll feel lethargic and have weak muscles and you'll lose that get up and go so adding some salt to your morning routine can boost your energy levels and I'll talk more about this later sign number five dry skin and eyes your body uses sodium from Salt to allow
fluid to enter cells and store water if you cut back on your salt you may notice your skin and eyes drying out due to dehydration those of you who are concerned about high blood pressure should switch to a high quality sea salt like Celtic or Bara gold and also enrich your diet with potassium rich foods like avocados to maintain the fluid balance and take the strain off the Heart Six low stress tolerance if you find that you're easily triggered and you can't handle much stress it could be due to low or high cortisol salt plays
a role in adrenal function helping to regulate cortisol which is your main stress hormone people who have chronic anxiety for example often need more sea salt to support their adrenal glands seven headaches as I mentioned before low salt levels can cause dehydration a common trigger for headaches without enough sodium your body can't hold on to water which leads to shrunken cells in the brain and headaches replenishing your sodium levels can restore the fluid balance and relieve headaches for some people if salt doesn't help you try using potassium citrate or some magnesium citrate eight diarrhea frequent
diarrhea can cause a loss of salts through your stool leading to sodium depletion this causes electrolyte imbalances which can worsen dehydration again adding a small amount of sea salt to water and drinking it can help to replenish sodium and restore the fluid balance after having diarrhea nine rapid heartbeat salt is also vital for regulating your heart's electrical impulses when sodium levels Get Low your heart may beat faster to compensate for the low blood pressure so a rapid heartbeat could be a sign that you need more salt but it could also be caused by too much
salt in some cases and not enough potassium 10 insomnia sodium supports the nervous system in sending signals from your brain when sodium levels are low it can activate the fight or flight response making it harder to fall asleep some people like to take an eighth of a teaspoon of Celtic salt in water before bed to help their nerves relax I also recommend magnesium glycinate or alamine to improve sleep you can find more information in my previous video called six vitamin to help you sleep 11 muscle cramps salt is very important for the sodium potassium pump
which Powers muscle contractions and nerve signals without enough salt you may get frequent muscle cramps as your muscles aren't receiving the right signals to relax if you suffer from muscle cramps I recommend using barer gold sea salt which has more potassium and magnesium in it to to further relax your muscles and 12 is can't tolerate the heat salt helps your body regulate temperature and retain water you lose salt When you sweat whether it from being hot exercising or being in a warm climate if you're low on salt you may struggle to tolerate heat as your
body struggles to hydrate and cool itself brain fog one final symptom that I'd like to mention is brain fog and trouble concentrating some people who lower their salt intake due to concerns about high blood pressure often end up feeling confused and struggling to think clearly you see sodium is essential for brain function and nerve transmission and without enough of it your cognitive abilities can suffer testing your salt levels now there's a very quick way to test if you're dehydrated and you need more salt all you need to do is pinch the skin on the back
of your hand for a few seconds and then release if the skin snaps back quickly you're likely well hydrated but if the skin stays pinched or it returns slowly this can indicate dehydration which can be related to low sodium also if your urine is too clear this may indicate that you've drunk a bit too much water possibly diluting your sodium levels reasons you're deficient in salt now some people get more than enough salt in their diet but they still suffer from the salt deficiency symptoms that we've talked about today so let's take a look at
why this can happen firstly damaged kidneys can excrete too much sodium and not recycle it properly for use in other parts of your body certain medications like diuretics used for treating high blood pressure increase your urination so you tend to dump more salt through your urine also people who are under stress or have damaged adrenal glands don't make enough aldosterone which throws off the sodium balance as well and a more common problem is when people drink far too much water thinking it's healthy they actually dilute the electrolytes and sodium in the bloodstream causing salt loss
and hyponatremia which can be very dangerous if you keep on doing it every day and you can actually sweat out about 3 G of salt in an hour when you're exercising heavily in warm weather which is quite a lot of salt to replenish replenish your salt healthily if you're low in salt it's important to replenish it by using natural salt rather than processed salt processed foods often contain table salt which usually includes aluminium compounds and Bol agents which are harmful these additives May contribute to high blood pressure and potentially cause liver and brain damage but
very very slowly over the years instead it's recommended to cook your own healthy meals at home using a good quality naturally dried sea salt Celtic Sea salt Redmond and barer gold are some of the highest quality options these sea salts are unrefined and they contain other other important minerals like pottassium calcium and magnesium which complement the sodium in your body to maintain electrolyte balance morning drink if you often feel tired fatigue burned out or anxious I recommend using a little sea salt in the morning to Kickstart your day take a bottle of water and add
1/8 of a teaspoon of Celtic Sea salt place the bottle on your nightstand before you go to bed upon waking in the morning Shake It Up and drink it immediately the sodium chloride in the sea salt helps the water be quickly absorbed into your cells and this hydrates you after deep sleep and boosts your electrolyte levels giving you energy I recommend using a volcanic mineral water with your drink to provide even more trace minerals that your body needs but it isn't necessary if you don't want to there's also a flavor enhancer that's often added to
processed foods called mono sodium glutamate or MSG MSG makes food taste better but it contains a lot of sodium that doesn't taste salty which can be deceiving this is commonly found in takeout food ready meals and is heavily used in restaurants to add flavor unfortunately the combination of glutamate and sodium can overstimulate your nerves potentially causing you to feel anxious restless and experience a pounding heart a couple hours after eating it I recommend avoiding MSG as much as you can and cooking your own healthy meals using natural sea salt if you want to maintain healthy
blood pressure and support your nervous system one thing I should also mention is coffee and your diet coffee is a diuretic meaning that it can deplete your salt levels if you drink too much similarly if you're on a low carb diet you may need to eat more salt since you're not eating processed foods that usually contain all your sodium to replenish your sodium place a grain of Celtic Sea salt under your tongue a few times a day especially when fasting or on a low carbohydrate diet some people also experience tight neck muscles twitches and nervousness
when they're deficient in magnesium this is another mineral that may also need to be replenished if you think that this could be your problem watch the video on screen now for more information thank you so much for watching another of my videos and as always I wish you great health wealth and happiness
