[Music] the two witnesses a description of two people who will assist in carrying out the work that God has for them to do during the time of the tribulation can be found in Revelation 11 3 to 12. and I will grant you authority to my two witnesses and they will prophecy for twelve hundred and sixty days 42 months free and one-half years dressed in sackcloth these Witnesses are the two olive trees and the two lamp stands which stand before the Lord of the earth and if anyone wants to harm them fire comes out of their mouth and devours their enemies so if anyone wants to harm them he must be killed in this way Revelations 11 3-5 Amplified Bible at the end there will be two witnesses who will Prophecy in the city of Jerusalem the verse reads my two witnesses the nature of their Ministry is prophetic as evidenced by the fact that they will prophecy they preach and display repentance as seen by their wearing sackcloth and they have an effective ministry as we read I will give power the two witnesses indeed serve with power such power in fact that they can witness for 1260 days despite the world's antagonism we also read and if anyone wants to harm them fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies God has given the two witnesses special protection similar to Elijah all of the nouns used to refer to the witnesses In this passage are masculine in ancient Greek grammar the two witnesses are two men the two witnesses in the Book of Revelation will have miraculous powers to accompany their message and no one will be able to stop them in their work Revelations 11 6 Amplified Bible these two witnesses have the power from God to shut up the sky so that no rain will fall during the days of their prophecying regarding judgment and salvation and they have power over the waters Seas rivers to turn them into blood and to strike the Earth with every kind of plague as often as they wish the two witnesses will have miraculous power but they will be killed when their testimony is concluded the Wicked World Will Rejoice allowing the bodies of the Fallen Prophet to lie in the streets Revelation 11 7-10 Amplified Bible when they have finished their testimony and given their evidence the Beast that comes up out of the Abyss bottomless pit Will wage war with them and overcome them and kill them and their dead bodies will lie exposed in the open Street of the great City Jerusalem which in a spiritual sense is called by the symbolic and allegorical names of Sodom and Egypt where also their lord was crucified those from the peoples and tribes and languages and Nations look at their dead bodies for three and a half days and will not allow their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb and those non-believers who live on the earth will gloat over them and rejoice and they will send gifts in celebration to one another because these two prophets tormented and troubled those who live on the Earth those who dwell on the earth Will Rejoice over them make Marion send gifts to one another the Earth saw and triumphed over the deaths of the two witnesses it is possible that the fact that people see this of all people tribes tongues and Nations is an indirect foreshadowing of how current mass media works it is incredible and not far-fetched at all to think of a live worldwide broadcast on any channels and over the internet and see the Fantastic scene described here the idea is also that the world treats these two witnesses humiliatingly to have his dead body lie in view of all was the worst humiliation a person could suffer from his enemies Johnson the preaching of these two witnesses and their call to repentance was a torment for many because they could not stand to hear the truth while they loved their lie their bodies will lie in the streets for just over three days while the transnational Mass tormented in conscience by their expressions gloat over and celebrate their removal when the two are resurrected in full view of everyone the relief will turn to Terror their Ascension will be triggered by a loud voice from Heaven saying come up here the Reviving of the two witnesses Revelation 11 11-12 Amplified Bible but after three and a half days the Breath of Life from God came into them and they stood on their feet and great fear and panic fell on those who were watching them and the two witnesses heard a loud voice from Heaven saying to them come up here then they ascended into heaven in the cloud and their enemies watched them because the Earth was Unworthy of these two witnesses God simply summoned them and they ascended to heaven in a cloud we read the phrase come up here the Earth was not worthy of these two witnesses so God simply called them home and they ascended to heaven in a cloud it is clear that the masses always failed to listen to the prophets of God in this aim hour there was a great earthquake an earthquake brings judgment and inspires many to praise God but it remains to be seen whether this will result in genuine repentance leading to Salvation when people leave the city a strong earthquake will have already destroyed one-tenth of the buildings there and slain seven thousand of the city's inhabitants it is impossible to ignore the startling similarities between the deaths of the two witnesses and that of Jesus it'll be impossible to avoid thinking about the crucifixion resurrection and Ascension of Jesus Christ that took place of course there are differences in his case the earthquake coincided with his death and the general public witnessed neither his resurrection after three days nor his Ascension it will result in fear of and glory to God there are three primary theories on the identity of the two witnesses in Revelation number one Moses and Elijah because John makes specific references to the miracle that the witnesses would accomplish many people believe that Moses and Elijah could be the two witnesses Moses witnessed more miracles than Abraham Isaac and Jacob combined with several Miracles occurring one after another as God interceded on behalf of his people the witnesses will have the power to convert water into blood replicating one of Moses's most famous miracles Exodus 7 20-21 Amplified Bible so Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded Aaron lifted up the staff and struck the waters in the Nile in the sight of pharaoh and in the sides of his servants and all the water that was in the Nile was turned into blood the fish in the Nile died and the river became foul smelling and the Egyptians could not drink its water and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt and the witnesses will have the power to destroy their enemies with fire which corresponds to an event in Elijah and Moses's life fire also came forth from the Lord and consumed the 250 men who are offering the incense also giving strength to this view is that Moses and Elijah both appeared with Jesus at the Transfiguration Matthew 17 3-4 Amplified Bible and behold Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with Jesus then Peter began to speak and said to Jesus Lord it is good and delightful and auspicious that we are here if you wish I will put up three sacred tents here one for you one for Moses and one for Elijah Revelations 11 5 Amplified Bible and if anyone wants to harm them fire comes out of their mouth and devours their enemies so if anyone wants to harm them he must be killed in this way some believe Elijah is one of the witnesses because his ministry appears similar to these two witnesses James 5 17-18 Amplified Bible Elijah was a man with a nature like ours with the same physical mental and spiritual limitations and shortcomings and he prayed intensely for it not to rain and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months then he prayed again and the sky gave rain and the land produced its crops as usual in addition Jewish tradition anticipates the return of Moses and Elijah this is based on the prediction of Elijah's coming in Malachi 4 5. as well as God's promise to raise a prophet like Moses which some Jews think requires Moses's return Deuteronomy 18 15 Amplified Bible the Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me Moses from among you from your countrymen brothers and Brethren you shall listen to him Deuteronomy 18 18 Amplified Bible I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you and I will put my words in his mouth and he shall speak to them all that I command him Malachi 4 5 Amplified Bible behold I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord number two Enoch and Elijah because of the extraordinary events surrounding each of their deaths Enoch and Elijah are often considered potential candidates for the roles of the two witnesses from what we understand God has only ever brought two people directly to heaven without their first having to go through the process of dying Genesis 5 23.
so all the days of Enoch were 365 years two kings Two Eleven as they continued along and talked Behold a chariot of fire with horses of fire appeared suddenly and separated the two of them and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind the passage in Hebrews 9 27 which states that it is destined for all men to die once is cited by supporters of this perspective it would appear that the fans that Enoch and Elijah have not been put to death qualifies them for the role of the two witnesses who will both be put to death once they have completed their respective tasks since neither Enoch or Elijah died a natural death but were instead carried to heaven and Hebrews 9 27 States that it is appointed for men to die once some people believe that the two witnesses must be Enoch and Elijah they reason that since it is set for men to die once Enoch and Elijah must return to Earth to die there this interpretation of Hebrews 9 27 is incorrect since the verse outlines a principle rather than an absolute and unchangeable law for example Lazarus and others were raised from the dead and apparently died twice yet this does not disprove Hebrews 9 27. at the time of the Rapture the entire church on Earth will not die but will be carried to Heaven Hebrews 9 27 is a principle and there are a few notable exceptions that ultimately serve to prove rather than deny the rule there may be good reasons to regard Enoch and Elijah as the two witnesses but the principle of Hebrews 9 27 is not one of them in addition both Enoch and Elijah were prophets who pronounced God's judgment 1 King 17 1. now Elijah the tishbite who was of the settlers of the Gilead said to Ahab as the Lord the god of Israel lives before whom I stand there shall be neither June or Reign these years except by my word Jude 1 14.
