two hey there I am going to ask you a question today that's going to rock your world do you know how to make your life work like what does that even mean have you noticed that there are some people it seems like their life just works and other people it seems like everything they touch turns to catastrophe well today on this video um I'm going to let you know that there is a storm coming there's a storm coming and if you build your life in the proper way in the proper place your life will work

as I look back on my life and I look back on the experiences of my life I realize that there's only one explanation there's only one explanation to how things are working out and as I think about it um when I think about the fact that I I first of all I what I believed were amazing parents they weren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but they were amazing and when I think about the fact that I quit drinking when I was 11 people always laugh when I say that I'm I'm not even joking

when I think about the fact that I quit drinking when I was 11 and I think about the fact that um I can remember 3 four 5 years old being able to drink beer like it was soda I can remember that not because my parents were terrible people yeah it because I don't even have time to go into all the reasons I could have easily been an alcoholic I could have easily been a drug dealer I could have easily been a criminal um like before I got saved I was kind of a criminal but not

the real bad kind okay I was I was a moderate criminal I was I was a moderate criminal okay I would shoplift but I didn't do armed r right okay I'm just like my life could have turned out so differently I remember when I I I had this dog I was a teenager I was probably about 14 13 14 years old I had this dog Sarge German Shepherd and if I can be transparent I like stealing I liked it cuz I just wanted to see if I could get away with it I know that sounds

terrible you can judge me that's fine that's your business but I I would steal I'd go to the grocery store I'd steal steaks from my dog I'm is that I know I would um I would wow I would go to like the drugstore and I would just steal stuff like I'd stole a dog leash and so so and so so I'm at people's drugstore in Harrisburg Pennsylvania I'm 13 14 maybe no I'm 14 15 years old um so I steal this dog leash and I'm coming around the corner and all of a sudden I see

the pharmacist following me he's like young man what do you have in your pocket pocket like you think I got something in my pocket yeah cuz I've been watching you and I want you to know I've called the police and they're coming so the police came oh yeah and like I had a dog leash I stole a dog leash I got a dog leash in my pocket like this is like the worst reason ever to get picked up by the police right you're not just stealing you're stealing a dog leash okay so so the police

they put me in the car they asked me for my address I don't have a driver's license and I'm so naive I don't know the difference I'm not even a smart enough criminal to lie I I used to play golf with um with this guy um Henry who was a undercover narcotics detective and he said man if criminals weren't so stupid we never catch them like they are dumb as a box of rocks they just do the dumbest stuff and like I was stupid and so so the comps told me they said look we're going

to take you home where do you live and I told him where I lived they said we're going to take you home and we want you to go inside and tell your parents what you did and then we're going to call them and like Okay cool so they Dro me off I go inside believing that they're going to call them and I tell my parents yeah I got picked up by the police for stealing a dog leash from people's drugstore man my mom went off she beat me and beat my dad's like Bo carollyn you

gonna kill the boy right and and I'm telling you the story for a reason that was the trajectory of me of my life if a teacher said something to me and I didn't like it I'll just cuss him out a student said something to me and I didn't like it I just punched him in the face like leave me alone bro like I was that's kind of probably hard for y'all to imagine but may maybe not um but but that was the trajectory of my life and I'm in the 10th grade A friend of mine

Pete Smith was in the martial arts I'm in the martial arts Pete had little brother Andrew Andrew and Pete had another neighbor named Stan who lived down the street from them and he was in the martial arts and so one day we're at Pete's house and we're practicing martial arts and um when we get done Stan says he says Hey I want to ask you a question like sure ask me anything you want if you die today you know for sure you're going to heaven I was like what what and I thought to myself what

a random question and nobody ever asked me that before and I'm like no I'm pretty sure I wouldn't go to heaven they don't have no room up there for people like me right I'm sure no Heaven Ain't where I'd be going he said do you mind if I show you some Bible verses well one of the things that my parents taught us my brothers and I is to fear God and you don't play with God and you don't and you're nice to church people right that's what we called it we did I didn't know the

word Christian right that wasn't a word so you're nice to church people so this church guy wanted to show me some verses in the Bible sure show them to me so he shows me all these verses in the Bible I don't remember anything he said except if you don't receive Christ you're going to go to hell yeah well I get that and I don't really want to go to hell but I don't think I can do this Christian thing this church dude thing and I'm not going to be this church dude so I put my

face in my hands and I said I can't man I can't I'm a terrible person I've got a bad temper I cuss people out I beat people up I'm just not a nice guy I can't I'm not g to play with God I'm not going to tell you I'm gonna be just church dude I'm not going to do it okay cool but something happened that day the spirit of God began to convict me in such a way that every day I felt like I was going to die and drop off into hell now some people

might think well that's that's too much for a te it wasn't too much for me cuz I I knew who I was right and so so for five months so I started going to church with this guy but I'm still like I'm not gonna do I'm not g to play with God I'll go to church I'll listen to what y'all have to say but I'm not going to pretend to be one of these Church dudes I'm not doing that right and so I'm under all this conviction and then all of a sudden I go to

church it was on a Sunday night April 9th 1978 um I think that was the day um and the preacher preaches a message I didn't hear anything he said cuz I didn't need to hear anything he said cuz I was under so much conviction I'm going to die and go to hell that's all I could think about for five months so like I didn't have to hear anything the preacher said and then the preacher's giving the invitation this guy Taps me on my shoulder he says young man yes sir do you want to receive Jesus

yes sir so um so I go down the aisle get down on my knees and I ask Jesus to save me boom but I knew this is a defining moment this is not something I'm saying and doing and going along to get along so I said okay um then I got done with that and he says okay now you need to go home and tell somebody what you did so I went home and I told my mom I said Mom I got saved today she said that's nice baby I told my brother Mike who's a

year younger than me and if anybody in my family knew me Mike knew me we went like he was one grade below me we went to the same school he saw call me act a fool and he's very he was very calm I'm I wasn't calm and so I told my brother Mike hey Mike I got saved today he said yeah okay and his thought was he told me this later he didn't tell me this then he said I'll give him two weeks it'll wear off he didn't say that but that's what he thought I'll

give him two weeks he'll be back to his own self punching holes in walls cussing out teachers beating up kids he'll be back to his old self the next day and I'm going to get to I'm going to get to the passage here in a minute I'm going somewhere with this I promise you the next day there was this little skinny kid in my shop class Stanley Johnson so Stanley if you're alive and you're still watching this I hope you're doing well bro but he was a little scrawny kid and he sucker punched me in

my jaw in front of the whole class that's how I know I was saved cuz I didn't hospitalize him that day that day I and everybody's like oh go what you going to do what you going he suck punch you you Jo and I just stood there it's like wow that thing I did last night really worked that's what I'm thinking that thing I did last night really worked okay so a month or so later Stan says to me he said you need to start reading the Bible I was horrified why is horrified well I'm

not a good reader I wasn't a good reader I was a remedial reader and the thought of reading a Bible with these little bitty words no pictures two columns and thousands of pages was not remotely appealing to me but I'm not going to play with God so I'm going to start reading the Bible so I started reading the Bible and it changed everything so I'm going to read to you from Matthew chter 7 verse 24- 29 here's what it says therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them I will liken him unto a

wise man which built his house upon a rock and the rains descended and the floods came and the winds blew and be be beat upon that house and it fell not for it was founded upon a rock and everyone that heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them not shall be like liken unto a foolish man which built his house upon the sand and the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house and it fell and great was the fall of it and it came to pass when Jesus

had ended these sayings the people were astonished at his Doctrine for he taunt them as one having Authority not as the scribes and so we see in this story we see in the story how to make your life work he say what do you mean Jesus said there there are two categories of people he said there are two categories of people there is um oh that's right he he started with the wise man so let me start with the wise man he said he said yeah there's a uh there's a you got to give him

a beard if he's a wise man right okay A wise man he built his house upon a rock okay so foolish man foolish man uh different guy he built his house upon um he built his house he he built his house upon the sand two different guys and then he said he said whosoever hears these sayings of mine and doeth him I'll like him unto a man who buil he hears and then he does I'll liken him unto a man that buildt his house upon the rock as I look at my life I look at

the fact that this month this is April right this month this August that's what I meant they both start with a there's so much judgment on YouTube and in this room my goodness it's even worse okay August um this month my wife and I will celebrate our 39th anniversary 39 years by the grace of God why anybody that hears these sayings of mine and doeth them I will liken him unto a man that built his house upon a rock my like I'm 63 years old and I don't have heart disease and I don't have diabetes

and I don't have high blood pressure generally I mean sometimes it gets a little elevated but nothing major um I don't have high blood I don't take any medicines at all I don't even take Advil or Tylenol or anything and I'm 63 years of age and and and I'm in moderately good physical condition and financially I'm doing well and we've got a business that works and I've got children that are happy and and successful and blessed and know the Lord like what is that a result of it's the result of one thing hearing the sayings

and doing them if if I was going to attribute how my relationships my finances my friendships I guess that's part of relationships my fitness all of that stuff is working it's all working based on principles I found in the word of God and applied them to my life here's what the scripture says in the Book of James it says be ye doers of the word not hearers only deceiving your own selves you ain't fooling everybody else you're just fooling you if any man be a hearer of the word and not a doer he's like unto

a man beholding his natural face in a glass for he beholdeth himself and goeth his way and straight way forget what manner of man he was and and so for me one of of the things I noticed that this passage says it says anybody who hears these sayings of mine and doeth them I'll liken him unto a wise man who buildt his house upon a rock and the rains came he didn't say and if the rains are going to come he didn't say in case the rains come he said the rains came there is a

storm coming if you are alive and you are a human being there's a storm coming and maybe the storm's coming in your relationship maybe it's coming in the loss of a loved one maybe the storm's coming and the loss of a job the loss of finances maybe your house is going to burn down I don't know but storms are coming that's part of this life in this life you will have tribulation but be of good cheer I've overcome the world you say my why are you telling us this I'm telling this because what you are

going to do how you are going to do when the storm comes is determined by what you do before the storm comes not what you do when the storm comes and I remember when we got when we came to Christ I was 16 years old when I got saved I started reading the Bible then I got this this book this little book maybe 40 50 pages I don't know and it was by Chick Publications it was called next steps for growing Christians any of youall ever seen that book it had like Black cover and had

like this little baby and then this little kid and then this teenager and then this um young man and then this Warrior right and it's showing you how to grow from being this baby Christian into being somebody who's put on the full armor of God anyway one of the things that they had you do is they had us reading 10 chapters of the Bible a day I'm a teenager 10 chapters in The Bible a day praying for an hour a day and witnessing people every week that was like that was our normal we weren't watching

TV we weren't listening to music like we weren't going to parties we were witnessing to people we'd ride up on our bicycles to the playground and say hey can we play basketball against y'all and if we win we can tell youall about Jesus I mean we were all in but I'm I'm I'm I'm going to church church is there somebody at the door okay somebody's at the door y'all somebody can let them in so um the so what we're doing is I'm I'm I'm going to church and I'm I'm seeing all these people at church

and I'm hearing these messages the preachers preaching at church and I'm thinking to myself okay y'all say an amen to this stuff and y'all comeing here every week how comes I don't ever see y'all doing none of this stuff I was confused I was confused why what people were doing wasn't n matching what we were hearing has anybody else ever been confused when you went to church by like if this is what we believe how come this ain't how we living right okay and so I was I was confused about but we decided as children

as teenagers we are going to do this book we're not just going to hear it we're going to do this book and so so this like if my life is working at all and it's working fairly well in a lot of departments it's because we've applied the word of God to that aspect of our life so there are two different categories of people what are the two different categories of people well one's a wise man one's a fool so how does one become wise well first you have to recognize what wisdom is and wisdom is

not smart it's not the same thing wisdom doesn't mean smart and it doesn't mean educated and it doesn't mean you have a lot of degrees behind your name you can be wise and have all that but you can also have all that and be a fool so we have to Define what it means to be wise and so there's wisdom has some prerequisites and we've talked about those before we'll talk about them again really briefly so what is what are the prerequisites well the first prerequisite of wisdom is what ignorance and congratulations you were born

with that when you got here you didn't know anything you didn't know your name you didn't know a house from a car up from down hot from cold wet from dry you didn't know anything neither did I congratulations we were all born ignorant so what happens after that what what is ignorance well okay in fact I'm gonna write it over here so um prere before you can become this guy number one you have to have ignorance what is ignorance the absence of truth that's what ignorance is absence of truth you don't know the truth then

what happens well then you say well you know what that I ain't cool with that so I'm gon to do something different so then you get knowledge what's knowledge knowledge is the accumulation of Truth so you learn the truth that you didn't know now you have knowledge knowledge by it some people say knowledge is power well knowledge is potential power it's not power right and so knowledge is accumulation of Truth you go around you start collecting truth oh I I always imagine I always imagine me learning happen something like this I'm probably eight months old

nine months old cuz you know I was very early developing child I was probably I was probably slobbering going like this holding my hand go you know you know how babies do and my mom probably said that's your hand baby like H huh huh huh huh and I learned that was my hand then another day I'm doing this she go H hand I'm like wait I thought that was my hand no I'm just kidding so I had to find out I had to find out that I have a right hand and a left hand now

I don't know if any of you ever thought this my brain just goes everywhere I don't I know if yours does that or not but I used to think when I was a little kid well if this is my right hand and this is my left hand this is on my right side this is on my left side if I turn around like this does this become my right hand this become my left hand and when I found out that wasn't the case now maybe nobody else does anybody else ever think that you thought that

too Ryan thank you so it's not just okay in the room okay and maybe who knows guys maybe we're the normal ones just saying that possibility does exist okay and so so but I had to learn my right hand from my left hand that's knowledge then I had to learn my feet and my left foot from my left right foot and then I had to learn how to tell time then I had had to learn how to read and I had to learn how to write and all the count money when you were born you

didn't know how to do anything so this should be one of the most encouraging things you've ever heard in your life if you think about all the stuff you couldn't do when you landed on this planet and you sit down and just take inventory of all the things you know how to do now that should encourage you and let you know there's nothing you can't learn he like I don't know how to use a computer okay that sounds acceptable today but 30 days from now if you still don't know how to use one that's unacceptable

why it doesn't take 30 days to learn how to use one but I don't know how to and it doesn't matter what you fill in the blank with not knowing how is never an excuse and so so so I began to get knowledge and then from knowledge then you get you get number three is you get understanding what is understanding understanding is the assimilation of Truth what does that mean that means you now comprehend the truth that you've collected so now not only have I collected all these now I understand what they mean do you

realize you can have knowledge without understanding like I learned how to play the piano by somebody teaching me how to play two songs so I had knowledge of how to play the song song I had no understanding whatsoever of what key they were in or what notes I was playing I just knew how to play the song so you can have knowledge without understanding knowledge without understanding can take you fur further than no knowledge at all but knowledge without understanding cannot take you as far as knowledge and understanding together are y'all tracking okay and then

lastly is then we get to have wisdom okay what's wisdom wisdom is the application of Truth you are not wise until you do something about the things you know you might be smart you might have a degree you might be educated you might be intelligent but you are not wise until you do something about what you know what is a what is a foolish man one who abandons the abandonment of Truth and maybe you're abandoning it because you didn't hear it but interestingly enough that's not who Jesus is talking about Jesus is not talking about

the people who are out there who never heard the truth he's talking about the people who heard the truth and didn't do it why are there so many people who hear the truth and then don't do it why why why is it that so many of us know what to do we just don't do what we know now wish I had some helping here so there are two categories of people one category of person is a wise man the other category of person is the fool the bible promises all kinds of benefits to those who

apply truth to their lives so how do how do we describe a foolish person a foolish person disregards truth to their own Peril they abandon truth they sacrifice truth on the altar of and you can fill in the blank a good feeling a good time going along to get along having people like them they will sacrifice the truth on whatever altar is necessary the altar of popularity the altar of prophets the whatever it doesn't matter but the fool is the one who has an agenda based on appearance and not actuality they love what sounds good

even when it disregards what is good that's a fool but not only are there two categories of people there are two construction projects okay what are the two construction projects the wise man buildt his house where on a rock so this rock let me see what color am I going to make the rock there's a place called Red Rock so I'm going to build it on red this is big old rock okay the wise man built his house on a rock that's his garage okay and then you got and then you got some windows okay

the wise man built his house upon the rock the rock is the foundation of the house true truth is foundational to building your life if you don't build your life on the truth of God's word you are literally setting yourself up for disaster now people say I don't believe the word of God that doesn't matter you can get away with that as long as you can get away with that in fact I'll promise you this you can get away with it until the storm comes what storm I don't know it it's amazing I don't believe

in God right but when a loved one dies now you want to believe God when there's a terrorist attack now you want to pray can I get a witness when the stock market crashes now oh God Bless America okay where was that prayer before when you were when you were Intoxicated by the delusion of control okay so he built his house upon the RO so the foundation the foundation of the house is truth the floor when you build the foundation you Foundation now you build a floor what's the floor of the house H the floor

um actually forgotten um the floor of your house oh the practices of God's word this is this is where you practice God's word you actually do the thing so the floor is your practices of the principles in the truth this this truth these are principles what are principles principles are God's automation so God EST establish principles to automate processes like the law of gravity I drop this if I drop this pen God doesn't have to say okay you fall you fall you fall he just said okay I'm going to weave gravity into the fabric of

the universe so when somebody drops something it falls okay the practice is I I observe the principles of Truth and then I practice practices that take into consideration that truth does that make sense everybody y'all with me okay so Foundation is truth the floor now then we have the frame so you have to put the frame up before you put the house up right you frame it in so for those of you who are Builders I you know you got you got to you have to you once you put the foundation in then you put

the you build this the walls and you frame them out and they're 16 inch apart to the center of the studs so you know where to put your drywall screws when you're building right so you're talking about we're talking about framing the house well what's the framework the framework of the house is the patterns so this is the patterns so one of the things that so cool about the Bible many things but the patterns is they are repeatable they give you the ability to know without having to make your brain sweat too much what what

do I mean okay so the Bible is not a book about religion it contains religion but it's not a book about religion God's not promoting religion in the Bible believe it or not God's promoting government what government the kingdom of God that's the government the Bible is a governmental document it is not a religious document it's not like it's not like the Quran it's not like it's not like um The Book of Mormon it's not like um The Watchtower it the Bible is not a book about religion it contains religion but it's not about religion

it's about Kingdom it's about a king a kingdom a royal family and the culturalization of a foreign land called Earth that's what the Bible's about and so the Bible is a book of principles promises patterns practices precepts prophecies and prayers that give us as human beings the ability to make predictions about the future they're called conditional promises for a reason and so what happens is we find these principles these patterns in scripture and then we can know what's about to happen based on what just happened for instance if I'm going to create something I know

if I go back to Genesis chapter 1 the first thing that God tells us about himself in Genesis chapter 1 is that he's Crea now I'm always fascinated by the fact that Genesis 1 has so many verses in it CU it could have just been the first verse in last verse in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth and all the Earth was finished and all the host of them and God rested on the seventh right that could have been the whole chapter but then God starts going into all this detail in the

beginning God created heaven the Earth and the Earth was out form and void Darkness upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said let there be light and there was light and God saw the light that it was good like what are you doing why are you going into all this detail you already told us you created now you're going to go into all the detail of what you created on what day and by the way yes I believe that God created everything that

is in six days like 24-hour days just like the Bible says and I'm not going to attempt to make it fit in with Evolution because evolution is a religious farce okay I'm not even I don't even have more time to cover that and I know some of you no it's science okay it's proven by science science doesn't prove anything scientists attempt to use science to prove their theories so so let's don't let's don't be confused by all of that well how do I know that it was s now why why is it important first of

all let me ask answer that question why is it important that God created everything out of nothing in six days why is that important it's important because the first thing that God tells us about God is that he's creative God is love but that's not the first thing he tells us about himself God is Holy but that's not the first thing he tells us about himself God is righteous but that's not the first thing he tells us about himself God is omnipotent omnicient and omnipresent but those none of those are the first thing God tells

what's the first thing God tells us in the beginning God created the Heaven and Earth I know that confused anybody else but when I read that I'm like what would you do that for he's self-existent self-sufficient self-satisfied he needs nothing why would you create something you don't need that's only going to it's not going to give you a headache because you don't get headaches but but it's only going to it's it's going to be problems why would you do that here's why because he is creative and therefore it is his nature to create God created

as an expression of his identity and and the first thing he told us about himself is that he's creative but the first thing he told us about us is that he created us in His image and he made us in his likeness which means he created us to create stuff and he made us to make stuff so if I'm not creating I am not exercising my godlikeness I cannot exercise my godlikeness by consuming I can only exercise my godlikeness by creating are y'all tracking yes and so God in Genesis chapter 1 gives us a pattern

this is the framework gives us a pattern for creation you want to how about produ you want to talk about productivity God created all of the elements and all of the principles and all of the stuff that was going to make everything work that would work from now on in six days and rested on Seventh Day what so why is God telling us in detail what he created because he's showing us the pattern when we start to create stuff he's showing us what we can expect what does that mean begins with watch this it begins

with when we talk about patterns it begins with intention right in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth why because that was his intention he intended to create the Heaven and the Earth so he created the Heaven and the Earth everything begins now with us creation doesn't begin with intention there's one prerequisite for us with it that God didn't need when he created and that prerequisite to intention is awareness I have to become aware of something I didn't know in order for me to intend to create something I didn't create or had not

yet created God didn't have to become aware of something he didn't know because he already knew everything he already he is awareness right and so but it starts with intention you set your intention and then what happens and the Earth was without form the word was is not the word used to be it's the word became what does that mean it the Earth became without form and void and darkness upon the face of the deep so the next thing we see is we see disruption follows intention so this is the pattern I don't have to

be shocked now when I when I intend to go build my business and I go out there into the marketplace and it doesn't work at first I don't have to be shocked by that oh when I get ready to create a new you YouTube channel and I put up my YouTube video and I think it's going to be the greatest thing ever and two people watch it in the first month I don't have to be discouraged by that why disruption always follows intention it's a principle it doesn't sometimes follow intention like if you decide to

start eating right and you've been eating junk food for decades you're going to feel so much worse before you start to feel better if you're out of shape and you start working out you're are not going to feel stronger first you're going to feel weaker first why because disruption always follows intention Joseph had a dream his dream caused his brothers to hate him they threw him in a pit they talked about killing him he was sold into slavery he was thrown into prison for a crime he didn't commit what but I but I had a

dream yeah but sometimes your dream will drag you through some drama on the way to your destiny and then and the and without the drama there is no Destiny why because the drama that we that our Dream drags us through is the thing that makes us strong enough to stay there when we get there and it doesn't matter if it's Joseph who had to go down into the pit down into Pier's house down into the prison before he could rise and become the prime minister or if it's David who gets Anointed with oil by Samuel

in the presence of his Brethren and then he spends years of his life running from Saul who wants to kill him or if it's Jesus who gets baptized in the Jordan and he comes up out of the water and the Heaven's open and the father says this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased and immediately he was led of the spirit Into the Wilderness to be tempted of the devil and you think you're going to set a new intention to do something good and everything's going to be hunky dory you are delusional

there's a storm coming but if you build your house on the right foundation and you have the right if you have the right principles and you have the right practices you have the right patterns the storm can come come on storm I built a house knowing a storm was going to come I built my life knowing a storm was going to come and so disruption follows intention and then after disruption follows intention the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters we need to find a source of inspiration and then what happened God

said let there be light okay we need to find some illumination what's illumination illumination is when we learn something that we didn't know so we can now see something we couldn't see so we can now do something we couldn't do before we had the illumination are y'all seeing this process a wise man built his house upon the rock what's the rock well the rock are the principles they're the practices they're the patterns and then the protection is the fortification or the roof the fortification is the protection of the house and that is the protection of

the word of God I'm so glad I don't have to wonder how it's going to turn out anything I get ready to build I already know how it's going to work now I may not know when it's going to work but I know how it's going to work and I know that it's going to work now isn't that exciting isn't it exciting to know that you can have something like that to know that it's going to work I don't have to I don't have to drive the vehicle of my life down the highway of my

experience with one foot on the gas and another foot on the brake because I don't know how it's going to turn out so the rock is solid the rock is stable The Rock oops the rock is sizable so when I'm building my house the house of my life on the rock of these principles I'm building my house on something that's solid stable and sizable but the foolish man he built his house upon the sand um it's going to take me a long time to draw Sand so he builts his house upon the sand and then

when he builds his house upon the sand guess what so we're talking about two construction projects yeah he can have a garage too okay two construction projects one of those construction progress Pro projects is built upon the rock the other construction project is built upon the sand and when you build your house on the sand you are setting yourself up for disaster why because the foundation of the house this are the traditions of the world you know the interesting thing about traditions they change right they are the status quo that works no more just made

that up on the go all right I'm done so um the floor of this house are the trends of the world man they how long do Trends last a couple weeks sometimes a couple months right it's like oh no that ain't in style no more but it was just in style no it ain't in style no more right it's really fascinating how I I I don't think it ever made as much sense to me as it does right now the saying that the only thing that has to happen for evil to Prevail is for good

men to stand by and do nothing but it's about time that we as followers of Christ stop going along to get along and stop attempting to be first Peaceable and then pure cuz the wisdom that is from above is first pure then it's Peaceable then it's easy to be intreated but it starts out pure and all I'm saying is we have to stop going through life pretending that God's only attribute is love okay anyway the framework of the house the walls these are all tactics what do I do next what do I do next the

tactics of the world system here's the interesting thing about the tactics sometimes they work sometimes they don't you build your house on it you're going to be sorely disappointed the fortification of the house is trust in the world system you're trusting the wrong thing well here's the interesting thing about the house the the sand the sand is small the sand is subtle just like Satan and the the sand is Shifting there's no way for this house to stand when the rain comes it's interesting Jesus said he said and the rains came and the floods Rose

and the wind beat on that house and when it fell great was the fall of it now do y'all remember that the little kid song y'all remember it the wise men build his house upon the rock the wise man build his house upon the rock the wise man build his house upon the rock and the rains came tumbling down the rains came down and the floods came up the rains came down and the floods came up the rains came down and the floods came up and the wise man's house stood firm the foolish man built

his house upon the sand the foolish man built his house I know y'all thinking is he gonna sing the whole song yeah he gonna sing the whole song The foolish man built his house upon the sand and the rains came tumbling down the rains came down and the floods came up the rains came down and the floods came up the rains came down and the floods came up and the foolish man's house went huh that's more than just a song when we build our lives on the principles and the practices and the promises of the

word of God when the storm comes our life will stand but if we build our practice our lives on the traditions and the trends and the tactics and Trust in the world system when the storm comes our house will collapse period there's there's no there's no but what if it doesn't there are two um catastrophic problems what what are the two catastrophic problems two storms or maybe it was the same storm but for one of them it was a catastrophic problem see you are applying the word of God to your life does not get you

to opt out of trouble it just gives you the ability to last through it people who love God have stuff happen to them amen somebody wrote a book why do good bad things happen to good people I want to know what are the bad things and I want to know who are these good people that's what I want to know because you cannot tell looking through the windshield of your life what situation is good and what situation is bad that is something you can only tell when you're looking through the rearview mirror because everything that

feels good is not good and everything that feels bad is not bad well what are the two catastrophic problems well one is water the other is wind what is water a picture of well water in the Bible is a picture of might if you think about when the whole earth was full of violence in Genesis chapter 6 what God sent to destroy the world was water and it rained for 40 days and 40 nights after having never rained in over a thousand years now all of a sudden it rains for 40 days and 40 nights

water the the Hebrew the Hebrew word for water is maim which is f fting because it's plural cuz water is a mass noun you'd never say give me a like um I'm going to go get well we do say that now a water but it doesn't make sense we mean a bottle of water right but when we think of water we think about I'm going to drink some water we wouldn't say I'm going to drink a water I'm going to drink some water right why because water is a mass noun um so it's a plural

and MIM is the might of the ocean what's more powerful than a tsunami not not much that I can think of right and so water is very powerful 6 Ines like six inches of moving water can knock a full- grown man off his feet we're talking about a flood I was at my friend Stan the guy who led me to Christ I was at his house we were adults we were at his house my my family was at we were hanging out with his family my kids were hanging out with his kids me and him

were hanging out him my wife and his wife were hanging out and we're just talking and it was in the spring I don't remember what year it was probably 1998 Maybe and all of a sudden I hear this noise in the basement and I go down the basement and his toilet in the basement was projectile vomiting I say what does that mean there was literally a big old round spout of water coming up out of the toilet onto the floor in the basement I'm like this is a I said hey bro your toilet's um projectile

V it's overflowing in a very unusual way well what had happened was the river the susqu river had over FL and so water was going down into the sewer and he lived down pretty close to Front Street he lived on Green Street down pretty so was Front Street um Green Street Second Street or Front Street Second Street Green Street you live really close within three blocks of the river and so this water going down into the um sewer system was coming up in people's basements was crazy literally from the time I told him that I

said Okay um yeah we got to go somewhere else so I get my family I like okay y'all go get in the car by the time I from the time I saw the water to the time I got in the car the water was halfway up to the center of my wheels I'm like this is it happened so fast it was like it was like what am I watching right now right um I remember the flood of 72 in Pennsylvania also that was a whole different animal electricity was out and the raining and we were

like what are we going to do and the wat's coming up it's just it was just crazy so floods are really mind-blowingly crazy well water is a picture of danger but also a picture of doubt and the doubt we have when the danger arises and Jesus said the water's coming and then he said to the winds now winds winds are different winds are a picture of false Doctrine in scripture in fact if you go read the story in Mark 4 where Jesus is asleep on a pillow on the back of a boat and it's raining

in the water the boat's full of water they woke him up and they said Master carest thou not that we perish and here's what it says and he arose and he rebuked the wind but he said unto the sea peace be still so he rebuked the wind but he didn't rebuke the sea that's fascinating is that fascinating or is it just me why did he rebuke the wind because wind is a picture of false Doctrine why do he speak to the Sea because the water is a picture of false out it was threatening to destroy

them but it couldn't destroy them because before they got in the boat Jesus said let us pass over to the other side so we're going to the other side Jesus doesn't rebuke us for having doubt he speaks to our doubts but he rebukes false Doctrine and so so the two catastrophic problems are water and wind there are two conclusions possible if you build your house upon the sand then the only possibility for you is catastrophic destruction the Waters of false doubt and the Winds of false Doctrine are going to destroy your life period you build

your house upon the sand but if you build your house upon the rock the other conclusion is possible which is what um consistent dependability you will be able to trust that what you work on is going to work why because you build it on something that cannot change what is that the truth of God's word so here's you say my what is this whole rant about if you will make the purpose of your life discovering the principles of God and then weaving those principles into the practices of your life when the storm comes your life

will stand and I've got news for you now the storm's coming I it could be it could be an economic storm it could be an ecological storm it could be a relational storm it could be a financial storm it could be it could be uh a health storm but storm's coming build your house on the rock before the storm comes don't wait until the rain starts falling to start looking for a new blueprint if you will do this when the storm is over you will be able to rest content knowing that you were prepared here's
