this is a timeline of the entire book of Genesis this first book of the Bible is made up of a series of events that seem pretty bizarre and random on their own but when you add them all together they actually form one story about two choices God offers every person on Earth let's find out what these two choices are as each event in the story appears on the timeline starting with chapter 1 Genesis begins with God creating three different realms in three days light water and sky and the dry land then filling these Realms each
with a different ruler the following three days the Stars to rule the heavens the fish and birds to rule the water and sky and the animals to rule the land but then God created a creature who would rule more than just one realm the Bible says that God made humans in His image but this doesn't mean that God has arms and legs it has to do with God's reason for creating the humans God told man and woman to multiply and rule the entire world they were given the responsibility of representing and ruling all the creatures
of all three Realms on God's behalf to be made in God's image is to be made for the purpose of representing the image of God on the earth this was God's original plan for the Earth which is why he rested the sth day the world was at peace but one of these creatures wasn't too excited about being ruled by the humans this creature was more than just a snake this was the spiritual Rebel you know as Satan and he convinced the humans to rebel against God but not only did this Rebellion lead to the entire
world and Satan being cursed it's going to lead to one of the most creepy stories in the entire Bible that 99% of Christians have never been taught in church the humans are cast out of God's presence but not before God makes a promise to them he says that the humans are going to have a righteous son who will one day crush the rebel snake Satan but not without Satan bruising his heel hm strange promise but this is just the first of three big promises God makes to the humans in the Book of Genesis one of
them has already been fulfilled the other one is being fulfilled as a I speak and the last one will be fulfilled in the future I'll explain more later but for now let's move to the next event on our timeline the man and woman have two sons Cain and Abel who grew up hearing about how their mom and dad used to live in God's presence before the whole snake incident happened they used to be able to physically walk and talk with God but since Canan able couldn't physically do that they decided to show their love for
God in a different way by offering gift gifts their parents must have been so proud I wonder if they thought maybe one of these Sons will be the righteous son who crushes the evil snake like God promised but something else happened instead the Bible says that God gazed upon Abel's gift but not Cain's this infuriated Cain so much that he killed his brother out of jealousy Cain was supposed to rule over his evil impulses but instead he let the evil control him just like his parents were supposed to rule over the snake but instead they
let the snake take control but God showed Mercy on Cain and let him live despite his evil actions Cain's family grew and became more and more evil until eight Generations later the unthinkable happened I actually can't believe this is in the Bible because it's one of the most creepy things you'll probably ever hear in your entire life parents be advised the Bible says that Not only was the wickedness of mankind great in the Earth but so was the wickedness of the sons of God this phrase is a reference to angels in the Old Testament as
mankind multiplied so did the women and these angels wanted them for themselves so they took them as wives and had babies together I told you it was going to get weird but as you might imagine these weren't your everyday newborn cuddlebugs the Bible calls these Angel human hybrids neph and they grew to be fierce Giants this is interesting because some of the oldest non-biblical texts in the world also talk about these giants like one from ancient Mesopotamia that describes a giant man named Gilgamesh who is half man half God and built a great Empire these
ancient empires make these Nephilim sound like Heroes but the Bible describes these giant Warriors as being part of the Great evil in the world at the time so why were these NE Giants such an Abomination to God aside from the fact they wanted to exalt themselves like Gods one other reason might have to do with the promise God made to the humans at the beginning that one day one righteous human son would crush Satan's evil Rebellion these Nephilim were a distortion of God's plan for the human race which is why he had to do something
to save Humanity before they completely destroyed themselves and he used an ordinary regularized man to do it this story about Noah building a big boat to survive God flooding the entire Earth with water is one that raises a lot of questions from both atheists and Christians like how did all the animals fit in the ark and how could one man build such a giant ship unlike how Noah's Ark is usually portrayed in kids books it actually would have looked like this this is a life-size replica of what the good people over at the ark encounter
believe it would have looked like based on the specifications given in the Bible it would have been about the size of your average cargo ship today many scholars believe that Noah would have had about 55 to 75 years to build this massive ship and nowhere does it say he couldn't have hired people to help him build it also contrary to popular opinion the Bible doesn't say that two of every animal was brought onto the ark the Bible actually says that it was two of every animal after their kind this means that Noah didn't have to
bring both wolves and Chihuahuas on board he could have just brought one male and one female canine but thanks to genetic mutation the Chihuahua was able to return to the world many years after the flood these animals also could have been babies which is how they all would have easily fit in this massive ship the Bible says that water came down from the sky and up from the ground flooding the entire Earth God saved Noah and his wife his three sons and their wives and the Animals most people don't know this but one of Noah's
sons is about to do something pretty horrible to his dad and it's probably not what you were taught at Sunday school but first the floodwaters Stop and Noah offers a gift to God to thank him for saving him and his family God had saved humanity and he only required one thing of them continue the task he had given the humans from the very beginning go reflect his image across the entire Earth which Noah's Three Sons Shem ham and japheth started to do in fact the Bible says that all the nations of the world came from
these three sons for example one of Ham's Sons is literally named misraim which means Egypt in Hebrew but for some odd reason one of Ham's other Sons Canaan is cursed by God I've always wondered why this son speciic specifically was cursed the truth is this curse only makes sense when you understand what ham did to his dad Noah and it's probably not what you think again parents be advised sometime after the flood Noah had a little too much to drink and passed out naked and the Bible says that Ham's son was cursed because ham looked
at his father's nakedness most would read this and think that ham just happened to walk into the wrong place at the wrong time but that's not exactly why his son was cursed this phrase can also be a Hebrew idiom that means to sleep with someone else's wife and Ham's dad Noah only had one wife so yeah why in the world would ham do such a horrible thing you might ask well at the time this would have been a way for ham to signal to the family that he was the alpha male in charge but if
a son was born out of this shameful relationship then it would make sense why that specific son would be cursed Canaan Would One Day become a nation who God would have to deal with later by the way soon I'm going to be sending out a PDF of the complete timeline of the Book of Genesis that you've seen in this video to everyone subscribed to the visual Bible Club my newsletter where I send short visual Bible studies directly to your inbox for free Link in the description to sign up but first God has to deal with
something else instead of these nations obeying God and filling the Earth they decide to do something else instead they built a tower which made God pretty upset many believe they have even found the location of where this Tower was being built but before we look at that you need to know why God was so angry about this tall building Scholars are agreed that this Tower would have been an ancient ziggurat this unique pyramid-like building can be found in just about every ancient civilization on Earth which would make sense if every nation at one point in
time was United in constructing this exact type of building but check this out anytime a zigurat has been found the evidence always shows that it was used for only one thing a temple for worship but the Nations building this particular zigurat weren't interested in worshiping God the Bible says that the people were building this Tower to make a name for themselves they were worshiping people rather than the one who created these people and it's for this reason that God confused their language and Scattered the Nations but then what happened to this giant ziggurat archaeologists like
Joel Kramer believe they have found the exact location where this zigurat used to be located the Bible says that the place where this whole Fiasco occurred was called Babel which is where we get the name Babylon which later became an empire located in the country of Iraq today and guess what's been discovered in Iraq the foundation of what scholars believe to have been the largest zigurat that ever existed you've probably heard the Tower of Babel story before but most people don't realize that God didn't just confuse the nation's languages as punishment for not worshiping him
he gave them something else to worship instead I was shocked to learn about this but there's actually another description about what happened at the Tower of Babel in the book of Deuteronomy in chapter 32 it says that God gave to the Nations their inheritance when he divided mankind this is a clear reference to God's scattering the Nations at the Tower of Babel but what was their inheritance God fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God there's that phrase again if you remember this is a reference to Angels like
the ones who had rebelled against God Before the Flood this passage is saying that since the people didn't want to worship ship him he gave them up to worship these Fallen Angels these ancient Nations refer to these Angelic beings as the gods and even carved Idols to represent these false gods but one of these Idol worshippers was about to have an encounter with the one true God that would lead to a new promise and a series of pretty epic events his name was Abraham and he was a descendant of Noah's son Shem the Book of
Joshua tells us Abraham came from a family of Idol worshippers I've made an entire video about Abraham so I'm going to go through these pretty fast just kidding not that fast first God calls Abraham to leave his homeland and become a blessing to the Nations but then he lies to the king of Egypt and brings a curse on the land but after that he has faith in God's promise to give him a son and is blessed but then he tries to force God's Promise by Sleeping with his servant Hagar next Abraham asked God to not
destroy the city his nephew is staying in which seems like a kind thing to ask for except that the people of this city are some of canaan's descendants who were doing some pretty evil stuff so God toasted them with fire next Abraham and his wife have their promised son Isaac who Abraham trusts god with when he's put to the test but in the end Abraham dies these are just a few of the things that Abraham did but do you see the two sides of his life on one hand Abraham has a ton of faith and
is blessed but on the other hand he also lacks Faith at times which results in death are you starting to see the two choices this Genesis story is All About Abraham's son Isaac has two sons but instead of God blessing the older son Esau which would have been the custom God blesses the younger son Jacob God is saying that from Jacob's descendants will come the Satan rushing savior but not only that Jacob will also receive the promise given to his grandfather Abraham that all the nations will be blessed through him the same Nations who had
turned on God to worship false gods God was promising Jacob that he was going to reverse the curse he had placed on the Nations at Babel this is the second big promise God made in the Book of Genesis I can't wait to tell you how this promise is literally being fulfilled today as I speak so let's go through Jacob's life quickly after God promises to bless Jacob instead of trusting God for the blessing he deceives his father Isaac into giving him the blessing this makes Jacob's brother want to kill him so Jacob flees to his
uncle laan's house but before he arrives he lies down and has a very strange dream of a staircase that was on the earth and reached to the heavens similar to the staircase on the zigurat of Babel Jacob saw angels going up and down these stairs but at the very top was God physically standing there God made a promise to Jacob that the land he was lying on and Beyond would be his then Jacob woke up what did this mean God was making a promise that he is going to set up his kingdom on Earth one
day on his terms not like the people at Babel who tried to reach heaven with their big tower and he was going to use Jacob's descendant to do it this is the third big promise God made in Genesis and you might be shocked at how this promise is going to be fulfilled along with the others so Jacob arrives at laan's house where he meets the love of his life Rachel but Lain tricks Jacob into marrying his older daughter first and working 14 years for him after Jacob leaves to go back to his homeland he sees
Angels again but this time it's not a dream these angels tell Jacob that his brother who wanted to kill him before was heading his way and it's here that one of the strangest accounts in the Bible is recorded a Man shows up at night and physically wrestles with Jacob when the man sees that Jacob isn't quitting he punches him where you really don't want to be punched if you're a man and causes his hip to go out of joint but Jacob still didn't let up check out what Jacob says to this man I won't let
you go unless you bless me so the man blessed him after changing Jacob's name to Israel meaning to struggle with God the name was fitting because this mystery man was the same figure who Jacob had seen in his dream standing above the Earth after the wrestling match Jacob even said I have now seen God face to face and survived everything ended up being fine with his brother Esau but then Jacob's sons deceive an entire city to get revenge on one of the citizens who hurt their sister Dina let's just say a lot of people died
oh yeah we haven't really mentioned Jacob's sons yet but they're actually really important to the Genesis story he had 12 of them who came from a total of four wives these Sons will later become the 12 tribes of Israel named after their father who had his name changed from Jacob but their father had a favorite son Joseph I was shocked when I discovered this but the life of Joseph is like a summary of the entire book of Genesis this let me explain Joseph has a couple of dreams as a teenager about him ruling the land
and the stars of the sky this should remind us of God's original purpose for man to be the rulers of all that he created but Joseph's brothers sell him into slavery out of jealousy for being dad's favorite kind of similar to how Cain killed his brother Abel out of jealousy so Joseph is taken away from his home to a foreign land where he has favor among the egyp Ian and is blessed similar to how Abraham was called to a foreign land and had favor among the Canaanites but in this story the favor doesn't last Joseph's
master has a wife who tries to seduce him but instead of letting himself be ruled by his evil impulses he overcomes Temptation doesn't this remind you of the promise God made to the humans when they were cursed that one day someone would come who would crush that tempting snake but not without the snake crusher's heel being bruised which is exactly what happens next in the Joseph story his master's wife convinces her husband to throw Joseph into prison instead of being rewarded for his Good Deeds he's punished but it's this punishment that results in something incredible
happening through a series of events Joseph meets the king of Egypt and is made second in command to rule on behalf of the king in other words Joseph was tasked with representing the image of the king sound familiar and just like Noah's family needed to be saved from the flood Joseph's family needed to be saved from the famine in Canaan and like Noah was used by God to rescue the human race from destruction Joseph was used by God to save the family of Israel from famine but then his dad Jacob the father of the nation
of Israel died after blessing his 12 sons just like Noah the father of the nation s died after blessing his three sons but something really cool happens that most people miss the entire book of Genesis get summed up into one single phrase after Jacob dies his sons get worried that Joseph is going to now put them all to death you know because of selling him into slavery and all but then Joseph says this shocking statement you meant evil but God meant it for good Genesis is a story about God bringing good good out of the
world where humans continually choose evil it's about God raising life out of death Joseph dies but his death reminds us that the curse has not yet been broken but one will come out of Jacob's descendants who will overcome death and offer eternal life to anyone who will receive it he does this by fulfilling all three promises that were made in Genesis Jesus Christ destroys the power of Satan but is bruised in the Pro process through his death on the cross through Christ the curse of Babel is reversed as all the nations of the world now
have the opportunity to know God and become one forever family anytime you share the good news with someone you are actively fulfilling God's promise to bless the Nations and finally God promised to set up his kingdom here on Earth and reign as king This Promise will be fulfilled when Christ returns a second time time the amazing thing is God has actually told us exactly how he's going to do this in the very last book of the Bible if you want to see how the entire story of the Bible ends I've actually made a full timeline
video on the Book of Revelation which you can view here [Music]
