Psalm 88 Lord you are the God who saves me day and night I cry out to you may my prayer come before you turn your ear to my cry I am overwhelmed with troubles and my life draws near to death I am counted among those who go down to the pit I am like one without strength I am set apart with the dead like the slain who lie in the grave whom you remember no more who are cut off from your care you have put me in the lowest pit in the darkest depths your wrath
lies heavily on me you have overwhelmed me with all your waves you have taken from me my closest friends and have made me repulsive to them I am confined and cannot Escape my eyes are Di with grief I call to you Lord every day I spread out my hands to you do you show your wonders to the Dead do their Spirits rise up and praise you is your love declared in the grave your faithfulness in destruction are your wonders known in the place of Darkness or Your Righteous deeds in the land of Oblivion but I
cry to you you for help Lord in the morning my prayer comes before you why Lord do you reject me and hide your face from me from my youth I have suffered and being close to death I have borne your Terrors and am in despair your wrath has swept over me your Terrors have destroyed me all day long they surround me like a flood they have completely engulfed me you have taken from me friend and neighbor darkness is my closest friend Job chapter 3 after this job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his
birth he said May the day of my birth perish and the night that said a boy is conceived that day May it turn to Darkness may God above not care about it may no light shine on it May Gloom and utter Darkness claim it once more may a cloud settle over it may Blackness overwhelm it that night May thick Darkness seize it may it not be included among the days of the year nor be entered in any of the months May that night be Barren May no shout of Joy be heard in it may those
who curse days curse that day those who are ready to Rouse Leviathan May its morning stars become dark may it wait for daylight in vain and not see the first rays of dawn for it did not shut the doors of the womb on me to hide trouble from my eyes why did I not perish at Birth and die as I came from the womb why were their knees to receive me and breasts that I might be nursed for now I would be lying down in peace I would be asleep and at rest with King and
rulers of the earth who built for themselves places now lying in Ruins with princes who had gold who filled their houses with silver or why was I not hidden away in the ground like a stillborn child like an infant who never saw the light of day there the wicked cease from turmoil and there the weary are at rest captives also enjoy their ease they no longer hear the slave dve shout the small and the great are there and the slaves are freed from their owners why is light given to those in misery and life to
the bitter of soul to those who long for death that does not come who search for it more than for Hidden Treasure who are filled with gladness and rejoice when they reach the grave why is life given to a man whose way is hidden whom God has hedged in for sighing has become my daily food my groans pour out like water what I feared has come upon me what I dreaded has happened to me I have no peace no quietness I have no rest but only turmoil Lamentations chapter 3 I am the man who has
seen Affliction by the rod of the Lord's wroth he has driven me away and made me walk in darkness rather than light indeed he has turned his hand against me again and again all day long he has made my skin and my flesh grow old and has broken my bones he has besieged me and surrounded me with bitterness and hardship he has made me dwell in darkness like those long dead he has walled me in so that I cannot Escape he has weighed me down with chains even when I call out or cry for help
he shuts out my prayer he has barred my way with blocks of stone he has made my paths crooked like a bear lying in weight like a lion in hiding he dragged me from the path and mangled me and left me without help he drew his bow and made me the target for his arrows he pierced my heart with arrows from his quiver I became the laughing stock of all my people they mock me in song all day long he has filled me with bitter herbs and given me gal to drink he has broken my
teeth with gravel he has trampled me in the dust I have been deprived of peace I have forgotten what Prosperity is so I said say my Splendor is gone and all that I had hoped from the Lord I remember my Affliction and my wandering the bitterness and the gall I well remember them and my soul is downcast within me yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed for compassions never fail they are new every morning great is your faithfulness I say to myself
the Lord is my portion therefore I will wait for him the Lord is good to those whose hope is in him to the one who seeks him it is good to wait quietly for the Salvation of the Lord it is good for a man to Bear the the Yoke while he is Young let him sit alone in silence for the lord has laid it on him let him bury his face in the dust there may yet be hope let him offer his cheek to one who would strike him and let him be filled with disgrace
for no one is cast off by the Lord forever though he brings grief he will show compassion so great is his unfailing love for he does not willingly bring Affliction or grief to anyone to crush underfoot all prisoners in the land to deny people their rights before the most high to deprive them of Justice would not the Lord see such things who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it is it not from the mouth of the most high that both calamities and good things come why should the living complain
when punished for their sins let us examine our ways and test them and let us return to the Lord let us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven and say we have sinned and rebelled and you have not forgiven you have covered yourself with anger and pursued us you have slain Without Pity you have covered yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can get through you have made us scum and refu among the Nations all our enemies have opened their mouths wide against us we have suffered Terror and pitfalls ruin
and destruction streams of Tears flow from my eyes because my people are destroyed my eyes will flow unceasingly without relief until the Lord looks down from heaven and sees what I see brings grief to my soul because of all the women of my city those who were my enemies without cause Hunted Me Like a Bird they tried to end my life in a pit and threw stones at me the waters closed over my head and I thought I was about to perish I called On Your Name Lord from the depth of the pit you heard
my plea do not close your ears to My Cry for Relief you came near when I called you and you said do not fear you Lord took up my case you redeemed my life Lord you have seen the wrong done to me uphold my cause you have seen the depths of their Vengeance all their plots against me Lord you have heard their insults all their plots against me what my enemies whisper and mutter against me all day long look at them sitting or standing they mock me in their songs pay them back what they deserve
Lord for what their hands have done put a veil over their hearts and may your curse be on them pursue them in anger and Destroy them from under the heavens of the Lord Psalm 42 As the deer pants for streams of water so my soul pants for you my God my soul thirsts for God for the Living God where can I go and meet with God my tears have been my food day and night while people say to me all day long where is your god these things I remember as I pour out my soul
how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the mighty one with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng why my soul are you downcast why so Disturbed within me put your hope in God for I will yet Praise Him My Savior and my God my my soul is downcast within me therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan the heights of Heron from Mount mizar deep calls to deep in the Roar of your waterfalls all your waves and Breakers have swept Over Me by day
the Lord directs his love at night his song is with me a prayer to the god of my life I say to God my rock why have you forgotten me why must I go about mourning oppressed by the enemy my bones suffer mortal Agony as my foes taunt me saying to me all day long where is your god why my soul are you downcast why so Disturbed within me put your hope in God for I will yet praise him my Savior and my God Psalm 34 I will extol the Lord at all times his praise
will always be on my lips I will glory in the Lord let The Afflicted hear and rejoice glorify the Lord with me let us exalt his name together I sought the Lord and he answered me he delivered delivered me from all my fears those who look to him are radiant their faces are never covered with shame this poor man called and the Lord heard him he saved him out of all his troubles the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and he delivers them taste and see that the Lord is good blessed
is the one who takes refuge in him fear the lord you his holy people for those who fear Him lack nothing the Lions May grow weak and hungry but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing come my children listen to me I will teach you the fear of the Lord whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies turn from Evil and do good seek peace and pursue it the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears
are attentive to their cry but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil to blot out their name from the earth the righteous cry out and the Lord hears them he delivers them from all their troubles the Lord is is close to the Brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit the righteous person may have many troubles but the Lord delivers him from the more he protects all his bones not one of them will be broken evil will slay the Wicked the foes of the righteous will be condemned the Lord will
rescue his servants no one who takes Refuge in him will be condemned Isaiah chapter 61 the spirit of The Sovereign Lord is on me because the Lord has anointed me to Proclaim good news to the poor he has sent me to bind up the Brokenhearted to Proclaim freedom for the captives and release from Darkness for the prisoners to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of Vengeance of our God to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of Ashes
the oil of Joy instead of mourning and a Garment of Praise instead of a spirit of Despair they will be called Oaks of righteousness a planting of the Lord for the display of his Splendor they will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for Generations strangers will Shepherd your flocks foreigners will work your fields and Vineyards and you will be called Priests of the Lord you will be named Ministers of our God you will feed on The Wealth of Nations and in their
riches you will boast instead of your shame you will receive a double portion and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance and so you will inherit a double portion in your land and everlasting Joy will be yours for I the Lord love Justice I hate robbery and wrongdoing in my faithfulness I will reward my people and make an Everlasting Covenant with them their descendants will be known among the Nations and their offspring among the peoples all who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the Lord has blessed I Delight greatly in
the Lord my soul rejoices in my God for he has clothed me with garments of Salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest and as a bride adorns herself with her Jewels for as the soil oil makes the young plant come up and a garden causes seed to grow so The Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations
