Next step is to build a threadripper system with 512GB! ;)
Video Transcript:
I bought 128 gigabytes of RAM for my computer to run servers render large projects and other nerdy stuff that no one gives a crap about I'm going to push its usage to the Limit with the most taxing game of all time Minecraft the best and only way to truly demolish this Ram is to load insane render distances Minecraft at eight chunks of render distance this is Minecraft at 24 chunk render distance pretty solid this is Minecraft at 32 Sean Creator distance hey Mushroom Island cool pretty solid you can see pretty far here we go this
is Minecraft it 64 chunk render distance here let me get my frame times up for you casuals oh hey look a second Mushroom Island it's just right off the side cool now they're just starting to turn into pixels out there those chunks okay that is 64 chunks render distance not half bad just don't look out my friend frame times oh my God that's funny just just don't look out there oh oh oh what what okay done messing around 128 chunker under distance you can see the loaded chunks on the top left they're going now this
would help if we had a mod like chunky enabled which I want to try out in just a moment for now I just want my ryzen 9 5900x to suffer for a while for entertaining purposes you can just see the loaded chunks oh my oh my we're already at 20 000 loaded chunks for the server and only 14 000 for the client but it's coming it's coming along 103 gigs we're at 44 000 chunks loaded all my frame times are sucking oh my gosh TPS is managing 15 to the four thousand loaded chunks okay now
we're hitting pretty high mem usage there we go that's a that's a good dump that sounds wrong I fear for my life right now what's gonna happen if I look up well I'm gonna do it oh look at that RAM usage oh can we hit a hundred no we're gonna crash oh we did it 102 oh oh 105 gigs we're gonna crash here aren't we crash no don't crash oh we crashed I guessed it I totally guessed it finally I've loaded a ton of chunks just a ton so now let's hit 229 chunks let's see
how this goes you can just see out here just these chunks just a small pixel of these chunks loading all the way out here oh boy that's funny oh wait a second I just realized something chunk sections rendered only thirty thousand oh my gosh wait that means that our chunkage is out there oh I don't even know if this is gonna render within a reasonable amount of time so far we've rendered a hundred and fifty thousand chunks so this this looks good but what happens if we turn foreign it's just not there but of course
we can see the line where everything rendered we can actually see where we were looking that is the whoa whoa slideshow that is the extent of our viewing distance but we can actually see out there there's the fog oh there's fog that is the distance oh there's even a badlands out here well it's time to spend another two or three hours rendering another section so let me just line up here and for those wondering I do have a ton of performance mods enabled it's not like this is vanilla Minecraft this is actually pretty well optimized
oh yeah the slideshow is getting even better it's oh my it's coming it's coming along we're still missing the floor on this section and over here yeah yeah yeah [Music] so many chunks oh so many chunks anyways I'm gonna continue to let this PC suffer [Music] so Minecraft crashed well we did our best boys I don't think I want to let these chunks render out again I sat here for many many hours yeah we got some screenshot I'm gonna overlay some screenshots but that's what we can do approximately with a decent amount of ram so
we're actually not using anywhere near 128 gigs of RAM that's because we're not actually loading these chunks just from scratch we're loading them from read-only memory and the issue is our game turns into a slideshow which it runs off of one thread so it hinders how fast the chunks can actually render that's unfortunate look at that biome all the way out there whoa instead of giving all of my Ram to one Minecraft client I bought five Minecraft accounts and played them at the same time you should watch this video next if you want some more
entertainment
