Brighton have confirmed one of the signings of this or any other transfer window an Su fatty the 20-year-old star from Barcelona is arriving on a season long loan the deal is done on September 1st 2023 Anu Fati joined Brighton in a part to revive his career but let's just say it went quite differently than he probably would have hoped leaving Barcelona with a very difficult situation on their hands and Anu with an even worse one at one point ansum manif Fati was the gem in the crown of FC Barcelona the heir to Messi's Throne the
goal scorer the team desperately needed when they were at their lowest at 17 years old Anu turned out on the biggest of stages to save the club in several games during the 1920 season that year the club had lonel Messi anwan Griezmann Louis Suarez and Usman demele bolstering the attack and yet this kid was the special one he was bold ambitious and decisive in a way this team so desperately needed yet could not find else where however the joy that he brought to the side was always shortlived as you mentioned Anu fatty out for 4
months this is just this is gting obviously for Barcelona fans but for just fans of football whove just enjoyed watching him grow this season injuries have plagued this kid's history over and over again throughout his time at Barcelona and in lamaa each time he came back firing but it slowed down as the injuries began piling up and that was his story of Barcelona going into summer 202 3 he had just come off his healthiest season ever and yet he had fallen out of favor under Chavi and so the side was looking for a lone move
he just wasn't the same decisive and confident player that he once was so they all thought it best to send him away and this is where his move to Brighton came in this was supposed to be his chance to revive his career away from the camp new bring back that confidence that had once made him the best young player in the world and honestly I think a lot of people thought it was going to work the Brighton manager at the time Roberto deseri praised onu prior to his joining and hoped that he could be a
spark to bring that club to an even higher height than they had seen before and that must have been the thought process of the Brighton board as well they are a club that is not known for spending a lot of money on bigname players instead opting to choose to invest in young players from across the world bring them and grow them in the Premier League and then sell them for a big profit but with anati it was very different they were taking a big risk accepting to pay 75% of his around 12 million EUR perear
salary immediately making him the highest earning player at the club double the next highest earner they likely believed just like many koues myself included that they could bring the best out of anuti give him that confidence that he once had to shoot from the wildest of ranges and score goals for his side and honestly in his first few weeks at Brighton it probably looked like he could do that throughout the first few months of that year and remember he didn't get any preseason time with the squad due to his late move in September onto appeared
in all but one of Brighton's matches making a solid impact on the side and leaving fans hopeful for the future through the end of November of last year Anu scored four goals assisted another across all competitions for a goal contribution rate per 90 minutes played of 0.79 that's a fine return for any forward let alone a new player in a new system in a mid-table team in the premier League however just have a guess about what happened next ding- dingding he got injured again this was absolutely heartbreaking for him this move was supposed to be
the one to revive his career give him an opportunity away from all the Catalin pressure away from the camp no but yet his body kind of gave up on him again Brighton were not over playing in fact I would argue they weren't really using him enough and so there weren't any EXC exuses for this injury but whatever he was going to have to find a way to come back and get his body healthy as soon as possible because his team needed him Brighton were not having their best time of it in the Prem this season
while he was away now I'm not saying that the team struggled because Anu is out but it's just a fact that the team was not playing at the level they had the year prior instead of hovering around the European spots Brighton were now in the middle of the table and hey that's not terrible for a side that operates in the way they do but after signing up a player like Anu on insane wages relative to their entire team well it seems like maybe they were interested in pushing that bar a little bit further and yet
they were falling backward all is this to say is that the door was probably open if he were able to come back from injury and shine give that team a spark to push them forward bring them a few spots up the table and threaten the European spots yet again and on February 2nd he had his chance Anu finally came back from after missing 14 matches for the club however it was not the reunion anyone hoped for Anu would only start one game for the remainder of the Season only ever being used for brief cameos as
a sub and never really getting a great opportunity Roberto Des Zerby tried to give him minutes a little bit immediately after the injury but every time I watched the match it just seemed like he had trouble getting into the game even when he was on the pitch he was never the key player on the ball rarely the key guy in the Box floating somewhere between a center forward attacking midfielder and left Winger I don't think it's all anu's fault here though as joal Pedro had really made an name for himself as a center forward attacking
midfielder in the side and the rest of der's forward line was pretty equally stacked as well no matter how Anu performed he was not set up correctly to succeed after this injury with so much competition going on and him never really proving that he deserved deserve to spot more so than all these other guys especially with the team struggling with them struggling he couldn't experiment with the side now maybe they tried to figure something out for him in training and he hadn't proved his worth enough there but anati didn't stand out in a side of
a bunch of other prospects and that's the biggest takeaway from this if anything he might have been average at Best in a team that finished 11th in the Premier League that was far from what he had done for Barcelona and what probably anyone expected of him that year after Brighton's last 16 loss to Roma on March 14th anuti played a total of 41 minutes for the English Club for the remainder of the Year those were 10 matches by the way where Anu was left out of the playing time for six of them and those were
the most important matches of the Season Derby needed to take the players that he trusted to give him results and that blatantly showed he did not trust anuti at all that is where the coach goes to the guys that will get results instead of the experiment he hopes to figure out so now anati is returning to Barcelona having achieved very little of what he probably hoped to do returning to a Barcelona side that is more in need of money than the vast majority of other clubs in Europe as of recording this FC Barcelona is incredibly
close to meeting the onetoone financial transfer requirement imposed by La Liga meaning that if they sell a player for €30 million they have €30 million to spend instead of right now where if they sell a player for 30 million they can only sell or buy a player for like 15 million that means that right now as it is selling players to buy others isn't very viable because you'll only get to use a small percentage of that income to actually purchase a player so why get rid of someone if you can only get someone half as
good so it's worth saying they're not there yet but everything is pointing to them being able to get there soon with even Javier tbas coming out today saying positive things about the club for the first time in his life which means that the club might be looking to scrouge up some money to make bigname signings think Nico Williams Mikel Marino Martin zubba Mandy maybe and all these signings are are going to come at the expense of guys that don't have a certain place in the squad Orel Romeo enigo Martinez maybe ROK and maybe anati on
top of all of that being an academy player any sale that the team makes of one will be considered pure profit so if they can sell him for 30 25 million even well that could be really helpful if you can turn that money into a defensive midfielder let's say assuming the club reaches that one toone threshold however that may very well prove to be the wrong decision anati could very well be used by HTI flick in a similar role to Thomas Muller in his Byron side that won everything but as excited as I want to
be about that idea about hansi using him the fact is that that is just more speculation speculation like we like Brighton and FC Barcelona have been doing about Anu Fati since 2021 he hasn't been the same since that first comeback and it gets even harder to speculate on him when you consider how high his wages are Anu signed a big cont contract extension with the club in 2021 that would last until July of 2027 where he would earn in the neighborhood of4 million per year if you slide him into the squad right now he will
be the third or fourth highest earner behind levandowski gundan and Frankie De Young that's insane for a player who we are not sure will even fit or perform at all especially when we need the wage space for potential incoming players everyone loves to talk about how Nico Williams is on insane wages at athletic clube of €200,000 a week anati is making 25% more than that sitting on the bench on those wages with this much confusion it makes it hard to think he should stay at all but because of what he meant to us it's hard
to say we should let him go as well I vividly remember where the team was struggling to score with Messi Suarez and Griezmann all running 5 mes hour around the Box doing nothing until anuti came in and drove at a guy he had no right dribbling at and scored and saved the game that's what anati gave us in a time where we were so low and he deserves so much credit for that and that's why so many koolay will defend him and we'll want him to stay no matter what so because of all of those
memories I have for him I I really don't know what we should do it makes a lot of sense to probably sell him this year clean our hands with him say goodbye say thank you but it's an expensive investment that Barcelona would probably be better off spending elsewhere now let me know what you think should anati stay at Barcelona or should he go now on a little bit more of a positive note I teamed up with a designer named COA float to come at you guys with another drop to show off our lamaa boys from
