the prophet Ezekiel addresses throughout the book in 597 BC Nebuchadnezzar II responded to judah's Rebellion by besieging Jerusalem King Je hoaka of Judah surrendered and Nebuchadnezzar deported him along with many of the Kingdom's Elites including priests Craftsmen and warriors to Babylon Ezekiel a young priest from a prominent family was among these Exiles despite the initial Conquest Judah continued to struggle under Babylonian control eventually leading to a second rebellion in response Nebuchadnezzar besieged Jerusalem again in 5875 586 BC resulting in the city's fall and the destruction of Solomon's Temple this event marked a significant turning point
