Hey guys it's the holidays and uh because we don't have another stream for let's couple weeks i think now we just finished with some we're going to take this time and rebuild our tech world here rebuild our studio and just get rid of this wall all right and like make some more space and and clean up cables and like completely redesign what This place looks like so uh stay tuned for that uh we're gonna document share as much of it as possible um and so we're gonna start by completely ripping every single cable computer monitor and uh and device out of here and just relay it out start from scratch hope you enjoy [Music] all right got some boxes 4k ultra studio mini 4k so we got a third One of these now 90 watt uh sateshi sateki i don't know how to say it charger this is really just for our 15-inch macbook pros um ah okay these are the anker usb hubs i think there's only six ports on these guys this guy will power all of the red uh decimator minis that we have hdmi cables c force not c charge c4s these are Very thin and light and portable 15-inch monitors with a full-size hdmi um i think they're like the 170 dollar range they're expensive for kind of what they are these are the same that are in the portable raft yes these are the exact same monitors they're an affordable rack but this is different i bought the same one that i had always bought um but this has like a Nice cover to it yep just kind of glued on the back there i don't need these covers old one new one hdmi for signal as well as usb c for power and signal but that's nice kind of like that still have a headphone jack probably a menu button so this stuff here is awesome and it sticks really well to wood Plastic things like that it's very strong it like clicks into position not like velcro where it just you know sticks it clicks uh and then it holds a lot of weight says it holds 10 pounds i just put a slab on the back because they're super super light like 0.25 pounds maybe this guy here and i kind of line them up and then kind of click it in and that's It all of this is actually just going to go behind so that's the really cool thing about uh this table that we did here is um there's just this gap and there's kind of a false wall so that we can kind of have a rat's nest and a bunch of cables and and dongles and decimators all back here uh and you're not gonna see it from the front so i've wired about Half of our zoom drones here um and i'm just to explain exactly what it is that i'm doing and how i'm routing all this signal so first thing i do is i take an sdi cable this one's six feet and i need to run it from a decimator that will be for this laptop and i'm going to route it into the switcher and i i already have them all mapped out exactly where i want them to go so this one I'm going to map to input 11 on the switcher i use my sdi screwdriver which is super helpful if you don't have one of these you definitely need one sdi screwdriver you can get them on amazon okay and i'm going to slot this into number 11. so now that that's in there i can now plug this sdi cable into the output of my red decimator all right so now that's outputting So now i need to route uh a signal into the decimator and then i need to loop that signal out the hdmi and plug it into the monitor so uh this is going to represent sdi hdmi input okay so this will get plugged into my dongle here this is my dongle this will be the computer this is what sends signal and then i'm going to route the signal or loop the signal through the decimator and up into this Monitor all right once i have all this plugged in i don't need it anymore i don't care about it i can kind of put it down here in the rat's nest and then plug this guy in up here one more thing i want to do is route ethernet to it to the internet so i've two sets of network switches i have an i have a whole array of network switches That is plugged into the atem that's my local network and then i have a network switch that's plugged into the router at our office and that's the internet and the only thing really plugged into the internet is all these zoom drones everything else is just on wi-fi i'm not streaming using it and i should say that obviously my streaming computers and my encoders are plugged in To the internet um but for sources coming in just the zoom drone so now that this guy is good to go i can take some i'm going to call this velcro i don't really know what to call it but industrial velcro i'll call it and place it so that'll reach there that'll reach there and go ahead and test this guy make sure that he does work okay plugged in there See it's loading recognizes that the monitor is plugged in which is good and i have signal going up there and if i look over here on my multiview i have signal and zoom five as well so this is zoom five you can see it's this one here all right so people see you know all this cable down here and this or okay what cable do you use what is it is there a meaning to the color um it's sdi Uh this you can use 3g 6g again if we're pulling from these we're probably not pulling more than 1080 so 3g is okay if you want to go that way we like 6g that's us um that just means we can do like 4k and things like that if you want to do 8k the way that works is you actually need four of these cables uh all working in unison and then that gets sent into the Switcher all four cables and then it combines them so but if you're just trying to do 4k then you can use a 6g cable now be fine 3g is cheaper okay all the zoom drones are wired now and we are going to go ahead and get audio to all of them and get some a10 minis and some web presenters in here to do our zoom or uh microsoft team Return feed so that's next audio and video inputs [Music] and we're done this is our new tech world studio for all of our virtual events so let me give you a quick tour we'll go start over here on the switcher we did change it up a bit all right we now have six stream deck xls all right and that Is because we found that we used our super sources and macros and companion almost more than we use the actual cut bus on the switcher but we didn't want to get rid of it because it is a standard and it's very nice to have especially when you're doing things live so that's why the stream decks are now actually in the middle because they get used More the advanced panel is here on the side because it's still super useful and you honestly don't need to look at it to use it which is why it's always on the right use your right hand to hit the cut bus all right switcher laptop is here and notice nothing's really in front of it we found that we wanted to be able to get to it during live shows more often and having all the stream Decks in front of it made it hard to reach over so that is that to the left of the switcher is now the scopes and records which are in a much more useful space to look at as well as the recorders are nice and elevated and we can monitor the records not that that was an issue before but now it's just a little easier to see them and we're not guessing is it still Recording is it not things like that so the switchers here i'm not going to go through how it works i will touch on the multi-view though which is we relayed it out a little bit bigger boxes on the bottom for things that we want to be able to see us the super sources we use a lot so they're nice and big uh the video wall uh emmy which is emmy number three for us we put down here we don't always use it For our live streams but we can put whatever we want into these preview and program sources very easily so these become like very fast reprogrammable boxes for our multi-view and then we have some of our outputs and keys over here up top is really where all of our sources come in and that's a big change so now we have zoom because zoom is on this side so we have zoom on the right we have all of our cameras and basically This side is like all people right so cameras zoom drones virtual people things like that as well as graphics happens to be here as well over here we have playback and and kind of our media players and and extra little things like that so the biggest thing over here is our playback timers this is so key all right so a lot of times in the show we're saying How much time is left how much time is left or like we're getting close to the wire or something like that and people are getting hesitant they're they're just waiting around having the times up here for everyone to see is super helpful so that everyone knows okay i have two minutes i can do this thing i can take a look at this i can go look at the run of show so and it just means there's less talking about how Much time is left and more just doing so that is why the times are there uh and then we have our playbacks directly next to it um and then we have just some extra things here confidence monitor outputs director laptop and the dj's laptop and then a clock that's another big thing we wanted a clock just kind of everywhere which we didn't have at the last space so this is really just a laptop Outputting a clock and it has some cool software on it that lets it be a clock or a timer okay so that's the multi-view there uh now we get into zoom world okay so over here we have all of our zoom drones so uh down here is audio and the audio guy usually is the one managing all of our zoomed drones that's its change from how we used to have it the audio was very separate From all of the zoom drones and it made it difficult the switcher guy had to uh go and manage zoom people a lot versus the audio guy and the audio guy was just kind of there with his hand on the fader kind of just waiting for for cues so this makes a lot more sense laid out this way and the coolest thing is is that all of these are networked together so i should even have the atem software Down here see if it connects and it does so the audio guy can actually help with the switcher as well whether that's building a look fixing a graphic prepping a source anything like that the audio guy can do plus you can actually just go into the audio controls of the switcher and monitor any ins and outs that are needed there so That is super cool um zoom drones we don't really need to get into it but instead of doing two displays off of every laptop we're still doing that and have that capability but we're moving to be able to just do one display off of every laptop and have space for all eight and there are eight laptops up here if we wanna go back to our other approach whereas one laptop had two Outputs for things like zoom which are capable all we do is we remove the laptops in the middle here and just take the cable and plug it in to the one in front of it and now we go right back to our older setup which allows us to then take these laptops on the road use them for other things and whatnot other thing i should mention Is the audio guy is in control of the speaker timer for the talent that is here that is a timer that is a clock that is in our studio and then all the way over here there is another timer i'll pull it up here so there's another timer up here and that is the clock okay so that runs the clock that's running into the switcher it can be switched to a timer and the audio guy can touch that or the Graphics guy that's a great transition into our graphics station on the left here we have h2r graphics it is a great utility software we do not use it for everything we actually don't use it that often but in a pinch it is great so that's why i have it there at the ready i need to throw up a clock an overlay a lower third a logo like any of those things even Now to scoreboards in case you didn't know that so i think we're excited to use it in those ways and just have it there at the ready when needed we love having our backups then we have our graphics one and two over here so we have powerpoints that usually run on these guys but they can be used for anything if i need to pull up a website and show that Website in a live stream i can do that from graphics one and two again two of them because we have backups and we can switch between them and finally over here we have our two propresenter laptops with our two 4k studio ultra minis so or ultra studio 4k minis however you want to say it two pro presenter laptops each one has their own uh program or not program their own Output uh as well as a timer over here i talked a little bit about the multi-view the reason we split up graphics and playback on two different multi-views is the way graphic station is laid out okay so we have the timers and playbacks over here over propresenter and then we have the graphics one and graphics two over here by the graphic computers that Is the sole reason we move them to different multi-views it's just so when you look over here it's laid out a little more intuitive okay so this is pro presenter and it runs uh all of our videos uh overlays if we want to do timers or logos we can do that on it too it is super super powerful lower thirds are huge on it meaning we can change them pretty Rapidly when needed so we do like using proprietors and it's simple right it's you click it and it works you don't have to like take it just for the pro presenter the switcher the technical director he should be cutting and taking and things like that so it's just one click and it works finally all the way on the end here we do have our little live streaming station with a backup program record so all of Our recorders are recording over by our scopes but this is a backup program record and this is just a little streaming station we usually have more than one computer here you've seen it in the past um but for right now we're just having one laptop with our output stream and technically the a10 mini and the computer are backups for each other we do use the a10 mini pro As an encoder it does do hd output for streaming which is great and of course obs does as well touching on that a10 mini pro is a great way i want to circle back to our zoom world because hiding behind a lot of our zoomed drones here are a10 minis okay and we decided to mount them it's one of the ways we made this look Uh very clean was uh it's just velcro okay that's all this is it's just velcroed on here and it's getting a feed from the switcher okay and then we can push that feed into here so now all of these laptops could be used as streaming computers okay they could be used to send different feeds to the exact same call so if we want to send in to a zoom call A program feed a teleprompter a preview and a multi-view okay that's four different inputs we can set all of that in here so that is a wrap on our studio here i hope
