below so you don't miss a single new video reason number one you don't study English enough maybe you're the type of person who already consumes a lot of English every day maybe you watch a lot of movies in English listen to podcasts watch TV series read books read blogs articles in English that's great but are you also combining that consumption with active intentional study time it is really important for you to set aside some hours in your week for you to sit down and actually study the language for example you can open a grammar book
and review some grammar topics that you struggle with the most or you can try to have classes with a private teacher and try to really understand the language better what about making a list of words and vocabulary you are trying to memorize and creating sentences with them you see all of this is about studying with intention so if you're not studying with intention yet this might be one reason why you don't feel very confident when you have to produce or speak the language so what I recommend is devote some hours in a week to actually
study the language not just consume English passively reason number two you don't consume enough English maybe you're the opposite type of learner maybe you already study in a formal way maybe you have a grammar book that you open every week and you do some exercises with it or maybe you write vocabulary you are trying to learn and memorize maybe you even have private classes with a teacher or you are part of a conversation group or maybe you even go to a language school close to your home to take formal classes there maybe once a week
or twice a week that's great so you already study formally but are you also consuming content in English outside of those class hours this is really important because if you only depend on studying alone if you only depend on that class you have your teacher once a week or twice a week it's not going to be enough you need to be consuming content in English media in English every single day about topics that you like but make sure you are in Conta with the language as much as you can you need a lot of input
the more input you have the easier it will be for you to start producing language and the output or the speaking will come more easily reason number three you have unrealistic expectations about you're speaking let me explain maybe you are already a very successful professional in your area in your native language maybe you are a successful lawyer or an engineer or a data science whatever it is in your native language and in your native country maybe you communicate extremely well in your first language and then when you try to speak English you want to communicate
at the same high level with the same level of sophistication you do in your first language but in English and then when you feel like you can't do it you get frustrated with yourself so make sure you have realistic expectations about your speaking in English it's okay to speak in a simpler way remember you are learning the language but if you keep practicing and if you keep studying with time you will start to communicate as accurately as high level as you communicate in your first language but be patient with yourself and be realistic by the
way this is exactly the reason why I created this channel to help Learners like you become more sophisticated communicators of English but remember it's a process make sure you subscribe to the channel keep following the videos I'll be posting here because I'm sure that if you follow my tips here you will get to the high level of confidence and sophistication when you speak English reason number four you don't practice speaking enough think about it if you want to get really good at one skill you need to practice that skill a lot think about driving learning
a martial art learning to play guitar or any other skill you need hours and hours of practice so if you don't have enough speaking practice it's going to be really hard for you to feel confident in your speaking when you have to have a conversation with a person in real life so what can you do about it how can you have more speaking practice well one thing you can do is you can look for groups online about topics that you are interested in you can look for Facebook groups communities Discord groups if you are a
gamer for example you can join online communities of people who get together to play a certain video game so you can play with them and also talk to them the possibilities are endless especially with the internet nowadays also maybe hiring a private teacher or joining a formal course might be a great opportunity for you to have more speaking practice in your week and remember you can always practice your speaking Alone by yourself I know it sounds kind of crazy but guys it works I used to do that all the time I can't tell you how
many hours I spend talking to myself in English you know as I'm cooking doing the dishes or going to work or taking the bus I'm talking to myself in my mind and also out loud to practice the speech aspect of English so don't underestimate the power that practi practicing your speaking alone can have reason number five you're afraid of speaking in public maybe you are a shy person and you feel uncomfortable with social situations or maybe if you have to give a presentation to a group of people you panic and freeze up if this is
you maybe this is something that you have to work on yourself think about it as personal development think to yourself how can I feel more comfortable in social situations how can I improve my speech my presentation skills I can try to form a speaking group with friends or even with a teacher that you know and why not taking Prof classes or theater classes these are some of the things that can help you feel more comfortable and confident in social situations reason number six you don't communicate very well in your native language that can be a
factor guys ask yourself am I a great communicator in my native language what do I mean by being a good or even Great Communicator in your native language well think about your vocal placement where do you place your voice for better Clarity and better projection speaking of projection are you able to properly project your voice so people can understand you easily what about your pace the pace is the speed with which you speak do you tend to speak too fast too slow what is the pace with which you speak what about body language the gestures
do you use those when you communicate what about pauses do you use strategic pauses n speech so that your ideas your communication can be even more impactful do you know which words are chunks of words to emphasize so you can really be emphatic in our communication finally what about your enunciation and articulation skills do you articulate the words well even in your first language or are you more of a mumbler a mumbler is a person who mumbles when you Mumble you don't move your mouth so much so the sounds don't come out so clearly so
for example right now this is an example of mumbling I'm speaking to you now and I hope that you can understand me but now I'm not articulating as much as I could and this is more of a mumbling type of speech it's not so clear and it's not so impactful so think about it guys are you intentional with your communication even in your first language so if you struggle with any of these points that I just mentioned about the voice and communication make sure you develop your communication skills more even in your first language if
you become a better better Communicator in your first language chances are you will start to communicate more clearly and more confidently in English as well and now I have a bonus reason to give you why you can understand English but can't speak it as fluently or confidently yet the reason is you are not patient enough I know this can hurt guys but that's the truth learning a language learning to speak a second or third language is a process that takes time it's a mid to to long-term process it doesn't happen overnight and you know what
the speaking ability is usually the last skill that tends to come that tends to fully develop at least that's how it worked for me I remember that when I was learning English I started by reading some simple texts writing some simple sentences and then I started to read more and feel more comfortable with reading then with writing then I started to watch movies and TV series in English and I started to understand more more of what I was consuming but when I tried to speak I felt like my speaking wasn't at the same level as
the other abilities yet my speaking skills my speaking abilities came much much later it was the last skill that got fully developed and to be honest with you I'm still developing my speaking skills to this day so be patient keep enjoying the process studying consuming content in English working on your communication as a whole and trust that with time your speaking will become better and better but now I want to hear from you what are your thoughts about these reasons I listed in this video share your ideas your thoughts here in the comment section below
