one sad reality about the world that we live in is that life is unfair at times people lose loved ones people get horribly sick people get murdered raped abused molested and maimed and if you look at all the shootings the wars the poverty the political corruption and all the death around the world one can ask the question if there really is a God why doesn't he do something about all of this so in today's video we'll be answering the tough question why do bad things happen if there's such a loving God now before I move
forward in this question I need you to understand that there's two ways to answer this question there's the logical way and then they're speaking to the hearts you see let's say if someone clicked on this video because someone they loved died if this were the case their heart would be weighed down and broken and if they click this video only getting a summation of arguments with premises and conclusions on evil good god and suffering this video wouldn't help if anything this video could be seen as insensitive because there are real people out there with real
problems however there are also people who look at all the news and all the crazy things that are happening and ask questions like why do all these bad things happen and how could God allow this for these people they aren't looking for any sentiments they're looking for answers and sometimes when you're looking for answers you don't care about all the emotional responses you just want good arguments so moving forward it's important to give valid arguments to people who mentally struggle with this issue and at the same time it's important to be sensitive because there are
those who may have lost a loved one or is going through a hard time we must speak to both the questioning mind and the hurting heart we will address both in this video and we will begin with the head so the question is why do you bad things happen if there's such a loving God now let's assume for a moment that there wasn't a God let's say that humans were not created and that we all slowly evolved over the process of millions of years during these millions of years animals that were more fit would have
a higher chance of survival against predators and obstacles nature gives this is known as survival of the fittest the fitt survive and they reproduce while the weak get eaten or die if the world we live in was purely biological then survival of the fittest would be the main law of the land we as humans would only be here on earth due to pure chance we evolved populated the world and will one day die just like everything else it's not bad to die it's just what happens now let's look back at the question why do bad
things happen if there's such a loving God this question would assume that bad things happen I mean think about it if there was no God we would just be advanced animals roaming the land and when you see a lion eating a gazelle the lion didn't murder the gazelle the lion killed and ate to survive and when you see a shark forcibly copulate with another shark it didn't rape the shark it just made it to reproduce humans would be no different from animals you see there's a lot of Christianity critics that say look at all the
poverty look at all the poor children who die look at the millions of deaths and to them I'd say if there was no God those deaths wouldn't be wrong because under their worldview the weak die and the strong live on people dying couldn't be called wrong or bad it would just be nature let's look at the word bad for just a moment if you think about it we can't understand the word bad unless there was something good for example poverty is bad murder is wrong and discrimination is wrong yes these things are wrong but the
reason why we know that these are wrong is because in our minds we know that they're supposed to be justice when we see all these shootings on TV why do we really think it's wrong maybe it's because we believe that people shouldn't be killing each other and when we see people discriminate and shoot people badly just because of the color of their skin or their religion we know that all people should be treated fairly and equally you see for every wrong thing deep down we know that there should be something that's right so to understand
bad you need good but that's not enough sure you have good and bad but now you need a standard or some law to tell you what's good and what's bad if we don't have a standard to tell us what's right and what's wrong people could do whatever they want I can't just go up to some random person and slap them in the face and I can't just dump a bunch of garbage at a National State Park and I can't torture babies for fun these would all be wrong so the question that I'm asking is how
do you know that all of these are wrong there has to be some moral standard humans live by because for some reason people have this desire to protect and to preserve life and well-being for the question why do you bad things happen if there's such a loving God my argument is this bad things cannot make sense aside from good things in order to distinguish whether a thing is good or bad you need some moral law or standard and in order to have this moral law you need someone capable of giving us these moral laws or
a moral lawgiver why because morals cannot emerge from only a biological world if we were only biological the only real law would be survival of the fittest so if people die it's not wrong it's just nature running its course all this to say why do bad things happen if there's such a loving God my response would be bad things can't be bad unless there's a God because without God survival of the fittest would be the only law and people would be free to do whatever they pleased to ensure their own well-being so there's one argument
for the head now let's talk to the heart so let's assume then that there is a God and that the God we're talking about is the God of the Bible if God is so loving like scriptures describe him why would he allow bad things to happen first off it wasn't God's intention to have a world full of death and corruption when God first created the world it was described as being perfect and without any death he created the Sun Moon and stars land and sea animals and people and God gave man the ability to make
choices this is also something that God says is good you see if God wanted to he could end all the bad things on earth he could hypothetically create a state in which it would be impossible for anyone to do anything wrong however if God did this people wouldn't have any freedom they would be forced into doing what's right this forced life in God's eyes isn't good you see God is a God of love and he wants to establish a genuine loving relationship with people and in order for love to be genuine there has to be
a choice so here's the picture God created a good world with people who were given a good thing called freedom but in order for freedom to truly be free people need to be given the choice to be obedient to God or to disobey his commands and one reason why our current world is full of death and suffering isn't because God wanted it but because it was caused by people and their will to do what is wrong however the Bible says that there will be a day when God won't put up with these evil acts anymore
and that he will come back to judge the wrongdoers and to set up his kingdom where his people can live without any fear of death or suffering now that we have that established let's go deeper and address another reason why God allows bad people to do bad things people murder abuse and hurt others when we see the news of all the terrorism the shootings and the corruption in the world we normally hate the people responsible and while we do want justice God still wants these corrupt people to go to heaven Romans 5:8 reads but God
demonstrates his own love toward us and that while we were still sinners Christ died for us you see while this world is full of killers and people who committed heinous crimes God still has a heart to save them this point is further illustrated in Ezekiel 33 11 say to them as I live says the Lord God I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from his way and live turn turn from your evil ways for why should you die o house of Israel according to the Bible when someone
dies they either go to heaven or they go to hell there is no middle ground and people aren't able to switch locations when someone dies they enter into what's called the eternal state meaning they will forever dwell in heaven or they will forever dwell in eternal torment full of Darkness flames and never-ending agony God knows that once people die people are locked in their choice of heaven or hell we at times want to give judgment to murderers and thieves and criminals but we must remember that God still has a heart for them 2nd Peter 3:9
reads the Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some count slackness but is long-suffering toward us not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance all this to say one reason why God allows bad people to do bad things is because he's patient and wants to give them time to turn from their sin because as soon as they die in their sin they are locked into a fate of everlasting torment next what about all the bad things that happen like sickness or lost loved ones or suffering now this is probably
the hardest thing to touch on in this video because bad things happen and I can't necessarily relate to every hardship however when it comes to the subject of suffering let me start with Romans 5 verses 2 to 4 and we boast in the hope of the glory of God not only so but we also glory in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance perseverance character and character hope now while I can't give an exact explanation on why people suffer what I can say is that suffering produces perseverance and this perserverence is able to
produce character you see one reason why God allows us to suffer is because it deepens our character and allows us to be able to relate to others in their hardship there was this one story that I heard when a Bible teacher spoke at a funeral for someone's daughter who passed away and while the teacher was talking to the dad whose daughter passed away the teacher said I understand how you feel and the dad replied you had a child who passed away too and the teacher said no and the dad quickly said then don't you dare
say how you understand how I feel the teacher later in their life experienced to death much like the funeral they went to previously and they suddenly felt horrible because they didn't understand that dad's pain until then you see the specific suffering in our life allows us to do one thing when we talk to others that are hurting and that's the ability to say me too there have been many times in my personal life where I was either depressed or experienced loss and the one thing that probably helped me out the most is when my friends
and teachers looked at me with compassion and told me I'm so sorry I know it hurts now but things will get better I've walked down that road before and it's heartbreaking but we can get through this together now can you imagine life if everything was perfect imagine if you always had enough money always had people loved you always got what you wanted and everything worked out if life was perfect do you think you could truly appreciate all that you had or do you think that maybe God allows bad things to happen to get us to
appreciate life in a deeper way one of my teachers told me a story about how he was counseling someone and this individual started complaining on how his mom was always in his business to the point where his mom got bothersome after this went on for a few minutes my teacher had to stop him and say hey I get it but you need to appreciate what you have because I give anything to have my mom get into my business you see I'd say that normally people can find it annoying when their mom is nosy and invades
their privacy but for the individual who lost their mom they have a greater and deeper appreciation for moms someone who got laid off probably has a greater appreciation for their job and money someone who grew up lonely probably has a greater appreciation for company someone who struggled through school probably has a greater appreciation for Abby on their assignment someone who is sick or experienced sickness probably has a greater appreciation for their health and for the person who lost a loved one probably has grown to have a greater appreciation for the loved ones who are still
alive in their life now I'm not saying that it's good whenever bad things happen because it allows us to be relatable and appreciate things in a deeper way no suffering is horrible at the time but it's something you get through and it's something you grow through Romans 8:28 says and we know that all things work together for good to those who love God and to those who were called according to his purpose this verse doesn't say you'll get all the answers on why things happen and one of the hardest things about suffering is asking why
why did this happen why would God allow this and at this time you must remember that you can't see the full picture of your life oftentimes when we suffer we focus on where we are and how we hate where we are but this verse says all things work together for good to those who love God when it comes to suffering you must picture where you are and where God is trying to bring you because at the end of the day if you're one of God's kids God has a plan for your life and the bad
things that happen God allows to happen for a reason that you don't know about yet look back at Genesis 37 with Joseph Joseph was a young boy who was sold into slavery by his own family at age 17 he was rejected and hated by the people he loved and it's believed that Joseph was a slave for about ten years and then was falsely accused by his master's wife this accusation led him to be wrongly imprisoned for about two years or more and Joseph wasn't let out until age thirty where he became one of the leading
rulers of Egypt all this to say that for thirteen years Joseph was either working as a slave in a culture that was completely foreign to him and away from his home or sitting in prison wasting time alone asking the question God where are you however because of Joseph's life Egypt and Joseph family was saved from the famine we read at the end of Genesis notice Joseph's words in Genesis 50 verse 20 when he's talking to his brothers who betrayed him but as for you you meant evil against me but God meant it for good in
order to bring it about as it is this day to save many people alive lastly I want to close with this while we all want to be happy here on earth we want to be loved to have a family to have enough money if you're a Christian please remember that this place is not your home heaven is your home and Jesus didn't die on the cross so that you can have a happy and comfortable life here on earth Jesus died so that you can have eternal life in heaven and to one day live without the
fear of death and sorrow this life can be cruel but it is short one to endure and one to appreciate while we live it to help and to relate to others while we can and to be reminded that while bad things happen there's still a God who loves us because while it hurts now he has a bigger future for you in mind Romans 8:18 for I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us to the one who is currently going through
a hard time Jesus knows exactly where you are and he loves you keep going and endure god bless [Music] you
