so what are the habits that make the top 1% students the top 1% well I've been a dental student for almost 3 years now and as I progress through this course I see that the people around me are getting smarter and smarter even a lot smarter than I am and I noticed that many of my classmates are much more competent than those I've seen during my freshman year I've not only observed them but I've also observed the top students from around the world to see what habits that they always have to keep them at the
top Now spoiler alert it's not some fancy schmancy Secret recipe I always thought that top students were a different breed but once I started practicing these habits during High School I quickly became a straight A student here is my grades to prove it so here are the habits that separate the top 1% students from the rest so the first habit is more of a work ethic rather than a habit but top students have a whole other league when it comes to studying work ethic unfortunately it's that simple sure you can have all the reasons for
having a better efficient study method or doing XYZ routine in the morning but the bottom line is that top students have a crazy work ethic normal students would probably go home after class relax for the day and maybe study for a bit or two but not top students they're probably studing the material right after class reviewing what they learned and usually coming home to study even more to engrave that information into their heads judging from the content that I see nowadays from study YouTubers it seems like everyone just wants a shortcut to being a top
student yes I'm also guilty of this I admit but the thing is life doesn't work that easily there are no shortcuts to everything yes there are ways to do things more efficiently but it all doesn't matter if you don't have the drive to push yourself every day I've met so many people who are naturally talented but they didn't push themselves I literally have a classmate who was bottom of his class but had insane endurance and now that our batch is literally cut in half 3 years later he's still among the remaining few the bottom line
is that having a strong drive and endurance is one of the main driving forces to becoming a really successful student you'll have to understand that you will not enjoy the process most of the time learning that and just sticking your head down and doing the work is what will get you ahead in your academic life you will not get ahead by being proactive for the first week into your entire semester you'll only get ahead if you're proactive your entire semester but the cool thing is you don't have to start strong right away just make sure
you're consistent throughout your semester the second habit I have is a very practical tip and it's the mindset of having your assignments come and go at the end of the day the thing about assignments is that they will take a chunk of your time no matter when you do it what matters is when you'll do it so in order to really lighten your workload make sure that as soon as you get your assignment try to finish your assignment as soon as you can perhaps on the same day as well for example these days whenever I
finish classes I try to finish all the studying and assignments right after I don't immediately go home I always head to a workspace to finish all the work that I have and it's perfectly fine if I don't end up finishing my work what matters is usually after class since I'm still in the flow of doing work I try my best to finish it and it's perfectly fine if I don't end up finishing my work what matters is usually after class since I'm still in the flow of doing work I try my best to finish it
and you don't even need to use a workplace like I do schools have libraries and facilities for you to do your work so make use of those the thing is I have a university notion page where I track most of my assignments however I always try to finish most of the work before I even plot them on my calendar this way when I do get home I can focus mostly on studying you can even apply this to group works as well as much as I hate group Works freaking incompetent groupmate you can finish your part
of the group work by simply setting and delegating a deadline right after the assignment is set take leadership and set a deadline to your tasks immediately assign roles and delegate work to your group this is so that you all know clearly what work is assigned to who and you can focus on your own work next quality we have that top students have is treating studying not like studying but more of a routine instead of studying when they need to they follow a set routine of studying instead for example when I'm done with class it's kind
of my routine to study right after in a workplace in town even if I don't feel like doing it the benefits of routining routining is that even a word is that my mind automatically does it even when I'm not motivated and that's the beauty of systems and routines rather than relying on your feelings to study which isn't a reliable source of push you rely on your set systems to accomplish your goals one really good way to keep earflow studying is to study outside as someone who loves to lay in my room doing nothing my house
is the last place that I want to stay when it comes to studying however this could be different for everyone and I'm sure people prefer studying at their house to each their own there is no one answer for all but as much as possible make your studying your routine it'll help the next habit they have is to have a proper system so things like scheduling assignments putting notes or having an organizational system they already have one before even school started for example when one is given an assignment they already know where they're scheduling on or
planning it where it's almost automatic just like their studying being a routine they don't have to think they just have to rely on their system their system mixes it so that they don't waste any mental energy onto planning or working with their schedule for example when it comes to scheduling and storing my notes I use notion to handle all of that I use my own notion template to track all my assignments and notes and it even has a built-in revision tracker for me to track when I studied for certain subjects in terms of planning and
scheduling I mainly use the app akif flow today sponsor now I know it's a sponsor but the thing is I have a lot of applications that I use to track a lot of things because not only am I a dental student but I'm also a content creator and well because of that I really have to manage a lot of apps for example in my notion page I have lots of projects to consider and I also have tasks that come in Daily which I really need to put in one place and this is where akif flow
comes in akif flow essentially solves that problem by being an all-in-one to-do calendar app where you could have Integrations from the app that you use for example I'm someone who uses notion in Google Calendar and I kind of want to have everything all in one place so I just use aif flow it's where track all my to-do lists and projects as well as my calendar and to have it on in one app is just really convenient for me I'll show you guys a little demo on how I pretty much schedule my day and even if
you don't use akif flow I still think you can get a thing or two from watching my demo so right now we're in akif flow and yes this is my real schedule but I haven't really planned out for today I'm currently writing the script hence why I'm recording this right now but I will be just going over akif flow and its features so on the left you will have your tasks as well so on the left you have your tasks and you have different windows for your tasks this inbox window shows you all of your
tasks that you have in total um regardless of schedule see from the name that it's tasks due today and then upcoming it will show you this tab over here that shows you the different weeks and months you can assign your tasks so you can click days or weeks or even months it's really cool because some projects that I have are not something I can just plan for the day it's something that I plan for like the whole month so if you just click this as you can see I have a bunch of projects for the
month and here you have all tasks as well and what's cool about akif flow is you can even drag the tasks onto your calendar so for example I'm working on the video you're watching right now so I'm just going to drag it onto the calendar and there it shows you right here and this outline over here means that this task is sort of my goal for today you can put different priorities for your different tasks as well it's just really cool and not only that what I love about a flow as well is the amount
of projects you can have on the left so as a student and a content creator I do have to manage a lot of things so having projects for all of these in this sidebar is really useful so my favorite feature about a flow is the daily planning feature so I'm just going to click this and I'm just going to be planning my day for today so I'm going to click daily planning over here and I'm going to click daily planning so the this window is essentially yesterday's recap it's just telling me what I've accomplished as
well as my schedule yesterday I did have to bring my lab code for General fishology but it's been a really good day yesterday so I'm just going to put that as a happy face over here next planning for today um so it will show you the amount of tasks that I have available so these ones I don't really need anymore they're actually old projects so I'm just going to delete that um I'm going to be mainly focusing on this video today and I'm going to plan let's say I'm going to plan this for the whole
afternoon and then maybe I'm going to work out as well in the late afternoon so that I can keep up with my health and then I'm going to go back to editing this as well so maybe I'm just going to drag this all the way down yeah ACU flow has been really useful for me if you like there are lots of Integrations and statistics as well you can even check the tasks you've been doing as well so yeah pretty cool but yeah if you guys want to check out ake flow just go in the the
link in the description you can go and try AC flow there use my link down below and it will help my channel out as well yeah back to the tips the next tip I have for you is to surround yourself with many like-minded people who challenge you humans are quite competitive and in order for us to survive and to thrive we try to be better than each other quite literally just like the saying the fit only survive so it's only natural for us to be a bit comparative with our peers and that can be a
good thing if you surround yourself with like minded people who aim to achieve High you too will be inspired to do the same as well and if you can foster a positive environment with your friend group rather than a Cutthroat competitive one then there's room to grow with each other I surrounded myself with lots of smart friends and let me just say being with them makes me feel like I have so much to learn and so much to push for if you don't have any luck finding people in your class I recommend going online like
study discords or whatever you don't even have to make friends you just have to join the study calls that these discords can offer yes I know that I have to make my Discord server soon don't worry that will happen in like 2065 another good thing about having a strong circle of friends is that when things go bad they can also have your back when you need them I would have lots of times where I would be reviewing with my friends and they would tell me about a fact that I didn't even know as part of
the quiz it's very naive to think that you can survive the world without friends and trust me you will need connections to survive you can't just survive on this world alone the next tip is a very powerful tip and it's one of the most underrated tips that I have but it's to simply just evaluate yourself Eco is our biggest enemy and to think that you've got everything in control is a very very narrow mindset to have always be open for growth after every quiz or assignment I tried to see what went wrong or why you
made certain mistakes and after every evaluation try to even ask your teacher what your mistakes were and from those mistakes try to adapt and learn from them for example recently I had a quiz that I studied for but I missed a few questions because I haven't watched the recorded lecture that the professor provided and I mainly focused on the PowerPoint itself only from that mistake I realized that I really have to pay attention to the recorded lecture more than the PowerPoint all in all because the teacher includes questions that she doesn't include in the PowerPoint
itself learning from small mistakes can really help you a long way and instead of taking your score and be done with it try to learn and grow from it and trust me you'll improve in an exponential [Music] rate now as much as I don't want to push this narrative if you really want to be a top student you will not just need the efficient study methods such as active recall space repetition and blurting those are already the things that we all already know the thing is we're at an age where everything is successful to everyone
and everyone already knows the different efficient study methods the difference now is whether or not you're willing to push yourself to study those extra five slides to push yourself to finish your flash cards every day to push yourself a bit extra every day I don't recommend this because at the end of day I care more about you enjoying your journey rather than making it a source of suffering but if you really want to push through and be the top you really have to suck it up and push through now the most important question I want
to ask you is do you really want to be a top student and ask yourself why you want to be a top student in the first place if you're watching this because you just want to improve your grades but you don't really care about being the top then maybe that's perfectly fine I would even recommend going this route whatever you take from this video I hope that these tips will help you in some way or at least help you give a bit of motivation to push more in your school what matters in the end is
that you guys are enjoying your journey and even if you're sacrificing a bit here and there I hope you find meaning in that anyway thank you guys so much for watching and don't forget to drink or water and I'll see you in the next video bye [Music]
