Today I'm going to tell you about the three habits that I permanently excluded from my life. Well you know how it works here, without a lot of fuss, let's get into the habit number one I took out of my life, It was the habit of hitting the snooze button! There are many people who ask me: May where do I start?
what would my perfect routine be? What are the certain hours of my day that would be best for me to read, to exercise? But what we don't realize, and I also did n't, is that my day was all wrong because I it started wrongly, I was that person who pressed the snooze button three, four times every day in the morning when the alarm went off , and every day when I got up from my sleep, after pressing the snooze button several times, and going back to sleep several times, I woke up feeling super tired, super out of energy, it felt like I had never slept enough, I remember commenting to my husband and saying: God,I think I will have to go to the doctor, because every day I wake up tired, I don't know what happens to me I don't know if I 'm lacking vitamin, I don't know if I'm sleeping too much, but the feeling I feel is that I never got enough sleep!
Until one day I was reading an article about sleep cycles, and i understood why i woke up tired every day , and yes, it was because i had the habit to hit the snooze button! I'll explain it very quickly and practically to you, why it was that's what stopped me from hitting the snooze button every morning. Our sleep is made of cycles right?
there are a lot of people who know this, and if you don't know, I advise you to do some research! We have overnight cycles, we have lighter cycles there when we go to bed and it feels like we are sleeping a little lighter, then we change cycles to a heavier sleep , until our alarm clock rings or that we wake up without an alarm clock, when we are approaching the time to wake up our mind is giving signals to the body, in this last hour we enter the cycle of sleep a little lighter, which is precisely the mind sending some impulses saying to the body: Oh it's time to wake up! And these sleep cycles to complete they take if I'm not wrong 90 to 110 minutes, and what then happens in your mind when you hit the snooze button?
Basically explaining it in a very easy way for you to understand, we force our mind to go back to sleep, that is, our mind is there in the last cycle, It has already sent impulse to the body, you've already woken up, and when you hit the snooze button to sleep another five, ten minutes, you force your mind to start a cycle all over again, which cycle yours mind already completed , it takes more than an hour for this cycle to complete and you won't sleep more than an hour, so you sleep those five minutes, make your mind come back and restart the cycle, and after five, ten minutes the alarm goes off again, you wake up and get up, which results in a mind that will remain in a sleep state for up to four hours, that the simple fact that you press that button and go back to sleep will make you unfocused, lazily, with this feeling I had that I was always tired and thinking I had something wrong with me, and probably how you already started your day in this state of laziness and tiredness, you will take your whole day in the same way! Starttoday, remove the snooze optionon your alarm, and from tomorrow do not press this function anymore! so you can start your day already earning.
Habit number two: Not using your cell phone at first, second and third in the morning, I was that kind of person who woke up and first thing what I did was pick up my cell phone, and there I was running the feed of social media, until I realize that I was already there in that state for two, three hours, and that made me extremely unmotivated, I already woke up with that feeling of procrastination, that desire not to do nothing but stay on the cell phone! Many times even when I got out of bed, after having spent three hours on my cell phone , I would jump straight to the couch, and there I would stay, because all the desire to do more important things in my day, I had already lost because of this first time in the morning. Guys, I always say that for you: to change a habit you have to identify the trigger, and my procrastination trigger was picking up the cell phone in the first hour of my morning, and when you start your day and the first thing you do is get your cell phone, you train your brain to enter the reactive state, you only respond to stimuli, and this way your brain it creates a pattern of lack of focus, of excessive distraction.
Have you tried reading halfway through time without being distracted? without picking up the cell phone? The focus is a muscle that needs to be trained, so if you don't get your cell phone in the first hour of the morning, you start to re-educate your brain, so that you have more focus, so that you can focus better on things, and not just respond to stimuli around you!
So now you imagine this combo that was my life: Hitting the snooze button, plus the cell phone in the early hours of the morning! And the third habit that I totally took off in my life, and this one is definitely responsible for the first habit there I said that I excluded, it's the habit of going to bed whenever I want, I used to go to bed anytime, sometimes i would go at 10:00 pm, sometimes i would go 00:00, sometimes i I would go to bed 1:00 am, it depended on whether I had interesting stuffin my feed or not, after I updated three times, four times, and saw that there was nothing more interesting to see, I said: Now I go to bed! and this at alternate times, and this inconsistency of time and super stimulation before bed left me with insomnia, made me even more tired in the morning, with still plus that feeling that there was something wrong with me, that I needed to check something in my health, because I felt tired every day, nowadays my time to go to bed is 9 o'clock at night, it doesn't matter if I'm out of sleep, it doesn't matter if I haven't had dinner yet, 9:00 I'm already in bed, it's very important that you have a sleep routine, that you go to bed every day at the same time, and that you wake up every day at the same time, without the snooze button!
The second change attitude I had in my life, after the first which was to delete all my social Media, was to create a sleep routine, I understood that that excess of tiredness every day of my life, it was coming from somewhere, and then I went looking to adjust what I needed to adjust in my life! Everything I do during my day, all the good habits that I created, many of them came from that habit! There's no way you can be a focused person if one day you go to sleep at one o'clock in the morning, another day at three o'clock in the morning, and another day at ten at night!
There's no way you can focus on reading, studying, at work, if you hit the snooze button, and makes your mind sleep again while you're awake! There's no way you can escape procrastination if you train your mind picking up your cell phone from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep! And when I understood that all these habits were intertwined, I permanently excluded them from my life!
Sometimes we we think the problem is much bigger than it is, I already mentioned it here, I thought that procrastination it was my identity, that I was a procrastinating and lazy person , and that's how i was born and so i would die this way! And when I understood that I wasn't a procrastinator, I had the habit of procrastinating, as a result of all these habits that I had to eliminate of my life I started to be the person who jumps out of bed, often two to three minutes before the alarm clock ringing, without any trace of tiredness, fatigue or that feeling I had that I had never gotten enough sleep! I started to be the person who enjoys getting out of bed, pleasure in exercising in the morning, something I never thought in my life that I would ever be!
Well so please give yourself a chance, you will see how your life will change, and how you will start to look at yourself in a different way, how are you going to realize that you are not a lazy person, that you are not a procrastinating person, but that you have things to change so that you can become the person you never imagined you could one day become!
