hello everybody today i am excited to talk about the nine types of biblical angels this is something that it's so weird to me that there isn't more coverage or interest in a lot of us have a sort of semi okay understanding of angels like we understand that in the christian canon they're from heaven and carry out the acts of god but angelology itself is such an interesting subject because we have specific mentions of what certain angels do where they reside and what their purpose is so today we're going to talk about the nine different kinds
of angels and the three different tiers that they reside in going into research for this i was afraid that i wouldn't have enough information to talk about but if you look at the time of this video you can tell that i was wrong a few things to get out of the way first for one if you're new to the channel hello but also i cover topics regarding religion and christianity and god on all that stuff and i never do it in a way that i'm trying to sell you on something or at least i try
not to if it accidentally comes off this way oops the purpose of this is to be educational and entertaining so i am just going to be giving a description i'm not going to try to convince you anything or pull out a greater purpose for it this is purely to get across the point of view of how cool the study of angelology is on that same note to everyone watching i am a christian and i understand the severity and the regard that one needs to have when talking about this stuff throughout this video i'm going to
be mentioning the names of specific angels and demons and i understand that that's a big deal so while again i'm not trying to sell you on anything or convince you to believe everything that i believe i'm also approaching this topic from a point of reverence that being said we are going to be specifically looking at legends within the christian bible just because again that's what i'm trying to focus on here and things like the judaism text or the muslim text also have angels although they're very different in some regards with some similarities but we're going
to be sticking to the christian canon of scripture today also i am going to try to stick with descriptions from the bible itself however and i'll mention it specifically whenever i get to him there are some details mentioned about angels that are believed to be true although not in the bible itself for example there are several writings that the prophets had outside of the bible where they described angels there were things like the book of enoch or the apocryphon which are supposedly written by prophets in the old testament but again not in the bible along
with some things like visions and interpretations that the catholic church had but like i said whenever i get to something that is not clearly stated in the bible i will mention that it is not clearly stated in the bible pretty much just bringing in a little bit of outside influence to fill in what may be some gaps in understanding i'm excited to get into it we're going to talk about everything from what the highest and most powerful angels are to what the story of armageddon is supposed to be to the type of angel that satan
potentially is and everything from the ones on the most high mountain of god down to our own guardian angels and you know what else is a guardian that's right today's sponsor that can help you save money during your online shopping honey honey is the free online shopping tool that automatically scours the internet whenever you're at checkout and finds a coupon code that works for you honey can be used on all kinds of different websites and checkouts like for example whenever i go to order pizza and then i get to the checkout honey pops up and

it but as always thank you for watching so to begin i want to make it very clear now that as humans our knowledge of angels is incredibly limited our idea of what they look like come from visions that people had throughout the bible as well as what the angel's purpose is and what they do so pretty much just because someone saw an angel do something for a few seconds it doesn't mean that's the only thing they do or the only thing they can do so whenever i talk about where these angels reside and what their
job is specifically that doesn't mean they're confined to it that's just the only thing that we can be sure of so before we get into the specific types it's best to mention the three tears that these angels reside in there are some angels mentioned in the bible whose entire purpose is to exist within heaven and carry out acts immediately next to god there are three angels that exist in this tier in christian belief this is considered the first sphere also known as the first choir because these are the angels that are closest to god then
after that you have the second sphere or second choir and this tier also contains three angels within it as well and not like there's only three angels like three different types of angels within that tier these angels still exclusively exist within heaven however the actions that they do affect people on earth and then finally we have the third sphere or third choir which again contains three different types of angels these are the angels that directly interact with humans and are on earth with us in order to make it easier i'm going to break it down
like this the top tier or the first choir is godly servants the second tier is the heavenly rulers and the third tier is the earthly messengers to make this list easier we are going to start at the top with those closest to god and progressively work our way towards us on earth i also want to emphasize this now whenever i talk about one angel being beneath another angel or lower than another angel i'm not talking about they don't have as much power or as much authority i mean they are quite literally lower from god than
the angels previously mentioned because as we're going to see in a bit some of the most powerful angels mentioned on the bible are in that earthly messenger tier so as we go down don't think that these guys are getting weaker as anything they're getting more direct with us but we're going to start at the top and work our way to the bottom so beginning with the top tier and the godly servants we have the seraphims seraphim is plural of seraph and refers to the angels that directly exists next to god's throne the translation of seraphim
quite literally means the burning ones the primary account that we see mentioned of them is in isaiah chapter 6 whenever the prophet isaiah is having a vision of what god's throne looks like during this vision he describes the seraphim as being creatures that have human heads and six wings the head is only rarely seen as the way that the angels move is they use two of the wings to cover their face two of the wings to cover their feet and the two other wings to fly the seraphim i'm mentioning as the highest here because they
are only ever mentioned as being in direct proximity to god quite literally they're seen as sort of caretakers of the throne of god and move the throne about and constantly sing praises while around him during isaiah's vision he tells god that he himself is not worthy to stand before him because he has an unclean mouth so one of the seraphim grab what's essentially a burning coal come and place it in his mouth and says you are now purged of your sins some people have taken this to mean that whenever someone becomes a christian and has
their sins forgiven that the seraphim play a physical role in that although this is the only time that's ever mentioned so it's not exactly confirmed or anything furthermore in the book of revelation which is a whole like bag of worms to get into in itself whenever john is having the vision of god's throne he mentions creatures that are believed again to be seraphims and during it he gives a bit more description for example there's a part where he mentioned the wings that adorn the seraphim are covered with eyes which is the reason in a lot
of biblically accurate angelic depictions the wings themselves that are covering their entire body are also covered in eyes now all that information that i said is the true knowledge of seraphim from the canon of scripture however there is some other stuff mentioned just outside of scripture for example it's in i believe the book of enoch there is a mention of the angel michael being a seraphim now we're going to talk about michael a whole lot here in a minute but whenever we hear michael mentioned in scripture he does not have the form of a seraphim
now again this is outside of the context of scripture so you can take everything i'm saying as total just hogwash and throw it out but if that's true that can mean that the seraphim themselves can be different kinds of angels or at least transform themselves physically to look at something else within a lot of the catholic interpretations of scripture there's even more names seraphims for example the leader of the seraphims is someone referred to as seraphiel and is supposedly the leader of those that give praise to god another angel again this is in the catholic
canon of scripture that is a seraphim is that of metatron and i know it sounds like megatron but just be just be mature with me for like three seconds metatron and again this is outside of the bible is mentioned as the record keeper or in other words his purpose is to write down everyone that ever lives and then keep a tally of who's dead and who's alive in some depictions of metatron he has an eye and a tongue for every person that has ever existed so just let your imagination run with whatever that looks like
but going back to the true canon of scripture whenever the seraphim are mentioned they are an immediate proximity to god however just because that's our knowledge of them it doesn't mean that they may not be capable of doing more that's just what we know the second angel that inhabits this first fear or first choir is the cherubim so the cherubim are probably the most well-described angels in the bible and also the worst interpreted throughout history whenever someone hears the word cherubim they think of this this is not a cherubim it's not even close the reason
this became the image of the cherubim is because during the renaissance whenever the church had all these artists paint different depictions of angels they wanted the images of the angels to be very appealing so they went with the greek depiction of cupid and pretty much said yeah that's cool we'll say that that's part of the god stuff sure cherubims do not look like this as a matter of fact they look like this cherubims are first witnessed by the prophet ezekiel and they're described throughout the entirety of ezekiel chapter 1. during this time ezekiel is standing
by the river whenever he begins to have a vision of a cherubim and other stuff we're going to get into but during this vision that ezekiel has he describes the cherubim as having four faces the face of a man the face of an ox the face of a lion and the face of an eagle furthermore he says that they have the body of a lion the feet of an oxen and that their wings themselves are again covered with eyes now about the whole eye thing because the eyes got mentioned with the seraphim and now they're
being mentioned again with the cherubim it can't be a hundred percent confirmed if this is like a physical eye on their wings or if it's a sort of spot or moving ring that just appeared as an eye to the people viewing it i personally believe it was a quite literal eye because in the same breath whenever he talks about an angel we're going to talk about in just a second he says the eyes were used to view the works of god so if it's a thing he describes as an eye and it's used to literally
look at something then it's probably an eye furthermore whenever ezekiel is describing this type of angel in ezekiel chapter 1 he describes that whenever they moved and wherever they went there was this bright fire that glue with glue glowed glow glue whatever it reflected with every color imaginable and out of this fire came strikes of lightning and thunder cherubims are also one of the most frequently referenced angels in the bible for what they do for example at the garden of eden which is the beginning of humanity with adam and eve whenever adam and eve committed
the first sin and were kicked out of the garden god appointed a cherubim with a rotating fiery sword to guard the entrance of the garden itself because yeah if you know this thing is standing with a fiery sword at the place you want to get into you're probably not going to get into it furthermore whenever god told moses and the children of israel to build the ark of the covenant he specifically ordered that they build figures of two cherubims on either side of the ark and whenever's king solomon who is the son of king david
builds the temple in jerusalem he builds several figures and statues of cherubims as an honor to god so why are cherubim specifically mentioned as the second highest as in literally closest to god within the bible remember that vision that i described of ezekiel well what happens in that vision is he sees the cherubims and then he sees the next kind of angel we're going to talk about and then above them he sees god himself sitting on the throne furthermore it's described in revelations that beneath god's throne there is an actual cherubim that is always guiding
and moving it it's believed that the cherubims are quite literally the guards around the throne of god or in other words god's closest sentinels remember that ark of the covenant i talked about how whenever god told moses to build an ark he said to put two cherubims over it well the ark of the covenant had a very important use to the people in the old testament not to get into all the nitty gritty of it but this is before salvation and the holy spirit and all that so whenever god performed an action or someone wanted
to talk to god it had to be a sort of conversation and god had to physically manifest something before them so this ark of the covenant was also something known as the mercy seat this is where god would physically come to earth and set in a place known as the holiest of holies and he would hear what the high priest was to say about the people and he would grant mercy and gifts and what have you so whenever god told them to build a physical throne for him to come and set down on earth he
ordered them to put two cherubims over it this lines up with the vision that ezekiel has where he sees cherubims being the ones who guard and carry around god's heavenly throne so it seems that cherubims are the sort of escorts or keepers of the throne of god however like i also said they're mentioned in things like the garden of eden so that's an example of one acting on earth this goes back to the thing i said that our knowledge of angels is limited so for example we see a couple of times that cherubims come to
earth and do physical things on earth but we never hear of something like that from the seraphim but because of this story i don't think that that means the seraphim can never leave the presence of god or can't do anything on earth i think we've just never seen an example of them doing it but we do know that the cherubim can in fact act on earth and now i'm gonna go on a little side tangent i'm really excited about to explain to you my reason that i think satan himself is a cherubim so what was
satan well satan as he's mentioned in the christian bible was one of the highest ranking angels and one of the closest ones to god as a matter of fact it's said that satan who was at the time known as lucifer was the master of music in heaven not only that but he is described as being one of the most beautiful angels and most beautiful creatures to ever exist until one day he decided that he was better than god and tried to overtake him to which god cast him out of heaven along with all of his
followers who had also joined with lucifer so lucifer was cast out of heaven and became satan those followers that went with him and were therefore also cast out or fell from grace became what is now known as demons and it's so many that it says a third of the angels fell with lucifer but what that means is at one point lucifer or satan was one of these different classifications of angels so why do i personally feel like he was a cherubim well remember ezekiel who has this whole vision of god on his throne and the
angels beneath him and that's where this whole description of cherubim's come from well later in the same book of ezekiel in chapter 28 specifically ezekiel is ordered to give a command to a king essentially god telling the king that he's going to be taken out of power however the words that ezekiel says are very interesting and as a matter of fact i'm going to read a bit of it because it's too cool not to so in this scene ezekiel is standing before the king of tyrus and he's essentially telling him that he's going to be
kicked off the throne so whenever ezekiel goes to him god tells ezekiel to say this thus saith the lord god thou has sealest up the sum full of wisdom and perfect in beauty thou hast been in eden the garden of god every precious stone was thy covering this doesn't make any sense why would ezekiel be telling just a seemingly random king that he was in the garden of eden because if you'll remember the only four beings besides the cherubim i talked about that were ever mentioned actively being in the garden was adam eve god and
satan whenever satan appeared to eve as the serpent i believe what is happening in this scene is the devil or satan is the one who has control of the king of tyrus so when ezekiel is speaking to the king he's actually talking to lucifer himself so what is it that ezekiel says to lucifer he describes everything that lucifer has and says the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was created in thee in the day that thou art created again that's a reference to lucifer being the leader of music and instruments but continuing on
he says thou art the anointed cherub that covereth and i have set thee so thou wast upon the holy mountain of god thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire okay so there is no reason that ezekiel would tell a king that you are the cherub you were on the holy mount of god all that stuff so again this goes back to my point that he's talking to the devil he specifically says you were the anointed cherub on the closest most high mountain of god and you walked through the
stones of fire the stones of fire are mentioned in ezekiel chapter one as the things that surround the cherubims i just realized cherubim's is like a double plural because chair bim is the plural of cherub so chair of bims is stupid whatever and continuing on as eagle says thou was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou was created till iniquity was found in thee talking about lucifer's fall from grace from heaven and then at the end of the verse it says and i will destroy thee oh covering cherub from the midst of the
stones of fire that is the second time that ezekiel specifically called lucifer a cherub so it's so interesting to think about the devil not being some creepy creature with horns but to imagine him being one of these beautiful beings of grandeur that thought he was better than god and was then cast out and continued in verse 17 he says thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by the reason of thy brightness this is what i was talking about about him being one of the most beautiful angels in heaven
and his knowledge or his brightness was so great that he thought he could overtake god so because of this entire reason i have the opinion that lucifer himself was a cherubim which means that lucifer was one of the closest angels that ever existed to god himself possibly the devil at one point carried and worshiped god as part of his throne which makes the fall from grace and the beginning of the fall of man so much more tragic but to finish out the section about the godly servants there is one more type of angel mentioned in
this tier and that is the thrones so remember that scene i talked about in ezekiel chapter 1 where ezekiel had the image of the cherubs and then or cherubim whatever and then god setting above them and how i said there was another angel present with the cherub this is that angel as ezekiel described him the thrones or wheels as he called them appeared as four wheels within wheels that were constantly spinning the wheels themselves had four wings that were on them two to fly and two to cover part of itself and it gets even weirder
from there he describes these things known as thrones as having eyes all about the wheels looking in every direction and from within them was a fire that as he describes it was the color of a terrible crystal now terrible as it's written here can mean multitude or many so imagine it as a sort of kaleidoscope of colors within a fire inside of the spinning wheel furthermore he says there are these living beings or creatures within the burning will itself and in a later part of ezekiel in ezekiel chapter 10 he describes whenever god orders the
angels to pour out blessings on a household he sees the cherubs which i mentioned earlier reach into these thrones and pull out these heaping colorful burning coals of fire and lay them out across the house and when describing these wheels he says that the height of them was so height that it is quote dreadful and also when describing them he talks about the parts of them beneath the firmament or in other words beneath the sky so it's entirely possible that these things are as big as the sky or as big as a mountain if not
larger and he says whenever they move their wings it sounded as the noise of great ocean waves and that whenever they spoke it was the noise of thunder and trumpets you know how like there's all these mentions in the bible that whenever an angel appear to someone it starts the conversation with be not afraid that's because if this thing immediately appeared before you your initial reaction would probably be fear of some kind so i'm emphasizing be not afraid now the reason these are still considered to be in the top tier or the godly servants is
because the only time that they're seen is here and again whenever it's talking about the throne of god in revelations now in a specific scene in revelations there's no mention of the wheels being there or the openim or the thrones or whatever you want to call them instead however there is a mention of several elders gathered around the throne all praising god this has led many to believe that perhaps the wheels within wheels and the spinning eyes and all that is just one form that the thrones can take and perhaps as i mentioned earlier with
the seraphim and michael angels have the ability to transform their physical appearance for whatever need arises this is actually something that we know from other parts of scripture can happen like for example lucifer became a snake or went into a snake in the garden of eden so that's a transformation it talks about several times that we're going to get into later that angels can appear as humans and that's a transformation and here potentially thrones can take the form of that of an elder at least around the presence of god so perhaps what it is is
that these angels are nice enough that whenever someone like john views all of them at once in revelation they appear in a form that he can understand or in other words at the end of the bible whenever john is viewing this vision all the angels are in a form that he can comprehend and won't melt his brain so these thrones appear as these elders whereas whenever ezekiel sees them that may just be the completely unbridled true form they exist in like imagine there's a cloak that the angels are the supernatural wear to appear normal to
people and imagine that whenever you lift the cloak it's these spinning wheels with eyes and these infinite colors of burning fire and these creatures with four faces that rotate in on themselves and etc etc so perhaps these creatures can take other forms but again as we see here in ezekiel this may just be their true form unadultered also as one last mention that book of enoch i talked about earlier enoch talks about seeing these thrones too and he refers to them as the many eyed ones which again checks out so now that we have gone
through the entire first fear or the closest sphere to heaven we're now getting into the second sphere also known as or at least as i'm calling them the heavenly rulers these are angels that still exist within heaven however the actions and things that they perform are directly to us on earth also information on these is much more scarce in the christian bible so there is a lot more influence taken from things like catholic saints and the apocrypha and different stuff like that beginning with our first angel in this sphere or tier choir whatever you want
to call it the dominions the dominions also known as the dominations or lordships have a job of regulating the duties of the angels under them and again by under them i mean literally like down under this brings up an interesting point that i thought about with researching this a lot of people have the question of do angels have free will or are they a sort of mindless servant that god created some are even of the belief that angels used to have free will because again lucifer was able to rebel and try to take the seed
of god before he was kicked out and people believed that after that god took free will away from the angels however the fact that as these angels are described that they have control and essentially a sort of lordship i mean they're called dominions for a reason over the angels under them shows that angels have to have some level of free will or choice because if they were all mindless servants then what's the purpose of a leadership role in most artistic depictions and again this isn't exactly true canon of scripture but there's not a lot to
work with when it comes to this tier of angels they are depicted as having a golden staff in their right hand and the seal of god in their left hand again like a form of royalty this is to show that they physically rule over the angels beneath him as well as carry out the will of god it's also believed that the dominions himself work as a sort of judge in other words whenever god rules judgment in one way or the other it's the dominions who carry out the action in a lot of their depictions it's
believed that the dominions are summoned or made to act on earth whenever humans have a very large conflict or battle against each other so in other words whenever something like a large-scale war comes the dominions begin to pass judgment on earth it's also believed in some depictions that dominions quite literally have dominion over certain areas of earth and many believe that things like wisdom or leadership are imparted on rulers through dominions they're also often viewed as the bringers of mercy because you know they're judges they don't just do the punishment part they can also do
the mercy part it's believed by several scholars that it was a dominion who came down to earth and stopped abraham from killing his son isaac which is a whole other story dominions are primarily mentioned by the apostle paul in books like ephesians and colossians and it's believed that dominions also have reigns over things like the cosmos and the planets and the stars and everything in the sky so you could sort of view dominions altogether as the rulers of order and judgment and carrying out god's will one of the reasons that they're seen as a sort
of commander over the angels beneath them moving on to our second angel in the second tier we have the virtues virtues are often described as the angels of nature on earth in other words they quite literally are the governors over nature and the elements themselves again a lot of what i'm talking about right now is taken from examples outside of the bible because the bible doesn't talk about him a ton so things like the catholic canon and what have you it's believed that the virtues are responsible for giving people things like valor and faith hence
the name virtue and that specifically whenever people pray to have their faith strengthen or their belief in god strengthen it's the virtues who carry out this action not only that but virtues are the ones most often credited with performing miracles on earth in other words whenever a miracle is to come it's the virtue who's sent by god to do it and it's even believed that the virtues have the ability to impart things like courage and strength to people individually which is why they're often called the name of strongholds so the idea behind them is that
they impart all of the good sort of attitudes or spirits that people may have and are the direct reason for that virtuous spirit in descriptions of things like the book of enoch they're described as the shining ones so if you have the fiery ones as the seraphims and i guess the shining ones are more approachable and in the majority of depictions they're shown as having white lilies in one hand and red roses in another the white lilies to represent the perfection of god and the red roses to represent the blood or the love of christ
and with several of the depictions you'll get into with the virtues people believe that they are led by the angel raphael i'll talk about him more in a minute because it ties back into a bigger theory i'm going to mention with all of these angels but he is often known as the healer which is goes in line with everything that the virtues stand for so we have our dominions that act as sort of the neutral judges we have our virtues that act as the kind and giving spirits which means we need our punishers which is
where the third angels on the second tier come in the powers the powers are quite literally a form of a anti-demonic century they're also commonly referred to as the authorities because the idea is they are the guardians against demonic presence or in other words fallen angels the primary purpose of the powers is that they are constantly in physical war with the demons on earth the reason however that they're still considered on the second tier which is the tear that resides in heaven and then performs actions on earth is because it's believed that the powers are
the ones who physically guard the border between heaven and earth in other words if cherubims are the guardians of the throne of god then powers are the guards of heaven itself and because of this it's often believed that whenever a human dies and their soul goes to heaven it is the powers who individually escort every soul into heaven which not only shows that there's a lot of them but it also further confirms that idea of a sort of century figure however it's also believed by many that the powers also have a role in fighting temptation
or in other words whenever satan and the devils try to convince people to do stuff that's bad or try to put their influence over people the powers fight them off because of this they're often given the idea as giving power to human leaders or just giving power to people in general in order to fight off the wickedness of the devil because of their role they're always depicted as being covered in armor and having swords or bows or some form of weaponry and not to dumb it down too much but if heaven was to have a
sort of warrior class it would be these guys so the second sphere which is again the angels that are in heaven and interact with man are the judges of the dominions the gift givers or positive judges we'll say with the virtues and the protectors or attackers with the powers so then finally we have the third sphere which is the earthly messengers or in other words angels that are on earth and directly interact with people beginning with the principalities also known as the princes the principalities are most often seen as rulers over different areas on earth
the idea is principalities can preside over everything from nations to individual rulers to individual groups and even things like churches the idea being that one of the primary drives of these princes is to carry out the ministry or make sure the ministry continues on earth because of their sort of rule over areas they're often depicted as having a crown and scepter because again they're seen as a sort of area-centered or at least group of people-centered ruler on earth and it's believed that whenever groups of people are given specific knowledge or blessings it's the axe of
the principalities you know how a lot of christians will talk about being inspired to do art in some fashion by things of god or they will have these breakthroughs in science where they say oh god gave these scientists the knowledge of how to do xyz thing this would be the principalities bestowing divine knowledge on man and it's even belief that they do specific things like give people strength throughout history who needed it like for example there's a common belief that it was a principality who helped david slay goliath you could think of them as direct
administers to our section of reality see and this is kind of a confusing bigger overall topic to get to that may warrant a video in itself one day but concepts like time or notions like days and whatever don't really apply within heaven itself like it's made very clear throughout the bible that heaven exists separate from our timeline or plane of existence which is the reason that things like the seraphims and the thrones and all of that exist with god kind of apart from everything else we understand or our linear view of reality and then you
have the second tier angels that while still in heaven they can interact with the physical world as we know it these angels are in the physical realm directly interacting and going through our experiences as people they're still immortal beings that exist outside of our plane of vision or outside of what we can see and touch but they're sort of existing at the same time as us if that makes sense hence why their specific administers to different groups of people now paul whenever he is talking to the churches in his letters specifically mentions principalities however it's
not in a good way so you remember how i gave my whole theory that lucifer is a cherubim and how whenever he fell from grace he took a third of the angels with him that became demons well it's not really specifically said oh well like 20 were this kind of angel 15 were this kind or whatever but it is believed that a lot of them were in this third ring of angels the reason being whenever paul is talking to the churches about these evil principalities he talks about how they are part of the fallen angels
and how they have rule over several people on earth not only that but he specifically mentions angels that were mentioned in the second tier such as powers as well specifically when talking to the church at ephesus paul says for we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against the principalities against the powers against the rulers of the darkness of this world against spiritual wickedness in high places and yes those words as they were mentioned in the original translation doesn't just mean powers as in like people with power it's specifically referring to the classification of angel
so we know that some of the fallen angels had to be powers and principalities and because principalities as we know them have dominion or influence over certain groups in the world then that would mean the fallen principalities do the same thing only in favor of evil or the devil so whenever you hear people talking about concepts of the devil having influence in politics or being high up in world governments that would be referring to things like the fallen principalities having demonic influence over these certain people there's even specific mentions of these princes having power in
certain regions in the book of daniel a messenger angel which we'll talk about in a minute is trying to deliver a message to god from daniel however whenever the messenger angel is on the way he is stopped by something referred to as the prince of persia and no i don't think it's talking about the video game character this is one of the princes that are previously mentioned as being a principality only this is one of the fallen ones and it's specifically mentioned as the prince of persia implying that for every good angel that exists over
a certain region there is also one or several bad angels over the region as well like mentioned here persia had an evil principality over its rule and the only thing that stopped that prince of persia was when the angel michael showed up to ward him off so that whole thing how i mentioned that like the upper two tiers don't really meld with our idea of like location and time well that's evidence that the principalities absolutely exist in our area of time and quite literally certain areas on earth and continuing on after that on our earthly
messengers we have the second kind of angel known as archangels so archangels as they appear in the bible are kind of tricky to talk about there is only one angel that is ever specifically identified and considered an archangel and that is michael now michael has mentioned several times throughout the bible like i said he was mentioned in daniel whenever he warded off the prince of persia and he's also mentioned at other parts throughout the bible like for example in jude 1 9 it's talking about that whenever moses body was buried and michael came to bury
it it says yet michael the archangel when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of moses durst not bringing against him a railing accusation but said the lord rebuked thee see the reason that michael is so important is because of the overarching timeline of the christian bible so as a very very brief rundown the way time has existed according to the biblical canon is god created angels he created the heavens and then he created the earth with the original people on it adam and eve adam and eve committed a sin and were kicked
out of the garden of eden and then that's whenever death and sin and bad stuff came into the earth thousands of years later god's son jesus died on the cross so that people could then have a surefire way to get into heaven and then that gap of time after that is where we're currently at at the end of that timeline there is supposed to be a final showdown between god and lucifer and in that final showdown the angel who is to fight lucifer and win is michael and it says at the end michael throws lucifer
into essentially a box and locks him up along with all the demons so the reason michael is such a huge deal is because he's supposed to be the one to wipe out all of it which is why many believe him to be the one and only archangel because the idea of an archangel or an overruling or overarching angel is that michael is going to be the single one to destroy the devil which is why in that scene in jude it's very interesting that whenever michael goes to bury the body of moses and the devil shows
up michael essentially says uh we'll finish this later and also to add another level to it there are several people that believe the position of archangel was originally that of lucifer now i can't really find any confirmation or like direct story of this but from a poetic sense it is kind of beautiful the idea being that lucifer was at one point the archangel the largest angel and the closest to god and then whenever he rebelled against god and went away his replacement so to speak which was michael is the one who would one day destroy
him and that picture in jude of the two of them meeting over the body of moses and michael telling lucifer to go away the lord rebuke thee in other words like we both know how this story is supposed to end but for now we'll just part ways is so oh man like say what you want about the bible you may not like it you may think it's dumb you may have religion whatever um but if you're listening to the video this long you probably at least think it's cool so michael is seen as the true
archangel and the warrior and in some depictions michael's even viewed as the one who guards the church and by the church i mean like christians entirely however there's some interesting offshoots people have gathered so there is another angel that's mentioned multiple times throughout the bible and that's gabriel gabriel is the messenger angel he's the one who goes to mary and tells her that she's with child he's the one that goes to the shepherds and tells them that christ is coming he does a lot of messaging throughout the bible there's a specific mention in revelations when
it's talking about the end of times where it talks about the two angels overall and it meant or that's not verbatim something close to that and it mentions gabriel and michael so that implies to some regard that they have a level of equality not only that but there is another mention in revelation where it talks about during the final fight against satan that there are seven angels gathered around the throne one of them being michael but that raises the question of who's the other six now remember that book of enoch thing the offshoot of the
bible isn't technically part of the bible the angel raphael which i mentioned earlier as being the head of the virtues fights a demon on enoch's behalf and specifically says that he is one of the other six who stand between the demons and destroying humanity because of stuff like this and because of people sort of extrapolating different ideas from different contexts of religion people have put together the idea that there is seven archangels and not only that but each of the seven angels have their own specific duty so to go through real quick michael is the
warrior raphael is the healer gabriel is the messenger we've covered all of those already jaffa l is beauty or bestows beauty across the world ariel is nature in the natural world shamuelle is the angel of relations or the archangel of relations and then finally azrael which is the death angel now asriel is mentioned as carrying out these acts of god and slaughtering people and he's referred to as an angel of death or the angel of death specifically and then for those who are familiar with bible stories during the ten plagues of egypt at the tenth
plague whenever the children of israel had to put the blood of the lamb over the doorpost and it says the death angel passed by it's believed that that is in reference to azrael and then different religions like if i remember correctly i believe the muslim religion has 15 archangels i believe that judaism has nine i may be getting those two mixed up but through the christian canon there is one confirmed archangel with other people believing there to be seven and despite their quote-unquote low rank or the fact that they exist in our timeline or through
our sense of reality they are potentially the most powerful angels of all of them they're all certainly of a warrior class or the ability to fight michael especially and every time you see one of them depicted they are each very unique and are each even considered like i said uh the angels or saints of these different ideas or different categories and that whole thing i mentioned earlier how raphael is believed to be a virtue and michael is believed by many to be a seraphim it gives the idea that maybe archangels aren't necessarily like their own
classification or type of angel instead it's a title given to these very seven important very seven very important seven angels throughout the bible which has led many to believe the whole thing i said about lucifer being a cherubim that perhaps lucifer himself at one point was an archangel and then finally we have the final tier the most closely aligned angels to man and that is angels see i've been using the word angel to describe everything because that's what we understand them as but whenever say they're talking about seraphim or the cherubim they never specifically say
angel like we think of angels as the beings that god created uh to carry out actions in heaven and earth and everything that i've mentioned has been that however like seraphim aren't called angels the thrones aren't called angels and things like the dominions the virtues and all that aren't referred to as angels the only thing that also gets the title of angel is archangel and that's kind of cheating whenever we hear the mention of the word itself angels by itself as is that's referring to its own classification so these common angels are the ones that
most commonly exist around people these are where things like guardian angels comes in because in the bible it mentions that every soul has an angel to watch over thee and this is the kind of angel it's referring to down to the point where it's believed that angels can be charged with looking over a specific individual or at least for a limited amount of time while they carry out an action people talk about miracles happening or you hear the term guardian angel a lot this is what that's referring to and it's also mentioned that these angels
can put on a physical form and appear as people so that means that they're so good at blending in and they're so good as appearing as humans that there are people who exist on earth who are actually angels and we're never the wiser to it the primary purpose of these angels is to serve and protect the christians or followers of god on earth in the old testament there's a person known as jacob and one night he has a dream where he sees a ladder going up to heaven and hundreds of angels going up the ladder
and hundreds of angels coming down the ladder showing that god is working on earth and they're going back and forth to get messages and what have you this is where the term jacob slatter comes from those angels going up and down are this classification of quote unquote common angel and they're also mentioned several other times throughout the bible after gabriel appears to the shepherds on the hillside and tells them that jesus has been born in a manger whenever it talks about the heavenly host appearing and singing glory to god in the highest that is this
kind of angel they're all mentioned as having wings again as their sort of messenger who quickly travels around on earth and in the book of hebrews it says that there is an innumerable company of angels all about us which is primarily referring to these and while i say common angels and that makes you think oh well they can look like people i guess they're not that powerful um these angels are incredibly powerful during one story in the bible whenever lot was trying to escape from a city one of the angels simply thought it and everyone
in the city trying to attack them went blind immediately at another time in the bible the prophet elisha was trying to get out of a city so god opened his eyes to the angels that were around him because elisha was kind of afraid at the moment and he saw legions of armies all about him and was like oh i guess we'll be all right like i say common angels because there's a lot of them and from our understanding of the bible at least at this point that's the most numerous that we see hence the whole
common angel thing but they are still an incredibly powerful being that exists insanely beyond the realms of our understanding of energy or power all that stuff which means that most likely the majority of demons would also be this kind of angel now that's not backed anywhere that's not some huge thing but for my understanding if this is the most common angel and if a third of the angels fell from grace and became part of lucifer's army essentially then it would make sense that the majority of them are this type and whenever someone talks about meeting
someone who they quite literally think is an angel this would be that kind of angel as they can appear as human to us and as the bible mentions often do so so all this begs the question why right like or also what is our like connection into this whole thing so you have this incredible like everything i've described from the seraphims and the cherubims and everything else all the way down and then there's a specific class of angel made to guard over us or to help us with daily life or to direct us or what
have you so the question is why right like what's the purpose what's interesting about humanity over all the other angels mentioned and again this is according to the canon of scripture and the christian bible is that humans are the only beings that possess a soul see we see these different tears or whatever have you of angels that exist between heaven and earth and while all the angels were created in heaven and then sent down to earth or what have you humans and souls are the only things that can go upwards think about that everything else
started up high and then was sent low or when you take stuff like the devil and the demons they started up high and were cast down low humans start low or with the soul as a true neutral and then have the ability to progress upwards so the reason we are quote unquote important enough to require an angel or to have angel's guard over us is because the soul that we have is so important because it can go either way it can go as part of satan's legion or it can go as part of the heavenly
choir again this is the reason that we're so special that we warrant things like guardian angels and also this is a question i see a lot of people post when it comes to angels is that of their image while a lot of artistic imagery of angels has been so heavily butchered it looks nothing like them i'm looking at you cherubim there are several angels that are mentioned that look like people and not just whenever like i mentioned the common angels appear as people whenever they're in their normal state it's just like a sort of tall
person with wings so that's another question right like why do they appear as people and why does these majestic beings that exist so far outside of our realm of understanding or whatever have the image of people well the reason for that isn't because they look like people it's because we look like god and no i'm not kidding the reason that humans are so special and contain a soul is because whenever it's described as adam and eve were created in the garden it says that god made man in his own image or in other words god
looks like us or really the other way around we look like god and because we're created in his image each of us sort of exists again according to the canon of scripture as a sort of physical picture of god so the reason that angels seem to look like humans is because they also mirror the image of god that's the reason that these creatures that have the powers or and potentially the capability to turn into these multi-winged eyed spinning wheel things or whatever also appear as just humans with wings because that is the image of divinity
so to put all of that together down on the bottom tier where we exist and again according to the biblical canon all of us exist as a soul with infinite potential to do good or bad within the body of something that is made to look like the creator itself each given our own personal guardian angel in order to ensure the best outcome for our own soul and that's pretty cool a lot of people ask questions with this stuff like okay well if angels are constantly protecting over people or can protect over this or what have
you then why do bad things still happen right like why if there's so many angels everywhere why can't someone still commit heinous acts of violence well what's an important detail that's mentioned throughout this is that the one thing that angels cannot do is interfere with humanity's free will see like i said souls have potential to go one way or the other good or bad and if there's angels everywhere that are constantly trying to convince people to do good and if several of the angels have fallen that means there's demons everywhere constantly trying to convince people
to do bad this could be seen as things as temptations violence or whatever have you so while there is a quite literal spiritual fight between things like powers and demons that is happening in the realm of the spiritual us on earth have free will to simply follow whichever side that we want to side with and humans like i said have infinite potential for good and bad and that potential is not put down or silenced by the angels themselves in other words people have infinite potential for good and evil so everything that can occur within that
sort of graph can and probably will happen and the angels either holy or fallen exist as a sort of side that we can choose to be on so think about all that stuff everything i just talked about from the cherubims and the thrones and the principalities and the powers and the virtues and the dominions and the archangels all of that and tell me that ain't cool like not to and i hope it didn't come off as that of like me wanting to beat you over the head with religion or ideas or whatever like this is
just me describing research from within the bible and from within things sort of near the bible about the different types of angels and how they exist and all of that and i think it's so neat and i'm so glad that i was able to talk to you about this and thank you for watching especially like that ending like there's so many people who are curious about the bible for whatever reason either they just think it's cool or they're legitimately interested with the ideas within it um and like a lot of people ask for like there's
such a spirit of nihilism that can exist in the modern world right we're not just the modern world anytime throughout history and people ask the question of oh well how do you have hope how do you have purpose like what's it mean and regardless like you i'm not saying you have to believe it i'm not trying to sell you on something or whatever but to have someone believe that that whole thing i mentioned at the end that they are an infinitely potential being made in a picture of god with guardian holy spirits to watch over
them like that's got to give you some form of purpose or some level of meaning or worth to yourself and i think a lot of the evils that we see just come from people just having a lack of existence or not really knowing purpose which is the reason i love to talk about this kind of stuff because it's so cool um even if you don't believe it even if you think it's dumb or you think i'm dumb or whatever um like just the ideas of it are so wild that i don't know how they can't
be gripping to you in some way or get your attention and it's just so cool to me and i was so happy that i got to share that with you uh if you're still here you're fantastic this is such a weird out there concept especially for a horror youtuber like me but i've always talked about stuff i found interesting and i find this wildly interesting like people talk just use the word angels and throw it around all the time without really talking about the fact that there is like a tier list and specific mentions and
