when car faes go wrong starting off with the seven series somehow we went from a car with these beautiful angel eyes to this when BMW updated the g117 series to the g12 in 2019 the most controversial change was the massive kidney GRS which ballooned in size and became the focal point of the car's front end this aggressive design clashed with the understated luxury sedan drawing a lot of criticism for its overdesigned front end you know I'm looking at it right now and I just realized it actually looks kind of like a beaver BMW said that
the grill symbolized its new design Direction but many found it to be hideous me included but Fred not you see this was just a transitioning phase from BMW of course and there is absolutely no way that they would make the brand new 7 Series look anything like a beaver number two the Toyota Prius this is how the Toyota Prius looked before the facelift a bit ugly yes of course but functional and unoffensive then Toyota decided to put the entire design team of this car into an actual Prius and put them on some train tracks then
they got the unstoppable train from GTA and did this as a result they needed a new design team who went ahead and created this for the 2017 model year it's literally a crime against humanity and a war against my eyes the one's inoffensive and functional design was replaced with with sharp angular lines and exaggerated styling that felt overly futuristic and also dumb the tail light stretched awkwardly down the rear giving the car a strange appearance that was out of place for a mainstream hybrid the changes tried to make the Prius more visually striking but instead
only alienated fans of its previous designs fans my God number three the first generation Honda NSX this one is sure to ruffle a few feathers I just know it the first generation NSX lost a significant part of its iconic appeal when it transitioned from pop-up headlights to fixed units in its 2002 facelift if I decided to describe these cars in terms of Fast and Furious movies the pre-facelift looks like Tokyo Drift whereas the facelift looks more like Fast and Furious 9 I got family while the fixed headlights improved aerodynamics and complied with modern safety regulation
they robbed the car of the classic 90 sports car charm that the pop-ups had the new headlights made the NSX look less distinctive disappointing a lot of people and it showed as sales started to dip afterwards number four the Chevrolet Camaro the 2019 facelift of the Chevrolet Camaro left many enthusiasts including me scratching their heads as the once aggressive and cohesive muscle carard design was replaced with a mismatch front end the grill became overly large and featured a strange black bar cutting across it oh I think I figured out where Ferrari got their new designs
from by the way speed running AC and theist this facelift was mocked for making the Camaro looked disjointed and less confident and Chevrolet had to do another facelift in 2021 to solve these issues some honorable mentions the Jaguar F typee went from looking like this pre facelift to this I actually think that the facelift isn't too bad but clearly many others disagreed as sales started dipping from 2021 it got worse in the following years dipping over 40% from roughly 700ish sold in 2022 to around 350 in 2023 these are us figures by the way another
honorable mention is the 370Z I remember watching Tokyo Drift and seeing the 350Z and I was just instantly in love the 370Z is not as loved by me sure but it's still a nice car in my opinion the issue here was not that the facelift was bad it was pretty decent actually the only thing was that the car at that point was already aging and the facelift was supposed to make it look fresh when in reality it just made everyone realized the opposite sales were already going down and continued their trajectory until the car was
discontinued in 2020 [Music]
