so we live drastically different lives than everybody else we get to pick up and travel kind of whenever we want and we can homeschool together at home basically all the time I get to race cars in my spare time as a hobby and we get to do all this while working only part-time hours and so how did this come about it actually all started with one ebook and we're gonna get into it we're gonna talk about the secrets of this one ebook and ebooks in general and how you guys can build success with ebooks as
well but it's not going to be what you guys expect so in today's video we're also going to show you five different ebooks that can easily make you a hundred thousand dollars or more when coupled with a secondary strategy like Doug mentioned a lot of people don't cover we're also going to show you how to make them how to promote them what the funnel actually looks like and what we would do if we were starting from zero but before we get into it my name is Haley this is obviously my husband Doug not some random
man sitting next to me and we basically on this channel teach people regular people how to drastically change their lives leveraging specifically a digital product based business business and social media so if that interests you we also have a full hour long presentation that you guys can take completely for free where we teach you how we went from zero to seven figures in our digital product based business in under two years homeschooling with multiple different children the fourth one on the way and so you guys can grab that link down below but let's go ahead
and get into it so most gurus nowadays online they're gonna be telling you just head on over to canva change some colors change some words pump out this super quick and just not valuable ebook super basic ebook then you're gonna push it out to some imaginary email list that you've built somehow or you're gonna host it on Etsy and all of a sudden the Etsy algorithm is just gonna give you like tens of thousands of sales but unfortunately that's not really how it works and honestly if you want to build a sustainable business something that
could make you money that is residual that you can count on you're not going to use ebooks as the primary selling product it actually has to be part of a big strategy obviously you can do that right like you said you can go on canva and you can put out like a basic ebook but the problem that we found with that type of business model is that it's like more of a side hustling thing you might make some money honestly I don't think you can make thousands of dollars with that strategy unless you really hustle
um but we have like I said almost four kids the fourth one's on the way people get coupons it's like hey what do you mean almost four kids how do you almost done imaginary style um but yeah we have four kids pretty much and we need something that is scalable like he said sustainable something that's going to be so big that we're able to retire spouses with and so we don't believe in side hustles things that are for dabblers and so this whole strategy of people teaching you how to like whip out a quick ebook
it's definitely not going to be what we're teaching and we're gonna tell you why so like Haley said ebooks are going to be something that you just sell Alone by themselves if you want to dabble and if you want to be constantly fearing what the next trend is gonna be yeah that you have to hop on to run an ebook right but instead ebook should actually be part of a much larger strategy and so on top of that if you guys really think that you could just put together a like whipped up ebook and sell
it for seven dollars and expect everybody on the internet to be able to buy it you're going to be mistaken okay everybody knows about ebooks nowadays people put out entire like free courses we have one with years and years of content in there for free and you're gonna expect that you're like a grocery checklist is going to be the thing that makes you ten thousand dollars a month like let's not talk about that okay there's really two big points to running an ebook which is generally something that's free sometimes you can charge for it but
generally we'd like to use them as a freebie okay the first thing is is that you're gonna get someone's email okay yes an ebook is actually how you build an email list you don't just have a magical email list you actually use that thing to collect people's emails so you can Market to them later and the second reason why you want to be able to have an ebook is because you can use it as part of a funnel which we're going to get into all the steps of how this funnel works and so for those
of you guys that are confused like why do I need a funnel or or what even is a funnel people tend to over complicate it and they think funnels are these big huge strategies when really a funnel is just a series of pages or a series of steps that somebody takes and so just think of an ebook as like the first step okay after somebody gets your ebook you get their email and you can send them something else or you can send them to a seven dollar class or you can send them to a course
or another offer you can do things like upsells which is where you sell them something right after they sign up for the ebook or you could do bump sells or there's just so many different ways and so many different steps that people can take in this funnel that basically it's just a series of pages that people go through so that they can be marketed your course or your coaching program or whatever it is that's more than seven bucks Doug and I also have a really strong opinion on the old way of online courses digital products
and ebooks and checklists on and that is there's just more competition okay there's obviously we all know and it's the one thing that stops people from actually doing this because they think there's so many other people in my Niche creating ebook or course or digital product on XYZ but that shouldn't stop you but you do need to be aware that if there is a hundred and one thousand different meal planning checklists for moms for free what makes you think you can sell one for seven or ten bucks now like he said you can do that
if you have a large audience but that's not something that's going to free your spouse from their job they hate or bring in six figures if it's something that canva already has a template for you probably can't make six figures selling it because it's not going to be unique enough or provide enough value If people could just click a button and it's made and we've also seen this in our own business with our first product youtubepreneur this was like an online course where we teach people how to basically become YouTubers how to go viral I
have another YouTube channel we did for seven years we were like full-time influencers for those of you guys have no clue um and we LED with like a basic checklist this was like four years ago when you could get away with this a little bit more um what was it like yeah it was like how to be able to get sponsorships or or like a launching guide we had a couple of easy checklists that we thought were bangers back in the day okay and they work people loved them and people ate them up back in
the day like we had thousands of people not thousands that were there but then we found that it just it wasn't enough people were evolving and and people who wanted to learn this stuff were evolving and so then we came out with our YouTube success workbook which was a step up in value and that drove tens of thousands of sign ups and that's where the light bulb kind of clicked or really clicked for Haley and understanding that like hey Doug we need to provide tons of value this cannot be something basic I also noticed I
mean come on there are like podcasts especially nowadays and this yeah there's like 90 minute podcasts with Mr Beast telling you exactly how to rank on YouTube and like it's just it's not going to cut it with your checklist you know and so you can create an ebook but in my opinion if you want to really stand out I don't care if it's on Etsy and you're trying to sell it on Etsy I wouldn't recommend that we have whole videos on why that strategy is not something that is like scalable long term is like a
full-time business even if you're doing that or if you're trying to sell it on whatever those websites are dumb Road and all these other ones we don't like those but if you are you should go the extra mile you should really embed like video training as much as you possibly can because you're gonna stand out and you really want to increase the lifetime value in our opinion for a skill business of every single customer so you don't have to be like a marketing machine all the time so that's what we'd recommend you also don't want
the ebook to be the end of what it is that you're offering like if the end game is your ebook that's the end game of your freedom right there let's buy it to side hustle you're not going to live a different life if if your end game product is an ebook okay what you need to do is you need to link this ebook as a part of a bigger strategy to other products okay upsell to a course that's always a way that you can go we used to also use our ebooks to be able to
upsell people to get into our Facebook groups or to be able to get in our private communities in which we can sell them there too and we could also obviously offer additional advice but really ebooks are marketing tools to bring you to much bigger offers okay and so you need to keep that in mind that in order to get somebody to want to pay you lots of money they need to be impressed by that free thing first if they're not impressed by that they're not gonna wonder what do I get if I pay okay they're
just going to be disappointed and throw your grocery checklist honestly what's going to happen is they're just not they're going to open it like twice I know I bought like ebooks before yeah and I like mean to use the meal planning checklist I hate to use that example and I maybe do once and then I lose it in my email for a life you know yeah so we've kind of dabbled on the different ways to like directly sell with an ebook but let me give more specific examples okay one way is with a direct upsell
that happens directly after someone signs up for an ebook so as you guys probably know if you're getting a freebie ebook you have to give your name and your email sign up give your name in your email congratulations there is an ebook in your inbox but really what you should do is right after they sign up bam you should hit them with an upsell to do something else because they're already in a good mood they already gave you your email they're already buying quote unquote something that's there and so you should be selling something directly
after with what's called an upsell I think for me when I first started getting into this business I didn't even know that I was being up sold something I didn't know what that term was until probably a couple years ago until you like start getting on people's email lists you're like whoa I can't find the x button when you can't find the x button for the upsell you get annoyed maybe you think that's a bad strategy it's not yeah because a percentage of the people that are getting your freebie or even paying for your cheap
ebook they are going to generate a lot of cash with that said upsell so the other thing that we need to be able to do with our ebook is we need to Market them via email afterwards okay so if you're just delivering your ebook in their inbox or even worse you're just giving them a link and they never have to confirm their email subscription at all that's not good okay you need to continue marketing and so one of the biggest ways we make money is actually an email sequence that people get after getting our freebies
okay because what you can do in email is you can actually talk to people about your story you could talk to people about your history you could talk to people about what you teach and your Authority and then you can eventually sell them and Pitch them and once they're on your list then you can continue to Market to them so you have to have a follow-up after they get that initial ebook so now that you understand how an ebook kind of falls into the ecosystem that's here let's talk about the ebook itself and something that
we call our want need strategy that drives tens of thousands of emails and hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue for us so we found that in our own business a long time ago and also just coaching thousands of students over the past couple of years the biggest mistake people make when it comes to a attracting customers even if you're selling an ebook or giving one away for free in exchange for an email is they will lead with the title of their ebook as to what the solution is that they are providing for people versus
what the people actually want and so what the want need strategy does is we lead with what people want to hear we lead with what people want the outcome to be okay how to lose 700 pounds in 30 seconds like absurd things that people put on ebooks but it's like I want that I want that and I want that yeah and whether that has to do with your solution or not is irrelevant because we need to hook them with what they want so like for example we've had like lots of different weight loss coaches like
they're a dime a dozen and they're all very successful not all of them a lot of them and our students are but they will have an ebook or a freebie and they will put something out like how to lose weight by fixing your mindset okay most people at least myself I know it's my mind right because I keep shoving food in my mouth it starts a little pregnant but like most people they don't want to fix their mindset they just want to drop 20 pounds and as fast as seemingly possible and they want what they
want and they don't want your solution you know so you have to almost like indoctrinate them into your ego sphere whatever which is getting them the downloadable you know as fast as seemingly possible and then giving them like he said what they need within the product itself and so instead of saying how to you know lose 20 pounds with your mindset it's how to do it on a keto diet if you're in that Niche and so if I was that demo and if I wanted to do it through keto I had kids and I have
no time then I would grab that right away because that is literally me and that's the way that I wanted to do it in and then once I got the ebook hopefully there's video trainings in there and you go the extra mile and I start to like the person more I will listen to their mindset strategy and then I will be totally indoctrinated and that is how you stand apart from the masses the other component to this just being like a former well current I guess YouTuber and someone that knows how to go viral and
knows how to get a lot of people on their email list is you have to make sure that if you have a really broad Niche which is everybody okay weight loss productivity minimalism talking about this we want to make sure that you're attaching your broad Niche that everybody knows about it's like the same things that are very redundant done over and over to a popping or what do you want to call it trending subnets so for example if you're in productivity okay productivity is pretty broad there's a lot of ways to be productive and your
way may be different than someone else's okay but there's always going to be a popular like fad way of doing things within a niche right and so right now or at least for a while bullet journaling was like the product okay I know so bullet journaling way to like date me and stuff that's here like take bullet journaling for example everyone at one point was bullet journaling or everybody at one point was doing those stickers on their journals okay everybody had those like Erin Condren journals and things and stuff you remember that back in the
day so there's always a wave of something that's happening and so if you can attach your ebook if you can attach their want to this wave it's going to just boost your ability to be discovered because it's a popping thing that's happening and so with Haley's strategy that's really a core component not just to like going viral on YouTube but anytime you want to be able to get somebody to accept your offer or to be able to give you their email downloadable or whatever it is just try to ride whatever you can and so to
kind of take this a step further like let's say that you are in productivity okay you can't just say how to change your life in like 15 days by being more productive you should attach to maybe even a tool or something else that people use that's popular so for instance like notion was Poppin and monday.com all these ads come up and all these planning things that are there you're gonna get another internet you can get something else that comes through and so you can use those to be able to hook and wrap people in because
they're like yes I want this new opportunity I want to use this new tool I've been seeing people use notion all the time I want this notion guide that's here and what's the cool thing is is that it doesn't matter if your offer uses notion or not okay you can use trending things to just bring people in and once they go through your videos and your introductions and your trainings you can slap them in the face and all of a sudden you're like here's how you actually do it it has nothing to do with notion
it has to do with your mind like fix yourself or something like that but that's how it works okay you can bring people in with what they think they want they want that notion they want that new thing and then you can ease them into the thing that they need which is like you gotta fix yourself like that's really the answer or something like that right but that's the basic strategy or the basic premise behind the want need strategy that's here to get people to sign on for your stuff so now we're going to give
you five different examples of ebooks in different Industries and different niches that you can use but you can really use them no matter what industry or Niche that you're in and here's why because traditional ebooks are kind of outdated yeah ebook and that term it kind of just encompasses digital products or digital downloads or different things that you get online okay an actual ebook is kind of old school nowadays like one that you just kind of turn the pages on us there unless you're some type of an author or something like that that can generate
some serious cash and so we're also going to talk about and give you guys examples about ebooks that we've done in our own business some of our students where we know like how much money they make and also just I guess food for thought Doug wants to let you know that ebooks are kind of dead so basically you know the idea of a traditional ebook it isn't really feasible anymore okay you can't just read something nowadays when you need to include at least like links and videos and other resources but an ebook has inspired so
many other things it's inspired templates it's taken on the grips and homeworks and videos it really has taken on a new definition so these next examples take them with an ebook grain of salt if you will and it'll really call them more like digital freebies that people can get that are based on the idea of an ebook I also think it really depends on your Niche okay some niches you are good to go with like literally giving an ebook if you're like an author we have some author friends they give books and stuff like that
yeah but if you're like in Fitness nobody wants to read about your Fitness plan I'm like 99 sure right they want to see it they want to get a challenge they want to be inspired and take action right a book doesn't always do that and so we're gonna give you guys those examples now so the first one here would be kind of in the fitness Niche okay and again like Haley said I don't really want to read about how to do burpees all right but what I do want is I still want a set of
steps that I can take action oriented one by one to try to lose some weight so you could do something like a 30-day challenge workbook okay where people can actually check off boxes they can cross off things but you can embed instructional videos you can link different types of products or weights or things that might help them there and also get some affiliate commission within that ebook too there's lots of different ways for you to slice and dice a type of challenge that is more interactive than just a traditional book the second different type of
ebook remember we're doing air quotes because they take on new meetings in 2023 is I guess for the niche parenting okay so you might put out like a typical chore chart which is a good idea right I have a motherhood Channel I've had one for like I don't even know a decade nearly and so if I put out a chore chart I know that I'd get a lot of emails but what I get a lot of people really invested in like my brand and what I was trying to do would they actually buy from my
upsell or my online course probably not if it was a basic chore chart I mean the conversion rate would be low and so what I would do if I was trying to do that whole strategy and trying to sell people on my parenting course or something more higher ticket which is smart right so I would create a chore chart downloadable lead with something way more enticing how to get your kids to actually do all the laundry I don't know for like the whole family as toddlers but for example I'm not going to say hey go
grab my free chore chart when they could make one themselves on Microsoft Word or and like I don't know in their iPhone so you might want to call this chore chart an actual like implementation strategy okay and the implementation strategy isn't going to be called the kids implementation strategy that's going to scare people away and they're not going to want anything it does sound kind of scary it sounds like the implementation strategy no but what you really need to do is you need to call it how to do something in a certain amount of time
without something that happens okay so how to get all my kids to do their chores in three days flat without anybody crying or whining or whining or back talking or anything like that yeah or throwing things or something like that so it's that is how you're going to make things sound way more enticing than just get my chore chart like that sounds like a chart itself yeah so the next different type of ebook would be maybe for like a success type of Niche right so success is so broad how to make more money how to
be better in your relationships how to lose weight like success in so many different things so let's choose a sub Niche that is really popular so let's say you do teach people how to make more money in their life or their business and so you instead wouldn't just say how to make more money in your life in your own business you would maybe attack yourself if you're okay with it you have to be ethically okay honestly um to a popular sub Niche which might be it's cliche but manifestation visualization how to create a vision board
and so you're going to create a whole maybe ebook maybe this is a legit ebook on how to do these things yeah and so one of the secrets to actually doing this with an actual ebook is to be as specific thick as possible okay we try to explain this to people and we say when you're walking through a bookstore which I don't even know if people walk through bookstores anymore you know like Barnes and Noble or borders from back in the day with your kids but as you walk through a bookstore if you just see
a book on like how to make more sales and you're gonna walk by that because it doesn't really apply okay but if you can attach to a niche and make it super specific that's there okay how to teach a mom of three that has no time that can barely use a computer how to make sales through the phone is something very specific to a person and so when you're doing just a traditional book rather than trying to make it too fancy because it has to be loaded with really good information it should be super specific
okay and that's going to be a huge help as well so another example would be for like the decluttering or I don't know cleaning your house type of Niche yeah that's a legit Niche like how to keep your house clean I mean there's lots of cleaning channels nowadays that go massively viral I know I've dabbled in that as like a motherhood a channel years ago so what I actually see that is very common to get people people on their email list for this specific niche of how to keep your life organized in your home is
checklist like we said and we're just harping on them over and over and so that's fine if you have a huge audience but again the conversion rate will be very low because it's kind of bland vanilla and stale and so what I would do in that nature and example is like a home management binder so this is something I created for myself couldn't find really anything like it online but they have tabs there's like it's so like Mommy like honestly barf Doug like would never do this he would have an Excel sheet but it's like
um it's brilliant really it's a tab for recipes it's a tab for finances it's a tab for homeschooling if you're doing that it's a tab for like your to-do list basic mom stuff that they just want to put down on paper because they're all notetakers yeah and basically you want to be able to also provide like a guide on how to do it yeah okay so that's the thing that that would have Haley stand out from everybody else is that she's not just going to give you the thing it's going to be like here's the
thing and also my video on how to do it that also leads to myself changed my life on how to how binders change your life or something like that yeah okay and so the last example that we want to talk about here is in the productivity Niche and so with productivity a lot of people try a lot of different things right and so they try to do things like spreadsheets or time blocking or they try to do basically whatever they can to become more productive but again I personally would like to attach myself to something
that is a trending sub Niche or a trending tool and so we'd probably do something like a notion training of sorts okay and the thing is is that notion is one of those things that can be of varying levels and again you can apply this to any niche in in the industry okay an ebook doesn't have to just be a One-Stop basic thing it can be something that's much more advanced it could actually be a tool that people can use over and over and over again because that's another way to get value is overuse okay
so what I'd probably do is I'd create some type of a notion planner or notion template that can be used for a repeatable task something like editing YouTube videos or planning YouTube videos even or scripting things where you can be really Advanced with the stuff that you click on and it opens up and it does all these extra things something like that aids value in not just teaching someone but it helps them to save time and to save money and there's actually a tangible saving that's there within the ebook and if they think man I
saved all this time and money for free from Haley and Doug I wonder what I can get if I pay with them the other thing we really like about creating a really valuable downloadable like an ebook or an opt-in whatever you're calling it is that the goal is you have to make it so valuable that the person keeps coming back to the freebie okay so for instance I bought a notion template last year from somebody online and I use it every single day and every time I open it I think of that person because I
see their notes it's weird but I see their notes I see how they structure it maybe not every time but it's something that is constantly it's like unaware of it's time to go back to Haley's guide oh gotta go open up Haley's guide oh look I'm using Haley's guide and subconsciously yeah and that is the goal because you really want to make sure that it's something that sticks with people so that you have your conversion rates Skyrock pocket so that they want to basically pay you their money for the next best thing okay guys so
to wrap it up here we've actually talked about a lot of different stuff right we've talked about different examples we've talked about different ways that you could actually use the ebook we've talked about what not to do with the ebook that's here so hopefully with all this you're able to take it you're able to run with it and you can actually execute get something out there and start implementing with your business so that's pretty much it for this video If you guys like this video and if you want more content on how to basically think
