if you're watching this video there's a 99 chance that the reason you lose a chance is because you blunder your pieces and that is why I wanted to teach you one trick that I think works really well in preventing blundering your pieces and hopefully this will save you from losing plenty of games now I'm playing right now on my speedrun account we're doing a speed run all the way to 2000 where I explain to you at every level what people do wrong and how you should beat those people to climb up the raining ladder we
are right now at 500 so I'll be playing one game against a 500 opponent and I promise you guys that he will blunder a piece at some point during the game so this is my chesacom authorized speedrun account all my opponents get the ratings back um just so you know and let's go ahead and start with D4 I'm gonna play London because I think the London is a fantastic opening at this level so guys the trick that you're all waiting for and how to prevent your pieces from uh being blundered is to place all your
pieces in squares where they are defended okay and you may say okay Anna but you just place your Bishop on Meme number two and it's where it's not defended well I'm defending it the move after never ever ever place your piece in a square where it's not defended and I will show you I will show you how this translates into actual you know into my actual game so I'm gonna go C3 I'm gonna go C3 and then after this I'm just gonna get all my pieces out so we're gonna start with Knight of three we
are developing so we're developing towards the center most important thing to do never develop towards the sides of the board you develop towards the center you get you know your little Center here the New Castle so right now this bishop is being attacked by this one now I know because I place all my pieces and squares where they're defended or the moment after I defend my pieces I know that right now if my opponent would capture my Bishop it is defended but you know just to make sure I'm just gonna go ahead and capture this
bishop we're gonna go ahead and exchange and then after this I'm going to get my other night out we're gonna get the bishop out and we're gonna Castle development is key absolute key so we're gonna go ahead and uh go Bishop over here and now we Castle now one trick that I also think is really good during your games is that if you just make sure that you don't blunder your pieces at this level I promise you if you have the patience to wait your opponent will blunder your opponent will blunder at some point and
that is why they are you know 500 rated and they haven't gone up in in raiding um so my opponent is right now going A6 and this is actually a really good move I'm gonna go Roxy one because after we've developed all our Knights and Bishops and we've castled we want to go ahead and get our Rooks into the game and now my opponent is going C5 and this is a very common meal to try to threaten the center now why do you want to thread in the center because you want to open you want
to exchange some pawns to be able to open up more files and diagonals for instance with C5 if there would be some exchanges then this fall would be open and you want to open up pieces so or open up files and diagonals so right now we're starting to get to the middle game now that all the pieces have been developed we are in the middle game so in this position after C5 it's time for us to come up with a plan which is a really difficult thing to do now many people in this position I
think would maybe go ahead and bring this Knight up over here because they would say oh it's protected by this Pawn but here comes another thing that you need to think about and that is that whenever you're you're moving up at peace and you know you see that it's protected you need to ask okay but how many times is this piece attacked and if we go over here this piece would be attacked two times whereas it would only be defended by S1 so we would actually be losing a pawn so this would be really bad
so whenever you go somewhere you really need to make sure that you're not losing anything especially when you're bringing up a piece to the side of the board of your opponent this right here these these first four ranks over here are your opponent's side of the board and you know these ones are yours so if you're moving up a piece to your opponent's side of the board be careful that you're not losing any material so after C5 there's a few different things we could do but I think actually that I'm simply going to activate my
other Rook I'm just gonna move my Rooks in here because the more pieces I have that are active and that are not you know in their initial position um they well actually that's not the initial but you know those the castling position so The Rook is not doing much here on on this Square because it's blocked by a pawn but the more you do that the more pieces you're able to play your chess game with so right now I'm just waiting for my opponent to I'm not going to say that I'm just waiting for my
opponent to blunder but most of the time um at some point they'll miss something so rookie one I have a few different ideas when I deal with going Rook over here is that I'm actually opening up a square for my knight so I want to bring my knight to a safe space and the safe space I want to bring it to is over here everything is under control I'm gonna go Knight F1 and Knight G3 and over here my knight is going to be looking towards this bishop and my knight is going to be very
very safe so both of our positions are right now very safe my opponent is taking some time to think which is really good you should do this at this level you should get uh you should be thinking and you should be trying to come up with different plans um I have the feeling that my opponent might very soon go E5 which you know this would be a good move or even maybe bring this Knight up and both of these moves are good let's go my opponent is going E5 now that our Pawn is going E5
we need to say okay this Pawn right now we can see that my opponent has three Pawns in the center all of these pawns are Central pawns which means that they're very strong they're taking control of many key squares of our position many important squares so I don't want to let my opponent have all the center in the world so I'm going to go ahead and exchange here because I know that after there's these exchanges the queen will have to be in the center of the board and actually Queens are not so good in the
center of the board because it's very easy to kick the Queens away so I'm simply going to get my knight to another protected Square where I'm threatening the queen and now my opponent needs to move the queen so the queen will go somewhere you can see that this is move 14 and I haven't moved a single piece to the side of my opponent because in all of those squares my pieces would be undefended and I don't want to have an undefended piece I don't want to go with my knight for instance to G5 or something
like this you know I know many people would maybe do something like this and the reason I don't want to do it is because there's going to be a much bigger chance that I lose my piece if I I place it there because I forget that you know oh it's undefended so now this queen is going over here and this queen is right now undefended but it's kind of hard to attack it so one way that we could attack it is actually by moving up this Pawn moving up this Pawn because right now because this
queen is undefended means that we're pinning this Pawn which means that if this Pawn captures over here we are going to be able to capture my opponent's queen as this queen is undefended and I would be winning a queen so I'm already trying to exploit the fact that my opponent has um undefended pieces so in this position the bishop goes over here my opponent is playing really well and my knight is the fun that everything is defended I'm happy about that I'm gonna go ahead and exchange this Pawn for this Pawn because this Pawn the
d-pawn is my opponent's Best Pawn as is one of the pawns that they have in these squares and now everybody we can see that because my opponent has this queen that is undefended this open UPS for tactics this bishop right now is pinned as if the bishop moves once again we can take the queen so actually right now there is a really beautiful tactic and this is kind of hard to see at this level but right now when you see that it's a position where your opponent has an an unprotected piece what you want to
do is that you want to go for the calculation method of checks captures in attacks and the way that you do this you calculate all the checks for instance here there is a check I've done a video where I go really in depth with that and I keep repeating this in every single video but it's because it's a really important concept to know about so you should always calculate in chess in that order so because that's when you get the most forcing move so Queen here okay it's a Chuck but it's not doing much Bishop
here to talk but you know my opponent takes it so let's go ahead and attack pieces for instance Bishop here would be a fantastic Square because if now my opponent takes here then this queen is going to be hanging another fantastic move would be to go for another threat which is to go E4 now why is this a fantastic meal because after E4 when we're threatening this bishop the bishop cannot take our Pawn because this queen is hanging the Knight has to capture because otherwise we're winning at peace and after the Knight captures we can
see that the king is on the same file as The Rook there's another rule you should always Castle very early on and now we're gonna have our opponent is gonna have both a knight and a bishop that are both pinned and you're gonna see the consequences of that and all of this arrives only from the fact that this queen is undefended it's in a square where it's not protected by any piece if right now my opponent's Rook was over here then there would be nothing that would there wouldn't be any threats but now I have
this fantastic move and this is really difficult but I want to show it to you because it's really beautiful there's this move Bishop C4 and I'm threatening one to win this bishop but I'm chill also threatening to win this Knight because if I would be able to capture this Knight my opponent would not be able to capture me back as the queen is undefended so this Knight cannot move right now back to the defense Square because it's pinned the king is still in the center and this everybody is the reason for why you always Castle
very very early on in the game when I tell you that you should get your Knights and Bishops out castle and then get your Rooks into the middle of the game and you know play very much on your side and not get your pieces to the other side of the board is because I truly think that this is the way that you're able to save a lot of your games so right now my opponent went for Rick deed and this is a good way of defending the queen and well simply right now yeah defending the
queen basically so I need to be careful right now but we can see that now I can go for a bunch of exchanges I'm going to exchange the piece that's defending this night you can see that by doing that at some point this night would be hanging because I'll be exchanging the pieces that are defending this so after Bishop takes Queen has to take after this series of exchanges this Knight is now hanging so I'm able to finally win a piece so this king is now in check let's see where the King goes and after
the King goes anywhere it doesn't matter we're gonna give a little bit of air for the king to make sure we don't get back ranked we want to play very safe so now my opponent is offering some exchanges and because we are at peace up we want to exchange as um as our opponent will have less pieces to defend with if we exchange so constantly you guys can see I'm bringing my pieces to squares where they're defended I'm going night over here but because I know that my knight is offended here I'm not even contemplating
going night over here because yes one it would be taken by this Rook but there's no piece that's right now defending the night there so that's why this is really important and now my opponent is doing a big mistake which is to put the king in the same file as my Rook which would open for what we call Discovery checks checks where well there's the discovery of this other attack you guys will see what I mean so let's go and see what kinds of those checks we have there's actually not really any good check but
because this Knight is under attack I'm gonna go Knight over here this is a jack and now if the king moves here we had a fork but the king does not do that instead it's time for us now to go ahead and start bringing up our King because the king is really important in end games it's crucial to have the king active in an end game so now what I'm gonna do is that we are going to go ahead and maybe just start pushing our pawns defend everything everything is nice and defended right now that
we don't have any piece that's undefended our Pawn is defended our Knight is defended we're gonna go ahead and exchange her now and now we can go for this check why because our Knight is defended we only move the pieces to squares where they're defended okay what is the only Square I can go towards defend that I'm not gonna go for crazy what's the word should not okay I don't know the word I have a crazy random stuff and put my knight in a square it's not defended no I'm gonna go back with my knight
to square words defend it and like that I can never lose a piece it's yeah it's actually quite simple um we're just gonna go ahead and exchange over here and now I'm gonna place my Rook right in front of the pawn so that my opponent cannot promote this Pawn because this Pawn is now the biggest weakness that I have in my position this Pawn is the only way that my opponent can win if I allowed this Pawn to promote to a queen so I want to have my rook in the promotion Square aka the square
where the pawn will promote to and now I'm simply going to put my Rook right in front of the pawn so that this Pawn cannot push and now after the king moves I can see that actually um let's go ahead and see I'm gonna go ahead and bring my king in here my work is defending this and now it's time for us after F5 we can see that actually yes I could take her but actually we also have a little Forex so I am placing my knight in a square where it's undefended but it's because
I'm seeing that there's a fork where I immediately I'm able to place my knight in this Square where it is defended by the pawn very important so of course there's Sometimes some sort of uh differences to the rule but you know it typically only applies to when the piece is on your side of the board so now this king is attacking this Pawn I'm going to defend it look at how good all my pieces are defended and now I'm gonna bring in my king which is the final piece that we haven't really brought in so
I'm not sure where my opponent is going to go okay now my opponent decides to sacrifice so we will just simply take back and now we take this pawn my opponent didn't really know what to do now we're gonna keep this Rook right in front of this king I don't want to let the king go up um so we're basically cutting off the king that is the term that is how we call it I'm cutting off the king I'm not letting the king come to my side of the board and then I'm simply going to
bring my king closer we are checking or cutting off the King again on this side I'm pushing the king back and now I'm going to be capturing this Pawn now after this I'm cutting off the king over here basically meaning that I'm not letting the king go over here which means that I can push this pawn and now the number one thing you need to be careful about is not stalem mating so what I would do in this position oh now my opponent okay now my opponent resigns but I was gonna say that after F7
and King here yeah I realized that what I would do is just make here a rook and make sure that there is you know a square for the king available and then there's Rook Checkmate so in this game we can see my opponent actually played really really well those are fantastic game by them and it was not clear how or it wasn't a clear tactic that I did to win but because I knew that my queen my opponent's Queen was unprotected I could see that there were tactics in that position so I hope that this
was educational for you I hope that you learned something please remember never move your pieces to squares where they are unprotected always make sure that when you're bringing a piece somewhere that that piece is already protected by something else and if you don't really make sure that there's no way for your opponent to capture that piece in that square and go ahead and protect your piece the move after thank you guys so much for watching this video and I'll see you all in the next one
