if you're uploading long form content or if you're uploading short form content when you upload short form content to YouTube you can put those hashtags after your title in the actual title section but you shouldn't be doing this if you're uploading long for Content when you upload long form content to YouTube you should have no hashtags in your title you should only have hashtags at the end of your description I know a lot of you have been getting confused with this and have been hearing my videos and saying rob but in one video you said

don't use hashtags and in the other video you said you should be using hashtags and the reason that you were confused is because you weren't separating the two with shorts put hashtags in your title with long form don't put hashtags in your title put them in your description ideally at the end of your description secondly though we need to talk about how many how many hashtags you should actually be using and again this is going to change whether you're uploading shorts or if you're uploading long form content when it comes to uploading shorts there are

three hashtag strategies you need to use and the last one I'm going to share with you by far makes the most small accounts on YouTube go viral but when it comes to long form content ideally you want to just use three hashtags I wouldn't use less than that and I wouldn't use more than that you want to make sure that you're choosing three hashtags that are the largest hashtags that you can choose and you want to make sure that they're ones that people are actually interacting with when they go to YouTube Here's how you can

figure that out so basically all you want to do is you want to do this on a computer you want to come into your description on YouTube you want to just type in hashtag and then start typing something in for example this video right here is about how to go viral on Instagram so I might type in something like Instagram res and then what we'll see is that this has been used in 1.4 million videos that is a very good sign so we're going to click that right there next I might type in something like

Instagram reals viral we're going to see that only 27,000 videos have actually used this tag so I wouldn't use this tag let's try something else maybe Instagram algorithm and then there we'll see that that was used in 7.3k videos which is even worse so I'm just going to come back and I'm going to type in just Instagram and now this is going to show me a bunch of things related to this for example I might just use # Instagram and then # Instagram YouTube or # Instagram real because the most people are using this and

that is a sign that YouTube will have the biggest audience for content content that actually uses these hashtags because if you use hashtags that are way too small it's actually going to decrease the reach that you're getting but remember that only applies to long form content and putting hashtags in your description when it comes to putting hashtags in your title on YouTube shorts here are the three hashtag strategies you want to make sure that you're using the first one is going to be three postp specific hashtags the second is going to be hashtag shorts and

one post specific hashtag and then finally you could use four to five hashtags but please please please do not use four 4 to five really long hashtags you want to make sure that when you use four to five hashtags that they are smaller hashtags in fact this is doing a really good job of helping the YouTube algorithm find an audience for your content if you're a small Channel on YouTube but I cannot emphasize this enough the number of hashtags you use or the number of characters that they have should not exceed the length of your

title except if there's this one scenario and that one exception to this rule is what we see right here so you will see right here that they used a ton of hashtags in here but the only reason they were able to use a ton of hashtags and still successfully go viral is because this title couldn't have gotten any longer this literally just says Kendrick's new hit song So What is this so what is this quy about it's about his new hit song and showing the music video for that and this worked because you couldn't have

not just using the same hashtags over and over again because that that is going to look like spam to YouTube ideally you should have 10 to 12 Big hashtags in your Niche that you can cycle through depending on what you're posting about and this is going to help you maximize your reach when it comes to using hashtags correctly on YouTube but I do want to warn you you can use hashtags the right way but you also need to make sure that you are setting up your descriptions correctly and that you are using tags the right

way because if you mess those things up then doing hashtags the right way is quite frankly going to be completely useless when it comes to tags on YouTube you need to make sure of a few things first and foremost you need to make sure that the keyword that is showing in your title is showing at least five to six times in your text secondly you want to be going after longtail keywords within your tags and I'm going to show you an example of this in just a second and then finally you need to make sure

that you're filling up anywhere from 450 to 500 characters when it comes to tags because you want to make sure that you're giving YouTube as much data as possible to actually know who to show your content to because if you mess this up YouTube is going to show your content to the wrong people they aren't going to watch your video they aren't going to engage with your video and then boom you're going to be stuck at less than 1,000 views which is why this is happening to you if you're stuck at less than 1,000 views
