the Apostle James Jesus wasn't the only one killed in the Bible most of his followers suffered terribly in the years that followed his death James of zebedy was one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus Christ in fact he was one of the three most important followers of Jesus he was part of what's known as Jesus's Inner Circle which consisted of James Peter and John he was also the first of the 12 apostles to follow the Messiah James bore witness to the resurrection of gyrus from the dead in the gospel of Mark he witnessed the Transfiguration
of Jesus in The Gospel of Matthew and he also witnessed the agony of Jesus in The Garden of Gethsemane out of all the apostles James was perhaps the most obsessed with the teachings of Jesus and it was his obsession with the Messiah that led him to be the first of the Apostles to be martyred James is the only Apostle whose martyrdom was described in the Acts of the Apostles it all started when somebody brought charges against him before the Jewish Tribunal 11 years after Jesus Christ was crucified James was put on trial for continuing to
spread the message of the new Christian God King Herod of Judea wasn't having it in his kingdom so James was beheaded but just before the blade fell the person who originally brought charges against him was moved by his faith in Christ he asked James to forgive him and James said Peace be to thee brother then his head was severed I wanted to give a big shout out to Brandy Hines and Hatchet thanks so much for watching and supporting OE if you're new here be sure to subscribe and join the family CIS in the Book of
Judges which can be found in the Old Testament cisar was a commander in the army of King jeban The King had been oppressing the Israelites for 20 years so there was a war between the two kingdoms when Cesar's Army was defeated in battle after Decades of Ruthless tyranny cisar fled the small village of Heber of kenite but hot on his Trail was Barack the commander commander of the Victorious Israelite Army ciser was exhausted and desperately in need of somewhere to lay his head to rest seeking Refuge He Came Upon a house and a woman answered
the door her name was J an Israelite who'd suffered at the hands of cic's brutal soldiers for years seeing an opportunity she allowed the commander to sleep in her home and rest his weary bones but as he slumbered jail got to work plotting his murder as cisar lay asleep jail snuck up on him with a tent steak she then placed the steak gently inside his ear then drove it into his brain with a mallet the Bible says that jail hammered the tent steak straight through the Commander's head partially crushing his skull and pinning him to
the ground it's one of the most ruthless and coldblooded murders found anywhere in the Old Testament there are a few different ways the story has been interpreted by biblical experts some say jail was compelled to Murder cicora By the Holy Spirit to avenge the oppression of the the Israelites however there's another interpretation that says jail took cicar to bed then after exhausting him she killed him in the end though it was a sin that she was absolved of because her ultimate goal was to glorify God Herod Agrippa the first there were several important people in
the Bible named Herod there was Herod the Great who was King of Judea and Lord of the Jews at the time that Jesus was born he tried to have Jesus killed resulting in a massacre of every infant child in Bethlehem there was also Herod Antipas who was king during the ministry of John the Baptist and the ministry of Jesus Herod Antipas executed John the Baptist by removing his head and placing it on a silver platter he'd go on to become one of the greatest opposers of Jesus Christ in the book of Acts Herod Antipas was
one of the men largely responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus because of his persecution of the Apostles but there was another Herod who doesn't get quite as much attention as the other two his name was Herod agripa the first and he was the ruling king of Jerusalem from 41 to 44 ad about a decade after Jesus Christ was killed he was related to the other two herods he was the grandson of Herod the Great and the nephew of Herod Antipas he'd also spent a bit of time in Rome so he was good friends with Emperor
Tiberius he may have been the king of Jerusalem but he was really a porn of the Roman Empire his primary goal in Jerusalem was to keep the peace he was supposed to appease the Jew Jewish population which at the time meant persecuting the followers of Christ you heard earlier how the Apostle James was beheaded by a sword it was Herod agria who was responsible for that decision when the Jews celebrated the death of James Herod decided to continue attacking the apostles he had the Apostle Peter arrested though Peter managed to slip away from prison after
all the persecution and all the beheadings Herod retired to the city of cesaria which was where he met his gruesome demise although there isn't much detail in the Bible other than that he was eaten to death by worms the way it sounds in the book of Acts makes it seem like Herod was overwhelmed by a swarm of worms and consumed within seconds however it's more likely that he had worms in his stomach other testimonies say Herod suffered for 5 days before the parasitic worms finished him off the Levites concubine one of the numerous horrendous deaths
in the Bible the Levites concubine is by by far the most brutal of them all the concubine has believed her being a lesser wife of someone from the tribe of levite and by lesser wife I mean she was a secondary wife little more than a mistress the biblical story says that the concubine escaped from her husband only to have the disgruntled husband chase after her but neither of them were specifically named in the Bible when the husband caught up to his concubine they both took refuge in a stranger's home the woman originally escaped from Ephraim
which which was north of Jerusalem she managed to get quite far before her angry husband recaptured her but by the time they headed back toward home the sun had gone down and it was getting late they got stuck in the benjaminite city of gibba where the locals were pure Savages they took refuge in the stranger's home but word had already spread about the lone levite and his woman in foreign territory so before long the house was surrounded by benjaminite men they banged on the door and the windows demanding that the Levites go outside so they
could violate him the benjaminites didn't want the woman they wanted the man the whole village wanted to take turns doing terrible things to him the owner of the home offered the concubine in the man's place but the benjaminites refused and in the end the homeowner and the levite threw her outside anyway what happened to the woman was beyond tragic by the morning she'd been ravaged by all the men in the village but they didn't kill her when the sun came up she appeared on the doorstep of the stranger's House near death the levite then put
her on the back of his donkey and returned to Ephraim and once he had her home he chopped a woman into 12 pieces he sent each piece of the poor concubine through the lands of Israel the Israelites then gathered at mispa to hear the levite story this resulted in the Israelites banding together to slaughter the benjaminite people including their women and children the Bible says that nearly everyone in the city of jabes Gilead was then massive Ed in retaliation for what happened to the Levites mistress Lot's wife in The Book of Genesis a man named
lot fled Egypt with all his worldly possessions and settled in the city of Sodom this was a poor choice though because the men of Sodom were especially Wicked they were some of the worst sinners in the world shortly after his move when lot had married and had children God told Abraham that he was going to punish the Sinners of Sodom and Gomorrah by destroying the cities but Abraham asked God if he would spare the cities if he could find at least 10 righteous men among them God then agreed to this and sent two angels into
the city to look for righteous men there they met lot who gave the Angels a home for the night and fed them but when night fell the men of Sodom became like the benjaminites of giia they surrounded the house and ordered that the strange men come outside so that they could have their way with them they didn't realized that the strange men were in fact angels of God you likely know how this story ends already the Angels were so disturbed by what they discovered in the city of Sodom that they told lot to immediately gather
his family and flee because God was going to destroy it lot then took his wife and their two daughters and fled the Angels warned them not to look back and not to stop running for the mountains would be swept away in God's Fury everybody listened except Lot's wife as they fled to the nearby city of zoah she looked back at Sodom being incinerated by the Lord and for disobeying the Angels she was turned into a pillar of salt it's definitely one of the weirder deaths in the Bible Lot's wife is never named explicitly and nothing
more is known about her but the Bible is very specific when it says that she turned into a giant block of salt just wait though because the story gets even more disturbing after lot and his daughters settled in the city of zoa something truly disgusting happened the eldest daughter was saddened by their mother's passing she was also upset about the fact that their father would bear no Sons so she proposed to her younger sister that they get their father wasted and lie with him so that they could preserve his seed lot's daughters then got him
drunk and he sleeps with both of them in an incestuous three-way lot's daughters eventually give birth to his sons making their sons also their brothers and these Sons would then go on to become the fathers of the moabite and ammonite kingdoms John the Baptist according to all the canonical gospels in in the New Testament John the Baptist was killed by Herod Antipas John the Baptist appeared on the scene before Jesus Christ announcing to the world that God's judgment was soon to arrive John the Baptist was responsible for trying to prepare the world for the coming
of the Messiah after Jesus was born John was the one who baptized him in the Jordan River but much like Jesus John was persecuted for his beliefs Herod Antipas had JN arrested and imprisoned then at the behest of his stepdaughter cut off Jon's head and served it up on a platter nobody knows what became of Jon's head only that it was one of the most sought after religious relics of the Middle Ages there have been four main places that claim to possess the dead Saint's skull the omad mosque in Damascus Syria supposedly held ahead in
the 8th Century ad there's also a skull that's currently on display at the church of San sylvestro in capiche Rome which is said to belong to John the Baptist there's another skull in a cathedral in Aman that was supposedly brought back by a crusader in the year 1206 and finally John's head is also believed to be in Germany's residance Museum but do you think any of these could be the Saints real skull or are they all fakes let us know your thoughts in the comments down below and while you're at it subscribe to the channel
the seven sons in the book of macbes Antiochus IV epiphanies was the ruling Greek king of the CID Empire history confirms that he was a real person who ruled between 175 and 164 BC he's a villain in the Bible That's responsible for many atrocities he once arrested an unarmed woman and Her Seven Sons because of their Jewish beliefs the king also tried to force the seven sons to eat pork which is against Jewish law and when they refused what followed was a horrific session of unspeakable torture while the mother watched each of the seven sons
was brutally murdered the Furious King had the first brother's tongue cut off his skin flayed and all his limbs removed then the limbless skinless man was thrown into a hot frying pan the next brother had his hair ripped out and his skin flayed and the Seven Brothers after that enjoyed a similar fate with each of them being Fayed and thrown into a giant hot frying pan all while their mother was forced to watch the thieves on the cross the Gospel of Luke says that when Jesus Christ was crucified two other men were crucified alongside him
these men are never named anywhere in the Bible the man to his left is known only as an unrepentant Thief while the man on his right is known as the good thief there's been a lot of speculation over who these guys were but the only thing the Bible says for sure is that they were criminals and some Scholars think that the criminals suffered even more Agony than the Messiah since it took far longer for them to die on their crosses the day before the Sabbath Roman soldiers came to check on the bodies Jesus was already
dead but the thieves hanging next to him were not so to expedite their deaths the Roman soldiers broke their legs this would have been excruciating but why did breaking their legs cause the thieves to die quicker it's all about how crucifixion Works to kill the body unlike what you might see in the media nails weren't pounded through the hands because they would rip the flesh instead nails were pounded through the wrists to support the weight of the body hanging by the wrists typically caused the shoulders to dislocate leading to excruciating pain and from this point
on victims of crucifixion could only hold themselves up by flexing their knees this allowed them to lift themselves just a little enough to inhale using their knees to flex and breathe allowed victims of crucifixion to remain on the cross for days but when the thieves next to Jesus had their legs broken they couldn't Flex their knees anymore they couldn't lift themselves to breathe and would have suffocated within minutes king jehoram king jehoram ruled the southern Kingdom of Judah from 853 until 841 BC he came into power when he was just 32 years old his father
the ruler before him had been a godly man but jehoram was absolutely not he turned into a wicked and sinful ruler who led his kingdom into an era of idolatry and blasphemy the king's wickedness was known throughout the realm but God refrained from punishing him at first because of a previous Covenant he'd made with King David not to destroy Judah the Covenant lasted until God grew sick and tired of the Unspeakable acts being committed by jehoram and finally God acted he allowed the Philistines and Arabs to attack Judah there was a great Invasion the king's
Palace was sacked and his sons and wives were kidnapped then God struck down jehoram in a rather bizarre way giving him an incurable bowel disease that the age of 40 jehoram died a long gruesome and agonizing death the Bible says that king jehoram passed away when his bowels literally fell out of his body some Scholars have suggested that his illness was an early form of colon cancer likely relating to an issue with a rectal prolapse which biblical death do you think was the absolute most horrific let us know your thoughts in the comments down below
