in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth the Earth was Barren with no form of life it was under a roaring ocean covered with Darkness but the spirit of God was moving over the water the first day God said I command light to shine and light started shining God looked at the light and saw that it was good he separated light from darkness and named the light day and the Darkness night evening came then morning that was the first day day the second day God said I command a dome to separate the water
above it from the water below it and that's what happened God made the Dome and named it Sky evening came then morning that was the second day the third day God said I command the water under the sky to come together in one place so there will be dry ground and that's what happened god named the dry ground land and he named the water ocean God looked at what he had done and saw that it was good God said I command the Earth to produce all kinds of plants including fruit trees and Grain and that's
what happened the Earth produced all kinds of vegetation God looked at what he had done and it was good evening came then morning that was the third day the fourth day God said I command lights to appear in the sky and to separate day from night and to show the time for Seasons special days and years I command them to shine on the earth and that's what happened God God made two powerful lights the brighter one to rule the day and the other to rule the night he also made the stars then God put these
lights in the sky to shine on the earth to rule day and night and to separate light from Darkness God looked at what he had done and it was good evening came then morning that was the fourth day the fifth day God said I command the ocean to be full of living creatures and I command birds to fly above the Earth so God made the giant sea monsters and all the living creatures that swim in the ocean he also made every kind of bird God looked at what he had done and it was good then
he gave the living creatures his Blessing he told the ocean creatures to increase and live everywhere in the ocean and the birds to increase everywhere on Earth evening came then morning that was the fifth day the sixth day God said I command the Earth to give life to all kinds of tame animals wild animals and reptiles and that's what happened God made every one of them then he looked at what he had done and it was good God said now we will make humans and they will be like us we will let them rule the
fish the birds and all other living creatures so God created humans to be like himself he made men and women God gave them his Blessing and said have a lot of children fill the Earth with people and bring it under your control rule over the fish in the ocean the birds in the sky sky and every animal on the earth I have provided all kinds of fruit and grain for you to eat and I have given the green plants as food for everything else that breathes including animals both wild and tame and birds and so
it was God looked at what he had done all of it was very good evening came then morning that was the sixth day so the heavens and the Earth and everything else were created by the seventh day God had finished his work and so he rested God blessed the seventh day and made it special because on that day he rested from his work that's how God created the heavens and the Earth when the Lord God made the heavens and the Earth no grass or plants were growing anywhere God had not yet sent any rain and
there was no one to work the land but streams came up from the ground and watered the Earth the Lord God took some soil from the ground and made a man God breathed life into the man and the man started breathing the Lord made a garden in a place called Eden which was in the East and he put the man there the Lord God filled the garden with all kinds of beautiful trees and fruit trees two other trees were in the middle of the garden one of these gave life the other gave the wisdom to
know the difference between right and wrong from Eden a river flowed out to water the garden then it divided into four rivers the first one is the pishon river that flows through the land of Hava where pure gold rare perfumes and precious stones are found the second is the guon river that winds through Ethiopia the Tigris river that flows east of Assyria is the third and the fourth is the Euphrates River the Lord God put the man in the Garden of Eden to take care of it and to look after it but the Lord told
him you may eat fruit from any tree in the garden except the one that has the power to let you know the difference between right and wrong if you eat any fruit from that tree you will die before the day is over the Lord God said it isn't good for the man to live alone I will make a suitable partner for him so the Lord took some soil and made animals and birds he brought them to the man to see what names he would give each of them then the man named the tame animals and
the birds and the wild animals that's how they got their names none of these was the right kind of partner for the man so the Lord God made him fall into a deep sleep and he took out one of the man's ribs then after closing the man man's side the Lord made a woman out of the rib the Lord God brought her to the man and the man exclaimed here is someone like me she is part of my body my own Flesh and Bones she came from me a man so I will name her woman
that's why a man will leave his own father and mother he marries a woman and the two of them become like one person although the man and his wife were both naked they were not ashamed the snake was sneakier than any of the other wild animals that the Lord God had made one day it came to the woman and asked did God tell you not to eat fruit from any tree in the garden the woman answered God said we could eat fruit from any tree in the garden except the one in the middle he told
us not to eat fruit from that tree or even to touch it if we do we will die no you won't the snake replied God understands what will happen on the day you eat fruit from that tree you will see what you have done and you will know the difference between right and wrong just as God does the woman stared at the fruit it looked beautiful and tasty she wanted the wisdom that it would give her and she ate some of the fruit her husband was there with her so she gave some to him and
he ate it too at once they saw what they had done and they realized they were naked then they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves late in the afternoon when the breeze began to blow the man and woman heard the Lord God walking in the garden so they hid behind some trees the Lord God called out to the man and asked where are you the man answered I was naked and when I heard you walking through the garden I was frightened and hid how did you know you were naked God asked did you eat
any fruit from that tree in the middle of the garden it was the woman you put here with me the man said she gave me some of the fruit and I ate it the Lord God then asked the woman what have you done the snake tricked me she answered and I ate some of that fruit so the Lord God said to the snake because of what you have done you will be the only animal to suffer this curse for as long as you live you will crawl on your stomach and eat dirt you and this
woman will hate each other your descendants and hers will always be enemies one of hers will strike you on the head and you will strike him on the heel then the Lord God said to the woman you will suffer terribly when you give birth but you will still desire your husband and he will rule over you the Lord said to the man you listen to your wife and ate the fruit I told you not to eat and so the ground will be under a curse because of what you did as long as you live you
will have to struggle to grow enough food your food will be plants but the ground will produce thorns and thistles you will sweat all your life to earn a living you were made out of soil and will once again turn into soil the man Adam named his wife Eve because she would become the mother of all who live then the Lord God made clothes out of animal skins for the man and his wife the Lord said they now know the difference between right and wrong just as we do but they must not be allowed to
eat fruit from the tree that lets them live forever so the Lord God sent them out of the Garden of Eden where they would have to work the ground from which the man had been made then God put winged creatur creatures at the entrance to the garden and a flaming flashing sword to guard the way to the life-giving tree Adam and Eve had a son then Eve said I'll name him Cain because I got him with the help of the Lord later she had another son and named him Abel Abel became a sheep farmer but
Cain farmed the land one day Cain gave part of his Harvest to the Lord and Abel also gave an offering to the Lord he killed the firstborn lamb from one of his sheep and gave the Lord the best parts of it the Lord the Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering but not with Cain and his offering this made Cain so angry that he could not hide his feelings the Lord said to Cain what's wrong with you why do you look so angry if you had done the right thing I would have accepted your
offering but you did the wrong thing and now sin is waiting to attack you like a lion sin wants to destroy you but don't let it Cain said to his brother able let's go for a walk and when they were out in a field Cain attacked and killed him afterwards the Lord asked Cain where is Abel how should I know he answered am I supposed to look after my brother then the Lord said why have you done this terrible thing you killed your own brother and his blood flowed onto the ground now his blood is
calling out for me to punish you and so I'll put you under a curse because you killed Abel and made his blood run out on the ground you will never be able to farm it again when you try to farm the land it won't produce anything for you from now on you'll be without a home and you'll spend the rest of your life wandering from place to place this punishment is too hard Cain said you're making me leave my home and live far from you I will have to wander about without a home and just
anyone could kill me no the Lord answered anyone who kills you will be punished seven times worse than I am punishing you so the Lord put a mark on Cain to warn everyone not to kill him but Cain had to go far from the Lord and live in the land of wandering which is East of Eden more and more people were born until finally they spread all over the Earth Angels saw how beautiful the humans daughters were and they decided to take any daughters they wanted as their wives then the Lord said I won't let
my life-giving breath remain in anyone forever no one will live for more than 120 years whenever the Angels would have sex with the human's daughters the women bore them children who became Giants they were called Nephilim and lived on the earth at that time and even later they were well known among people for being Warriors the Lord saw how bad the people on Earth were and that everything they thought and planned was evil and he said I'm going to destroy every person on Earth I'll even wipe out animals birds and reptiles I'm sorry I ever
made them but the Lord was pleased with Noah and this is the story about him Noah was the only person who lived right and obeyed God he had three sons son Shem ham and jath they lived at a time when the world had become vile and corrupt violence was everywhere God saw that the Earth was in Ruins and he knew why all people on earth except Noah had lived corrupt lives and ruined God's plans for them he had to do something so he told Noah I have decided to wipe out all the living creatures I
have made because they are spreading violence throughout the Earth watch I will destroy them with the earth I want you to build an ark build it out of Cypresswood make rooms in the ark and cover it inside and outside with tar here's how you will do it build the ark 450 ft long 75 ft wide and 45 ft High put a roof on the ark and leave a gap of 18 in below the roof line for air to circulate put the door of the Ark in its side and build it with lower middle and upper
decks I'm going to send a flood that will destroy everything that breathes nothing will be left alive but I solemnly promise that you you your wife your sons and your daughters-in-law will be kept safe in the boat take into the boat with you a male and a female of every kind of animal and bird as well as a male and a female of every reptile I don't want them to be destroyed store up enough food both for yourself and for them Noah did everything God told him to do the Lord told Noah take your whole
family with you into the boat because you are the only one on this Earth who pleases me take seven pairs of every kind of animal that can be used for sacrifice and one pair of all others also take seven pairs of every kind of bird with you do this so there will always be animals and birds on the Earth 7 days from now I will send rain that will last for 40 days and nights and I will destroy all other living creatures I have made Noah was 600 years old when he went into the boat
to escape the flood and he did everything the Lord had told him to do 7 Days Later a flood began to cover the Earth the water under the Earth earth started gushing out everywhere the sky opened like Windows and Rain poured down for 40 days and nights all this began on the 17th day of the second month of the year on that day Noah and his wife went into the boat with their three sons Shem ham and jath and their wives they took along every kind of animal tame and wild including the birds Noah took
a male and a female of every living creature with him just as God had told him to do and when they were all in the boat the Lord closed the door for 40 days the rain poured down without stopping and the water became deeper and deeper until the boat started floating high above the ground finally the mighty flood was so deep that even the highest mountain peaks were about 22 ft below the surface of the water not a bird animal reptile or human was Left Alive anywhere on Earth the Lord destroyed everything that breathed nothing
was left alive except Noah and the others in the boat 150 days later the Water started going down Noah was now 601 years old and by the first day of that year almost all the water had gone away Noah made an opening in the roof of the boat and saw that the ground was getting dry by the 27th day of the second month the Earth was completely dry God said to Noah you your wife your sons and your daughters-in-law may now leave the boat let out the birds animals and reptiles so they can mate and
live all over the Earth after Noah and his family had left the boat the living creatures left in groups of Their Own Kind God said to Noah and his sons I'm going to make a solemn promise to you and to everyone who will live after you this includes the birds and the animals that came out of the boat I promise every living creature that the Earth and those living on it will never again be destroyed by a flood the rainbow that I have put in the sky will be my sign to you and to every
living creature on earth it will remind you that I will keep this promise forever when I send clouds over the Earth and a rainbow appears in the sky I will remember my promise to you and to all other living creatures never again will I let flood waters destroy all life when I see the rainbow in the sky I will always remember the promise that I have made to every living creature the rainbow will be the sign of that solemn promise [Music] the descendants of Noah established the first known cultures of the world Humanity speaking the
same language migrated Eastward and settled in Babylonia they decided to build a city with a tower that reached to the heavens as a symbol of their unity and strength the people believed that by constructing this Tower they could make a name for themselves and prevent themselves from being scattered across the Earth the desire to settle in one place and build a city runs counter to God's command to spread out across the Earth they want to make their mark on the world rather than conform to God's plan for their lives they want power and Prestige they
want to ensure that they will not be scattered that is they want to choose their own destiny God observed their actions and recognized their pride and Defiance concerned that their unified efforts would lead to further rebellion and Disobedience God decided to intervene he confounded their language causing confusion among them suddenly they could no longer understand each other's speech and their communication broke down this linguistic confusion resulted in chaos and frustration among the people unable to communicate effectively they abandoned their construction project and Scattered across Ross the Earth as God had intended in the ancient land
of UR lived a man named Abram he would later be known as Abraham his story is a tale of Faith promise and the journey of a man who would become a father to Nations the Lord said to Abram leave your country and your people leave your father's family and go to the country that I will show you I will build a great nation from you I will bless you and make your name famous people will use you your name to bless other people I will bless those who bless you and I will curse those who
curse you I will use you to bless all the people on Earth so Abram left Haron just like the Lord said and lot went with him Abram was 75 years old when he left Haron he took his wife Sarai his nephew lot all the slaves and all the other things he had gotten in Haram then he and his group moved to the land of Canaan Abram traveled through the land as far as the town of sheim and then to the big tree at Mor the Canaanites were living in the land at that time the Lord
appeared to Abram and said I will give this land to your descendants Abram built an altar to honor the Lord who appeared to him there Abram traveled between bethl and I building an altar to Worship the Lord as he continued his journey in the land of Canaan during this time there was not enough food in the land so Abram went down to Egypt to live just before they arrived in Egypt Abram told Sarai look I know that you are a very beautiful woman when the Egyptian men see you they will say this woman is his
wife then they will kill me and keep you alive because they want you so tell them that you are my sister then they will be good to me because of you in this way you will save my life so when Abram went into Egypt the Egyptian men saw that Sarai was a very beautiful woman even some of Pharaoh's officials noticed her and told Pharaoh how beautiful she was so they took her to Pharaoh's house aroh was kind to Abram because he thought Abram was sarai's brother he gave Abram sheep cattle donkeys camels and men and
women servants Pharaoh took Abram's wife so the Lord caused pharaoh and all the people in his house to have very bad diseases Pharaoh called Abram and said to him what have you done to me why didn't you tell me Sarai was your wife why did you make me believe she was your sister now I've married her take her and go she's your wife so the Pharaoh told his men to let Abram and Sarai take their possessions and leave Egypt so Abram left Egypt he traveled through the Nega with his wife and everything he owned lot
was also with them at this time Abram was very rich he had many animals and much silver and gold Abram continued traveling [Music] around during this time lot was also traveling with Abram lot also had sheep goats and cattle as well as his own family and slaves the land was no longer large enough to support both Abram and lot living together as one household they each had so many possessions that they just couldn't stay together any longer the Shepherds of Abram and lot began to argue Abram said to lot let's not fight I don't want
there to be any animosity between you and me after all we're family and our men shouldn't be fighting one another it is time for us to go our separate ways you choose your land if you choose East I'll go west if you choose West I'll go east it's your call lot looked and saw the whole Jordan Valley he saw that there was much water there so lot chose to live in the Jordan Valley the two men separated and lot began traveling East Abram stayed in the land of Canaan and lot lived among the cities in
the valley lot moved as far as Sodom and made his Camp there given their recent experiences in the famine lot chooses the Lush fertile soils of the Jordan Valley for his new home but as lot moves his family East he moves farther from Abram and closer to Danger after Abram and lot had gone their separate ways the Lord said to Abram look around to the north south east and west I will give you and your family all the land you can see it will be theirs forever I will give you more descendants than there are
specks of dust on the Earth and someday it will be easier to count those specks of dust than to count your descendants now walk back and forth across the land because I'm going to give it to you Abram took down his tents and went to live near the sacred trees of mm at Hebron where he built an altar in honor of the Lord after some time passed Four Kings from the East fought against five Kings from the Canaan region the Four Kings defeated the five Kings and then took everything of value from Sodom and Gomorrah
including Their Food Supplies they also captured a ab's nephew lot who lived in Sodom they took him and his possessions and then left then one of the men who had escaped the battle went and found Abram he told Abram what had happened as soon as Abram heard that his nephew had been taken prisoner he gathered a company of his most reliable and best trained men there were 318 of them all born in his household and pursued the enemy as far north as Dan when he caught up with them Abram divided up his men surrounded the
enemy and attacked them during the night he and his soldiers crushed the Invaders and pursued any survivors all the way to hoba north of Damascus after the battle Abram recovered all the spoils the enemy had taken and brought them back with him he rescued his nephew lot and brought him back along with lot's possessions and the women and everyone else who had been captured after the battle Abram decided to head back home on his way home the king of Sodom went out to meet him in the valley of Shava this is now called King's Valley
the king of Sodom told Abram give me my people who were captured but you can keep everything else but Abram said to the king of Sodom I promise to the Lord the god most high the one who made Heaven and Earth I promise that I will not keep anything that is yours not even a thread or a Sandal strap I don't want you to say I made Abram Rich the only thing I will accept is the food that my young men have eaten but you should give the other men their share take what we won
in battle and give some to my friends who help me in the [Music] battle the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision Abram don't be afraid I will protect you and reward you greatly but Abram answered Lord all powerful you have given me everything I could ask for except children and when I die Eleazar of Damascus will get all I own you have not given me any children and this servant of mine will inherit everything the Lord replied no he won't you will have a son of your own and everything you have will be his
then the Lord took Abram outside and said look at the sky and see if you can count the Stars that's how many descendants you will have Abram believed the Lord so the Lord was pleased with him and accepted him to establish the Covenant God instructs Abraham to bring specific animals and Abraham arranges them for a ritual during this ritual God foretells the future suffering and eventual return of ab Abraham's descendants to the land of Canaan ultimately reaffirming his Covenant with Abraham and promising the land as an inheritance for his descendants despite God's promise years went
by still Abram's wife Sarai remained childless but she did have an Egyptian servant girl whose name was Hagar Sarai had an idea so she approached her husband the Lord has not allowed me to have children so sleep with my slave maybe she can have a son and I will accept him as my own Abram agreed so after living 10 years in the land of Canaan Sarai gave her Egyptian slave to Abram as a second wife Abram slept with Hagar and she became pregnant when Hagar realized this she became very proud and began to feel that
she was better than Sarai her owner Sarai would not tolerate her servant looking down on her so she approached Abram again and said this is all your fault I allowed my servant girl to be intimate with you and as soon as she saw she was pregnant with your child she started behaving arrogantly disrespectfully toward me I have done nothing to deserve this you have done me wrong and you will have to answer to the Lord for this Abram said all right she's your slave do whatever you want with her then Sarai began treating Hagar so
harshly that she finally ran away Hagar stopped to rest at a spring in the desert on the road to Shure while she was there the angel of the Lord came to her and asked Hagar where have you come from and where are you going Hagar said I'm running away from Sarai the angel said Hagar go back to Sarai and change your attitude be respectful and listen to her instructions you're pregnant and you need to go home the angel of the Lord also said from you will come many people too many people to count you will
have a son you will name him Ishmael because the Lord has heard that you were treated badly just to warn you though ishmail your son is going to be a wild and Rowdy man he'll put his fist in every face and every one will turn against him and he will live at odds with all of his relatives so Hagar returned home and gave birth to Abram's son Abram named his son Ishmael Abram was already 86 years old when Hagar gave birth to [Music] Ishmael when Abram was 99 years old God changed Abram's name to Abraham
signifying his role as the father of many nations sarai's name is changed to Sarah and God promises she will bear a son named Isaac God institutes circumcision for all males as a symbol of the Covenant and Abraham OBS immediately circumcising himself his son ishmail and all his male servants later the Lord again appeared to Abraham God informs Abraham about the impending destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah due to their wickedness Abraham pleads with God to spare the cities if even a small number of righteous people are found within them God agrees to spare the cities if
there are at least 10 righteous individuals that evening two angels came to the city of Sodom lot was sitting near the city Gates and saw them he got up and went to them he bowed to show respect and said sir please come to my house and I will serve you there you can wash your feet and stay the night then tomorrow you can continue your journey the Angels answered no we will stay the night in the city square but lot persisted and urged them to come home with him and enjoy his hospitality they agreed finally
and came with lot to his house lot prepared a huge meal for them served with unleavened bread and they ate until they were full that evening just before bedtime men from every part of town came to lot's house they stood around the house and called to lot they said where are the men who came with you to your house tonight we saw them go in with you bring them out here we want to have sex with them lot slipped out of the door to address the men shutting it firmly behind him then he said friends
please don't do such a terrible thing I have two daughters who have never had sex I'll bring them out and you can do what you want with them but please don't do anything to these men they are my guests they deserve the protection of my home don't get in our way the crowd answered you're a foreigner what right do you have to order us around we'll do worse things to you than we're going to do to them the crowd kept arguing with lot finally they rushed toward the door to break it it down but the
two angels in the house reached out and pulled lot safely inside then the Angels struck all of the men pressing at the door with blindness so the men trying to get in the house could not find the door the two men said to lot are there any other people from your family living in this city do you have any sons-in-law sons daughters or any other people from your family here if so you should tell them to leave now we are going to destroy this city the Lord heard how evil this city is so he sent
us to destroy [Music] [Applause] it lot went to the men who were engaged to his daughters and said hurry up and get out of here the Lord is going to destroy this city but they thought he was joking and they laughed at him early the next morning the two angels tried to make lot hurry and leave they said take your wife and your two daughters and get away from here as fast as you can if you don't every one of you will be killed when the Lord destroys the city lot answered there's a town near
here called zoer it's only a small place but my family and I will be safe if you let us go there all right go there he answered as a favor to you I won't destroy the little city you're talking about but hurry now Escape there because I can't do anything until you arrive there safely lot and his family arrived in zoa just as the sun was coming up and the Lord began to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah he caused fire and burning sulfur to fall from the sky he destroyed both cities along with the other Villages
and towns in the valley and all of the people who lived there even the vegetation was wiped out but Lot's wife never made it she lagged behind her husband and looked back despite the Angel's advice and turned into a pillar of salt early the next morning Abraham got up and went to the place where he stood before the Lord Abraham looked down into the valley toward the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah he saw clouds of smoke rising from the land like smoke from a furnace when God destroyed the cities of the valley where lot lived
he remembered his promise to Abraham and saved lot from the terrible destruction lot was afraid to stay in zoah so he and his two daughters went to live in the mountains in a cave one day the older daughter said to the younger everywhere on the earth men and women marry and have a family but our father is old and there are no men around here to give us children so let's get our father drunk with wine then we can have sex with him that way we can use our father to keep our family alive the
next day the older daughter said to the younger daughter I did it I slept with our father last night now it's your turn let's get him drunk again tonight then you go in and sleep with him too that way we'll both have children through our father to ensure our family will not come to an end so that night the two girls got their father drunk with wine then the younger daughter went and had sexual relations with him but once again he was too drunk even to know she was there that's how lot's two daughters had
children the older daughter named her son Moab who is the ancestor of the moabites the younger daughter named her son benami and he is the ancestor of the [Music] ammonites after the destruction of Sodom and gomorah Abraham moved to the southern desert where he settled between cadesh and Shure later he went to gar since he was living in gar as a foreigner Abraham once again told everyone that his wife Sarah was his sister so king aimc of gar had Sarah brought to him but God came to aimc in a dream and said you have taken
a married woman into your home and for this you will die aimc said to the Lord don't kill me I haven't slept with Sarah didn't they say they were brother and sister I am completely innocent then God said to AMC in a dream yes I know that you are innocent and that you did not know what you were doing I saved you I did not allow you to sin against me I was the one who did not allow you to sleep with her so give Abraham his wife again he is a prophet he will pray
for you and you will live but if you don't give Sarah back to him I promise that you will die and all your family will die with you so very early the next morning aimc called all his servants and told them about the dream the servants were very afraid then aimc called Abraham and said to him why have you done this to us what wrong did I do to you why did you lie and say that she was your sister you brought great trouble to my kingdom you should not have done this to me what
were you afraid of why did you do this to me Abraham answered I did it because I didn't think any of you respected God and I was sure that someone would kill me to get my wife besides she is my half sister we have the same father but different mothers when God made us leave my father's home and start wandering I told her if you really love me then tell everyone that I am your brother after aimc had given Abraham some sheep cattle and slaves he sent Sarah back and told Abraham he could settle anywhere
in his country then he said to Sarah I have given your brother 1,000 pieces of silver as proof to everyone that you have done nothing wrong meanwhile God had kept AMC's wife and slaves from having children but Abraham prayed and God let them start having children again after living in gerar for a year Abraham and Sarah had a son and they named him [Music] Isaac the Lord was good to Sarah and kept his promise although Abraham was very old Sarah had a son exactly at the time God had said Abraham named his son Isaac and
when the boy was 8 days old Abraham circumcised him just as God had commanded Abraham was 100 years old when his son Isaac was born Sarah said God has made me happy and everyone who hears about this will be happy with me no one thought that I Sarah would be able to have Abraham's child but I have given Abraham a son even though he is old Isaac continued to grow and soon he was old enough to begin eating solid food so Abraham threw a big party but a damper was put on the day when Sarah
saw ishmail the son of Hagar laughing and teasing her son Sarah said to Abraham get rid of that slave woman and her son send them away when we die our son Isaac will get everything we have I don't want that slave woman's son sharing these things with my son Isaac this upset Abraham very much he was worried about his son ishma but God said to Abraham don't worry about the boy and the slave woman do what Sarah wants your descendants will be those who come through Isaac but I will also bless the son of your
slave woman he is your son so I will make a great nation from his family also early the next morning Abraham took some food and water and gave them to Hagar she carried them and left with her boy she left that place and wandered in the desert of berseba after some time when all their drinking water was gone Hagar put her son under a bush then she walked a short distance away and sat down she thought her son would die because there was no water she did not want to watch him die she sat there
and began to cry God heard the boy crying and God's angel called to Hagar from Heaven Hagar Don't Be Afraid God has heard the boy crying there he said go help the boy hold his hand and lead him I will make him the father of many people then God allowed Hagar to see a well of water so she went to the well and filled her bag with water then she gave water to the boy to drink God continued to be with the boy while he grew up ishma lived in the desert and became a hunter
he learned to shoot a bow very well his mother found a wife for him in Egypt they continued to live in the parent [Music] desert after a period of time God decided to put Abraham to the test then God said take your son your only son Isaac whom I know you love deeply and go to the land of mar when you get there I want you to offer Isaac to me as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will show you which one so Abraham got up early the next morning and chopped wood
for the fire he put a saddle on his donkey and set out with Isaac and two servants for the place where God had told him to go after they traveled 3 days Abraham looked up and in the distance he saw the place where they were going then he said to his servants stay here with the donkey the boy and I will go to that place and worship ship then we will come back to you later Abraham put the wood on Isaac's shoulder but he carried the hot coals in the knife as the two of them
walked along Isaac said father we have the coals in the wood but where is the Lamb for the sacrifice my son Abraham answered God will provide the lamb the two of them walked on and when they reached the place that God had told him about Abraham built an altar and placed the wood on it next he tied up his son and put him on the wood just as Abraham reached over to grab the knife that would kill his son the angel of the Lord stopped him the angel called from heaven and said Abraham Abraham here
I am he answered don't hurt the boy or harm him in any way the angel said now I know that you truly obey God because you were willing to offer him your only son Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in the bushes so he took the RAM and sacrificed it instead of his son and Abraham named that place the Lord will provide then Abraham returned to the place where he left his trusted servants they traveled together Abraham Isaac and his servants back to basiba where Abraham lived on for some time
Abraham's Saga concludes with his wife Sarah passing away at the age of 127 at that time Abraham's servant is sent to find a suitable wife for Isaac who is 37 years old leading to the meeting with Rebecca who becomes Isaac's wife Abraham remarried and had six Sons with his new wife coutura Abraham died at the ripe old age of 175 his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him beside his wife Sarah [Music] Isaac was the son of Abraham and he was 40 years old when he married Rebecca almost 20 years later Rebecca still had no children
so Isaac asked the Lord to let her have a child and the Lord answered his prayer before Rebecca gave birth she knew she was going to have twins because she could feel them inside her fighting each other she thought why is this happening to me finally she asked the Lord why her twins were fighting and he told her your two sons will become two separate Nations the younger of the two will be stronger and the older son will be his servant when Rebecca gave birth the first baby was covered with red hair so he was
named Esau the second baby grabbed onto his brother's heel so they named him Jacob Isaac was 60 years old when they were born the boys grew up Esau became a skilled Hunter who loved to be out in the fields but Jacob was a quiet man who stayed at home Esau was Isaac's favorite because he was fond of good meat but Jacob was Rebecca's favorite one day Esau came back from hunting he was tired and weak from Hunger Jacob was boiling a pot of beans so Esau said to Jacob I am weak with Hunger let me
have some of that red soup Jacob replied sell me your rights as the firstborn son I'm about to die Esau answered what good will those rights do me but Jacob said promise me your birth rights here and now and that's what Esau did Jacob then gave Esau some bread and some of the bean stew when Esau had finished eating and drinking he just got up and left showing how little he thought of his rights as the first born which usually came with inheriting the largest amount of property as well as the leadership of the family
when Esau was 40 years old he married two hittite women these marriages made Isaac and Rebecca very unhappy when Isaac grew old his eyes were so bad he could see only Shadows he called in his first born son Esau and said I am old and might die at any time so take your bow and arrows and go hunting kill an animal for me to eat prepare the food that I love bring it to me and I will eat it then I will bless you before I die Rebecca had been listening and as soon as Esau
left to go hunting she said to Jacob I heard your father tell Esau to kill a wild animal and cook some tasty food for him before he dies your father said this because he wants to bless your brother with the Lord as his witness now my son listen carefully to what I want you to do go and kill two of your best young goats and bring them to me I'll cook the tasty food that your father loves so much then you can take it to him so he can eat it and give you his Blessing
before he dies my brother Esau is a hairy man Jacob reminded her and I am not if my father touches me and realizes I am trying to trick him he will put a curse on me instead of giving me a blessing Rebecca insisted let his curse fall on me just do what I say and bring me the meat so Jacob brought the meat to his mother and she cooked the tasty food that his father liked then she took Esau's best clothes and put them on Jacob she also covered the smooth part of his hands and
neck with goat skins and gave him some bread and the tasty food she had cooked Jacob disguises himself as his brother Esau to receive his father Isaac's blessing despite Isaac's initial suspicion due to Jacob's voice the deception is successful and Isaac Unknowing ly blesses Jacob with prosperity and Dominion as Jacob departs after receiving the blessing Esau returns with the food for his father and they both realized the deception Esau pleads with his father Isaac to bless him but Isaac explains that he was deceived and has unknowingly blessed Jacob Esau weeps bitterly and asks if there
is any blessing left for him Isaac blesses Esau with a promise of prosperity but foretells that he will serve his brother Jacob and eventually Break Free from that servitude Esau Harbors intense resentment against Jacob for stealing the blessing Esau planned to kill Jacob after Isaac's death prompting Rebecca to advise Jacob to flee to her brother laan's house until Esau stopped being [Music] angry Isaac called in Jacob then gave him a blessing and said don't marry any of those Canaanite women go at once to your mother's father bethuel in Northern Syria and choose a wife from
one of the daughters of laan your mother's brother I pray that God all powerful will bless you with many descendants and let you become a great nation may he bless you with the land he promised Abraham so that you will take over this land where we now live as foreigners Isaac then sent Jacob to stay with Rebecca's brother laan on his journey Jacob stops for the night using a stone for a pillow he dreams of a ladder connecting Heaven and Earth with angels ascending and descending God speaks to Jacob reaffirming the Covenant with his forefathers
and promising him land descendants and blessings Jacob wakes surprised by the encounter and consecrates the place naming it bethl he vows to make God his own and moved by The Experience continues his journey with Newfound purpose and commitment as Jacob arrives in haran he encounters Shepherds at a well he meets Rachel laban's daughter and learns she's his relative Jacob helps water Rachel's flock and is welcomed by Lan when Laban heard the news about his sister son Jacob he ran to meet him Laban hugged him and kissed him and brought him to his house Jacob told
laan everything that had happened then laan said this is wonderful you are from my own family so Jacob stayed with Laban for a month one day Laban said to Jacob you are a relative of mine it is not right for you to continue working for me without pay what should I pay you now laan had two daughters the older was Leah and the younger was Rachel Leah was average at best but Rachel was beautiful Jacob loved Rachel so he said to laan I will work seven years for you if you will allow me to marry
your daughter Rachel laan said it would be better for her to marry you than someone else so stay with me so Jacob stayed and worked for Laban for 7 years but it seemed like a very short time because he l loved Rachel very much after 7 years Jacob said to laan give me Rachel so that I can marry her my time of work for you is finished so laan gave a party for all the people in that place that night laan brought his daughter Leah to Jacob Jacob and Leah had sexual relations together in the
morning Jacob saw that it was Leah he had slept with and he said to laan you have tricked me I worked hard for you so that I could marry Rachel why did you trick me laan said in our country we don't allow the younger daughter to marry before the older daughter continue for the full week of the marriage ceremony and I will also give you Rachel to marry but you must serve me another seven years so Jacob did this and finished the week then laan gave him his daughter Rachel as a wife and Jacob loved
Rachel more than Leah Jacob worked for laan for another seven years [Music] Jacob marries both Leah and Rachel but he loves Rachel more Leah feeling unloved Bears Sons for Jacob Reuben Simeon Levi and Judah Rachel who is initially unable to have children becomes envious of Leah's children and gives her maid servant bhha to Jacob as a wife bhar Bears two sons Dan and naftali on Rachel's behalf Leah in response gives her maid servant Zila to Jacob as well and she Bears two sons Gad and aser Leah conceives two more sons issachar and Zebulon and a

conflict they erect a monument signifying their agreement to not harm each other they part ways and Jacob continues his journey back to Canaan Jacob preparing to meet his estranged brother Esau sends Messengers ahead to inform Esau of his return fearful of Esau's potential anger Jacob prays to God for protection that night he wrestles with a mysterious man or Angel refusing to let go until he receives a blessing the man touches Jacob's hip injuring him but Jacob perseveres and is renamed Israel signifying his struggle and victory Jacob and Esau meet after many years of separation Jacob
apprehensive about the encounter approaches Esau with humility and respect to Jacob's surprise Esau Embraces him warmly and the brothers reconcile Jacob presents gifts to Esau as a gesture of Good Will Esau initially refuses the gifts but accepts them eventually the Brothers part ways amicably with Esau returning to Seer and Jacob settling in [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Sako Dina the daughter of Jacob and Leah went to visit some of the women who lived nearby she was seen by sheam the son of hmer the HIIT who ruled that area sheim took Dina and raped her but
he was so attracted to her that he fell in love and began expressing his feelings to her sheam even asked his father to arrange for him to marry her now Jacob found out that sheam had Dishonored and raped his daughter Dina but at the time all of his sons were out in the field working with the livest so Jacob stayed calm and did not react until they came back meanwhile hmer sheck's father had come to speak with Jacob to arrange a marriage as Jacob's sons were coming in from work when they learned what happened their
sister they became furiously angry Hammer said to Jacob and his sons my son sheam really loves Dina please let him marry her why don't you start letting your families marry into our families and ours marry into yours you can share this land with us move freely about until you find the property you want then buy it and settle down here sheam added do this favor for me and I'll give whatever you want ask anything no matter how expensive I'll do anything just let me marry Dina Jacob's sons were still angry that sheam had defiled their
sister Dina so they answered him and his father hammered deceitfully We can't agree to this arrangement to give our sister to someone who isn't circumcised would bring shame on all of us but we will let you marry her if you and the other men in your tribe agree to be circumcised then your families can marry into ours and ours can marry into yours and we can live together like one nation but if you don't agree to be circumcised we'll take Dina and leave this place ha and his son sheam were willing to go along with
the demand sheam was the most respected person in his family and he was so in love with Dina that he hurried off to get everything done the two men met with the other leaders of their city and told them these people really are friendly why not let them move freely about until they find the property they want there's enough land here for them and for us then our families can marry into theirs and theirs can marry into ours but there is one thing that all our men must agree to do they must agree to be
circumcised as they are if we do this we will become rich from all their cattle and other animals we should make this agreement with them so that they will stay here with us every grown man followed this advice and got circumcised 3 days later when the men of the city were still in pain two of Jacob's sons Dina's Brothers Simeon and Levi took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting people of the city killing all of the men they killed hammer and his son sheam with the sword as well they took Dina out of sheck's house
where she had remained during the negotiations and then went away Jacob's other son saw those who were killed and they plundered the city all of this was done in anger because it was here that their sister had been assaulted they took all of the flocks herds donkeys and whatever was in the city in the field all of their wealth all of their children and all of their wives everything they could find in the houses they plundered and made it their own but Jacob said to Simeon and Levi you have caused me a lot of trouble
all the people in this place will hate me all the Canaanites and the parasites will turn against me there are only a few of us if the people in this place gathered together to fight against us I will be destroyed and all our people will be destroyed with me but the brother said should we let these people treat our sister like a prostitute they were wrong to do that to our [Music] sister Jacob's return to bethl a place significant to him because of previous encounters with God following the distressing events after Dina's incident in sheam
God instructs Jacob to return to bethl and build an altar there Jacob commands his household to rid themselves of foreign gods and purify themselves emphasizing their commitment to God as they Journey a sense of fear falls upon the surrounding cities and God protects Jacob and his people during their travels Rachel Jacob's beloved wife goes into labor and delivers her second son Benjamin sadly Rachel dies during child birth and is buried near Bethlehem Jacob erects a pillar at Rachel's grave as a lasting Memorial reaching bethl Jacob Builds an altar and God blesses him reaffirming his name
as Israel reiterating the Covenant of numerous descendants and the possession of the land in the midst of this Jacob's oldest son Reuben slept with bilha who was one of Jacob's other wives this act violates familial honor and results in Ruben losing his rights as the firstborn Jacob went to his father Isaac at Hein where Isaac's Father Abraham had lived as a foreigner Isaac died at the ripe old age of 180 and then his sons Esau and Jacob buried [Music] him Jacob stayed and lived in the land of Canaan this is the same land where his
father had lived Joseph was a young man 17 years old his job was to take care of the sheep and the goats Joseph did this work with his brothers Joseph told his father about the bad things that his brothers did Joseph was born at a time when his father Israel was very old so Israel loved him more than he loved his other Sons Jacob gave him a special coat which was long and very beautiful when Joseph's brothers saw that their father loved Joseph more than he loved them they hated their brother because of this they
refused to say nice things to him one time Joseph had a dream later he told his brothers about this dream and after that his brothers hated him even more Joseph said I had a dream we were all working in the field tying stacks of wheat together then my stack got up it stood there while all of your stacks of wheat made a circle around mine and bowed down to it his brother said do you think this means that you will be a king and rule over him his brothers hated Joseph more now because of the
dreams he had about them then Joseph had another dream and he told his brothers about it he said I had another dream I saw the sun the moon and 11 Stars bowing down to me Joseph also told his father about this dream but his father criticized him his father said what kind of dream is this do you believe that your mother your brothers and I will bow down to you Joseph's brothers continued to be jealous of him but his father thought about all these things and wondered what they could mean one day Joseph's brothers went
to sheam to care for their father's sheep Jacob said to Joseph go to sheam your brothers are there with my sheep Joseph answered I will go his father said go and see if your brothers are safe come back and tell me if my sheep are all fine so Joseph's father sent him from the valley of Hebron to sheam at sheim Joseph got lost a man found him wandering in the fields the man said what are you looking for Joseph answered I am looking for my brothers can you tell me where they are with their sheep
the man said they have already gone away I heard them say that they were going to doth him so Joseph followed his brothers and found them in Dothan Joseph's brothers saw him coming from far away they decided to make a plan to kill him they said to each other Here Comes Joseph the dreamer we should kill him now while we can we could throw his body into one of the empty Wells and tell our father that a wild animal killed him then we will show him that his dreams are useless but Ruben wanted to save
Joseph he said let's not kill him we can put him into a well without hurting him Reuben planned to save Joseph and sent him back to his father when Joseph came to his brothers they attacked him and tore off his long and beautiful coat then they threw him into an empty well that was dry while Joseph was in the well the brothers sat down to eat they looked up and saw a group of Traders traveling from Gilead to Egypt their camels were carrying many different spices and riches so Judah said to his brothers what profit
will we get if we kill our brother and hide his death we will profit more if we sell him to these Traders then we will not be guilty of killing our own brother the other brothers agreed when the midianite Traders came by the brothers took Joseph out of the well and sold him to the Traders for 20 pieces of silver the Traders took him to Egypt Reuben had been gone but when he came back back to the well he saw that Joseph was not there he tore his clothes to show that he was upset Reuben
went to the brothers and said the boy is not in the well what will I do the brothers killed a goat and put the goat's blood on Joseph's beautiful coat then the brother showed the coat to their father and the brother said we found this coat is this Joseph's coat his father saw the coat and knew that it was Joseph's he said yes that is his maybe some wild animal has killed him my son Joseph has been eaten by a wild animal Jacob was so sorry about his son that he tore his clothes then Jacob
put on special clothes to show that he was sad he continued to be sad about his son for a long time all of Jacob's sons and daughters tried to comfort him but Jacob was never comforted he said I will be sad about my son until the day I die so Jacob continued to mourn his son Joseph the midianite Traders later sold Joseph in Egypt they sold him to PO an officer of the king of Egypt and the captain of his Palace [Music] guards the traders who bought Joseph took him down to Egypt they sold him
to the captain of Pharaoh's guard potifar the Lord helped Joseph become a successful man Joseph lived in the house of his master poer the Egyptian potifa saw that the Lord was with with Joseph and that the Lord helped Joseph be successful in everything he did so potifa was very happy with Joseph he allowed Joseph to work for him and to help him rule the house Joseph was the ruler over everything potifar owned after Joseph was made the ruler over the house the Lord blessed the house and everything that potifar owned the Lord also blessed everything
that grew in pfa's fields the Lord did this because of Joseph so pfar allowed Joseph to take responsibility for everything in the house pipar didn't have to worry about anything except deciding what to eat Joseph was a very handsome good-looking man after some time the wife of Joseph's Master began to pay special attention to him one day she said to him sleep with me but Joseph refused he said my master trusts me with everything in his house he has given me responsibility for everything here my master has made me almost equal to him in his
house I cannot sleep with his wife that is wrong it is a sin against God the woman talked with Joseph every day but he refused to sleep with her one day Joseph went into the house to do his work he was the only man in the house at the time his master's wife grabbed his coat and said to him come to bed with me but Joseph ran out of the house so fast that he left his coat in her hand the woman saw that Joseph had left his coat in her hand and had run out
of the house when this happened she called in her servants and said look this Hebrew has come just to make fools of us he tried to rape me but I screamed for help and when he heard me scream he ran out of the house leaving his coat with me poi's wife kept Joseph's coat until her husband came home then she said that Hebrew slave of yours tried to rape me but when I screamed for help he left his coat and ran out of the house Joseph's Master listened to what his wife said and he became
very angry so potifar put Joseph into the prison where the king's enemies were held and that is where Joseph remained the Lord was with Joseph and continued to show his kindness to him so the commander of the prison guards began to like Joseph the commander of the guards put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners Joseph was their leader but he still did the same work they did the commander of the Gods trusted Joseph with everything that was in the prison this happened because the Lord was with Joseph the Lord helped Joseph be successful in
everything he did while Joseph was in prison both the king's personal servant and his chief cook made the king angry so he had them thrown into the same prison with Joseph they spent a long time in prison and the official in charge of the palace Guard team made Joseph their servant one night each of the two men had a dream but their dreams had different meanings the next morning when Joseph went to see the men he could tell they were upset and he asked why are you so worried today we each had a dream last
night they answered and there is no one to tell us what they mean Joseph replied doesn't God know the meaning of dreams now tell me what you dreamed the king's personal servant told Joseph in my dream I saw a Vine with three branches as soon as it budded it blossomed and its grapes became ripe I held the king's cup and squeezed The Grapes into it then I gave the cup to the king Joseph said this is the meaning of your dream the three branches stand for 3 days and in three days the king will pardon
you he will make you his personal servant again and you will serve him his wine just as you used to do but when these good things happen please don't forget to tell the king about me so I can get out of this place I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews and here in Egypt I haven't done anything to deserve being thrown in jail when the chief cook saw that Joseph had given a good meaning to the dream he told Joseph I also had a dream in it I was carrying three bread baskets stacked
on top of my head the top basket was full of all kinds of baked things for the king but birds were eating them Joseph said this is the meaning of your dream the three baskets are three days and in three days the king will cut off your head he will hang your body on a pole and birds will come and Peck at it 3 days later while the King was celebrating his birthday with a dinner for his officials he sent for his personal servant and the chief cook he put the personal servant back in his
old job and had the cook put to death everything happened just as Joseph had said it would but the king's personal servant completely forgot about Joseph two years later the king of Egypt dreamed he was standing beside the Nile River suddenly seven fat healthy cows came up from the river and started eating grass along the bank then seven ugly skinny cows came up out of the river and ate the fat healthy cows when this happened the king woke up the king went back to sleep and had another dream this time seven full heads of grain
were growing on a single stalk later seven other heads of grain appeared but they were thin and scorched by a wind from the desert the thin heads of grain swallowed the seven full heads again the king woke up and it had only been a dream the next morning the King was upset so he called in his magicians and wise men and told them what he had dreamed none of them could tell him what the dreams meant the king's personal servant said now I remember what I was supposed to do when you were angry with me
and your Chief cook you threw us both in jail in the house of the captain of the Guard one night we both had dreams and each dream had a different meaning a young Hebrew who was a servant of the captain of the Guard was there with us at the time when we told him our dreams he explained what each of them meant and everything happened just as he said it would I got my job back and the cook was put to death the king sent for Joseph who was quickly brought out of jail he shaved
changed his clothes and went to The King The King said to him I had a dream yet no one can explain what it means I am told that you can interpret dreams your majesty Joseph answered I can't do it myself but God can give a good meaning to your dreams the king told Joseph about his two dreams Joseph replied your majesty both of your dreams mean the same thing and in them God has shown what he is going to do the seven good cows stand for seven years and so do the seven good heads of
grain the seven skinny ugly cows that came up later also stand for seven years as do the seven bad heads of grain that were scorched by the Desert Wind the dreams mean there will be seven years when there won't be enough grain it is just as I said God has shown what he intends to do for 7 years Egypt will have more than enough grain but that will be followed by 7 years when there won't be enough the good years of plenty will be forgotten and everywhere in Egypt people will be starving the famine will
be so bad that no one will remember that once there had been plenty God has given you two dreams to let you know that he has definitely decided to do this and that he will do it soon your majesty you should find someone who is wise and will know what to do so that you can put him in charge of all Egypt then appoint some other officials to collect 1/ fif of every crop harvested in Egypt during the seven years when there is plenty give them the power to collect the grain during those good years
and to store it in your city it can be stored until it is needed during the seven years when there won't be enough grain in Egypt this will keep the country from being destroyed because of the lack of food the king and his officials liked this plan so the king said to them who could possibly handle this better than Joseph after all the spirit of God is with him the king told Joseph God is the one who has shown you these things no one else is as wise as you are or knows as much as
you do I'm putting you in charge of my Palace and everybody will have to obey you no one will be over you except me you are now governor of all Egypt then the king took off his Royal ring and put it on Joseph's finger he gave him fine clothes to wear and placed a gold chain around his neck he also let him ride in the Chariot next to his own and people shouted Make Way for Joseph so Joseph was governor of Egypt the king told Joseph although I'm King no one in Egypt is to do
anything without your permission Joseph was 30 when the King made him governor and he went everywhere for the king for seven years there were big harvests of grain Joseph collected and stored up the extra grain in the cities of Egypt near the fields where it was harvested Joseph was married and had two sons before the famine began Egypt seven years of plenty came to an end and the seven years of famine began just as Joseph had said there was not enough food in other countries but all over Egypt there was plenty when the famine finally
struck Egypt the people asked the king for food but he said go to Joseph and do what he tells you to do the famine became bad everywhere in Egypt so Joseph opened the storehouses and sold the grain to the Egyptians people from all over the world came to Egypt to buy Grain because the famine was so severe in their countries when Jacob found out there was grain in Egypt he said to his sons why are you just sitting here staring at one another I have heard there is grain in Egypt go down and buy some
so we won't starve to death 10 of Joseph's brothers went to Egypt to buy Grain but Jacob did not send Joseph's younger brother Benjamin with them he was afraid that something might happen to him so Jacob's sons joined others from Canaan who were going to Egypt because of the terrible famine since Joseph was governor of Egypt and in charge of selling grain his brothers came to him and bowed with their faces to the ground they did not recognize Joseph but at once he knew who they were though he pretended not to know instead he spoke
harshly and asked where do you come from from the land of Canaan they answered we've come here to buy Grain Joseph remembered what he had dreamed about them and said you're spies you've come here to find out where our country is weak no sir they replied we're your servants and we have only come to buy grain we're honest men and we come from the same family we're not spies that isn't so Joseph insisted you've come here to find out where our country is weak but they explained sir we come from a family of 12 Brothers
the youngest is still with our father in Canaan and one of our brothers is dead Joseph replied it's like I said you're spies and I'm going to find out the truth I swear by the life of the king that you won't leave this place until your youngest brother comes here choose one of you to go after your brother while the rest of you stay here in jail that will show whether you are telling the truth but if you're lying I swear by the life of the king that you are spies Joseph kept them all in
jail for 3 days before saying to them since I respect God I'll give you a chance to save your lives if you are honest men one of you must stay here in jail and the rest of you can take the grain back to your starving families but you must bring your youngest brother to me then I'll know that you are telling the truth and you won't be put to death Joseph's brothers agreed and said to one another we're being punished because of Joseph we saw the trouble he was in but we refused to help him
when he begged us that's why these terrible things are happening Reuben spoke up didn't I tell you not to harm the boy but you wouldn't listen and now we have to pay the price for killing him they did not know that Joseph could understand them since he was speaking through an interpreter Joseph turned away from them and cried but soon he turned back and spoke to them again then he had Simeon tied up and taken away while they watched Joseph gave orders for his brother's grain sacks to be filled with grain and for their money
to be put in their sacks he also gave orders for them to be given food for their journey home after this was done they each loaded the Grain on their donkeys and left when they stopped for the night one of them opened his sack to get some grain for his donkey and at once he saw his money bag here's my money he told his Brothers right here in my sack they were trembling with fear as they stared at one another and asked themselves what has God done to us when they returned to the land of
Canaan they told their father Jacob everything that had happened to them when the brothers started emptying their sacks of grain they found their money bags in them they were frightened and so was their father Jacob who said you have already taken my sons Joseph and Simeon from me and now you want to take away Benjamin everything is against me Reuben spoke up father if I don't bring Benjamin back you can kill both of my sons trust me with him and I'll bring him back but Jacob said I won't let my son Benjamin go down to
Egypt with the rest of you his brother is already dead and he is the only son I have left I'm an old man and if anything happens to him on the way I'll die from sorrow and all of you will be to blame [Music] the famine in Canaan got worse until finally Jacob's family had eaten all the grain they had bought in Egypt so Jacob said to his sons go back and buy some more grain Judah replied the governor strictly warned us that we would not be allowed to see him unless we brought our youngest
brother with us if you let us take Benjamin along we will go and buy Grain but we won't go without him Jacob asked why did you cause me so much trouble by telling the governor you had another brother mother they answered he asked a lot of questions about us and our family he wanted to know if you were still alive and if we had any more Brothers all we could do was answer his questions how could we know he would tell us to bring along our brother then Judah said to his father let Benjamin go
with me and we will leave at once so that none of us will starve to death I promise to bring him back safely and if I don't you can blame me as long as I live if we had not wasted all this time we could already have been there and back twice their father said if Benjamin must go with you take the governor a gift of some of the best things from our own country such as perfume honey spices pistachio nuts and almonds also Take Along twice the amount of money for the grain because there
must have been some mistake when the money was put back in your sacks take Benjamin with you and leave at once when you go in to see the governor I pray that God all powerful will be good to you and that the governor will let your other brother and Benjamin come back home with you but if I must lose my children I suppose I must the brothers took the gifts twice the amount of money and Benjamin then they hurried off to Egypt when they stood in front of Joseph he saw Benjamin and told the servant
in charge of his house take these men to my house Slaughter an animal and cook it so they can eat with me at noon the servant did as he was told and took the brothers to Joseph's house but on the way they got worried and started thinking we are being taken there because of the money that was put back in our sacks last time he will arrest us make us his slaves and take our donkeys so when they arrived at Joseph's house they said to the servant in charge sir we came to Egypt once before
to buy Grain but when we stopped for the night we each found in our grain sacks the exact amount we had paid we have brought that money back together with enough money to buy more grain we don't know who put the money in our sacks it's all right the servant replied don't worry the god you and your father worship must have put the money there because I received your payment in full then he brought Simeon out to them the servant took them into Joseph's house and gave them water to wash their feet he also tended
their donkeys the brothers got their gifts ready to give to Joseph at noon since they had heard they were going to eat there when Joseph came home they gave him the gifts they had brought and they bowed down to him after Joseph had asked how they they were he said what about your elderly father is he still alive they answered your servant our father is still alive and well and again they bowed down to Joseph when Joseph looked around and saw his brother Benjamin he said this must be your youngest brother the one you told
me about God bless you my son then because of his love for Benjamin he rushed off to his room and cried after washing his face and returning he was able to control himself and said serve the meal Joseph was served at a table by himself and his brothers were served at another the Egyptians sat at yet another table because Egyptians felt it was disgusting to eat with Hebrews to the surprise of Joseph's brothers they were seated in front of him according to their ages from the oldest to the youngest they were served food from Joseph's
table and Benjamin was given five times as much as each of the others so Joseph's brothers ate and drank with him and had a good time [Music] Joseph told the servant in charge of his house fill the men's grain sacks with as much as they can hold and put their money in the sacks also put my silver cup in the sack of the youngest brother the servant did as he was told early the next morning the men were sent on their way with their donkeys but they had not gone far from the city when Joseph
told the servant go after those men when you catch them say my master has been good to you so why have you stolen his silver cup not only does he drink from his cup but he also uses it to learn about the future you have done a terrible thing Joseph sends his Steward to catch up with them and accuse them of theft the brothers vehemently deny the accusation offering to submit to punishment if the cup is found in their possession the steward searches their sacks starting with the eldest brother and ending with Benjamin where the
cup is discovered distressed the Brothers returned to Joseph's house where they plead for Mercy Joseph told them I would never punish all of you only the one who was caught with the cup will become my slave the rest of you are free to go home to your father Judah went over to Joseph and said sir you have as much power as the king himself and I am only your slave please don't get angry if I speak you asked us if our father was still alive and if we had any more brothers so we told you
our father is a very old man in fact he was already old and Benjamin was born Benjamin's brother is dead now Benjamin is the only one of the two brothers who is still alive and our father loves him very much you ordered us to bring him here so you could see him for yourself we told you that our father would die if Benjamin left him but you warned us that we could never see you again unless our youngest brother came with us so we returned to our father and reported what you had said later Our
Father sent us back here to buy more grain but we told him him we can't go back to Egypt without our youngest brother we will never be let in to see the governor unless he is with us sir Our Father then reminded us that his favorite wife had given birth to two sons one of them was already missing and had not been seen for a long time my father thinks the boy was Torn to Pieces by some wild animal and he said I am an old man if you take Benjamin from me and something happens
to him I will die of a broken heart that's why benj must be with us when I go back to my father he loves him so much that he will die if Benjamin doesn't come back with me I promised my father that I would bring him safely home if I don't I told my father he could blame me the rest of my life sir I am your slave please let me stay here in place of Benjamin and let him return home with his brothers how can I face my father if Benjamin isn't with me I
