Lightning Lane Multi Pass Explained: Our 27 Best Tips & Tricks for a Perfect Disney World Day

in today's video we're going to share with you all of our best tips for using the lightning Lane multipass system here at Walt Disney World we're pulling out all the stops we're going to go to all four Parks we're going to book all of the most popular attractions all in one day and we're going to show you how to do it hi hello everybody this is a Rob with ear Scouts coming to you from the Magic Kingdom this is actually our second Park of the day we already crushed it over at Animal Kingdom and right

now we have the three most difficult to book rides in all of Walt Disney World in our back pocket and I'm about to show you in this video how we did it I think it's always best however to begin at the beginning so we're going to use the magic of editing to take you backwards through space and time to 3 days ago where our lightning Lane Adventure began let's go oh right it's time to book the lightning Lanes I have some good news and I have some bad news the good news is you don't have

to get up at 700 a.m. anymore on your Disney vacation day to book your lightning Lanes the bad news is you still do have to get up at 700 a.m. either 3 or 7 days before your Disney vacation if you're staying at one of these hotels on the screen right now you can book 7 days before your check-in day and you can book for your entire vacation at that time up to a total of 14 days if you're not staying at a Disney Resort hotel and you have a multi-day ticket that's available for a range

of dates you can start booking 3 days before the beginning of that date range and that's what I recommend start by figuring out what is your first day of Eligibility when you're going to be initially able to book lightning lanes for your vacation and then on that first day at 700 a.m. on the dot that is going to be the best time to go ahead and book all of your initial lightning lanes for your vacation that way you're going to have the best selection all you have to do to start booking those lightning Lanes is

head into the My Disney Experience app over on the main menu you're going to see a button that says lightning Lanes in the top right corner tap on that it's going to ask you if you want to purchase multi-pass or single pass lightning Lanes we'll talk about the difference between those a little bit later in this video but go ahead and tap on multipass next it's going to ask you what date you want to book for and then which Park you want to book for I recommend get to this stage of the process just before

7 a.m. and then once it hits 7: a.m. on the dot go ahead and continue if you continue before 7:00 a.m. it's going to tell you that no one in your party is eligible so just back out and come back in right at at 7:00 and then you should be eligible to purchase if you're booking for any park other than Animal Kingdom you're going to find on this next screen some tiers set up the most popular attractions are in tier one and the less popular attractions are in tier two it's only going to let you

pre-book one tier one attraction and two tier 2s with this system you're able to have three lightning Lanes at all times and once you're actually in your Park day you won't have these tier limitations but for right now you are limited to only one tier one attraction you might find that some of the attractions you're most excited about typically Tiana's Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom and Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood studios are showing as not available that's because other folks have already come in and booked up all the initial reservations for that day don't worry

though there will be more reservations coming available there's a very good chance you'll be able to get them on the day of your visit but for this reason I do recommend start by booking your Magic Kingdom days and your Hollywood Studios days before you book for Epcot or Animal Kingdom once you make your initial three selections on the next screen Disney is going to suggest times for these attractions you're also going to see any existing reservations you have like dining reservations the key here is the system is not going to allow you to overlap much

with your time times now don't worry starting at midnight on the day of your visit you'll be able to completely overlap things if that's what you want to do but before that point Disney is going to prevent things from overlapping too much you can use the modifi time button that you're going to see on each of those attractions to choose different times that line up better with your plans for the day if you're not happy with everything that you got or you're maybe not happy with the times you've got the good news is you can

modify any of these reservations right up until the moment you check in at that attraction so the way you do that is to head back into that lightning Lane menu tap on any of those reservations and you're going to see a modify button tap on that modify button and it will let you change that reservation to a different time or a different attraction do note that you're going to be limited at this point to attractions from the same park you're not able to have different lightning lanes for different parks until the day of your visit

while you can start modifying right away as soon as you have purchased lightning Lane multipass I find it's most effective to make those modifications the night before your Park day or the morning of your Park day that's because that's the time when lots of people are changing their plans so different difficult to grab rides that seem like they were unavailable often come back into play during that period so if you can't find what you're looking for check back on the evening before your Park day or early on the morning of your visit thankfully we were

able to get everything booked that we wanted we made some last minute tweaks the night before and that means that we are all set to use the magic of editing to take you forward through space and time to our first Park of the day let's [Music] go we have arrived at our very first Park of the day Disney's Animal Kingdom and we are here bright and early I got my coffee I'm ready to go and that is my next big tip which is when you're using lightning Lane multipass you want to arrive to your first

Park as early as you possibly can the reason for that is not only is it going to allow you to get on your first ride sooner more importantly it's going to allow you to unlock yourself sooner certain parts only let you get one tier one attraction all also we were limited to get all three of those rides in the same park what that means is that we're locked we're locked into those limitations however as soon as we tap in at our very first ride and it doesn't matter what ride it is it can be a

tier one it can be a tier two but as soon as you tap in at that first ride it's like a magic key that unlocks you and makes it possible for you to book any attraction you want in any park you want the only limitations is obviously it's got to be an attraction that's included with lightning Lane multipass and you can only book each attraction once per day but other than that once you're unlocked Disney world is your oyster and you can book whatever you want to your heart's content that's why we want to get

in and tap in as quickly as possible but Animal Kingdom actually has a superpower in this regard that we're going to talk about a little bit later we don't have early entry this morning if you did have early entry you could go in and start riding rides right away unfortunately you cannot use lightning Lane multipass until the regular park hours begin so even if you have an early lightning Lane you can't tap into it and unlock yourself until the park opens what you can do however is ride one of those attractions that isn't available with

lightning Lane multipass every single park has at least one major attraction that's only available with what Disney calls lightning Lane single pass meaning that you have to pay for that one attraction and it's not included with your multipass however if you have early entry that is the perfect ride to check off your list without paying any extra for it and without having a super long wait so if we were using early entry this morning I'd recommend getting here early and heading over to do flight of Passage but since we don't have early entry we're going

to head to our first ride of the day dinosaur you're going to see when we get up there there's absolutely no reason that you would need to use a lightning Lane for dinosaur this early in the morning it's going to be a walk-on that's pretty much guaranteed at this hour however we're using the lightning Lane to unlock ourselves to use that magic key so that's why we have this one booked so early you may recall that the first lightning Lane we had booked this morning initially was it's tough to be above yeah pretty much never

need a lightning Lane for that show but it's good to have something right there as soon as the park opens and those less popular attractions are the easiest way to do it in a perfect world however you'd have a ride that's on your Musto list that you're super excited to start your day with that's kind of how it worked out this morning I love dinosaur so I'm really excited that we're going to start our day here in dinoland USA okay now let's go get that dyo computer what are you tracking all computer full stop identify

I want to show you really quickly something magical that happens when you unlock the the full power of multipass by tapping in at that first attraction I went ahead and I booked kilamanjaro safaris really quickly it wasn't a great time it wasn't really what I wanted so what we're going to do instead we're just going to modify that lightning Lane just like we did before but now look at our modify screen suddenly there are some Park icons there and if we tap on those other Park icons we're able to modify that ride to a different

ride in another Park I already booked another lightning Lane for us in another Park but I'm going to share with you what that is after we get off of this next ride because as soon as we tap in here we're going to be free to book yet another lightning Lane in another Park let's go hunt for that yeti on Expedition Everest [Music] what an incredible morning we're having already here at Animal Kingdom we did dinosaur already we just did my favorite ride Expedition Everest we've already got our next lightning Lane booked and ready to go

but I want to go find a little quiet spot to sit for a moment and talk to you guys about how to prioritize the lightning lanes that you book as you go through your day so you remember earlier how I said that animal kingdom is kind of a special Park when you're using lightning Lane multipass honestly it's almost like cheating first off it's cheaper than any other Park and with multipass you just pay whatever the price is for your first Park of the day so by starting here we can still go to all four Parks

but we pay the lowest possible price for multipass so that's number one number two as you may recall animal kingdom does not have any tears this is the only park where you can book anything you want so you don't have to bother with that whole tier system when you start your day here and then number three is this park opens earlier than every other Park typically and that is where the superpower comes in so you remember how I said you would not be able to unlock the ability to book in other Parks or the ability

to book multiple tier one attractions until you tap in well guess what we tapped in at 8:00 folks starting at other Parks they can't possibly tap in until that park opens for the day which means we have an hour head start on them I took full advantage of that hour and it definitely felt like cheating because I have some amazing lightning Lanes lined up but if you don't come to the parks all the time or watch YouTube videos about Disney World all day you might not know which attractions you should be focused on well the

easy answer to that is obviously you want to focus on the attractions that are most important to you and your family having said that once you've made that list of attractions that matter to you you need to choose the ones that are the most popular to book first because those are going to become much more difficult to book as the day goes on so focus on the rides you want to do but specifically the ones that are the most popular early in the day with the old Disney G Plus system I talked a lot about

it being a slot machine game and this one very much is still the same we're going to talk about that later but I think the better metaphor for this new system it's kind of more like a game of cards at all times you you've got three cards in your hand now what those three best cards are will change throughout the day but early in the day you want it to be the most popular rides that matter to you we're going to go to all four Parks today and we're going to ride all of the most

popular attractions which means we need to get the best cards in our hand as quickly as possible so let's look at our Disney World deck the most powerful cards are the ones that are the the most rare the ones that it's really difficult to grab here at Disney world as of right now the two most powerful cards are going to be Tiana's byou Adventure at Magic Kingdom and Slinky Dog Dash those are your Aces those are the ones you want to book as soon as you can possibly grab them if they're in your Musto list

for the day next up in the deck are the face cards these are attractions that are difficult to book but not as difficult as those two faces so you probably would want to focus on these next here at Animal Kingdom the king of the deck is going to be na'vi River Journey the rest of the attractions here are relatively easy to grab over at Epcot there are two kings in that deck it's going to be Remy's Ratatouille adventure and Frozen Ever After normally I would include test track in that list but it's currently undergoing a

complete reimagining so it's out of commission for a while you won't find that card in your deck probably until next year heading over to Hollywood Studios there are a lot of face cards in that Park probably the King right now is going to be Rock and roller coaster I would focus on that one first the queen and the Jack of that deck are going to be Mickey and Minnie's runaway Railway and Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run Twilight Z own Tower of Terror is also sometimes difficult to book especially earlier in the day that's because it is

a tier 2 attract action meaning that folks can snatch that one up alongside their tier one when they're pre-booking and that one is probably the most popular tier 2 in that Park and finally at Magic Kingdom we've got the biggest deck of all there's a ton of attractions at Magic Kingdom and a lot of them are very popular there are two kings in that deck I would say there's Peter Pan's flight and jungle cruise as we're filming this jungle cruise is down for a short refurbishment but there's a good chance by the time you're at

the park that'll be opened back up the queen in that Park is probably Big Thunder Mountain and the jack is going to be Space Mountain although right behind that is going to be haunted mansion much like Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Haunted Mansion is a tier 2 attraction and really popular as an initial pick so especially earlier in the day Haunted Mansion can be tricky to grab we'll make that one a 10 not quite a face card but close but for right now let's take a look at what our hand looks like at this moment

so starting out this morning we had a pretty solid hand we had dinosaur right at Park open followed by Expedition Everest followed by that King in the deck here na'vi River Journey as soon as we did dinosaur I went ahead and grabbed our first attraction over at Magic Kingdom which is going to be the next Park we're going to hop to I've got Tiana's byou Adventure right around lunchtime which is perfect perfect then when we rode Expedition Everest I set my sights on the other Ace in the deck and we now have Slinky Dog Dash

in our back pocket for later this afternoon that's perfect because that's actually where I want to end my day today now it is important to note we're going to have this card in our hand all day long meaning one of our three slots is going to be tied up with Slinky Dog Dash if you want to ride one of those Ace attraction you got to grab it fast and hold on to it because it is going to be nearly impossible to draw that card later today so how did I manage to get such a perfect

hand so quickly so early in the day the secret is what I like to call playing the Disney slots and I'm going to show you how to play that game next but first it's time to go tap in at our next attraction so we can book yet another lightning Lane let's head over to Pandora and ride na'vi River Journey [Music] [Music] [Music] what a lovely and peaceful ride it's just so beautiful and relaxing but now we're going to move from relaxing to really exciting because this is my favorite part of this video I'm going to

teach you right now how to play those Disney slots if you think of lightning Lane multipass as a tool for booking rides you're probably going to be a little bit disappointed that's because it can be very frustrating it's hard to get the ride that you're aiming for sometimes it seems impossible to get a return time that you're satisfied with however if you change your perspective and think of this in instead as a game say a slot machine game that you have on your phone that's going to allow you to win a short weight on your

favorite attractions I promise it's going to make it so much more fun and so much less stressful I used to call them the Disney Genie slots and I'm probably still going to call it Genie slots throughout this video but the genie is actually still around and the first step to playing the slots is actually to use Disney Genie what you're going to do to find him is go to the main menu and then you're going to look for today's plans there's even a little Genie icon right there beside it tap on that and then blink

and you'll miss him but he's right there there's the genie and there's a button to get started you're going to tap on that and then you're going to tap get started yet again it's going to ask you what day it is what park you're going to go to and who all is going to be coming with you next is the most important part this is where it's going to ask you what rides you're most interested in the key here is you only want to pick one or two rides that you are most interested in Booking

next we'll be able to change these selections throughout the day but for right now we just want to pin the rides that we want to book to the top of our view and this is how we're going to do it once you've selected those two rides hit continue and then it's going to ask you if you're interested in other things like princesses and such just skip that for now because that would also add more things to the top of our view and that's what we're trying to avoid once you're done with that process head back

over to lightning Lanes tap on any one of your existing lightning lanes and a menu is going to pop up you're going to choose modify plan now at this point you're going to see a slightly different view the ride that you have booked is going to be be pinned up there to the top it's going to show you the time that you have it booked for and then below that it's going to show you the time you could book it for right then if you were to scroll down you'd see other rides that you could

book instead now if you see something you like perfect go ahead and grab it but if you don't this is where we're going to play those Disney slots take your finger slide it down the screen and spin the reels on that Disney slot machine what it's going to be doing is going to check to see what new times are available for all the different attractions if something new pops up it'll show up in this View and you'll also notice that the rides that you've pinned are now right there at the top and easy to see

so you can see if those times change and tap in and grab what you're looking for having said that this is like a real slot machine you're not going to win every time sometimes the times will get better sometimes they'll get worse and sometimes they'll disappear all together it is definitely an element of luck as the day goes on if the ride is running properly Disney will sprinkle in some more lightning Lanes that's one of the ways you'll see things pop up in this view when you play the slots also people change their plans maybe

they decide they want to ride something else instead when they modify their lightning Lane the one they had before goes back into the pot and you can find it if you spin the reels at exactly the right moment I always recommend play the slots when you got nothing better to do do in fact right now we're hopping to our next Park Magic Kingdom and Disney transportation is the perfect time to play the slots so I'm going to do that right now and hopefully I'm going to be able to grab a great lightning Lane return time

over it Magic Kingdom let's go do [Music] it welcome back to Magic Kingdom I think you might remember at the beginning of this video I said that we had the three most difficult to book attractions at all of Walt Disney World in our back pocket let's take a look at what our hand looks like at this moment shall we we have Slinky Dog Dash over at Hollywood Studios we have Tiana's by You Adventure here at the Magic Kingdom and while I was on that Disney transportation we booked Peter Pan's flight that my friends is a

pretty sweet hand if I do say so myself now that we're in our second Park of the day I want to talk about how to change those initial selections we made so that we have new rides pinned to the top of our screen while we're playing the slots it's actually really easy to do you could just go back to today's plans and then you could choose a new link you'll see there that says edit trip preferences what this is going to do however though it's going to overwrite the preferences that you've already set what we

want to do instead is actually add new preferences for each of the pars that way when we tap on any of the parks we want to look at we'll have the rides we care most about pinned to the top the way you do this you're going to scroll all the way to the bottom of today's plans you're going to see a little link buried down there that says plan for your next Park Tap on that choose the park that you're going to and this essentially repeats that process again but now it lets you add rides

for each individual Park repeat this process for the other parks and voila when you're playing in the slots you can tap on any of those Park icons and see the rides that you care about pinned to the top right now however it's time to go ride the ride I am the most excited about and that is the newest ride here at Walt Disney World Tiana's byou Adventure bonus Walt Disney World tip always be prepared for rain in Orlando and the extra bonus there is that you're also prepared for a water ride let's go do [Music]

it the Fe [Music] Le I love that ride so much but I am reminded that not everybody loves a water ride and not everybody loves a 50ft plunge so it's good to know that you can always cancel anyone you wish from your lightning Lane plans all you got to do is go into today's plans tap on the lightning Lane reservation you want to alter and then you're going to see a button there to cancel don't worry it's not going to cancel for everyone it's going to let you choose who you want to cancel for another

thing that's important to think about however with lightning Lane remember your first ride is what unlocks you so let's say that we had someone who didn't want to ride the very first ride of the day but they were going to be with us they weren't going to do something else instead of cancelling for that person what you should do is let the cast member know that person's not going to ride they may offer to just let you tap that person in so that person would tap in and that would unlock them even though they weren't

going to get on to the ride now if that person is not with you what you can also do is go speak to someone at Guest Relations or at one of those blue umbrellas that are set up around the parks those are the guest experience team members they can actually redeem that initial lightning Lane for the people in your party who aren't there that way they're free to book in other Parks or to book multiple tier one attractions let's take a look at our hand right now we've got Peter Pan's flight here at Magic Kingdom

followed by Remy's Ratatouille Adventure over at Epcot and Slinky Dog Dash that card we've been holding on to all day long I got to say booking Remy was a lot tougher as the day goes on you're going to find it's a lot more competitive especially for those key rides the good news is there are definitely some tricks you can have up your sleeve and we're going to share them with you right now the first thing I want to talk about is a lot of times as it gets really competitive you'll find a time and you'll

tap in but unfortunately you get that dreaded message that says that time is no longer available that's because somebody else tapped in quicker than you one of the things you can do to decrease the time it takes you to tap in is to modify instead of creating a new lightning Lane reservation let me show you what I mean by that so let's say it's time for us to book a new lightning Lane we're going to go into the tipboard screen at this point and we're going to look at all the different rides that are available

to us and if we tap on one of those to book it it's going to ask us who all is in our party with really competitive rides by the time you tell it who all is in your party that lightning Lane is long gone with Disney Genie plus this didn't really happen cuz once you set up the free Genie service it asked you who all was in your party and it would default to that group group whenever you book a lightning Lane this new system however does not default to that group initially but there is

a workaround so what you're going to do go ahead and book something that's easy to grab with the party that you want to ride with I grabbed It's a small world now that you have that booked what you're going to do is modify that lightning Lane reservation now that you're modifying it's going to default to the party that has that current reservation so you skip that step of telling the lightning Lane system who all wants that lightning Lane this is key don't try to grab difficult to book rides right off the bat grab something easy

first and then modify it now sometimes even when you do everything right you just don't tap in quite fast enough and you lose that lightning Lane you were aiming for don't worry though I've got another little trick to show you this is what I like to call the tap in tap out method so what you're going to do tap back out don't refresh the view while you still have that time showing up you're going to tap into it again you're going to repeat this process until hopefully you're able to get uh time for that attraction

the beauty of doing it this way is that you don't have to worry about tapping in quickly anymore because essentially you already did the tap if you tap through and there's a time there it's yours you'll see a timer up at the top that's how much time you have to decide whether or not you want that lightning Lane but as long as you stay on this screen and don't do anything it's going to hold that lightning Lane for you until that timer runs out another trick you can do if you're not happy with the time

that's showing there you can use the modify time trick so you see there there is a little link to modify your time normally what you would do with this is use it to pick a later time in the day so let's say you tapped in on an attraction that had lots of lightning lanes available in instead of taking that first one you could tap on modify time and it would show you a bunch of different times available and you could choose one that fits your schedule but we're going to use it a little bit differently

right now what we're going to do is just really quickly tap it open and if there's nothing there we're going to tap it closed tap it open tap it closed every time we do that tap it's going to search to see if there are more times for that attraction now the only downside to this particular method is that you're still going to have to tap in quickly because if a Time shows up and you don't tap in fast enough it can go away but this does give you a better chance of grabbing it now why

would we do this instead of tapping back out remember in a moment like this we've got that timer up at the top that's how much time we have to play around in here before we're going to lose what we've already grabbed so if we were to tap back out it would let this go so this time that we have that we're playing with that would be poop gone and that's not what we want to do what we want to do is just try to get a better time if we can but we don't want to

lose the one that's there the other thing that you can do to increase your odds of getting that coveted time slot is to work together with your family and friends lots of people who watch our Channel say that they love playing the slots together and thinking of it as a competitive sport see who's going to grab that difficult to grab lightning Lane return time as long as everyone is linked together they're able to book light lightning lanes for each other a lot of families though will just pass around the same device cuz that definitely makes

things a lot easier the downside of course is you're going to be using a lot of battery and that brings me to my next really big tip My Disney Experience is a huge battery hog it uses location services all the time it definitely can drain your battery when you're playing the slots so I recommend bring along a battery pack I love this one this one is from anchor uh the reason I love this one is because number one it's relatively inexpensive it's got a ton of power this thing can recharge my phone like four times

over but I also love that it's got a cable built into it so I never have to worry about forgetting my cable and because it's attached you can actually grab it by this cable which makes it really easy to pull it out of the bag so whatever charger you've got I do recommend bring it with you to Disney World you're definitely going to need it if you want to get this one that we love how ever we'll put a link to it in the description down below another thing that can make a big difference when

you're trying to grab those difficult to grab lightning Lanes is your internet connection now here at Walt Disney World they do offer complimentary Wi-Fi in all the parks unfortunately it can be a little slow and a little spotty and it is definitely known to drop out at the worst possible moment so what I recommend use your cellular signal instead turn off the Disney Wi-Fi the only time I ever turn turn the Disney Wi-Fi on is let's say I'm inside a Queue at an attraction and I'm not able to get a cell phone signal sometimes that

can be a good time to turn on the Wi-Fi just remember to turn it off when you come back out so you don't drop out your internet at the moment you're trying to book a tough to grab ride and my final tip about grabbing those tough to grab rides is sometimes you just don't need to grab it what I mean by that is it's best to balance between using the stand by Q when it makes sense and booking lightning Lanes today I'm here at the Magic Kingdom on a party day there's going to be a

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party tonight which means the park closes at 6 because of that the lines here are really short and that may happen when you're here you're just in one of the parks you see a short line don't bother booking that lightning Lane just get in that short line so that's actually what we're going to do right now we're going to take advantage of the short weights here on a party day we're going to go ride Pirates of the Caribbean and when we get off it should be time to go tap in

at Peter Pan's flight let's go do it [Music] how awesome was that five minute wait for Pirates of the Caribbean I love being here on a party day what you will find however is that all the other Parks become busier than normal because everyone's avoiding Magic Kingdom doesn't mean they're not coming to Disney World they're just going to a different Park so what you make up for here at Magic Kingdom you pay for at the other Parks if you're Park hopping but we're still doing pretty good I got to say and right now it's time

to go tap in at Peter Pan's flight and then we'll be able to book our next lightning Lane for Epcot let's go do it [Music] [Music] that was very cool I just saw the new Tiger Lily scene for the first time I hadn't seen that yet I also booked our next lightning Lane over at Epcot unfortunately as I was booking that lightning Lane I encountered the dreaded Disney Gremlin these pop up from time to time when you're using the My Disney Experience app especially when you're using the lightning Lane system this one was the classic

something went wrong not really sure what caused it just something went wrong but there are some more common Gremlins that you're going to encounter every time you use the app I do want to talk to a little bit about them and how to work around them with the something went wrong Gremlin that one's pretty easy you're just going to hit that refresh button that appears and nine times out of 10 that'll clear up whatever the problem was it did for us we were able to book saurin that something went wrong Gremlin is really the only

one that's a true error it's not supposed to happen these other things I'm going to talk about are more design flaws the first ones are related to park hopping specifically so when you're in one park and you're booking lightning Lanes you go to the main menu there's that big box that says lightning lanes and when you tap on that well there are your lightning Lanes but guess what happens when you hop to another park for some reason your lightning Lanes disappear they're not there anymore I don't know why this is it seems like such a

strange Choice cuz there's this big button that says Lightning L I expect to find my lightning Lanes there but nope once you park hop they're not there anymore where they are instead is in today's plans so as long as you book in your initial Park they'll show up there but as soon as you start booking in another one you're going to have to go to today's plans to find them hopefully Disney will fix that soon cuz it's kind of weird the next one also related to park hopping is when you're playing the slots so watch

what happens when I play the slots I take my finger I slide it down down the screen to refresh the view and it switches to Magic Kingdom I don't know why it does this but whenever you're Park hopping and you come to this view whenever you refresh it's going to default to Magic Kingdom so the workaround for this one is instead of refreshing the view what I do I just tap on the other parks and tap back that essentially refreshes the view and it's easier than sliding and then tapping into the park that I actually

want to look at this next one isn't specifically related to park hopping but it is super annoying to those of us who use Disney Genie plus before so you remember how you used to always go to the tip board to book your lightning Lanes this was the main view you would look at and when you edited your selections using the free Genie service it would pin those rides to the top of the tipboard view for some reason they took that feature away which is odd because the tipboard in all other respects is exactly the same

it just no longer pins rides to the top now the good news is once you're modifying a lightning Lane that you've already got then it does pin things properly but it's weird that it doesn't work on the tipboard anymore but not everything is bad there are some very good new changes that came with this new lightning Lane service and I do want to give Disney credit where credit is due let's say that you bought lightning Lane multipass or lightning Lane single pass and you decide you want to change the day you're going to the park

or the day that you want to use use it you can now do this yourself you don't need to go talk to someone at guest relations and beg and plead for them to change your reservations you can actually go in and modify your lightning Lane multipass or single passes to be a different park or a different day it'll present you with the change in cost if there is a change in cost but otherwise it lets you do this if you want and it is super handy for those of us who sometimes s change our [Music]

plants we have arrived at Park number three Epcot we're actually about to be late for our lightning Lane return window for saurin that's actually exactly what I wanted to happen because I want to show you what happens when a lightning Lane expires but first I want to talk about what just happened back on the Mont rail so I was on Disney transportation which meant I was playing the Disney slot that's what I recommend doing I was aiming for Frozen Ever After and I noticed that the ride was currently down there was no standby queue available

if that attraction is not showing is having lightning lanes available there's a good chance none are going to pop up until that Rod comes back online it's not always the case but it does often happen that way I think it's just because Disney doesn't know when that ride is going to come back and they don't want to be giving out a bunch of lightning lanes that they might not be able to honor probably one of the most common questions we get here at ear Scouts is how much time should I spend playing the slots and

that's a really difficult question to answer because number one it depends on what your goals are for the day if you're only aiming for those really popular tractions you're probably going to have to play the slots more also if you've got a party larger than four you're going to have to play the slots for longer it does tend to be harder for parties of five or more to play the slots and with lightning Lane unlike Genie you can have a party as large as 20 now with Genie the limit was 12 you can go all

the way up to 20 but you are going to find once your part's larger than four it's going to become more difficult to get those key rides especially later in the day also what time of year are you here if you're here during the holidays or during one of the busiest Seasons you're probably going to have to play the slots a little bit more that said my personal rule I do not spend more than 10 to 15 minutes at a time playing the slots if I can't get what I'm aiming for in 10 to 15

minutes I tend to stop now if I'm on a bus and I got nothing better to do I might play for longer and speaking of booking attractions it's time for me to book my next attraction because my lightning Lane for saurin just expired don't worry we're still going to be able to ride it but that does open up a slot for me to book again so I'm going to go find a shady spot and book our next ride well I just booked my next lightning Lane and look at my hand right now at this moment

I have four cards in my hand I played the slots for about 7 minutes and I was able to get rock and roller coaster over at Hollywood Studios but what about saurin that ride's expired so that should mean that I can't ride it anymore right well you always have had Grace periods with lightning Lanes at Disney World officially it's been 5 minutes before the lightning Lane begins and 15 or 20 minutes after the lightning lane ends that kind of depends on the cast member that you talk to but I usually hear either 15 or 20

minutes on the back end however with lightning Lane multipass I have tapped in at lightning Lanes an hour and 10 minutes after they were expired and it still went green meaning I was admitted onto the ride now once I waited two hours and at that point it went uh blue which meant it's up to the discretion of the cast member right now we're about to be an hour late for saurin let's see what happens let's see what happens when we tap in and see if the grace period works for us this late let's go find

[Music] out so we were just under an hour late and it glowed green when we tapped in I did speak with the cast member and she said it does depend a lot on how backed up the lightning Lane is 15 to 20 minutes you're always going to be fine but if you're going to be more than that make sure you have a good reason in case the cast member asks you and with any luck you may still be able to use that lightning r [Music] just as I got off of saurin from our journey around

the world I got a huge plot twist Eric arrived to save the day while I was on that ride he was actually modifying my lightning Lane as I said lightning Lane can be a team sport and Eric was definitely the Lifesaver today he was able to turn that rock and roller coaster lightning Lane into one for Frozen Ever After and I'm also betting that we're going to be able to get a bunch more lightning Lanes packed in too but right now let's head on over to Remy [Music] [Applause] [Music] one thing you don't get from

watching the video of that ride is how good it smells there's this scent of fresh baked bread and it just makes me so hungry whenever I ride especially if it's Meal Time which right now definitely ready for a meal well not a meal a meal but a meal but first got to go tap in over at Frozen before we head over there though I do want to talk about something that we haven't done today and that is shows and characters a big reason for the characters is because you actually cannot Book characters with lightning Lane

right now with Genie plus you could book character meet and greets but since it's changed over to lightning Lane they do not currently offer any lightning lanes for characters I have heard that that is coming back but no idea on a timeline of when it's going to come back I can tell you they have left all of the lightning Lane infrastructure in place at the different character greetings so I think the rumor that it's coming back is probably correct but now let's talk about shows because shows are still offered through lightning Lane multipass there are

a handful of shows that I think it is worth getting a lightning Lane for Indiana Jones epic stunt spectacular over at Hollywood Studios that one can certainly fill up fast especially on busy days so it can be good to get a lightning Lane for that also The Lion King show Festival of The Lion King over at Animal Kingdom if you want to see that show it can definitely be handy to get a lightning Lane not only does it ensure that you're going to get in to see the show but it also means you're probably going

to get a better seat most of the other shows you don't really need a lightning Lane if you've got nothing else to book let's say you're just doing that one park and you've managed to book all the rides you're most excited about then go ahead and grab a lightning Lane for it but in most cases I would say you're better off keeping those lightning Lane slots open for the attractions that you'd rather do that are more popular than the lightning lanes for those shows but for right now we got to get this show on the

road and head over to Frozen Ever After [Music] that was lovely while I was on there Eric was playing those Disney slots and he was able to grab Rock and roller coaster over at Hollywood Studios so let's take a look right now at what our hand looks like we now have Slinky Dog Dash rock and roller coaster and Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run all lined up to go y'all this day has been incredible and it is not done yet one thing that has not happened today none of the attractions that we've booked have gone down and

I realized that for most people that would be oh well that's good that's what you want to happen but no for this video I really wanted something to go down so I could show you what a bonus lightning Lane is all about so if an attraction goes down while you have a lightning Lane scheduled Disney will cancel that lightning Lane and instead give you what they call an experience Redemption you'll get a little push notification on your device letting you know that they've done that you can immediately book another lightning Lane at that moment because

it essentially frees up that slot in your hand but then what you want to do is go check out that experience Redemption because it's going to show you a list of attractions you can go to any of those attractions and just tap in as if you had a lightning Lane booked even though you don't and it will glow green and allow you in but there's another secret power of experience redemptions and that is that it's one of the only ways you can use the lightning Lane for an attraction twice that's because you can book an

attraction ride it and then if it's in that list of experiences you can tap in with your bonus lightning Lan and it'll let you in even though you've already ridden it once we are now headed over to the Skyliner to head to our final Park of the day Hollywood studios here we come this is going to be the exception to the rule I mentioned earlier you know how I said that whenever you're on Disney transportation that's the perfect time to play the Disney slots well the Skyliner is much too beautiful to spend that ride playing

the slots you want to be looking out at those beautiful views not down at your phone thankfully though we've got everything we want all lined up and ready to go so let's head over to the Skyliner and make our way to [Music] Hollywood we have arrived at Hollywood Studios we've got some amazing rides all lined up but this park is going to close in an hour and a half and if you're using lightning Lane multi pass you got to book your last lightning Lane 30 minutes before the park closes that's kind of the moment that

lightning Lane turns into a pumpkin when you refresh at exactly 30 minutes before the park closes suddenly all the lightning Lanes poof are gone so that is the last moment we can get another ride squeezed in our big mission now though is to find out how many more lightning Lanes can we book before the end of the night let's go find out [Music] [Music] w [Music] w w [Music] [Applause] [Music] in case you are wondering if you would still be able to ride all the rides that you want to ride here at Walt Disney World

after the change over from Genie plus to lightning Lane multi pass I think the answer is clearly yes yes you can we just rode so many rides today I said earlier in this video that I was surprised that we hadn't gotten an experience Redemption all day and then on the very last ride of the night we came up to tap in at Rock and roller coaster and when you know it we did in fact get our experience Redemption at the very end what I recommend doing in a moment like that it's the end of the

night your last ride goes south just look around see if you can find an attraction near you that you want to do hop in that standby queue before the park closes because as long as you get in that line at least a few seconds before the park closes they will let you stay in that queue as long as it takes to ride that ride so that exactly what Eric and I did we made a beline over to Tower of Terror and that was a truly terrifying way to end the night if you enjoyed this video
