I figured out how to stay focused while studying even if you have ADHD you know when you try to focus on the material but your mind just starts drifting suddenly you realize you've read the same sentence over and over without actually getting anything and the worst part no matter how hard you try studying just doesn't stick leaving you feeling unmotivated frustrated and like you're falling behind everyone else yeah it makes you feel like an idiot but the problem isn't the lack of effort or laziness like people think it's because you're letting your mind run wild
without any control in this video I'll show you eight secret haacks to help you take back control of your wandering mind and stay truly focused while studying so let's get started eight try box breathing this technique isn't some mystical nonsense it's a dead simple way to calm your brain down and get it ready to actually absorb what you're studying the idea is to focus on your breath slow things down and get your brain out of panic mode trust me it works in fact research published in cell reports medicine found that structured breathing practices like box

but don't even think about playing anything with lyrics your brain can't handle that and studying at the same time you idiot six create a distraction free zone you're about to study so why is your phone still sitting there lighting up every time someone posts about their lunch first rule banish that phone out of sight out of mind and if you're using your computer to study block those addictive websites that keep pulling you in use the Chrome extension Newsfeed Eradicator to remove the most addictive part of Twitter Youtube Instagram Reddit and other social networks the feed
and replace it with an inspirational quote and tell everyone around you to leave you alone no interruptions no questions know just a quick chat you're on a mission here and don't even think about sitting near a window or facing a bunch of stuff that will tempt you to look away sit facing a blank wall if you have to clear all the junk off your desk too no need for random trinkets catching your eye when you're supposed to be focused five get a schedule look if you're serious about getting focused you need a schedule no excuses
when you start hitting the books at the same time every day your brain starts to get the hint that it's study time and actually plays along don't let chores or random stuff ruin your focus you idiot schedule them separately and stay organized but start small don't be a hero and try to cram for hours right away kick things off with short study sessions and build up your brain's like a muscle and it needs some serious training to handle long study sessions you wouldn't sign up for a marathon without ever running right same deal here you
got to whip your brain into shape to stay in the game stick to a schedule have a little patience and boom you'll be focusing like a genius or at least pretending to for set clear short-term goals with deadlines saying I need to study math is just asking for failure because it's too vague too big and way too easy to avoid instead get specific say I'm doing five math problems now you have a clear Target something your brain can actually latch on to and here's a trick that might sound weird but works wonders set fake deadlines
for yourself why because a deadline pushes you through any laziness or distractions that try to creep in don't just say I'll start studying at 6:00 p.m. give yourself a time to finish like I need to be done with this by 9900 p.m. nothing lights a fire under you like thinking you're running out of time even if you set that timer yourself and don't skimp on breaks but be smart about them give yourself checkpoints if you've got a list of stuff to get through and a promise to yourself that you won't leave until it's done you'll
be more likely to stick to it find the Rhythm that works for you even if you need a 5-minute break every 30 minutes at first as long as you're hitting those checkpoints you're making progress and that's what counts three move while you study if you think sitting for hours is going to help you focus hate to break it to you but you're being an idiot for a lot of people especially with ADHD physical movement gives your brain that little push it needs to actually pay attention try pacing while you read or use an adjustable desk
to switch between sitting and standing and read out loud to yourself while you're moving it might feel weird but it works it's like you're putting your brain on high alert forcing it to process what you're reading instead of just skimming give it a shot grab your notes stand up walk around the room and read out loud you'll notice things start to click and finally the information sticks two sit in the front of the class if you actually want to focus in class instead of sitting there looking like a clueless potato plant yourself right up front
near the professor seriously the closer you sit the less crap there is to distract you bonus professors tend to like the front row crowd they'll notice you remember your name and maybe even throw you a Lifeline if you're struggling and if you're stuck on Zoom stop staring at everyone's messy bedrooms and awkward faces switch to speaker View and Zone in on the Prof like your grades depend on it because they do now listen if you're confused don't just sit there like an idiot raise your hand and ask teachers aren't mind readers and trust me they'd
rather explain it than watching fail miserably sure some classmate might roll their eyes but who cares half the room is just as clueless as you but too scared to say anything so stop being a coward and just ask already one use visual aids diagrams mind maps color-coded notes these aren't just nice to have they're game changers throwing in some visuals is like handing your brain a cheat code it latches onto them and actually remembers stuff for once and let's be real it's a lot tougher to zone out when you're busy piecing together a mind map
but if you really want to Crank It Up and actually stay focused for once ditch the notebook and go all out with a white board there's just something about scribbling on a giant board shuffling ideas around and erasing mistakes like a mad scientist that keeps you locked in you're not just just organizing thoughts you're taming chaos and let's face it this is the perfect way to keep your ADHD brain from wandering off into Never Never Land like a clueless idiot if you liked the video send it to that friend who's just as desperate for these
