Brainy Dose Presents: 10 Signs Someone Is Completely FAKE with You Do you ever wonder if someone in your  life is less authentic than they appear? Maybe you’ve caught subtle clues, or  there’s a certain uneasiness around them, a gut feeling that their kindness  is more performative than genuine. It’s a common experience, and it can be  difficult to pinpoint exactly what’s off.
And that’s because some people are experts  at hiding behind masks, blending in, and making it seem like they’re your friend or  closest ally. But if you pay close attention, you’ll probably realize that their actions  and words reveal more than they intend to. So, if you’re questioning someone’s authenticity,  here are ten signs to help you uncover the truth.
Number 1 - Insistence on Common Ground Have you ever met someone who instantly  echoed your exact sentiments or claimed to share experiences that seem rather unlikely? Sure, it could have been a coincidence. But a more likely scenario is that they just  went out of their way to mirror your life.
This is actually one of the most  telling signs of inauthenticity. Think about it. What are the chances that  somebody shares the very same interests, experiences, and even problems, slmost like  they’re reading from your personal biography?
More often than not, such exaggerated insistence  on commonality is merely a tactic to gain trust. Number 2 - They Agree with Everything You Say It’s nice to have someone who understands you, but a real connection involves  healthy disagreements and discussions. Fake people avoid conflict like the plague.
They'll nod in agreement with everything you say, even when it's clear they have a different  viewpoint. And you might also notice that they rarely bring up their own thoughts or preferences. This kind of unwavering agreement often stems from a desire to keep the interaction smooth  and agreeable, but for their own benefit.
Number 3 - Discrepancy Between  Words and Non-Verbal Cues You likely spot when someone’s words don’t  quite match their body language. Perhaps they’re expressing concern, but there’s a smirk  on their face, or they claim to be happy for you while crossing their arms defensively. Words can be carefully chosen, but non-verbal cues are harder to control.
When someone's facial expressions, gestures, or tone of voice don’t align with what they're  saying, it’s a red flag you don’t want to ignore. Genuine emotions and words should  flow together, not contradict each other. Fake people often stumble in this area  because their words are crafted to please, but their true feelings slip  out through their body language.
Number 4 - They Avoid Real Conversations Ever feel like you’re stuck in a  loop of small talk with someone? Fake people tend to avoid deep, meaningful  conversations. They’ll talk about the weather, gossip, or trivial matters, but when it comes  to discussing more serious or personal matters, they deflect or change the subject.
Why? Because diving into real conversations requires vulnerability, and  that’s something fake people shy away from. They don’t want to reveal too much of their  true selves, so they keep things superficial.
And you end up walking away  from interactions like these, feeling like nothing meaningful  was exchanged, just empty words. Number 5 - Inconsistencies in Stories or Facts Fake people often struggle to keep their  stories straight. They claim one thing today and contradict themselves the next time you talk.
These discrepancies might seem harmless at first, but over time, they add up. Stories, details,  and facts begin to shift, and soon, you can’t tell what’s real and what’s fabricated. This inconsistency is a sign that they’re not being entirely truthful.
Whether they're trying to impress or manipulate, their words become a web of  half-truths that are difficult to maintain. Number 6 - Their Responses Feel Automated Fake people often give answers that come  across as rehearsed or overly polished. When you ask them about their day or to  share something personal, their response sounds like it’s been plucked from a script.
Predictable, formulaic, and lacking spontaneity. Genuine conversations have a natural ebb and  flow, with moments of hesitation or surprise. When someone’s responses feel too calculated,  it’s a red flag that they’re not being authentic.
Number 7 - Their Compliments  Feel Forced or Exaggerated Compliments should feel sincere, but  when someone is fake, their praise often feels over-the-top or contrived. Maybe they gush about how amazing you are, but the enthusiasm seems hollow, or they shower  you with flattery that doesn’t quite fit the situation. It’s almost as if they’re trying  too hard to convince you of their approval.
The result? You feel uneasy,  sensing that their words are more about maintaining an image  than expressing honest admiration. Number 8 - They Only Reach  Out When They Need Something A fake person’s interactions  are typically transactional.
They only reach out when they need  something from you, be it emotional support, advice, or help with a task. When things are going well in their life, you rarely hear from them. But  the moment they need something, suddenly they’re blowing up your phone.
This one-sided relationship clearly indicates that their interest in you isn’t genuine;  it’s conditional on what you can offer. Number 9 - Their Attention is Fickle Inconsistency in a person’s attention is  another tell-tale sign of fake behavior. Yeah, they seem fully engaged  when there’s no one else around, but when somebody more advantageous enters  the scene, they drop you without hesitation.
When someone’s only giving you their full  attention when it’s convenient for them, they’re obviously not trying to build  a meaningful connection with you; they’re all about what they  can gain from the interaction. Number 10 - Their Actions Don’t Match Their Words The ultimate sign of inauthenticity is when  someone’s actions don’t align with their words. They’ll promise to be there for  you or swear to support your goals, but when it comes time to follow  through, they’re nowhere to be found.
Fake people are experts at talking the talk  but consistently fail to walk the walk. They may say all the right things, but when  you really need them, their actions fall short. Spotting a fake person in your life can  feel like solving a puzzle.
While they might charm you with their words and actions  at first, over time, the cracks begin to show. From shifting stories to mismatched body  language, these subtle signs can help you protect yourself from those who aren’t truly  interested in building a real relationship. So, the best thing you can do is surround  yourself with people whose words and actions align and who value deep connections  over shallow pretenses.
