so just a few hours ago I saw that the critical Drinker and nerd rodic were brought on to the peer Morgan show to debate a man who was there representing Disney side of the argument and was there to oppose the view of the critical Drinker and the millions who have negative opinions on Snow White so far so the man who was on the side of Disney in this debate was bringing forth all the arguments that Disney has already made clear in regards to why they believe Snow White is a good movie and is just being
unfairly attacked by bigots while of course the iCal Drinker and nerd rodic were expressing how they just view the trailer as bad and don't agree with Disney's changes to the original story and Rachel Ziggler's decisions when it came to the marketing of the film but this debate actually touched on some really interesting topics and I think it really did get to the heart of the issue with Snow White and so I figured it would be fun to take a look at the interview and break down why this movie is being attacked by so many and
is shaping up to be a massive flop for Disney so here's the opening statement made by each of them this is a movie that was made in 1937 the original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so and it's being remade in 2024 and you sit here moaning about the differences between those two movies like 1937 were the Glory Days let's bring in our two YouTube experts because critical Drinker your YouTube video on the trailer has now been viewed nearly two and a half million times and you said the new dwarf's look is nightmare
fuel yeah so what they've obviously tried to do is um retain the artistic aesthetic of the cartoon from the 1930s but transpose it into a liveaction movie and it just looks horrific it's so out of place and when you see them dancing next to Rachel Ziggler who's an actual human actor it just looks awful they they don't match up they're deep into The Uncanny Valley uh is the worst possible choice they could have made it would have been so much it would be so much easier if they just used actual dwarf actors I don't know
why they haven't done that so automatically we get a clear picture of Disney's position throughout the entire marketing of Snow White as they haven't been shy in expressing how a lot of the decisions behind the movie were based on modern-day political opinion um there is a big focus on her love story um with a guy who literally stalks her so we didn't do that this time but I think the critical Drinker had a great response here in just taking it back to the movie itself because I think you can sit and argue over opinions all
day long and it just won't get anywhere but when a movie just looks objectively bad the opinions and the politics just don't matter the simple fact is that the dwarves didn't look good in the trailer and it was just a missed opportunity to cast real dwarf actors and pay them very handsomely and then of course nerd rodic brings it back to the marketing aspect where they attacked an original movie that millions of people have loved for decades uh Disney fans are offended by Rachel Rachel Ziggler's comments uh disrespecting the movie that made Disney and this
is why there is 1 million dislikes on this trailer and so whether or not you agree with Disney's opinions politically or not I think the reality is a bad movie is a bad movie and so even though there are people out there who will want to like a movie due to its political stance those same people will also need to find it engaging they'll also need to find the cinematography good and the performances and of course the plot also need to be good too otherwise people who agree with the film politically still won't like the
movie because the movie just isn't good and we've already seen that happen so far with multiple feminist blogs attacking Snow White for its feminism so I think it would have been better of Disney to discuss the movie itself rather than seemingly making the point of the movie the politics because I think regardless of personal opinion very few people people look at movies as a political text or some type of Think Tank they just look at movies for good stories so that should always be at the heart of all movie marketing and the movie itself as
opposed to the movie living and dying on its politics alone but anyway moving on the critical Drinker follows up with a very solid Point here where he says the following and you've got a story about the search for true love that's no longer about true love what even is this movie the original story is problematic why is everyone ignoring that now this is another major issue with Snow White because even the trailer itself doesn't make clear what this movie is even about because we have already heard from the Snow White actress herself that the movie
has been changed and that the movie isn't about love anymore but it's rather about becoming a leader she's not going to be dreaming about true love she's dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be but the trailer or any of the interviews or marketing hasn't made clear what the movie is actually about what the plot might actually be and what the actual themes are all they've said is that it's not going to be the same as the original Snow White and that it's been changed but they've never shown us what those changes are
and what the story is even going to look like and like I've already said the story is where a movie is made or broken so why not Mark it through the story or at least through what the story will make you feel rather than just saying things like this all the time the cartoon was made 85 years ago and therefore it's extremely dated when it comes to the ideas of women being in roles of power because a great example of a movie that is political being marketed in a good way is Barbie because the movie
wasn't being made or broken on its political ideas which were heavily implemented in the film but rather the trailer promoted the way it would make the audience feel which ended up succeeding with audiences and getting amazing reviews even from people who politically disagreed with the themes of the movie because a story that captures you will bring people together even if the politics don't align and I think Brett Cooper was an amazing example of how that can end up happening and so regardless your opinion of Barbie you have to acknowledge that the way the movie went
about its marketing was a hell of a lot better than the way that Disney has gone about it with Snow White but now let's get to the final point they talk about with this movie which is in regards to Rachel Z's decision to talk about a global conflict that directly ties to her co-star being galado she then shared the trailer on social media and added free Palestine uh despite the fact that her co-star galado is is Ry so you can imagine what that's done that's just ped kerosene all over the place does she even know
promotional tour for this movie is going to be wild man when you get them two together now I think this is obviously an incredibly delicate situation and as I'm only a 23-year-old person I will never ever give my own opinion on a situation of this nature however I do think it's obvious that Rachel zegler expressing her opinions directly attached to the trailer will only serve to anger a lot of people and divide this movie even further while it also May potentially anger her own co-star as well who of course is going to be emotionally charged
about the situation because she is from one of of the sides here and has family living there right now and so this may be an example of when political opinions shouldn't be so openly discussed because if Rachel zegler were to express her right to an opinion online in a separate post and not attach it to the movie itself because the movie of Snow White has no connection to this conflict and nor should it and when you really look at it it's just the same thing that Gina corano did as she expressed her own political opinions
online yet she ended up being fired for it and now has ended up suing Disney whereas there has so far been no reaction at a corporate level to Rachel zler basically doing the exact same thing and while I actually like that Disney hasn't fired her just for an opinion I do still think they should have extended that same courtesy to Gina corano as well because otherwise it's just completely unfair because as I always say the movie business should be about entertainment and good stories and not about pushing one political view over another so why doesn't
the movie industry work to bring people together through Amazing Stories the way something like the original Snow White did as opposed to continuing to divide but what are your thoughts on this situation what are your thoughts on this debate and interview let me know Down Below in the comments if you like the video please hit the like button hit the Subscribe button and as always good afternoon good evening and good night
