Present Simple and Adverbs of Frequency in English | Daily Routines

Hi everyone, I’m working at home now, so my daily routine has changed in the last few months. Let me tell you about it! From Monday to Friday, I wake up at 6:30 but I usually hit the snooze button a few times!

Right after I get up, I drink a big glass of water and go to the bathroom. I like to wash my face to help me wake up. Then I put on some exercise clothes, because I like to do a home workout in my living room.

Just some cardio and weights. A bit of exercise in the morning always helps me to get motivated for the day. After I finish, I go back to the bathroom to shave and shower.

Then I have my breakfast in the kitchen. Some days I have bacon and eggs, though I often have something lighter, like yogurt with cereal and fruit. One thing is certain – I always have coffee!

I start work at 8:00, and I work from home at the moment, so I spend many hours in front of the computer. My colleagues and I work remotely from all over the world, but we communicate online all day long. We also chat with our boss on our regular video call meetings.

They are all very reliable and easy-going, and we rarely have problems. We make a great team! I work until 5 pm.

Sometimes I lose track of time, so I set an alarm to make sure I take regular breaks throughout the day. When my alarm goes off, I stand up, stretch, and refill my water bottle or make a cup of tea. I also make sure I take some time to have lunch, as well as a snack in the afternoon when I get hungry.

When my workday is done, I prepare dinner in the kitchen. I make enough food to have leftovers for the next day’s lunch. I like to prepare different dishes, so it usually takes me about an hour.

While I cook, I listen to some music or chat with my parents and friends, then I eat dinner around 6 o’clock. After dinner, I love going for a walk around my neighbourhood. It’s good to get some activity a few times every day!

When I get home, I shower again and then relax on the sofa. I like to enjoy my hobbies in the evenings, so I might read a book, watch TV or even play some video games. I’m usually in bed by 10 o’clock, and I often write about my day in my journal before I turn out the light.

It never takes me very long to fall asleep. Most nights, I sleep like a rock! On the weekends, I like to change my routine a little bit, since I don’t have to work!

I often do chores around the house, like cleaning, laundry and grocery shopping. I often meet up with my friends on the weekend too. We might hang out at someone’s house or see a movie at the cinema, but we rarely go to bars or clubs.

They are too expensive! Sometimes I visit my parents too, but they almost never visit at my place! I like to stay in some weekends as well.

When I do, I always order pizza and watch my favourite tv show for hours. I know a lot of you are working from home now, just like me. How has your routine changed?
