good evening ladies and gentlemen in today's episode we will share a few true camping horror stories before we begin please consider giving us a like if you have any personal experiences with a camping or any other scary or creepy encounters you'd like to share feel free to reach out and share your story with us who knows it might even be featured in one of our future episodes [Music] [Music] I was involved in scouting when I was younger and stopped around the age of 15 but recently I joined again as a leader and while visiting a
campsite memories of my old scouting trips in rural Australia came back to me I had forgotten about those scary experiences until I stood in the same place again I was around 13 or 14 when I went on a camping trip with my Scout Troop we stayed at a campsite we visited often because it was only about 30 minutes from our city the campsite was big and usually used for big Scout events in my state but this time it was only only our group which had about 10 to 12 people the area was open with plenty
of space for tents and campfires and we were used to spending time there we set up our camp in a back corner of the campsite near a fence with thick trees behind it if you walked far enough there was a cliff that overlooked a river we arrived around 6:00 p.m. set up our tents and went to bed soon after in the middle of the campsite there was a large toilet block surrounded by rocks it was divided into four sections male and female and separate areas for adults and youth our campsite was about 300 M from
the toilet block the first two nights were normal but on the third night something happened that kept me and two others awake and made us uneasy about camping there again there were three of us in a tent and we climbed into our sleeping bags ready for our last night before heading home we were tired from the long day and expected to fall asleep easily but that night didn't go as planned the two others in the tent let's call them Olivia and Jess for privacy fell asleep quickly but it took me longer I've always had trouble
falling and staying asleep so waking up not long after dozing off wasn't surprising I closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep after a few seconds I heard footsteps moving toward the toilet block we were camped on soft green grass that made a crunching sound when stepped on so the noise was clear in the quiet night the rest of the campsite was silent and everyone seemed to be asleep after a few seconds I heard footsteps moving toward the toilet block we were camped on soft green grass that made a crunching sound when stepped
on so the noise was clear in the quiet night the rest of the campsite was silent and everyone seemed to be asleep I wondered why I hadn't heard a tent zipper before the footsteps since anyone leaving their tent would usually unzip it first still I didn't think too much about it and tried to relax a few minutes later I heard the footsteps coming back steady and unhurried it seemed normal until they stopped right outside our tent my body tensed as I listened waiting to hear what would happen next I glanced over and saw that Olivia
and Jess were still fast asleep so I knew it wasn't them I waited for a few seconds and when the footsteps started moving again I thought it was odd but didn't worry too much then it sounded like the footsteps circled around the tents and came back to ours this time on the other side our tents were set up in a line with enough space between them for guy ropes since strong winds had been expected but that night the air was still and there was hardly any wind at all whoever or whatever it was seemed to
walk around the whole row of tents before stopping at ours again our tent was the second closest to the toilet Block in a line of four the footsteps were slow and steady almost like whoever it was had a purpose then I heard them move toward the trees I sat up my heart beating Faster by this point I was sure it wasn't one of us the way the footsteps moved didn't make sense and why did it sound like someone was heading straight into the trees the forest was thick and there were no paths leading that way
it was around 2: a.m. and I didn't want to be the only one awake dealing with this I gently shook Olivia trying not to startle her and put a finger to my lips as she stirred she was my closest friend in the group and I quickly whispered what I had heard we agreed to stay quiet and wait to see if anything else happened I don't remember exactly how long the strange feeling had started to fade and I was just about to suggest that we try to sleep when the footsteps returned they came from the same
direction as before before slow and deliberate and once again stopped right behind our tent my breath caught as I listened my mind racing with questions who or what was out there Olivia and I glanced at each other in the dim light from the moon shining through the tent I could see she felt just as uneasy as I did we listened as the footsteps slowly started circling our tent Olivia didn't say a word she just moved closer to me the footsteps grew faster little by little until it sounded like whoever or whatever it was had started
running but that didn't make sense to move that fast without tripping they would have to dodge all the guy ropes perfectly in the dark every now and then something brushed against the sides of the tent Olivia and I held on to each other trying our best to stay silent that's when Jess woke up she turned to look at us and saw the tears in our eyes her face changed instantly filling with fear and she sat up quickly without a word she moved over to join us in our frightened huddle but whatever was outside didn't seem
to care that she was awake the noises continued as if nothing had changed the running went on for what felt like forever but it was probably probably only a minute then the footsteps suddenly stopped right in front of our tent my hands were shaking as I slowly reached for a spare tent Peg gripping it as tightly as I could it wasn't much but if I had to I could use it to defend myself the footsteps started again moving around the tents just like before my hands were shaking as I slowly reached for a spare tent
Peg gripping it as tightly as I could it wasn't much but if I had to I could use it to defend myself the footsteps started again with a sudden Rush of bravery and curiosity I decided to take a look outside I moved slowly carefully unzipping the tent as quietly as I could since the zipper opened from the bottom I lay down on my stomach and peaked underneath instead of unzipping it all the way I didn't want to make any extra noise or draw attention to us the footsteps had stopped shortly after moving away and now
the night was completely silent no rustling leaves no Whispers of wind just an eerie Stillness I held my breath my eyes scanning the darkness outside waiting to see if anything was there this meant that whoever it was had to get over a wire fence without making a single sound which didn't seem possible but when I looked outside I saw nothing the three of us stayed awake for the rest of the night too scared to sleep in the morning we told our leaders what had happened they said it was probably a posum or some other animal
but I didn't believe that at all the strangest parts of this experience still bother me there were no other sounds just the footsteps and something lightly brushing against the tent no heavy breathing no Whispers no animal noises just silence except for those movements and then when I finally got the courage to look outside whoever or whatever it was had completely disappeared but the thing that unsettles me the most is how strange Its Behavior was why our tent out of all the tents in the campsite why did it keep circling hours had it been looking for
someone and only chose us after I woke up the thought still gives me chills why did it leave after scaring us so badly it didn't try to get inside the tent or make any noise other than footsteps it just circled us ran around and then disappeared and why didn't anyone else hear it our tents were spaced apart because of the guy ropes so maybe the sound didn't carry far enough to wake the others but to us it was loud and clear like someone was right outside even now I still think about that night I know
there are stories and legends about creatures in rural Australia but I don't know much about them if anyone has an idea of what this could have been I would love to hear about it [Music] I've had some weird experiences in the woods while camping over the years but two have stayed in my mind the most this one happened in September 2017 at Kettle Marine State Forest in southeast Wisconsin the weather was starting to cool and the days were getting shorter two friends and I decided to take a last minute trip before summer ended and school
got busy we packed our gear picked a campsite deep in the forest and planed to spend a couple of nights enjoying the woods after setting up our campsite we decided to take a hike on the Ice Age Trail which ran next to the campground since it was getting late we didn't have a set plan but found a loop trail and followed it this part of the forest had Trails on top of a ridge with steep hills on both sides the drop wasn't high enough to be deadly but it was about 20 ft down so leaving
the trail wasn't really an option the trail was about 4 or 5 m long and by this point we were on our last mile the sun was starting to set we didn't expect the hike to take this long so none of us brought headlamps but we weren't too worried since we thought we had only about a mile left as we walked around a small Bend we saw trees on both sides of the path arching overhead forming a kind of doorway in front of us that wouldn't be a big deal except the air in this doorway
was shimmering like how water ripples when you drop a stone into it it wasn't like fog or heat waves it moved in a way that didn't seem natural we all stopped in our tracks staring at it one of my friends finally spoke saying something like am I just thirsty or does that look strange to you too we all saw the same thing so we knew it wasn't just in our heads the problem was we didn't have many options the sun was going down and we only had about 30 minutes of daylight left the trail was
on a ridge so we couldn't go around it without risking a steep fall turning back wasn't a good idea either since that would mean walking miles in the dark with no headlamps whether we liked it or not we had to keep going for forward finally one of us reached out and put an arm through nothing happened it didn't feel different no warmth no cold nothing strange to the touch we hesitated for a moment but then one by one we stepped forward everything seemed normal on the other side the trees the trail and the fading sunlight
all looked the same we didn't feel any different for the next few days or even weeks we joked about it what if we had stepped into a different Universe without realizing it what if something had changed but we just hadn't noticed yet now I'm only still friends with one of those friends so a few years later I brought it up to her but she just said I don't want to think about it it seemed to bother her but didn't affect me that way I just thought it was weird and I still [Music] do my friend's
family rents a house in Sunset Beach North Carolina and they went there almost every year while he was growing up it was a special place for them and they had a lot of memories there about 7 years ago when I was 18 his dad got a Bonus at work and decided to make the trip even better he invited me and another friend to join them which was really exciting because I had never been to Sunset Beach before we'll call the friend whose family paid for the trip Alex and our other friend Brett the house had
a funny name like all the houses there the only one I remember is Fiddler On The Reef we spent the week doing different things hanging out on the beach eating at restaurants and just having fun on the second or third night Brett had an idea he suggested we take a walk on the beach in complete darkness but Alex didn't like the idea and after we asked him about it he finally told us why he said that if you walk far enough North at night the low tide reveals big sand flats that stretch out for a
while he his older brother his dad and his aunt had all gone there before and they all saw the same thing deep into the flats a tall dark figure would start following them he described it as looking like something out of a scary drawing kind of like a wendigo or the Ohio sludge Walker but even taller at first it moved slowly but as time passed it would start to speed up Alex said that after hearing the stories from his family he wanted wanted to see for himself then one night he walked all the way across
the flats before finally looking back that's when he saw it a tall shadowy figure standing near a swampy area to the west or somewhere around there at first it didn't move much but as he watched it seemed to shift almost like it was getting ready to follow him that was enough for Alex he didn't stop until he reached the rental homes and by then the figure was gone even after hearing all that Brett and I still didn't believe him it just sounded too wild to be real a strange creature following people through the flats it
had to be some kind of joke or a trick of the light so against Alex's warnings and his family's wishes Brett and I decided to go see the flats for ourselves we left the house around 9:30 and started walking it took us about 30 minutes to an hour to reach the start of the flats nothing too exciting happened on the way except for one thing we found a huge jellyfish washed up on the sand if you've never touched one they feel like a thick plastic bag filled with solid Jell-O I don't know about Brett but
I completely forgot that we were there to look for some urban legend I didn't even think to look back and until we reached the end of the flats The View was actually pretty cool right across from the flats there was a fancy hotel and its lights lit up the whole area we spent time talking joking around and just doing what teenagers do then we finally remembered why we came so we turned and looked toward the swampy area we didn't see anything at first so we walked closer as we got nearer I swear I saw something
but Brett didn't we kept moving and then Brett suddenly stopped he finally saw it too I didn't get a good look at it but that was enough for us we took off running after about 10 minutes we slowed down but we still hurried back as fast as we could that was the end of our experience even now I can't explain what we saw that night maybe it was just our imagination or maybe Alex's family was right all along either way I've never forgotten it and I don't think I ever will
