if you clicked on this video because you're feeling overwhelmed at the moment I want to offer you encouragement today I found you become overwhelmed for one of two reasons the first is that you have too many opportunities presenting themselves to you and you don't know how to do them all and you feel like you're spreading yourself too thin and then the opposite can also be the cause of overwhelm that you don't have enough opportunities and it seems like there are no doors opening themselves to you so you don't know what to do you don't know
how to proceed and how to sort of have any sort of benefit or positive impact in your life so I'm experiencing the first one which is it seems like there's so many opportunities and I want to take them all and that's very difficult but I found the solution is the same in both cases so you can only do your best whether that's as if there are no doors opening to you or many you can only walk through one door at a time so if you're in a situation where you you don't see many opportunities presenting
themselves what door can you walk through I know this is cliche but did you make your bed you know have you eaten a healthy meal you can make a very healthy meal for yourself that's beneficial you need to do that every day but you're kind of hoping to get this job or get this big break what door is open to you if it looks like you have no opportunities at the moment what door is open have you drunk enough water today get a glass of water get get a lemon have a bit of lemon water
do you know what I mean these are small things so you can only do your best you can't you can't um get the job sometimes you don't get the job like you go for the interview and you don't get the job you did your best do your best in the interview but now you've got a small thing you have to do that could be making your next meal that could be meditating for 20 minutes and then if you're overwhelmed because you're getting too many opportunities again the path that leads unto life is narrow broad is
the way that leads to destruction so it's quite easy to spread yourself too th and say yes to everything but if you say yes to everything you only have so much energy and this isn't you're not going to give your best to each thing so that's the time for discernment in both cases you need to discern what is the most productive thing I can do right now and sometimes it seems mundane it could be as easy or as basic as preparing a good meal for yourself getting a good night's sleep that's often if I feel
overwhelmed and like I have no opportunities I prioritize sleep I eat right and I try and sleep as best I can and then when you wake up the next day after 8 hours of good quality sleep the world is a different place and the opportunities come again so you need to discern what is it I can do and do your best the same is true when there's many doors you can only walk through one door at once and if you try and walk through each door you're not going to get anywhere so you need to
discern what is the best use of my energy you can't do everything what is the best use so allow me to De influence you if you like because I don't really resonate very well with the grind culture you know hustle hustle hustle grind and get everything done this leads to burnout burnout is trying to achieve more than your best that's what burnout is if you just do your best every day and leave it at that then that's a more healthy way of proceeding and if you think about the word grind if two surfaces grind up
against each other it it wrecks both of them so if you're changing gear in your car and you grind it into the next gear that's going to wreck your gearbox and that's going to be very costly and why would you impart that on yourself you know grind if you're grinding up against your life then that's not going to be a very smooth life you want flow so you don't want to be part of the grind culture you want to be part of the flow culture now I'm not saying be lazy if you haven't done your
best today you should be questioning what went wrong you know do your best but you can't do more than your best that's just going to lead to destruction so you might find that all of these doors are opening to you and they're blessings and you feel like obligated to take all of them but a good thing can turn bad very quickly if that starts messing with your mental health and your productivity well then you can't take any of the opportunities so it's time to discern which door to go through when I'm feeling overwhelmed I always
remember Matthew 6:34 and this is kind of the the last half of this verse sufficient to the day is the worry of it you're overwhelmed because you're thinking about a lot of things at once and probably not just today you're planning into the future or thinking about your past so sufficient to the day as a worrior it what can I do today and I would bring that down to sufficient to the moment is the worry of it what can I do right now because once you figure that out you stop being overwhelmed what can I
do now right it's night time normally you get these thoughts before bed it's night time the best thing I can do is get restful sleep so I need to meditate and clear my mind sufficient to the moment is the worry of it don't I mean worry is probably not the best word but what can I do in this moment and then that'll open the door you'll realize that after a good night's sleep you see an opportunity so that's my encouragement for you today you can only do your best don't try and compete with other people
and your best gets better the more you do this it compounds and then today it might be a good night's sleep tomorrow it might be getting the job you know you're competing with 300 other people for a job interview and you get the job both are very important it might have been the good night's sleep that caused that that allowed you to be sharp in the interview and then you get the job so you don't know how a glass of water is going to snowball into your dream job so I would encourage you today whether
it's too many opportunities not enough focus on the present moment what can I do right now and it might be as simple as meditating enjoying nature or a glass of water hope that helps speak to you soon
