Examiner: Good afternoon. My name is Jenny Cook and this is my colleague Jenny Tennant. And your names are?
Florine: My name is Florine Maria: And my name is Maria. Examiner: Can I have your mark sheets please? Florine: Yes, of course.
Examiner: Thank you. Examiner: Where are you from, Florine? Florine: I'm from Holland, from The Netherlands.
Examiner: And you Maria? Maria: I'm from Argentina. Examiner: Well first we'd like to know something about you.
Florine tell us about a film you really like. Florine: I really like the movie Titanic. I actually have seen it last night, and I like it because it's the story actually happens, and I like the love relate love relationship between the two main characters.
Examiner: Maria are you going to do anything special this weekend? Maria: Yes, this weekend I'm going with my best friends to the cinema to see a comedy film. Examiner: Mm-hmm.
And Florine, how much television do you watch in a week? Florine: Actually quite a lot. My mum doesn't always really like it, but I love watch kind of different things.
I watch the regular news and also just like the lazy entertainment programs and also I watch a lot of movies. So yeah quite a lot actually. Examiner: Maria, do you ever listen to the radio?
Maria: Not often, but some Sundays I switch on the radio to listen music. Examiner: Thank you. Examiner: In this part of the test I'm going to give each of you two photographs.
I'd like you to talk about your photographs on your own for about a minute and also to answer a question about your partner's photographs. Florine it's your turn first. Here are your photographs.
They show people who are helping other people in different situations. I'd like you to compare the photographs and say how important it is to help people in these situations. All right?
Florine: Yeah. I think in the first picture it's someone helping a soccer player because he's obviously hurt. And in the second photo at the police officer is helping I think it must be a tourist because there is a map in the photo.
And I think it's really important to help people in those situations because they're both in. . .
they both needed help. And in the first picture the person is probably in pain because mostly when you play sports you can get injuries. And in the second photo I think it's also very important that the police officer is willing to help the tourist because it's just I think police officers are there because they have to serve the people.
Examiner: Thank you. Maria do you find it easy to ask for help when you have a problem? Maria: It depends what problem I have because sometimes when you are in different places you are shy so you don't ask for help.
Examiner: Thank you. Can I have the booklet please? Florine: Yes, of course.
Examiner: Now Maria, here are your photographs. They show people spending time in different gardens. I'd like you to compare the photographs and say what you think the people are enjoying about spending time in these gardens.
Maria: OK, I can see in the first picture a woman doing gardening, in maybe his house. And on the second one I can see in a beautiful park, maybe near London, and we are spending time with his family. and well the first one, the girl is planting a nice plant.
And I think both are enjoying a lot these hobbies. Examiner: Thank You. Florine, which garden would you prefer to spend time in?
Florine: I think I would prefer the garden in the first picture because I think it's her own garden and I like working in a garden with my mom and dad, so I think I would enjoy spending time own garden most. Yeah. Examiner: Thank you.
Can I have the booklet please? Examiner: Now I'd like you to talk about something together for about two minutes. I'd like you to imagine that a town wants more tourists to visit.
Here are some ideas they're thinking about and a question for you to discuss. First, you have some time to look at the task. Examiner: Now, talk to each other about why these ideas would attract more tourists to the town.
Florine: Well I think all the ideas on the on the booklet are quite good actually. I think holiday flats will attract more tourists because there is just more space for the tourists to live in while they're on holiday. And what do you think about that?
Maria: Well I agree with you, but maybe providing parks is much better. Florine: Why do you think that actually? Maria: Because I think to spend time in parks are good with the family.
Florine: Yeah I think you can have a lot of fun in parks though. This having a nice picnic with your friends or stuff. Yeah that would be nice.
With more shops, yeah that I think it would be nice because I think a lot of people, mostly women, like shopping. And I think having a lot of shops here in town would be nice for the shopaholics. Maria: Yes, or I don't know maybe the tourists and like to spend more time in parks than go shopping, no?
Florine: Maybe if you are a kind of a nature person, if you like nature a lot, then parks are probably much better than a lot of shops. Florine: Putting up security cameras. Yeah, I think that's a really good idea because then the town is safe and tourists will feel safe.
Maria: Yes, with this, with the cameras are good idea because and the people are more safe than without cameras. Of the people that want to stole. Florine: Yeah.
Building a large. . .
No I don't think building a large nightclub is really a good idea to attract tourists. I don't know. Maria: It depends the age of the tourists, no?
Florine: Yeah definitely but I don't think it will attract a lot of tourists because of one club. I think it's a combination of several things that attract tourists. Examiner: Thank you.
Now you have about a minute to decide which idea would be best for the town. Florine: OK. So what do you think is the best idea for the town to do?
Maria: I think building holiday flats mainly. Florine: Yes. Why do you think that?
Maria: Mmm because all the tourists like to have flats to stay. Florine: Yeah. Maybe the parks are just a better idea to provide because they.
. . they're really nice to just have a walk in and enjoy the nature with your friends and family.
Maria: Yes. So, if you like, providing parks I think it's a good idea. Florine: Yeah I do think that's a good here idea.
Yeah, and but also the holiday flats I think it's a good idea because um you have to. . .
you have to have space for the tourists to live in so if there's no space there probably won't be a lot of tourists. Maria: Mm-hmm. Florine: Yeah.
Examiner: Thank you. Can I have the booklet please? Thank you.
Examiner: Florine, do you think you have to spend a lot of money to have a good holiday? Florine: I don't think you have to spend a lot of money because I think you can also have a. .
. Well, you can also have a good holiday when you're with just your friends or people you like to spend time with. And I don't think that should be in a nice fancy hotel or something where you have to spend a lot of money.
Just you have to be with people you like and enjoy being with. Maria: What do you think Maria? Maria: Well it depends which place you want to go, because maybe if you want to go to a nice an island you I think you are going to spend a lot of money then if you go to a campsite.
Examiner: Mm-hmm Maria: with friends Examiner: Mmm-hmm Examiner: Maria, some people say we travel too much these days and shouldn't go on so many holidays. What do you think? Maria: Yes I think now nowadays a lot of people travel more than few years ago.
Because I think the the world is increasing, so the people likes to travel. Examiner: Do you agree, Florine? Florine: I think we travel a lot these days but I think that's also because everybody has got a lot more money to spend.
So I think they spend it on traveling because they want to see a lot of the world. Examiner: Florine, do you think people have enough time for holidays these days? Florine: Hmm no I don't think so.
I think if you're in school like I am you've got a lot of long breaks especially the summer break is a long break. But I think when you're done with school and you have to start your professional life then there's there isn't a lot of time for holidays. So, yeah.
Examiner: Do you Maria? Maria: Yes I agree with Florine. Mmm but some people works not a lot so maybe can take more holidays than other people.
Examiner: Why do you think people like to go away on holiday? Florine: Well I think because they would like to see a lot of different parts of the world so they can just like develop their knowledge of it. Maria: Yes, and it's a good idea to spend time doing this and traveling around the world.
Florine: Yeah I think it's a good idea as well. Examiner: What do you think the biggest advantage of living in a place where there are a lot of tourists? Florine: I actually don't really think that there are a lot of advantages.
Do you think that? Maria: No because maybe the city or the town is going to be so crowd, so you can do a lot of activities because other places are full. Florine: Yeah.
I think it's mostly the only big advantage is that you get a lot of money from the tourists so it's good for the local economy. Maria: The economy. Florine: Yeah.
Florine: I don't think for the city itself it's big advantage to have a lot of foreign people. So, yeah. Examiner: And what can people do to have a good holiday in Holland?
Florine: I think they should go to Amsterdam because it's the main city of the Netherlands. And I think they can spend a lot of time in the nature we have got, mostly in the north of the Netherlands. It's pretty, it's very pretty.
And I think yeah, most cities are pretty nice to visit because everyone is really nice yeah. And they're willing to help you you need something. Examiner: And in Argentina?
Maria: When in Argentina, if you like to do some nature activities you can go to the Iguazú Falls. And then in the south you can do sports in the snow such as skiing, snower or walking with friends. Examiner: Thank you.
That is the end of the test. Florine: OK. Thank you very much.
Maria: Thank you.
